Have you ever wondered why all those shining paragons seem like such nice guys? It's because they can't afford to be mean. When you see the guy that can bench a truck pull off a CQC maneuver, people get scared and rightfully so. People only want to know that you're strong enough to protect them; you don't want to show them you're strong enough to kill them as well. Anyways, getting off topic. Long story short, I wasn't acting too heroic after the Invasion. The heroes likely chalked it up to the trauma induced by the Hive Mind, but the truth was that it had stirred up some old wounds as well. Crap I thought I had forgotten decades ago kept coming back to the forefront. One minute, I'm paying for my groceries, and the next I flash back to Siberia digging a trench. It's so real, I can practically see my hands turning blue. I had run away from my past for years, now it was finally time to confront all of those issues and lay them to rest. The Grue did something to my mind, some last little gift. All those mental blocks I had are starting to crumble. And until I know I can trust myself, I won't let anyone else trust me. I got to get away for a while and try to sort all this mess out.

There were no two ways about it; I felt weird about this whole deal. You know that sensation you get when you miss a step? Yeah that's been going about my head for weeks now. And I really didn't want to do this, but I had to; heroes are entitled to as many choices as other people are. I hadn't stepped on Russian soil in nearly 20 years, but there were still some issues I had to work out with the motherland; anything that could throw me off my game had to be taken care of. I had seen what happened to heroes that couldn't handle the pressure; the lucky ones ended up as villains, trying to kill the very heroes they fought side by side with. That's not going to be me, not again. After the Invasion, I felt unstable, and truth be told, I acted it. The heroes said I had started fighting more pragmatically, they were just being nice. The truth of the matter is that I had been fighting dirty and savagely.

How could laughing at quote be in poor taste?

Can you clarify that durf? There are 4 Grue in the room. One Lasher currently being grappled by Gossamer. EDIT: Also, no Grue is attacking Powers. In addition, you need to save against the rank 10 Shockwave one of the Bruisers hit you with on their turn.

And quicker than you can say "kill steal" the Behemoth is riddled with bruises bumps and cuts from Wander's savage assault. It takes a few lumbering swipes at Wander, but hits nothing but air and ground. Finally with one viscous blow to the back of the head, the Behemoth keels over, unmoving, but breathing heavily. With that, the advancing mob has all but been destroyed.

Basically, Atlas gains access to more ranks of the Power in question depending on how angry he is. His anger is on a 5 point scale: Annoyed, Peeved, Steamed, Angry, RAGE!!! You will notice that all of the powers with the flaw come in factors of 5, so at each stage, he gains access to 1/5 of the total ranks of the power. In the case of the Psionic Array, Atlas is able to keep it in whatever setting he wants up until he reaches Tier 3 anger, at which point the array must be set at the Drain Toughness setting; he can use the power before then if he so wishes as normal. As for the Tiers themselves, the first 3 levels are the ones most likely to be seen in actual game play. The last 2 tiers are only likely to be seen if someone is trying to deliberately antagonize Atlas. In order to determine how much a specific effect will antagonize Atlas, I'm going to yoink the Degrees of Success mechanic from DC Adventures. So basically, with Growth, Atlas is effectively PL 12.5 at a base emotional level. In order to hit PL15 caps, you need to get him all the way to Tier 5 anger. Atlas retains all of his faculties unlike a normal Rage, and his Defense remains constant, the only thing that changes is how much Atlas is going to hurt you when he gets his hands on you. I also left myself 12 points worth of wiggle room, but I don't really know what to spend it on. I don't necessarily want to increase his saves any, he isn't agile enough for an increase in Reflex, and I don't want to increase his Will save by much because I want there to be a decent chance that his Toughness will be drained with the Psionic effect at a high enough Tier.

Guys, Malice rolled a 16 total. I'm pretty sure that misses everyone anyway.

Nexus looked a bit taken aback by the appearance of a true to life (or death rather) zombie. For a moment you could see him falter as doubt crept into his heart. He may have the powers of a god, but he has the heart of a human, and that may be his one weakness. When he was confronted with the images of the dead however, he did not falter as he did before. He spoke for the first time, and barely louder than a whisper "Maria." as his hands balled into fists.

The only ones Edge can see are the Behemoths, and the last blast didn't make it past their Impervious, which Edge luckily saw. Want a re-do?
