  1. "Thank you." said Tempest as he crossed the threshold. The door behind him seemed to close of its own volition, but Colt knew Tempest had something to do with that sudden gust of wind. He followed Colt's directions and found the kitchen area quite alright. He pulled out a chair so that he could sit down, but them remembered there was mention of "putting a kettle on". Tempest did not know what a kettle was, nor what tradition it was that required it to be adorned as clothing, but Tempest was quite interested in learning the procedure. Tempest sat at the table, waiting, in complete silence and without fidgeting, it was mildly disturbing.

Adjusting to a new body was quite possibly the weirdest thing Samael ever had to do. Normally people just grew into it gradually, but in Samael’s case he got 4 feet taller, and 800 pounds heavier just overnight. It was like going through puberty all over again, only now he was quite a bit more destructive than he was back then. Getting through the front door was an adventure in and of itself. Sprinkles for one also let him know what he wasn’t too keen on the fact that his master seemed hesitant to fuss with him the way he used to. He got over it however when Samael tried giving Sprinkles a few treats, but wound up tearing the bag in half and spilling the contents all over the floor. The next day was even worse when Atlas woke up the next day and realized he had no way of actually preparing all the sandwiches and other breakfast meals that he ordinarily did at his deli. He could just barely fit behind the counter let alone use any of the knives without potentially breaking them. He had to close the deli down for the day, and probably indefinitely. There were a lot of complaints – up until the customers realized the owner was a BIG RED MAN!

December 6th “Boom de ya da, Boom de ya da, Boom de ya da†I do not yet understand this phrase but I have found it to be a most intruiging phenomina. What my studies have deduced so far is that this phrase was used with frequency on the Discovery Channel. This was part of a commercial on the televison which showcased a number of the star humans singing this particular phrase. The star humans are a group of humans that regularly appear on the various sorts of television programs that the Discovery Channel shows. This includes the Mythbusters humans, the Deadliest Catch humans and the Mike Rowe human. There were also a number humans that I am unfamiliar with. By all appearances, they seemed to be a collection of civilian humans with no one obvious connection. Though I have yet to grasp the meaning of the phrase, when I hear it, I believe the humans would call this emotion happiness. I shall therefore attempt to use this phrase in conversation with the humans so that I may gauge their response to the use of the phrase.

December 4th It appears as if I was mistaken about the functionality of the journal. Unlike mauch of the human techanology, a journal does not perform any of the functionality on its own. It is entirely dependany on the operating human for all of its input and it does not generate any unique output on its own. It does however provide the ability for the operating human to reference their thoughts from periods of time long past with a perfect recollection, assuming that the writing has not been damaged over time. The humans would refer to technology such as this as a tool or a reference work. It is entirely dependant on the user for any of its applications, but the user has an easier time of completing their task if they utilize such a tool. The humans use of tools is a most wonderous concept, but at the same time I believe that it is the reason that the humans have become lost with their connection to the planet. The tools can do a great number things, I cannot deny that fact, but what I can dispute is to whether the gains that this technology grants the humans is worth the price that the environment is paying for the human’s practices. PS – I believe the reflecting process is working now.

Tempest’s personal journals: December 3rd Upon the suggestion of some members of the hero community, I shall begin to keep what they refer to as a journal. It appears to be chronicling of my experiences during the course of the day, written from my own perspective. The humans seem to do this so that they experience a “reflection†on their experiences. This is another one of of those human saying I had heard of. A period of reflection is when you can review the events of the day and possibly glean some insight into the cause and effect of the events that could have been missed without this period of reflection. Perhaps the journal-writing humans are more similar to the enlightenment-seeking humans than either of the two groups realize. I look forward to the period of reflection which will assuradely be short coming. … I do not seem to be experiencing the reflecting sensation. Perhaps my journal is broken?

  8. Soon after Colt had gone inside, Atlas made him arrival on the scene. He leapt down from one of the nearby buildings, onto the street. Atlas broke into a jog was he was making his way over to Lisa, hi-5'ing the crowd the whole way down. Atlas came to a stop by Lisa, and took a knee next to her so she wouldn't need a box to hold the microphone up to his mouth. "So Atlas, I heard you managed to raise quite a bit of money for this event. How'd you pull it off." "I do some vork vith ze good people at Builder's League United, on zeir bit projects, and I convinced zem to make a donation." "Well good luck to you out there, and it looks like a few of your fans have showed up to cheer you own." The camera panned down to show 3 kids, wearing T-shirts with the Extra Snuggly Adorable Orphans Foundation's logo; the oldest one looked to be about 8 years old. "Wow.. he's big." "H-Hi. My name's Billy and ummmm... Mr. Atlas sir? Can I has your autograph?" "You sure can. 'To my best-est buddy in the whole world, Billy' 'signed Atlas'" Atlas spent a good 10 minutes messing with the kids and taking a bunch photographs as the kids climbed on him like a jungle gym. "Okay kiddies. I have to go or I am going to be late. See you after ze fights." called Atlas as he went into the Liberty Dome, which was thankfully easy to walk through because I had been built with athletes in mind.
  9. "Hello, Colt human. Indeed it is." Tempest seemed... out of breath? Tempest stood up stiffly to greet Colt, if he had bones, they would surely be creaking right now. "My condition is not contagious, don't be alarmed. I shall explain it in detail when the others arrive. I wish to avoid repeating myself and I xpect the othe hero humans to have a number of questions in regards my explanation."
  10. Tempest's body reformed until he looked like a hybrid of stone and wood, making him the most solid Colt had ever seen him. The only part that remained elemental was Tempest's eyes and hair which continued to cycle through the elements. "You have little cause for alarm in that regard Colt human; the floor knows who its rightful master is and I therefor do not need to show it the full extent of my wrath. *pause* That was a joke Colt human. May I come in?"
  11. Okie dokie. I'll nix that then, as I'm probably on the razor edge of the latter part without it. *ponders what to get in its place*

  14. Finding the spot wasn't really tough, the forest seemed to guide them to Tempest's location. Tempest had contacted the heroes the previous day because he was having a difficulty of some kind, but didn't really elaborate on it when it contacted them. He simply told them to meet him in the State Forest, and he would explain the rest there. Without much effort the heroes made their way their own separate ways to where Tempest had more or less made his home. The trees and ground looked almost "lived in". There seemed to be a presence about the area, and the source was sitting in the middle of the "clearing". Although Tempest had little anatomy that people could readily recognize, even the untrained observer that Tempest looked sick. He wasn't changing elements as fast as normal, he seemed sluggish and groggy. He also seemed to almost have an ashen complexion. Whatever was happening, it didn't seem to be doing Tempest any favors.
  15. Tempest had only been on Earth for a few months, but in his time here, he had seen a great number of interesting activities, but this constant talk of the Christmas seemed to be potentially the most interesting event that Tempest had seen on Earth. However, this event seemed so pervasive to the humans that they had difficulty articulating the exact extent of what exactly the Christmas was. All Tempest could gather was that it was some sort of pervasive event where many humans gathered in the shopping centers to compete with the other humans in an attempt to acquire goods which are easily acquirable over the course of the year. To help illuminate this issue, Tempest decided that he should call on his friend here on Earth, the Colt human. Tempest landed outside of the Colt human's new domicile. Between their last conversation and the present date, the Colt human had taken up residence in this new location, but Tempest was able to track where the Colt human had moved to. Tempest also meaned to ask the Colt human about the process of relocation.
  16. Colt and Tempest try to determine the true meaning of Christmas.
  17. Initiative 1d20+0=14 I'll hold off on posting my action for the moment, I want to see where everyone else falls before I head in.
  18. Also note, still open to anyone who wants to pop on in. Don't be shy, step right up!
  19. Well, while we're figuring that out, let's get the shindig underway. The IC Thread The OOC Thread
  20. Here's the OOC for the fundraiser thread. It's about an hour before the actual event starts, but a bunch of time has been given for the heroes to socialize with the crowd. There's a steady stream of people filing into the Dome, and right in the main grounds Lisa from channel 7 news to get a few words with the heroes before they head on into the arena. There's also a few of the orphans with Lisa who want to meet their "favoritest hero ever!" before the big event. Take it away, and remember to ham it up.
  21. Date: ??? "Well it looks like its going to be a full house here tonight at the Liberty Dome, doesn't it Mark?" "You said it buddy. People have been practically camping out for seats since dawn. And it really is a nice sight to see isn't it Bill." "Right you are Mark. All the proceeds raised today go directly to the Extra Snuggly Adorable Orphans Foundation thanks to the great people here at the Liberty Dome, all the great people of Freedom with their donations, and last but not least, all the heroes who signed up for the bouts here today." "Speaking of Bill, why don't we go ahead and check in with Lisa who's standing by right outside with the Dome to greet the heroes who should start arriving shortly. Lisa, how's the atmosphere out there today?" "...It's absolutely fantastic Mark. As you can see the crowd behind me is absolutely thrilled to be here, and the turnout is even bigger than we expected. There will be standing room only tonight." "Now Lisa, we've heard rumors that - " "Sorry Bill, I'm going to have to cut you off there. It looks like the first of the heroes is making their arrival."
  22. Aww. Referee it is then. Anyone have a preference on the date?
  23. NOTE: Upon hitting Platinum with Tempest, he will be archived at which point Jester will take his place. Jester starts at PL 12 - 180pp because that is what I'm selecting as the Platinum reward. Also, fluff is being worked and will be posted as soon as I am satisfied with it, as I keep switching between 2 or 3 alternatives. Players Name: Geez3r Power Level: PL 12 (180/184) Trade-Offs: +2 Attack, -2 DC; +2 Def, - 2 Tough Unspent PP: 4 Characters Name: Jester Alternate Identity: Height: 5'10" Weight: 145 pounds Hair: Light blue, varies Eyes: Yellow sclera, red iris, white pupil Description: Jester's appearance varies wildly from day to day if not from minute to minute. There are however certain constants. His body is lithe and compact, like that of a runner or gymnast. Jester's face, and possibly all of his skin has been bleached white. Jester also has a near permanent and overly large smile plastered across his face. Whether this is the cause of some physical or mental defect is not known. Also, Jester's odd eye and hair color mentioned above tend to remain constant, but the style of his hair is subject to erratic change. His fingernails and toenails also tend to have a dark purple coloration to them as well, the cause is unknown. He also has 2 different outfits that he is seen in most regularly. The first is where Jester wears a straight jacket, and a pair of lose black jeans. That's it. Not even shoes or socks. While like this, Jester tends to be at his most animated, energetic and nearly, insane. He's less talkative and a bit more active than he is in other attire, but he is still quite verbose. The second is when Jester wears a full, violently bright orange suit and vest, with a light blue undershirt that matches his hair. He often couples the outfit with orange gloves, but not all the time. This version tends to be more interested in talking, and telling jokes, all the while sneaking in puns here and there. He tends to be more suave and sophisticated in this outfit, but he is still very much the Clown Prince of Chaos. History: Jester’s life is a matter of some debate. Much like his appearance, there are some constants that are known, but quite a bit more that changes frequently, and is up to a matter of wild speculation. This is due to the fact that Jester seems to love making up a completely different story for his life each and every time he is asked the question, even if he’s already given them a different answer. What if definitely known is as follows. Roughly 5 years ago, Jester made his criminal debut. He zipped around town on a tricycle, and stole the gumballs out of every gumball machine he came across. With it, he planned on blowing the world’s largest bubble , so he could pop it and gum up Freedom City. This ploy was thankfully stopped, and Jester was carted off to jail. However, he was released in short order as “giant bubble making†is not technically a crime, so he was only charged with stealing the gum balls. And Jester's life fell into a bit of a patter after that. All of his schemes ended in failure and were usually far more annoying than they were illegal. He's get caught and be thrown in jail or fined, but soon enough he'd be back on the street and do something stupid like fill the Liberty Dome with cotton candy, or something else of that nature. Unknown to the public, it became the worst thing Jester could ever fathom. It became routine. It drove Jester nuts, even more so than usual. He racked his brain for something, anything to break him out of his rut. But it was to no avail. His next two schemes landed in back in prison, and right back to square one. He was at wits end, thinking that this was going to finally drive him insane (this being the guy who tried to have a stuffed teddy bear be his attorney in his last court date), but fate it seemed, had other plans. Jester bounced around town on his pogo stick, trying to clear his head and come up with a brilliant scheme. His travels were interrupted however when he stumbled upon a robbery in progress by Toy Boy. Jester veered off course to vent some steam on Toy Boy's armada of action figures. As Jester ran over the last of the army men with a steam roller, which was stuffed back into Jester's pants when he was done with it, Jester finally took note of the crowd that had gathered. But Jester's eyes widened in shock as the crowd actually cheered for him. This was exactly what Jester had been seeking all along. It was new, it was unique, and it was absolutely exhilarating! Personality & Motivation: For the longest while, Jester was guided by sheer giddy impulse. If it would get a laugh out of someone he needed to do it and do it now. But with his turn to more heroic deeds, Jester has tempered that drive with a degree of restraint. He still acts mostly out of trills and wanting to avoid being sent back to prison, but a part of him is really starting to enjoy this hero stuff. His core is mostly unchanged. Jester is pretty much one of the most hyper people known to man. He flits from one task or idea to the next as frequently as most people use a vowel. He's always looking for a laugh, and pulling pranks and tricks at any and all opportunities. He loves being over the top and the center of attention. He can also be a bit crass at times, but never out of malice. He also has a special place in his heart for messing with any people who try their utmost to be as serious as possible. Powers & Tactics: Jester uses his Gadgets to create a wide array of comedic effects to defeat his opponents, cause chaos and generally be a screw ball. He absolutely loves messing with the serious stoic types and will target them first in combat. He loves to taunt, be a distraction and a general nuisance. And above all, if an opportunity presents itself to do something incredibly funny but ultimately useless in the fight, it must be done. Jester's suit is magical in nature. Jester wields powerful chaos magic, however he does so through intuition. His magic is done unintentionally and unconsciously. Jester is in fact entirely unaware of the fact that he knows magic, let alone how to perform it consciously. His suit is basically nothing more than an elaborate prop that lets him subconsciously tap into his magic. That's why no one else can use it; it doesn't actually do anything. It would be like trying to use a computer monitor with no computer tower. Complications Let’s put a smile on that face! – No seriously. Jester wants to make people laugh, but for some reason, clown-themed individuals seem to really creep people out. His own history may have something to do with it though. Rule of Funny – Jester cannot use his Gadgets to make an unfunny effect. As a necessarily corollary, any effect he makes has to be funny. Punny and campy work too. Now that’s funny! – If someone other than Jester does something funny, Jester has the option of having a fit of laughter that stuns him for 1 round. He can’t hero point that stun away. Hijinx – Jester previously had a life of crime, and although he never did anything terrible according to the law, he really, really got under the skin of some people. Joy buzzers, very long rainbow scarves, throwing pies and other such oddities are common effects. His suit is broken up into 2 parts, the Gadgets and the Device. If anyone else should get the suit, they will find that they cannot get any of the normal effects they see Jester use to work. Due to the material it is made of however, they do receive moderate protection from harm and can change clothes very quickly, though they might not like their options. Effectively, only Jester can access the Gadgets, but anyone can access the Device portion of the suit. The Rule of Funny complication exists as a complication rather than a drawback because it will be very, very rare for Jester to not be able to devise a comedic rational for a given effect. But if it comes up, hero point. Off the Grid - Jester's DNA and finger prints do not match up to any known individual. They are in the system as "Jester", no one knows his real identity. Bottomless Pockets – Jester has an unlimited number of things in his pockets at any given time, with the special restriction that none of them are useful at the given time. If Jester was trying to make it past a high security lock for instance, he wouldn’t have lock picking tools, but he could however have a small mouth bass. Cartoon Damage – Jester’s injuries seem to manifest themselves as if they were being showcased on an episode of Looney Toons. Ie: one giant lump on his head, the famous accordion walk, being covered in soot if he was hit by an explosion. WARDROBE! - Jester can only use this effect to change between clothing that is clearly out of place and wouldn't be seen in the day to day setting ie: astronaut, flamingo dancer, 1920's mafia type, bull fighter, etc. SAMPLE GADGETS Pie to the Face [16pp] Dazzle 8 (visual) Flaws: Touch Range, LINKED Stun 8 Flaws: Daze The really big horn [18pp] Dazzle 12 (Auditory) Extras: General Cone Area Flaws: Touch Range, Full Round Action [6pp] LINKED Damage 12 Extras: General Area Cone Flaws: Full Round Action [12pp] Big seltzer bottle [18pp] Trip 8 Extras: Knockback PF: Improved Trip, Knockback 1 Oversized squeaky hammer [16pp] Damage 8 PF: Penetrating 4 [12pp] LINKED Confuse 8 Flaws: Touch Range [4pp] Confuse Table 1-2 Attack Jester 3-5 Act Normally 6-10 Do nothing but recite a series of knock-knock jokes 11-14 Get into argument with own hand which looks like a sock puppet 15-20 Double over in laughter Cuban Pete [12pp] Enhanced Skills 5 (Perform (Dance) 10, Perform (Signing) 10) [5pp] Enhanced Charisma 10 Flaws: Perform Checks only – Stage Presence [5pp] Enhanced Feats 2 (Fascinate Perform (singing & dancing)) [2pp] Spring Shoes/ Pogo Stick [5pp] Leaping 5 (x50 distance) The Acrobat 14pp Enhanced Skills 3 (Acrobatics 6, Sleight of Hand 6) [3pp] Leaping 3 [3pp] Speed 3 [3pp] Immunity 5 (Falling Damage) [5pp] Did you miss me? 24. Atlas' hands wouldn't stop shaking. Before now he thought he had known fear, and only now before the very end, did he really know how mistaken he was. When he was fighting side by side with the other heroes he felt as if he was invincible. With this many heroes working together, there was no way that they couldn't win. But now that he saw so many of them die around him, he realized his own mortality. This wasn't a war, this wasn't a battle, this wasn't even a fight. This was the fading heart beat of the world as we know it. Right now, all Atlas could do was pray to every single divine entity he had ever heard of and even some he was making up on the spot that the children could win this. As Ace rallied the troops, Atlas put all his faith where it always should have been, with the future of Freedom City. "FOR FREEDOM!" roared Atlas as the demon horde began to crash into their lines again.
  25. Tempest fell back with the defending humans, but made sure that the majority of the defending humans were behind him. Tempest continually kept a maelstrom of nature's fury active within the area. He focused fired on any of the larger demon abominations that made their presence known. Dozens of the demon abominations were stuck down, but the demon abominations were quite numerous. The motivations of the demon abominations were also quite puzzling to Tempest. The demon abominations seemed to pursue the objective of killing all of the civilian humans that were contained within the building of the Archeville human. However, this was more than an act of determination. The demon abominations cared not one iota for their own livelihood. They continually charged the lines over and over again, even as their compatriots met grisly deaths in the hundreds. The longer the battle raged, the more Tempest was sure that the abomination monicur was indeed accurate. These demon abominations were not truly alive for they did not wish to live.
