  1. John strode across the room, cane clacking on the floor as he did so. Hope no one realises it's actually a collapsible staff, but you never know nowadays. Doc probably knows. "Herr Doktor," he acknowledged with a nod. Unlike many, he actually respected Doktor Archeville, for doing all he'd done without having any superpowers. Sure, he didn't have the same skill set, but it didn't change the fact he was still a very skilled man. John held out his hand. "John Fraser, ma'am. And you are?" He was aware that, despite having tried to dress properly for the occasion, he was probably still villainously unshaven and had large bags under his eyes. He'd had a busy night the night before, but still... no sense in not keeping up appearances. He turned to acknowledge Vivian. Well, this is awkward. Also, I had no idea she was into science. "Uh, hi, Vivian. I had no idea you were interested in science, I must say."
  2. Ok, Approved. You just need one more approval, and you're good to go.
  3. Adds up. Adds up. However: Grapple with Move Object is only +18, Attack Specialisation only affects your to-hit, not your grapple roll. Knockback is, as I told you earlier, -1/-5 (Force Field) Adds up. Adds up. Ok, seriously. Dodge Focus 4, not Dodge Focus (4). And Uncanny Dodge (auditory, visual). Although I doubt he needs both. With Reflex +14, why does he not have Evasion? Ok, looks good, but just to check: you're aware he can't move his Create Object force fields, right? He'd have to stop maintaining them as a Free Action, then remake them with a Standard.
  4. Just to clarify, Freedom City is quite idealistic. As, in very much so. There are still lots of criminals, lots of gangs, and lots of crime, but you're coming across as invoking Nolan-verse Gotham, and that doesn't exist here. A lot of PCs focus on street crime, however, so I'm just making sure you're aware of this. One clarification I'd like to make: you are aware the Force Field isn't always on, right? I mean, nothing stops him from keeping it up every waking moment, but if he's asleep/unconscious, it's off, and if he's stunned, he needs to make a Concentration roll. Also, this should be somewhere in his description, but: his Force Field isn't subtle, so what colour is it? Adds up. The maths adds up, but... - His Flat-footed defence is +3, not +7. Dodge Focus doesn't apply to his flat-footed, because that's the entire reason Dodge Focus is cheaper. - Knockback should be -1, -5 with Force Field. - Please note Grapple score with Move Object - Please note Attack bonus with Move Object Please format it as: +3/+10 for Toughness. Also, you're over defensive caps. Force Field STACKS with Constitution, so Con 16, Force Field 10 is +13 Toughness. Also, as I said previously, you could probably get away spending less pp on exotic saves and buying up other traits. Adds up, but I'd advocate specializing a little. For a PL10, some of these modifiers are a tad low to be useful, especially Sense Motive. Adds up, but: - Attack Specialisation (move object) - Distract (Intimidate) - Please stop putting [] around the totals - It's Luck, not Lucky, and per house rules you can only get 3 ranks. - It's (visual), not (sight) Your formatting is really off. There's a template in the Newbie Guide which includes power formatting. For exampkle: Force Field 10 (Power Feats: Selective) [11PP] (energy, kinetic) And please leave spaces between powers, don't clump it all up. In addition: please list Extras in brackets, so Affects Others [+1], as it's unclear whether it's the version of Affects Others that lets you use it on yourself too. I'd advise against the affects others Force Field, in favour of Create Object, as Force Field breaches people's defensive caps, Create Object does not. I'd also advise not having Flight in an array, and the Selective on the Flight is doing nothing for you.
  5. Geckogirl leapt out of the bathroom, landing in a crouch upside down on the ceiling. "Listen, Network," she said quickly. "We know you were in there for a long time, but we can help you." She glanced over at Emma. "We don't want to fight you." But Network span in mid-air, lashing out with a wide arc of lightning towards the girl with a sword who'd been making fun of him. And, like a flash of lightning, he was flying out of the cafe and out into the streets.
  6. Network can't resist, and is Taunted. Geckogirl attempts Diplomacy as a full-round action, with a net -7 modifier. Attempt at diplomacy (1d20-7=11) Yeeeesh. Then Network decides to blow up Blaise, using Move-By action. He flies out of the diner. BOOM (1d20+6=22) DC 25 Toughness save, ouch. Blaise - 18 - 4HP - Unharmed Geckogirl - 14 - 4HP - Unharmed Network - 12 - NPC - Unharmed, demoralised for 1 round
  7. We've said in the past that training is not enough to qualify as Innate. Also, Innate Protection, sure, it stops stuff like Nullify. But it also stops Drain, which doesn't make sense, and it's not really enough to quibble on Nullify, as it rarely, if ever, comes up.
  8. Cassie looked back in awe, unable to speak as Emma dragged her to the bathroom. "Tha-that's Network," she managed, as Emma changed into her costume. "He was one of FORCE Ops, back in the old days." She pressed down on a pad on her belt buckle. In a flash, the nanofibre mesh began covering her whole body, leaving her mouth open so she could speak and her ponytail hanging out so it wasn't too uncomfortable under the mask. The world took on the slightest orange tint as the lenses formed up over her eyes. The full body green suit made a low humming sound as the start-up sequence initiated, system dialogs popping up in front of her eyes. As they changed, the sound of crackling electricity, shouts of panic, and the large THUD of something heavy smashing into a wall echoed through from outside the bathroom. Network apparently showed no signs of calming down. "We stop him?" "
  9. Network blows stuff up. Back to Blaise!
  10. Ok, first thing's first. Momentum is an existing PC. Sorry, but either work it out with his player (rpgronin), or alter it, but it'll be easier and less confusing to do the latter. Firstly, and foremost of all, all communication on this site is comprised of prose. While I'm being unusually verbose here in order to prove a point, when it coms down to it, what you have here still isn't a description. Use full sentences, not a few brief words. how does he use it for offence and defence? Adds up. Why is Strength so average considering his Dexterity and Constitution being at athletics level? Adds up. His flat-footed defence is +3, because even though he has Uncanny Dodge, he can still be feinted and the like. His Knockback is also wrong, it should be different depending on whether he has his Force field up. Immovable is not the only thing which affects your Knockback modifier. also, why bother with so high an Attack? He has no single target powers it'd apply to, only Area affects. The saving throws seem quite... excessive. Really, if your fortitude, reflex and will average out to 8, you're probably set. Also, you can't buy up Toughness save directly, you need to use powers. Please look at how we format it here, there's examples on the template, all other people's sheets are public, and I'll reprint here an example: Intimidate 8 (+12) OK. For skills with specific target DCs, like Computers, Disable Device and so-such, the modifiers work in steps of 5. Since you want to take 10 as often as possible, +5 Computers is just as useful as +6-+9. +10 is as good as +11-+14, and so on. I'd recommend switching them to multiples of 5. Also, why does he lack Knowledge: Streetwise? His Stealth seems a tad high (not that I object, it just took me by surprise as nothing up to this point pointed to a stealthy character), perhaps drop a few ranks there. All his ranged attacks are Area, so he doesn't need Precise Shot. You need to specify a sense type for Uncanny Dodge. Attack Focus (Ranged) confuses me, as he has no single target ranged attacks, it's not accounted for in his combat block, and generally does nothing for him.
  11. Knowledge, Initiative, Network initiative (1d20+5=23, 1d20+4=14, 1d20+5=12) Geckogirl knows who he is. OK! Have a HP for the fact they're both in their Secret identities, but no other HP because he's not acted yet. And, thus hasn't risked harming anyone yet. Blaise - 18 - 4HP - Unharmed Geckogirl - 14 - 4HP - Unharmed Network - 12 - NPC - Unharmed, but crazy
  12. OK, scene is established enough. NETWORK IS FREE! Either a History or Popular Culture check (DC20) will tell you this is the Iron Age superhero, Network. Roll initiative, but note that he hasn't actually attacked anything yet.
  13. "Um..." said Cassie, trying to approach the subject carefully and without offending her friend. "I don't think it's a case of guys being scared off my swords. They cut pretty much anyone up." She paused for a second, and frowned. "Besides, I think mom still has that electric death ray in the basement, "just in case"." It was at this point that the waitress came over with both the food, and the datapad used for paying bills. "OK," she said. "That'll come to..." She looked confused as the screen turned a brilliant neon blue. "That's weird, that's never happened be-" The datapad started glowing red hot in her hand, and she dropped it with a start. "Ow! What the frak!?" It was then that the datapad exploded in a cloud of blazing blue sparks, plastic and metal flying everywhere. But, even as it exploded, the sparks began coagulating in mid-air into a humanoid form. "FORTY YEARS!" it screeched in a voice like the crackle of electrical wires. "BUT NOW... I'M BACK!"
  14. Arrowhawk was running late. In his civilian identity, John Fraser limped in through the door at a brisk pace, clad in a pair of black slacks and a plain blue shirt. He'd eschewed a tie. He'd deliberately eschewed coming as Arrowhawk, to avoid cultivating a public persona, to not have the element of surprise ruined by having everyone know his specialties, and really to actually have a life outside Arrowhawk. But, leaning on his cane in the doorway, he wasn't particularly sure where to go first. Then he saw Vivian, apparently drinking like a fish. Oi vey...
  15. "Probably advisable, agreed Liz, leading Trevor out of the workroom and shutting the heavy door behind her. It hissed a little as she pressed a button to seal it closed. "Just a security precaution, there were a few small explosions one week and we came back to find the cheap wooden door embedded in the computer monitors." "Speaking of," she continued, leading him over to the part of the main control room where the computer was. "The mainframe is behind the screens, embedded in an extra level of metal, in case of explosion. The nine screens are capable of operating independently, but by default are all just logged in to the main profile. It's got internet, webcam, various databases, reference materials, and if I can crack the last few encryption keys, can tap into every camera in the city. As-is, all we're currently getting is the parking lot of a mall. Well, one floor of a parking lot."
  16. "Nope, that'd just be you who's fireproof," said Cassie in a perfect deadpan. "And I'll pretend you're being literal with that one, instead of pondering why on the first date." She scanned the menu again. "The Jack of all Dogs does sound alright... yeah, why not. And I'll try one of those Bolts, although odds are I'll regret it." A waitress came over to take their orders, and left them to chat while they waited for the food to get delivered. "Anyway, Em," she continued once the waitress had left. "I've got all the college girls, like you say. What about your love life?"
  17. How young looking? Because the lower age restriction's there for a reason, and making someone one age while having them look and act another isn't in the spirit of it. Ok, just realised... how is the horn Autofire? I'd just array these two. Also, I just noticed, she has Int 20. I'm not saying "no", I'm saying that's something which should probably be mentioned somewhere.
  18. Cassie tucked a few loose strands of hair behind her ear, looking noticeably uncomfortable. "She's cute, but I dunno, Em..." She trailed off, before a thought went blink in her head. "Hold on, how is the inheriting heat powers a good thing, and not, say, a 'watch out for third degree burns' thing?" She tried to move onto the next topic. "Anyway, you ready to order?" She knew Emma meant well, but she wasn't entirely comfortable with being set up with people she hardly knew. It just didn't feel right.
  19. Cassie smiled and tried to greet her friend, but ended up shaking her head. Emma reminded her of her dad when he got really excited about something. "I don't know, who did come out?" she said, raising an eyebrow. And then, knowing Emma well: "And are you going to try to set me up with them? Because I don't know if who you this is schway is going to be that attractive." She said the last part teasingly, as she mentally decided she was going to try a weird fruit drink they'd decided to call "The Bolt".
  20. The new cafe was called, simply, Heroes. And it was rather tacky. Fluorescent neon lighting lit up the outside of the building's white-paneled walls, and the seats were all faux-retro and plush red, at once too soft and too hard to sit on properly. And the tables were inexplicably in the shape of superhero chest insignia. Cassie was sitting at a table shaped like a big bird of prey, scanning over the menu as she waited for Emma to show. Sprak, but this is one frakked up menu. It had such culinary marvels as the "Jack of all Dogs" hotdog. She leaned back in her seat and sighed, reaching up to straighten up her ponytail as she did so. She was wearing a plain black t-shirt and blue jeans rather than all these weird new fashions that kept coming and going every couple of months. Especially that one with the pink fake eyelashes for men.
  21. Geckogirl [floatr][/floatr] Power Level: 8 (120/120PP) Trade-Offs: +1 Damage / -1 Attack (melee) In Brief: Gadgeteer Genius daughter of Geckoman and Spellbound Alternate Identities: Cassandra "Cassie" Kenzie Identity: Secret Birthplace: Freedom City Occupation: Claremont Student Affiliations: YF-2 Family: Chris Kenzie (Geckoman, father), Liz Lawlett (Spellbound, mother), James Kenzie (little brother) Age: 18 (DoB: December 21st, 2015) assumes thread set in September 2034 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5'6'' Weight: 140 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Brown Description: Cassie Kenzie is a chipper, upbeat girl, favoring brightly colored t-shirts and blue jeans. A smile is never far from her face, and she walks with a graceful spring in her step. She wears rather outdated (for the 2030s) square-rimmed nerd glasses, and has her hair tied back in a ponytail. As Geckogirl, her nanofibre suit expands to cover most of her body. Green metallic scales form a jumpsuit across her torso and limbs; along with yellow gloves, the palms and finger-tips adorned with small chrome studs to use her wall-crawling and electrical blasts. The chest of the suit has a large raised yellow G, much more stylised than her father's iteration of it. The mask is quite plain, covering all but her mouth and ponytail. The eyeholes are covered by a strong, orange one-way mirror to stop people seeing her eyes while simultaneously letting her see out. History: After some considerable complications due to the Gecko serum in Chris Kenzie's veins being passed to her, Cassie Kenzie was born by Caesarean just before Christmas of 2015. Seemingly inheriting her father's good-naturedness, she laughed and giggled through a childhood of her parents desperately trying to conceal the fact their daughter could wall-crawl. As she matured into a young woman, it became apparent that two things had happened. Firstly, she hadn't inherited nearly all of her father's powers. She couldn't climb walls nearly so quickly, healed much slower than him although still quite rapidly for a human, and simply lacked most of his sensory capabilities. However, she also exhibited an intelligence in line with Liz's childhood experiences. A bright child, she took to technology like a duck to water, and was soon making simply but effective gadgets and gizmos in her bedroom. However, at her father's insistence, she was regularly dragged out of her room to participate in sports with other kids, preferring gymnastics to the other sports she was made to try. While initially resenting this perceived forcefulness, she eventually ended up participating in the sport all through to the end of high school. Going to Claremont, she became part of the second iteration of Young Freedom which had formed, worrying her parents deeply, as they knew what she was getting into. Nonetheless, she prevailed, with the aid of a powerful lightweight armour she'd designed, as strong as steel but as light as leather. It augmented her powers to above and beyond normal human capability, able to lift cars, magnetically fling objects and leap great distances. Outwardly presenting a cheerful front, Cassie nonetheless felt a deep sense on discontent, and uncertainty of what she was meant to do. She enjoyed her life as Geckogirl, liked her friends, but when it came down to it, they were all dating and having fun, and she just didn't feel right about it. With the support of her friends, she finally admitted that she was homosexual and came out to her parents (who, in their words "once saw a gorilla pooping lightning bolts, lesbians aren't exactly weird or uncomfortable after that"). Feeling much happier in herself now, she has taken a gap year after graduation in order to figure out where to go next. Personality & Motivation: Even more so than Chris Kenzie, Cassie is prone to hiding unhappiness under a mask of bravado and happy-go-luckiness. Her personal problems were rarely evident to others simply because she didn't act any differently for all the stress bubbling up in her. With those she is comfortable around, Cassie is much more quiet and reserved, still willing to talk, but less liable to brag and show off what she can do. She is motivated by an upbringing by her parents which strongly epoused "doing the right thing, even if it costs you the world". As such, she is usually self-sacrificing and noble, tempered by the occasional bout of teenage selfishness and jealousy. While she knows it drives them mad, Cassie is also driven by a desire to prove to her parents that their pride in her is well-placed. She wants to be as well thought of as Geckoman, and is willing to work to do it. Powers & Tactics: Cassie, without her Geckosuit, lacks any major superpowers beyond minor increases in agility, healing rate and sense of smell. She can also, with effort, climb walls through electrostatic charge but doesn't generate enough to do it quickly or nimbly. As such, she uses her suit to overcome this limitation. In it, she is stronger than a normal human, can leap great distances and shrug off attacks with ease. In combat, she uses her formidable acrobatic prowess to fool opponents, leaping over them before hammering into them with superhumanly strong punches and kicks. Not afraid to fight dirty, and smart enough to work out how to find advantages over any foe, Cassie is nowhere near as good a martial artist as her father, but is probably a much more savvy combatant. Complications: Dependence (parental access to workshop for repairs) Prejudice (lesbian, minor) Reputation (famous predecessor) Struggling (needs more allowance!) Abilities: 2 + 6 + 2 + 10 + 0 + 6 = 26pp Str 25/12 (+7/+1) Dex 18/16 (+4/+3) Con 12 (+1) Int 20 (+5) Wis 10 (+0) Cha 16 (+3) Combat: 12 + 8 = 20pp Initiative: +4/+3 Attack: +6, +7 melee, +8 electro-blasters Grapple: +8, +14 in suit, +16 with Super-Strength Defense: +8 (+4 Base, +4 Dodge Focus), +2 Flat-Footed Knockback: -4, -0 outside armour Saving Throws: 5 + 4 + 4 = 13pp Toughness: +8/+1 (+1 Con, +7 Protection) Fortitude: +6 (+1 Con, +5) Reflex: +8/+7 (+2/+1 Dex, +4) Will: +4 (+0 Wis, +4) Skills: 64r = 16pp Acrobatics 11 (+14/+15, Skill Mastery) Bluff 7 (+10) Computers 10 (+15, Skill Mastery) Craft [Electrical] 10 (+15, Skill Mastery) Gather Information 7 (+10) Knowledge [Technology] 10 (+15, Skill Mastery) Pilot 9 (+12/+13) Feats: 10PP Acrobatic Bluff Attack Focus (melee) 1 Beginner's Luck Dodge Focus 4 Eidetic Memory Inventor Luck 2 Sneak Attack Skill Mastery (Acrobatics, Computers, Craft [Electronics], Knowledge [Technology]) Powers: 2 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 26 = 36PP Enhanced Dexterity 2 [2PP] (genetic, mutation) Regeneration 4 (bruised 1/round, injured 3/minute, Power Feats: Regrowth) [5PP] (genetic, mutation) Super-Movement 1 (wall-crawling [half-speed, lose Dodge bonus]) [2PP] (genetic, mutation) Super-Senses 1 (Scent [Acute olfactory]) [1PP] (genetic, mutation) Device 6 (Geckosuit, Hard to Lose, 35dp of traits, Power Feats: Restricted 2 [Geckoman family]) [26PP] (technological) Electrical Power Source Array 6.5 (13pp array, Power Feats: 2 Alternate Powers) [15PP] Base Power: Enhanced Strength 13 [13PP] (servo-motors) Alternate Power: Blast 6 (Power Feats: Accurate) [13PP] (electro-blasters) Alternate Power: Magnetic Control 6 (Heavy load: 800 lbs) [12PP] (magnetic generators) Enhanced Feat 1 (Quick Change) [1PP] Enhanced Wall-Crawling 1 (total 2 ranks [full speed, retain Dodge bonus]) [2PP] Leaping 4 (x25 distance, Power Feats: 1 Alternate Power) [5PP] (leg-servos) Alternate Power: Super-Strength 2 (Heavy load: 520 lbs, 1.5 tons with Enhanced Strength) [4PP] (servo-motors) Protection 7 [7PP] (nanofibre mesh) DC Block: ATTACK RANGE SAVE EFFECT Unarmed Touch DC16 Toughness (Staged) Damage Unarmed Sneak Attack Touch DC18 Toughness (Staged) Damage Enhanced Strength Touch DC22 Toughness (Staged) Damage Enhanced Str Sneak Touch DC24 Toughness (Staged) Damage Blast Range DC21 Toughness (Staged) Damage Blast Sneak Attack Range DC23 Toughness (Staged) Damage Abilities (26) + Combat (20) + Saving Throws (13) + Skills (16) + Feats (13) + Powers (36) - Drawbacks (0) = 120/120pp
  22. *rolls Sense Motive for sarcasm* :P
  23. "Probably isn't but I suppose I'll have to put up with it," grinned Liz, leaning back against the workbench. "So, I suppose you'll be wanting a tour of the base, then? Apart from a couple of places where you need to watch your step or get sucked into a giant puddle of mud, it's perfectly safe." She frowned momentarily. "Or that weird bit in the bathroom which keeps throwing up electric sparks when you flush the toilet. Never did figure that out."
  24. "That'd work," conceded Equinox. "But bear in mind, they invited us to dinner. If they wanted to pursue us, rip our skins off and devour us like a cheap taco, they would have tried to do so." She frowned. "Vampires aren't stupid. They won't try anything blatant."
