  1. Geckoman 1 post, +1 Ref pp = 2pp >The Family You Choose (1) I would like you all to take solace in the fact I have completed all my classes forever.
  2. Chris bustled into the hallway as Gina ushered everyone in. "Hi, thanks for having us over," he smiled, nodding to everyone as he quickly swept past the assemblance of guests towards the kitchen. He placed the dish down on one of the few empty spaces he could find on the counter. "Fearless leader. Disc drive." He turned and looked solemnly at Yolanda. "Tell me they've not set anything on fire yet." He sniffed at the air. Man, did he love the smell of food. He could almost hear his stomach rumbling. Or possibly did actually hear it. Meanwhile, Liz stood awkwardly in the front room. She knew Mara, obviously, and had met Ellie before, but she'd never met the two older women. "Uh... hi," she said, hesitantly. "Thank you for inviting me. You have a lovely home."
  3. "So, remember, Mara's my boss now, so you need to be a little more composed than usual... Kenzie... KENZIE!" Liz turned her eyes from the road momentarily to look at Chris. He was fumbling with the collar of a pale green shirt with evidently too much starch in the collar. "Now I'm not the one losing my temper," he grumbled. "Just my airflow. How come you got to drive, anyway? It's my car." "Mine, actually, and I'll get away with it because you haven't got the same weird love affair with the car," said Liz brusquely as they pulled into the Espadas' street. "And watch the casserole." She pulled in behind the HAX company car. Chris slid out of the car, carefully balancing a covered dish in one hand while trying not to trip in those horrible sensible shoes. What was wrong with his old sneakers? The smell gave character. Liz swept past him as he struggled to close the car's door, moving swiftly in a knee-length black dress. "Hi, Mara! I see our timing's good... oh, hi," she said, noticing Josephine. "I don't think we've met. I'm Liz, this is Chris. Nice to meet you."

  7. It's also worth noting, in general, being willing to learn and take on board, as you're doing, means people are eminently more likely to be pateitn and helpful in helping you learn and take things on board. So don't sweat it!
  8. "Except," chimed in Equinox. "I'm not sure what this thing is, mystically speaking. From a magic perspective, it's... not. And not in the sense that it's non-magical." She frowned and waved her hands, trying to explain. "Basically, it's utterly inert. Most everything has some level of magic to it, even just background magic. Like radiation, everything is slightly irradiated. Except things where it can't penetrate. Like lead. This seems to be... magical lead. Profoundly not magic." She was very, very, very carefully not mentioning the sheer idiocy of letting Russia manage Iraq. Not that she agreed with how it was currently done, but Comrade Frost seemed to have an... idealised view of Russia.
  9. Geckoman's Party Grovyle ♂ Kecleon ♀ Galvantula ♂ Sandile ♂ Flygon ♀ Nature: Hasty Nature: Brave Nature: Bold Nature: Naughty Nature: Relaxed Ability: Overgrow Ability: Color Change Ability: Compoundeyes Ability: Moxie Ability: Levitate Moves: Moves: Moves: Moves: Moves: Acrobatics Aerial Ace Bounce Crunch Fly Agility Recover Bug Buzz Dig Hyper Beam Leaf Blade Shadow Sneak Electroweb Hone Claws Roost Pursuit Slash Giga Drain Swagger Thunderpunch When arriving at Claremont Academy, Duncan Summers presented Chris with a Treecko, which immediately bonded with him. It has fought with him side by side ever since then, the two each getting into a vicious cycle of recklessly fighting something they shouldn't, and being immediately followed by the other to Flygon's continual disapproval. It is by leaps and bounds, however, the most powerful team member he has, despite having only recently evolved to Grovyle and taking up sword fighting with Jack of all Blades to practice. It has expressed satisfaction with not having fully evolved, and probably never will, feeling perfectly content as it is. When training with the Raven, Chris came upon Kecleon hiding itself against the wall of the alleyway they were in. He caught it, and since then has used it in battle. While initially resentful of being captured, it eventually warmed up to him and the team, and began raising hell with Grovyle. Perhaps appropriately for the circumstances of its capture, it is the sneakiest of his Pokemon, lurking in the kitchen perfectly disguised while anyone is cooking... then stealing everything the second their back is turned and running away. Chris didn't find Galvantula, Galvantula found him. While digging out the Arborealair, a Joltik decided to cling to his arm, and due to the pair's respective wall-crawling abilities, got stuck there for a number of hours. It decided to keep hanging around once this kink had been ironed out, and enjoys sitting on Chris's shoulder to surreptitiously web food off his plate. While not as powerful as Grovyle and Flygon, it has carved out a place for itself on the team, darting around with powerful energy attacks, interspersed with letting off some excess energy by bouncing around like a maniac. The newest addition to the team, Sandile, was picked up by Chris when he conveniently had to "go out of town" while Erik was renovating the new building to be a sword school. While the youngest and weakest Pokemon he has, it is still a strong fighter... and an absolutely filthy one too. His favored tactic is taunting his opponents into swinging around wildly trying to hit him, while he digs down to burst out underneath them. He has an odd habit of somehow getting onto the roof and lying sunbathing for hours while everyone is forced to search for him. Chris first met his Flygon as a Vibrava when he was a young punk, finding her abandoned in a ball in a warehouse. Unbeknownst to them, her previous owner had been arrested for doing scientific research for Team Rocket to fund her college. Vibrava decided to tag along with him, and over the years has ferried him around and fought beside him. They've been largely inseparable since, to the point where upon finding Flygon's original trainer (and dating her), she didn't want to leave. Chris rarely actually uses her in direct combat, instead preferring to ride on her back and direct his other Pokemon. She has a tendency to mother Chris and the other team members, stopping them from doing anything too overtly stupid and flying in to rescue them when they do.
  10. Geckoman smiled and stepped forward to greet Velocity. Grrr, stupid buttface. As if we wouldn't be nice. "Hiii! Velocity, right?" He extended one gloved hand to shake. "You're in the Freedom League, right? That must be awesome. What's Daedalus like?" The green detective gestured vaguely at the city. "Anyway, I guess Jackie boy told you, we've got a bunch of guys running around jacked up on a ton of Zoom, and even my baby," he gestured back at the big egg-shaped craft he so very much loved, "Well, she's not fast enough to catch them. I mean, what they're doing's illegal, buuuuut... it'll very likely kill them if we can't get them before the Zoom gets there first. What do you recommend?" He paused, seemingly oblivious to his verbal diarrhea.
  11. "Pshaw," snorted Chris, swinging back up into the Pitchoo. "They wouldn't be able to find someone good enough to test me. I only just found out the other week that the heavy end of the throttle, something I've been using every day, apparently doesn't exist." He shrugged incredulously. "Physics, huh?" He swiveled a few levers and twisted some dials, the ship corkscrewing up slowly. "We'll head back in and consult with Jacko, see what's going on hereabouts." The Pitchoo whirred along at a conspicuously slower rate to lower itself down onto the rooftop Erik and Min were standing on. The big side door folded down to form a ramp, with a high-pitched whirrr.
  12. The Pitchoo's engine screeched as the ship accelerated up the length of the street with a pt-chooooooo emitting from the antigravs. The ship was fast, but the blurring forms below made it look slow and clunky. "Dammit, dammit, dammit," said Geckoman swiftly, as the shapes suddenly split up at the crossroads, going in three separate directions. "Snap decision!" He twisted the egg-like craft sharply to the left, missing the corner building by scant inches. "Gotcha!" he yelled... and immediately realised they'd doubled back on him and left him flying off in the wrong direction. He pushed open the bottom hatch, and lowered himself out to watch the speeding forms vanish away into the distance, planting his feet and hands in an upside-down crouch. "Aw, baby, it's not your fault you're not as fast as drugs." He patted his ship gently.

  16. Equinox dropped down to the floor, hand extended to take the proferred artifact. "Girls don't have doctorates, comrade," she said drily, but with a small smile on her face. "But I'll happily carry it, if there's any real risk of it falling into their hands, I can just teleport halfway across the desert to play keep-away." She looked around at all of them. "But before you ask, probably not all of you, and certainly not an entire car. It's difficult enough making sure I arrive in one piece without adding that level of added mass into the equation." The witch looked down at the artifact. "Let's take a look at this thing, anyway."
  17. Jeni slowly prowled through the bowels of the ship in her tiger form, the powerful, lithe creature able to move swiftly and silently for a creature so large. She did enjoy much of Earth's wildlife, it was true. Such variety! Humans thought their planet was too industrialised, and probably that was true, but it was nothing compared to her home. With casual experience, she moved past the weird, chittering guardian creatures unseen, clambering atop ledges and shimmying along narrow pipes which shouldn't be able to hold a great cat's weight with such consummate ease. Security lasers were stepped over and under, cameras rushed past in the shadows at breakneck speeds, pressure plates simply leapt over with feline grace. It was hard to detect a genius mind in the body of the perfect predator.
  18. Equinox dropped out of the air behind the sandy adversary, hand leveled at his back. "I'm not entirely sure you understand, sir." She swiftly drew her wand from her sleeve, a quick pulse of magic emitting from it as it immediately grew into a length of steel, a weird corona forming in the air around it. "You will not be taking this artifact, and continuing to believe you will is irrational. This sword will disperse whatever spell is letting you turn into sand. Leaving just cold, solid, steel." Her voice was utterly calm, like she was teaching a class. "Wouldn't that be a shame?"
  19. Fatigue acquired, not bought off using Hero Point, leaving her to still have 4. Move Action: Drop behind Haboob. Standard Action Intimidate check (1d20+5=24) against Haboob.
  20. Scholar is in her tiger form, so: Enhanced Strength 12 (total 26 (+8)) [12PP]; Leaping 1 (x2 distance) [1PP]; Speed 2 (25MPH) [2PP]; Super-Senses 2 (low light vision, scent) [2PP], Stealth +8r (bonus + 10) [2PP], No Hands [-4PP] (15/15PP) Stealth and Notice (1d20+10=23, 1d20+4=16) Skill Mastery lets her get an auto-25 for Knowledge [Technology]
  21. Equinox (2) Scholar (1) GM (1)
  22. Jeni shrugged. "Where does honour get you? Probably better to win underhandedly than die on the moral high ground. I can shut down their main reactor easily, if someone can get me on the ship." The alien woman grinned broadly. "Just keep his attention on this ship, I'll figure out my way through his, and destroy the reactor so he can't deploy his weapons against us. Which means, if all works well, he'll be unable to continue with his plans, and unable to stop up apprehending him." She took a quick look around at the group. "Any objections?"
  23. Equinox took a couple of swift steps, shouting to the soldiers, "Get out of here, we'll deal with the superpowers!" She waved a hand at the ground and flew upwards in a whirling corona of windswept dust, billowing upwards into the sky, coat flaring around her. She levelled one finger towards the woman phasing through the wall of the truck, the other hand clenching and unclenching in a grasping motion. "Kinesi!" she said, a beam of white light shooting forth to envelop the ethereal woman. It briefly grasped purchase, and Equinox drew the clenching hand backwards, but without the aid of her wand to focus the spell, her tenuous grasp of the woman broke and failed to drag her from the truck.
  24. Move Action: Fly upwards towards the truck, until about 100' away and 50' up in the air. Standard Action: Telekinesis! Attempt to grab Emettu with magic... Roll to hit with magic, roll to grapple (1d20+11=30, 1d20+14=15) Well. Hero Point! Re-roll. Grapple re-roll! (1d20+14=17) Add on 10, and that's 27. Assuming this succeeds, Extra Effort for an extra action, and: Surge: Use the Throw action to 'toss' Emettu towards the ground beneath Equinox, so more of a telekinetic Pull than a Throw... So, 5 -> 4 HP, and Fatigued at beginning of next round.
