Atlas was pretty quiet during the last few exchanges. He was quite literally on the edge of his seat, watching the fight unfold. This is straight out of the movies. he thought to himself. For a moment there, he thought the fight was going to get really and truly serious. But then Grim cracked a joke, and it was as if a weight was lifted off Atlas' shoulders. "No guts no glory!" roared Atlas at the dueling pair, encouraging them to even greater heights.

"I am still able to maintain flight, though I may not be as fast as I used to be, nor quite as maneuverable." answered Tempest truthfully. He floated a little bit above the ground to illustrate his point, though he did seem to be a bit wobbly. Tempest cocked his head and looked at Fulcrum curiously. "I thought it was rude for the humans to attempt to grasp that section of your Northern Hemisphere... if they were not in one of your human relationships. Or are you suggesting we begin one of these relationships?"

Yeah, I just checked your roll history, and you are currently averaging a 14.09 repeating. Grim is averaging a 7.5 even. Ow.

Notice Check (1d20+9=27)

Notice checks: You have noticed that the pieces of soot seem to be quite jagged (too brittle to cause injury don't worry), where as normal soot is a bit more rounded. Geckoman with his Investigate picks out a few more details. Firstly, the coating of the soot is far too uniform. If the soot were to be coming from one specific area, then you would expect one side of the tree to have more soot than another, especially given that this is supposed to be recent turn of events. Instead, everything is coated in soot. In addition, you find that with the exception of you lot moving around, none of the soot appears to be disturbed. Not by animals, not by people, not even by the wind. In short: this ain't right. If you were a betting man however, you believe that answers may lie at the center of this "contagion".

Atlas chuckles as he downs his own shot and observes Grim's odd expressions; he himself having drank it like a small glass of water. He pours her another glass, and himself another one as well. "Spot you five bucks da? Hrmm. Vell... zere vas mention of strip poker a moment ago... I'm just saying." says Atlas impishly.

Most of the explanation went over his head, but Samael got the gist. "Vould stored energy in my body make up for some of zat? Zat might be vhy I can't change back for a vhile. Or vould your first scan have picked up on zat ze first time zrough?" Atlas shrugged pausing for a moment while a new thought popped into his head. "Vait... does zis mean zat I am radioactive? Or... anti-radioactive? You know vat, zis is a bit above my level, just ignore me." Atlas smiled seeing the Doctor giddy. The man loves his work, one of life's greatest goals... then again he may love it a little too much. Ah, he's brilliant, he's got a right to be a little nuts. When the weight lifting began again, Atlas let his eyes wander. He knew it would be a while before the machine started giving him any problems, and the lab was full of so many shiny things he could easily kill an hour wondering what was in a single corner of the room. He felt like he was in one of those really snooty art galleries where people would stare at a painting for hours upon hours trying to guess what it was saying or why it was so important. He was debating whether the machine in the back corner was either a warp gate to different realities, or a really fancy mirror, when a chunk of the good Doctor's lab tore itself up from the floor. A string of rather colorful Russian profanities issued from Samael's lips in shock. Doc's machines also noticed that Samael's pulse just spiked. "Oh jeez Doc. I am so sorry. I don't know vhat happened. Oh god I'm sorry. I vasn't paying any attention and - and - and..." says Atlas in the span of about 1 second, obviously worried that Doctor Archeville is going to be livid.

"I done zank you kindly sir." said Atlas to Colt, doing a rather poor impersonation of a southern gentlemen. Atlas downed his drink in short order, his mouth being a little dry from all the commotion today. However, after half a handful of the peanuts he wished he had saved some of his drink as his mouth was dry yet again. "Hey, don't be using all of ze names of ze big monsters. Vhat vill zey use ven out match is up?" said Atlas to Fulcrum in a mock scandalized tone.

The strike force quickly got into position, surveying their target and taking up what little cover there was on the ocean floor. They had to be careful not to hit the egg, but this is something they were trained for. They line their targeting arrays up, and with unspoken commands, fire in unison at the target. Tempest however, is unfazed by the electrical assault. He abruptly stops examining the egg, and rounds on his assailants. "What manner of creatures are you?" asks Tempest, but due to the fact that he is under water, it mostly comes across as a dialect of blub. The soldiers exchange worried glances for a moment as the creature before them just shrugged off a rather powerful surge of electricity.

Goon Initiative (1d20+1=20) Tempest Initiative (1d20+0=16) Tempest is unaware of the goons sneaking up behind him, they get a surprise round, and Tempest gets a HP for the set back (as I did not roll their Stealth vs his Notice). For the stats of the goons I am using Devil Ray, pg 146 of the FC book. Why? Because he's pathetic. For the first round, they line up their electrical blasters and let loose. ... and I just realized that Tempest has half immunity to electrical attacks :? Well this is going to be a short fight...

Tempest alters his course and descends so that he may investigate the egg closer. Before he gets too close however, he begins to sense something off about this egg. He cannot place the feelings, but something tells him as if this is something that should probably be left alone. However, Tempest was quite adept at ignoring that particular feeling whn there was something new and exciting to learn. Tempest set down on the ocean floor which was bathed in the soft green glow of the egg. Their appeared to be some vine like protrusions from the egg keeping it anchored down to the ocean floor. Carefully, Tempest placed his hand on the shell. It's alive, but also, not. It does not seem to be growing either. It is... waiting? But why? What is it waiting for? He was so engrossed in his analysis of the egg that Tempest did not see the three figures approaching from behind him.

Ya know, the further into this thread we get, the more I realize my knowledge of movies is shockingly limited.
-
Reverse nuclear reaction. Converts stored energy directly into mass in the form of lots of new cells. Or some crazy garbage like that.
-
Applicable skills for the soot: Investigate, Knowledge (Life sciencies, earth sciences, technology), Survival. Notice is useable as well, but it will not reveal as much information as the other skills.
-
The OOC Thread, used as necessary.

Tempest had felt a strange feeling when he had last passed over the ocean. He had pressing matters at the time, so he could not tend to it at that time, but now he had no other pressing concerns so it was time to investigate. Diving into the depths, Tempest headed deep under the waves. Even in this world, the presence of humans was felt. On the ocean floor, countless ships lay broken and forgotten. What the humans once used to wage war, was now the source of life. It is what the humans would call ironic. It wasn't too much longer until Tempest began to see signs of what had originally drawn him here. On the see floor, there appeared to be a large green egg, roughly 3ft in diameter. This is not from any earth creature.

"An excellent landing The Geckoman Whose Brakes Are No Longer Screwed! human. Perhaps I should inquire to this School of MC Hammer, as I am interested in how the humans attain flight through these machines. An errand for another day perhaps." Tempest calmly undid his seat belt and exited the Pitchoo to survey his surroundings. The clearing that the heroes have landed in isn't immediately remarkable. On second glance however, it appears as if everything is covered with what appears to be a fine layer of soot. There is little to suggest that it has been made my man, as weren't any roads visible up here, let alone any factories or such.

I'll congratulate you now. :congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats: Because in a few days: :thud: :thud:

A lot of things happened really really fast. Most of the names being brandied about meant nothing to Atlas, but he did know one thing; this idiots had just screwed up Jack and Taylor's wedding. They had to pay. Atlas stepped forward, making sure his friends where huddled around him. He knew he could take the hits, but wasn't sure how many of them could, though judging by their reactions, quite a few of them were heroes themselves. That was good. "Yeah. I don't know vat zis "Dragon's Law" is. But if you try to do anyzing ozer zan go back from vhere ever you came from, I am going to tear you apart." spat Atlas menacingly.

Initiative (1d20+0=15) Atlas will use Interpose on the first attack targeted at an adjacent ally. Note: Because Atlas is Large size, he can be adjacent to up to 10 allies instead of the normal 8. Intimidate - Demoralize (1d20+19=24) awww
-
Atlas looked away from the bout, shaking his head. "Anyone else getting motion sick from vatching zose two? I am pretty sure zat ze boz of zem vould have hit me about tvelve times a piece by now. And I vouldn't even know vere ze attacks vere coming from. GOOD SHOW!" roared Atlas at the last part, shouting encouragement to both parties. They were certainly setting the bar high.

Ordinarily, Atlas would have stayed put after walking for a while hadn't gotten him anywhere, but there was this feeling he couldn't shake. Like he was being watched. It kept him from being calm and thinking rationally. So when he saw what might have been sign of something else down here, he went on without a second thought. Even if it's bad idea, somebody else might hear me. thought Atlas as he moved closer to the source of the firelight.

"Very well. Perhaps the next movie will help me achieve a greater level of understanding that I currently have. Though given you repeated attempts to convince me that I am in the wrong, it should not be a difficult task." Tempest paused for a moment. "Either that or it is a testament to the difficulty of the task. Now, which movie should we watch next? Boom de ya da, boom de ya da."

"How do ve up ze ante? Zere is an obvious answer to zat question." said Atlas as he spread his arms out behind the backs of the chairs so his hands where behind Ace and Colt. "Ve use ze ozer competitors as our boxing gloves." Atlas laughed at the reaction of the other fighters. "Zey vouldn't let us use cars because of all ze glass" he added. "Don't count yourself out Fulcrum. I'm not exactly looking forward to fighting someone who can punch me in ze face. I keep all my important zings zere."
