  1. Jeni Frey casually wandered though the West End streets, seemingly oblivious to the violence and theft the area was known for. Her black bodyglove was embossed along the arms, legs and chest with silver lettering of an alien language, and she had a leather jacket draped over her shoulders like a cape. Turning a corner, she noticed the fight about to break out. What are they wearing? She just smiled ruefully and kept walking towards them at a leisurely pace, smiling all the while.
  2. Current Shapeshift configuration: none.
  3. ... I am hoping against all hopes that this is of X2 quality, not X-Men Origins: Wolverine quality.
  4. DC 29 Extra Effort'd, Power Attack for 2'd Blast of fire (1d20+7=13) Oh, sod off. Hero Point. Needs more fire (1d20+7=8) ... 18? Equinox has 1HP, and will be Exhausted next round.
  5. "And I see that thou art a fool," snarled Equinox, casually throwing off the mental blast, her mind solid against the attack. "For if you seek to teach us that will gives us power... what loathsome wretch would seek to have us bend that will to breaking him?" She let herself hover up off the ground slightly, drawing energy from all around her into her wand. "For it matters not how valid thy argument is. For what it boils down to is you killing, lying and ultimately... being broken, beaten in a parking lot, spouting words trying desperately to postpone thy doom. It didn't work. You refused to come quietly. And thus... PYROFUEGO!" Fire blossomed not just from her wand, but from every pore of her body, Equinox briefly resembling a miniature sun as she expelled all the fiery power she could. Ozone burned, smoke spiraled out every direction and the air shimmered from the sheer heat.
  6. Scholar wants to take a look at your weird Earth superstitions.
  7. "Hmmm... that does sound awful," agreed Collins, "I have once seen something similar. Someone once bound a plague demon into a wolf, which ran riot, biting and tearing at people all around. But it didn't spread lycanthropy. In fact, it was bringing back the Black Plague. I don't know who stopped it, but by the end, all that was left of it was a burned skull on the gates of a nearby town." "Of course! In fact, I have some rare originals upstairs if you'd care to see. There is a little-known painting by Van Gogh, most are unaware of its existence. I own it, naturally." The vampire looked deeply pleased with himself, then jumped slightly as a bell was rang. "Ah! Dinner! Would you all care to follow me?" He led the group to an exquisite dining room, with a huge mahogany table, laden with plates, glasses and bottles of wine, spirits and some darker, redder liquid. "Sit down, sit down!" pronounced Garfield as he seated himself at the head of the table.
  8. My Will be done (1d20+12=26)
  9. "Oh yeah, I read that Earth has a huge... superhero?... tradition" exclaimed Jeni enthusiastically, choosing to ignore references to these "poking men". What uncouth insults they use... "On my world, we didn't really have much in comparison, but for a team of superpowred operatives we called the... I think it translates roughly as Chrononauts." She smiled ruefully. "They're gone now. I was the trainee, which is why I wasn't so good with the ship. They used to call me Scholar, because I always had my head in a ..." Her sad tone evaporated in an instant. "Are there lots of you in this city?"
  10. Kaironian Physiology The Kaironian race, superficially, resemble homo sapiens, with the real differences stemming from the planet Kairos itself. The slightly heightened gravity means that physically each and every member of the race is slightly stronger and faster than a human of equivalent size and mass. Supplementing this is a bone and muscle structure slightly different from that of a human, where every protein chain is in fact five or six thinner chains, coiled around one another for maximum resilience, with the separate structures still allowing them some 'give' to avoid taking overt stress. They also seem to be born with much, much longer telogene structures, allowing for lifespans ranging up to three times the human maximum. Their internal organ and skeleton structure has some marked changes from the human norm. Their ribcage is not shaped entirely like a human's, taking the form of an interlocked cage-like structure inside which three small lungs are protected, with the heart being located in a hard-to-reach location in the centre of the three. This more spread-out skeletal reinforcement is also present to a degree in the pelvis, making it much more resilient to shattering, and also extending upwards a little to protect and support the lower intestines and bowels. The Kaironian brain structure is also slightly odd in that, rather than two halves, their brains are split into three thirds, each of which is capable to an extent of performing the other two thirds' functions. This means, that by resting part of the brain at a time and using the other two parts for cognitive tasks, a Kaironian can go for longer than humans without sleep, able to remain awake for about 21 hours before needing 4 hours of sleep (as they still possess the lower sections of the brain singularly, and are incapable of keeping them going at full function for too long). This heightened brain capacity also means that the race as a whole tends to higher intelligence and awareness simply due to higher levels of processing power. Superficially, Kaironians differ slightly from humans in terms of hair and eye colours. While skin tone is just as varied as the human race (if not more so, as their constantly lit planet has led to many having much, much darker skin than the darkest of Earth natives), eye colour tends to come in ambers, reds and blues, as well as various colours along the spectrums in between. Hair colour varies a little less, but odd hair colours like navy or scarlet are far from unknown. An odd part of Kaironian biology is an unusually high level of iron in the bloodstream. This reliance on haemoglobin is caused by a need to transport oxygen to and from three lungs, a biological quirk caused by an oxygen-rich atmosphere rendering this enough of a non-issue to get by fine. It has the side effect, however, of meaning Kaironians require a much richer in iron diet than many species. The Nitrogen Rejuvenation In an Earth-like atmosphere, such as Earth's, where the air is 75% nitrogen, a Kaironian who is grievously injured but not yet clinically dead can undergo an odd process where their body absorbs and uses this huge quantity of nitrogen to repair and replace damaged cells, often accidentally activating and deactivating genes in the process. The changes this wreaks physically, and in the brain lead to large appearance changes and personality shifts, causing the Kaironian to appear as a fundamentally different person. This process is easily identifiable by the sheer quantity of excess cellular energy brought to bear causing a green glow all over the Kaironian's skin. Additionally, when in an environment able to sustain this feat, a Kaironian's eyes will turn green due to the chemical build up. To date, only Jeni Frey has been recorded as undergoing this process. Why a spacefaring race able to experience a wide range of different planets with similar conditions have no records of this occurring is unknown. However, on Kairos itself, the very, very low nitrogen concentrations present in the atmosphere render this defence mechanism inert, rendering the question of why Kaironians are capable of doing it.

  12. "Why do you think my ship was so badly damaged?" said Jeni grimly. "Trust me, they won't follow me. They burned." A certain satisafaction entered her voice by this point. "Of course, by then it was all too late. Far too late..." "Yeah, that would help," nodded Jeni, pausing to watch four brightly coloured humanoids with antennae on their heads and screens on their stomachs with a wide grin on her face. "Ah, Earth entertainment. Anyway, lead on to this medical level, and see if we can conduct a proper assessment using your... 'technology'." The woman struggled to keep the disdain from her voice.
  13. Hmmm... good point: Blast 11 (Extras: Area - Burst [+1], Selective Attack [+1], Flaws: Action - Full [-1], Distracting [-1], Power Feats: Indirect, Progression 7 [20' radius]) [30PP]
  14. A Few Hours Later Jeni sat at one of the computer terminals in the Lab's library, flicking through various movies on an Internet video site with ear buds in either ear. She settled on a video of a kid's television program, with pink mouse-like creatures walking around on the moon. "Hmmm... such interesting extraterrestrial creatures..." mused Jeni, having even more rapidly picked up English upon access to film clips and the couple of large dictionaries on the table beside her. "Your planet is... different," said Jeni slowly. She swiveled in her chair, looking up at the assembled superheroes. Her amber eyes had started turning green, the edges of them being especially pronounced. "I'm going to need to do some sort of medical scan on myself, but a cursory check... I'm in good shape. Possibly better shape."
  15. "Actually, comparative testing in all past records has shown that Chris's speed is augmented more than superhuman. Power nullifiers turn it off, but even when it's on, he's still not superhuman compared to, say, the Raven or Bowman. A Human would theoretically be able to hit his speed," chipped in Liz as Chris turned somewhat red. "I can be faster..." he said glumly. Liz patted him on the shoulder. "Sure you will, sweetie." "Anyway, he's got a point. While it's probably more physically intensive, a lot of training is going to be less energy intensive overall. The most efficient machine mankind has is the body."
  16. Ok, apparently I forgot to spend the HP to not be Exhausted, so I'll spend that now. Then Extra Effort again! Blast 11 (Extras: Area - Burst [+1], Flaws: Action - Full [-1], Feats: Indirect [from above], Progression 5 [reduce area to 30' radius]]) [28PP] BOOM
  17. "Oh Goddess," snapped Equinox, whirling to face Leraje. "What do I need to do to shut you up?" She took a few steps towards the demon, whirling her wand in one hand even as the other traced intricate, spiralling patterns. "Demon, how many times are we going to have to beat you down before you decide to finally leave us alone? Thou art out of thy depth, and all that the power I hast available, I will use to inflict harm unto thee until you relent. Also..." "Thor! Donar! Odinson! Father of Thrud! Wielder of Mjollnir! LEND ME THY MIGHT!" She carved an arc in the air from the sky down to the ground, lightning streaking from above and towards the demon.
  18. Anyone got more to chip in before we cut to the Lab?
  19. "Hmmm... not really my style, I'd rather have something easy to move in," said Chris, gesturing to the spandex costume he still wore. "It makes it easier to dodge. But hey, if you want some nice armour, you gotta get some nice armour! Have you got a prototype or is it still in the planning stages?" "I think the best way to power it would be including some form of dynamo," mused Liz. "Sure, it'd never be enough to power a full suit, but it'd supplement the power requirements simply by using the suit. Quick and easy, once you've got the main power source nailed down."
  20. Equinox stood over Vigourie's prone form, wand still leveled at the prone man, wand smoking slightly from the sheer barrage of heat. The air reeked of flames, and the glow around her was visibly turning slightly red. "You're under arrest," she told him, flicking her wand to send white bands of force spiralling towards the liar in a mesh-like cage. "This will be the last of your crimes."
  21. Snare! DC22 Snare, PA'd for 2 (1d20+8=27)
  22. "Hmmm," pondered Equinox, "What else was there? Sorry, but I think you've demonstrated that you're not responsible enough to use any of this stuff properly." She turned to the professor. "Would you do me a favour and call the police for me. Iim afraid we're going to have to bring this young man in for now." such a waste... She shook her head sadly.
  23. Jeni hurried forward and took the three heavy pieces of equipment off the woman. Hmm... these are pretty heavy, I suppose I could figure out if my shapeshifting matrix is still functioning... She closed her eyes for a few seconds, activating a code sequence for the augmentation of muscle and bone. Instantly, she grew a good few inches as her muscles visibly swelled, letting her heft the pieces of her ship easily. I'll let them wonder for now, they didn't seem too worried about me doing it involuntarily instead of dying.
  24. "I want..." Jeni sniffed and rubbed at her eyes. "I want rest," she said resignedly. I don't even know the... Earth?... word for home. She ran her hands through her hair, glancing sideways to see its new colour, and wincing. Never liked that colour. Unsteadily, she forced herself to stand up, and forced some composure back into her expression. "Where?" Then she realised that Miss A was holding part of the chronopod's machinery. Wait... if I can use them, I could perhaps find a way to bring the ship out of the dimension it's in, and repair it! "And I want..." She struggled to figure out the word 'my', but eventually gave up and just pointed at the drives. "Want back."
  25. Jeni walked up to Jack, until she was nearly leaning right up against him, smiled sweetly... then placed her hand over his mouth. "Not moving," she told him. Grrr, the lack of eloquence available here is INFURIATING... why am I so angry? I'm not meant to be an angry person. "My species?" Ok, I think I know their verb tenses... "They all died. Ship? Well, on the upside?" Suddenly she had gained a grasp on sarcasm, looking around, and then shrugging. At which point she snarled "Confused!?" and fell to her knees, head in her hands.
