ic Spring Break 1: To Remove is to Improve (IC)
Avenger Assembled replied to Ari's topic in The Realms Beyond
Up in the sky, after another robot was split in half, Angelic paused, floating in midair along the magnetic field of this world. After a moment, Crystal-Gazer's cellphone beeped with a text from Eira. HAVE BEEN CONTACTED FOR AERIAL HUNT. ROOM FOR MORE. A hard smile crossed Eira's chrome lips as she took the third robot by piercing it through with her wings, then kicking it away with one quicksilver-fast foot. NOT BAD.- 42 replies

That's enough to find where they've wandered - and you're easily strong enough to pick them up and move them back. Just be careful you don't break anything! =D

Eira gave Kam a smile that could have curdled milk. "If I had a heart, it would be breaking. But Kam is right, Ben is very good with computers," she added with an agreeable gesture Ben's way. "Beowulf is a classic Anglo-Saxon epic poem," she explained to Miurne. "One of the stories it mentions is the people born in shadow, who carry it with them all their lives. When I heard your name, it seemed a natural connection." She peered into Miurne's eyes for a moment, then shrugged. "I am Swedish myself. Do not feel like an outsider. America can be a strange place even when you leave out the superheroes." With that she walked over to Pan, shooting a look Rebound's way as he arrived without saying anything. When she was close, she raised her eyebrows at Forever Boy - an unspoken question.

Eira looked the girl up and down, a thin smile playing on her black-painted lips. "Everyone has done something," she said, confidence cool in her voice. She returned Ben's fistbump with the nod of a lady greeting a peer, then returned her gaze to Miurne. Her eyes focused on her as she quoted in a low, throaty whisper, "...the shadow-cloaked shape comes gliding, black under the clouds....hello. Do you shake hands?" Eira's grip was firm, a little bony, and distinctly cooler than human flesh typically was in Miurne's experience. "Welcome. We do not bite. Not even him," she added, jerking a thumb at Ben.

At that moment, a large grizzly bear emerged from behind a tree, walking on two legs like it owned the place. "Roar!" it declared what was clearly faintly accented English, waving its arms and looking mildly annoyed - then vanished abruptly in a faint shimmer of light. Revealed inside was a girl of average height and build, wearing an oversized black T-shirt emblazoned with a roaring wolf wearing a monk's robe, glaring down at a group of monks battling a demon before a burning Gothic cathedral. The shirt's letters declared the word POWERWOLF in a large font. Eira had bright blue hair and a silver ring in her nose today, matching the pentagram earrings she wore. "Wretched thing," she cursed, tapping at the back of her hand. Seeming to catch sight of the group for the first time, she gave Pan a look that seemed to beg commiseration. "This stupid thing! I will just use a recorded call next time...oh, hello Synapse," she said, shooting a smile at Dee and using supernames around unfamiliar faces. After a moment she focused in on Miurne and seemed to be staring right through her, pale blue eyes unfocusing. "I...don't know you," she said, her English definitely distinctly accented. "You are a new student. I am Eira Katastroff Natt Och Dag."

The train crew (and some of the cows) were surprised at the arrival of Veronica and Legatus, some of them backing away, others muttering curses and prayers that Veronica's power let her understand. These people had watched (or heard the news) of course, but they typically didn't get many superhumans here in the heart of Brazil, so far from the big cities. Veronica's power knitted up the wounds of the injured man, leaving him bruised and battered but very much alive and able to walk around. After the usual round of thank-yous that typically came from the use of the healing power of the amulet, they were mostly left with Joao Francisco - the man they'd rescued from his injuries. "Damn thing came out of nowhere," he told Veronica. "It just...stumbled right out of the forest, tore up the track, then went through on the other side, shouting like it was from some old movie. If we'd been going any faster, I'd be a dead man right now. As it is, I might have lost my leg if not for you." Meanwhile, one of the trainworkers turned out to speak English - and he communicated with Legatus that they had a problem. Quite a few of the cattle had roamed off in the wake of the crash, and not only were they valuable but they certainly didn't belong here in the middle of a natural environment that was not their own. Could the Teen of Adamant offer them a little assistance in cattle-finding?

Inside the bathroom, Eira looked at the sensor she'd extended through the security system, her eyes narrowing as her cheeks flushed red. With a moment's hesitation that would have been barely perceptible to anyone actually sharing the bathroom with her, Eira pushed open the door and walked out to rejoin her classmates. With all the attention on Erik and Talya, she was able to get close to them before they noticed her - amid quite a transformation. The dark heels were short (as she had little practice with them), but her dress was sparkling silver that began below her neckline and stopped above her knees, baring her pale arms and legs (the latter underneath what looked like sparkling nylons.) There was a black hat perched on top of her head, and in her hand (both of which were covered in silver gloves) was what looked like an old-fashioned walking stick, its head glittering brass. She was wearing what looked like a silvery wrap around her torso, until she opened it up and revealed the gossamer crackles of her wings. She looked Pan in the eye - and snorted laughter through her nose as she stage-whispered, "Fooled you! It's dance fighting!"

"There is nothing in this town I am interested in eating," said Eira with a smirk as she tossed her cowboy hat onto the desk, parking her traveling bag underneath it. She didn't seem terribly interested in the bed, instead parking herself in the room's chair like she owned the place. "But I saw restaurants within walking distance. You could probably-" She looked at Danica, eyes moving in the direction of her Segway, then back to her, and shifted in her seat - then looked like she was about to say more when Yves stuck her head in. "Is AEGIS going to feed its 'junior auxiliaries,'" she asked archly, "or are we poor teenagers going to have to spend our pocket money?" She turned her pockets inside out as if she was a traveling hobo and cocked her head as she looked at Yves.

"There's a thought," said Watchdog. She had taken the opportunity, among other things, to take Pan's measure - or as much as she could, anyway. I'm not gonna run. He's not gonna run. So we're gonna run. She reached into her belt, grabbed a grenade, and threw it at the roof of the cave. The sticky stuff on the back of the beeping red plate hit the rock and stuck there, beeping with a red flashing light that both accelerated rapidly. "Better make me fly!" she told Forever Boy, standing there as if she had all the time in the world.

Avenger Assembled replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Character Building
Paragon (not a Kara build - I just like the picture!) PL: 7 (105) Abilities: 4 + 4 + 4 + 0 + 4 =16 STR 30/14 (+10/+2) DEX 14 (+2) CON 30/14 (+10/+2) INT 10 (+0) WIS 14 (+2) CHA 10 (+0) Notes: This may not sound impressive but it's good enough. In a PL 7 game, a character who can do +10 damage without Power Attacking is an unstoppable monster that opponents at her PL are going to have a devil of a time fighting. Combat: 4 + 4 = 8PP Init: +2 ATK: +2 (+4 Melee) DEF: +4 (+2 Dodge +2 Base +1 flat-footed) Grapple: +6/+23 Knockback: -10/-1 Notes: She's not very fast and she can't fight at range - but who cares? If she grabs someone at her PL she is going to grapple them; if they punch her, she is probably going to suck it up. Saves: 0 + 3 + 3 = 6PP TOU +10/+2 (+8 Enhanced Con, +2 Con, +7 Impervious) FORT +10/+2 (+8 Enhanced Con, +2 Con) REF +5 (+2 Dex, +3) WILL +5 (+2 Wis, +3) Notes: She's good at one thing but she's good at that thing. Don't worry too much about that low Reflex save - she can break her way out of most Snares near her PL. With Impervious 7, she can tank just about anything short of heavy weapons without a roll. Watch out when the local mobsters bring in the big guns, though. Skills: 24R=6PP Diplomacy 8 (+8) Notice 8 (+10) Sense Motive 8 (+10) Notes: Blunt, straightforward paragon who can make friends by talking to people. A character like this is not going to be making a lot of skill-based rolls. Feats: 9PP All-Out Attack Attack Focus (Melee) 2 Dodge Focus 2 Luck 1 Move By Action Interpose Power Attack Notes: She flies up to people and punches them! If they're fast, she All-Out Attacks and she can hit them - if they're slow, she Power Attacks and throws punches (with a potential DC of 30!) that very few people close to her PL can suck up. She can fly in and take hits for her friends, too. Take advantage of that Luck feat. Powers: 16 + 16 + 6 + 9 + 7 + 6 = 60PP Enhanced CON 16 (to CON 30/+10) [16PP] Enhanced STR 16 (to STR 30/+10) [16PP] Flight 3 (50 MPH/500FPM) [6PP] Immunity 9 (life support) [9PP] Impervious TOU 7 [7PP] Super-Strength 3 (Effective STR 45, Heavy Load 8 tons) [6PP] Notes: Simple, straightforward, easily done. You could free up points by making the Flight-Super-Strength array dynamic, or dropping the Impervious, or dropping some of those immunities - there's no reason she has to be able to fly into space at this point. But it helps! I think this is about right for a teenage superhuman who was the toughest person in her small Kansas town (shrugging off shotgun blasts! lifting trucks! chasing speeding cars), and who has come to the big city looking to do some good. costs abilities 16 + combat 8 + saves 6 + skills 6/24 + feats 9 + powers 60 = 105 pts -
As they stepped off the ship, Eira broke away from her peers and strode out into the middle of the hangar. Once there she let the unstable molecules of her space-faring costume recede into nothingness as her skin and mechanical flesh turned transparent, revealing the chrome-steel robot underneath. When that was done, she proceeded to do something her classmates had never seen before. Closing her white mechanical eyes, she made a sound of effort, a throaty hiss, and a thin, metallic frame erupted from what had previously looked like mechanical scars in her back. Then another erupted from the other side, unfolding behind her, crackling a transformation into skeletal metallic wings covered in crackling blue electricity. With a satisfied smile just visible on her mercury-smooth face, Eira flexed her wings with a thrum as her body attuned to the magnetic signature inside the station. And then, the angelic robot took flight in front of her fellow students. She flew overhead of the group, her voice a low, throaty purr distinctly different from her usual timbre as she said, "Magnificent."

"This is not punishment," she told Davyd frankly on the way inside the building. "This is opportunity. You should appreciate it more than stupid regular gym." Eira had been smirking, that was no other word for it, all the way inside the school, staying close to Pan and shooting him knowing glances as if a big surprise was about to be unleashed. When Erik and Talya were revealed she grinned at Pan (there really was no other word for that, either!) and shot him a look that seemed to scream "See? See?" "Hello, Erik," she said with a smile bigger than her schoolmates had usually seen her use when speaking to an adult. When she saw Talya, she said seriously, "I brought my new sword and outfit, I am going to go change." And with that, she slipped away to the one-seat ladies' room at the edge of the gym, locking the door behind her once she was inside. After all, there was not going to be a need for her to use the showers unless something vital broke. With that, she began quickly pulling off her old grey sweats and looking down at the duffel bag she'd brought. Time to try it out...

Avenger Assembled replied to Ari's topic in The Realms Beyond
Angelic studied the sphere for a moment - robot reflected in the sphere, sphere reflected in the robot, in a cycle that seemed to go on forever. Then she brought her wing across the sphere in a slash, the electricity on the edge cutting the sphere along the outside like she was gutting a large fish. As it flickered and died, she hovered in place, wings curled like a falcon's, looking like she was waiting for the next one.- 42 replies

Ninja (note - this isn't a Cass build - I just like the picture!) PL: 7 (105) Abilities: 2 + 10 + 4 + 0 + 4 + 4 = 24PP STR 12 (+1) DEX 20 (+5) CON 14 (+2) INT 10 (+0) WIS 14 (+2) CHA 14 (+2) Notes: She's a tight, dextrous build - focused on physical agility above all else. Her Charisma may be a little high as built, honestly - feel free to take those four points and put them elsewhere. Combat: 12 + 8 = 20PP Init: +13 ATK: +6 (+7 Melee) DEF: +8 (+4 Dodge, +4 Base, +2 flat-footed) Grapple: +9/+15 w/Escape Artist Knockback: -3/-1 Notes: She needs a little more training before she starts engaging in ranged combat - but she's not a bad shot if she picks up a crossbow! She should stay mobile and not try arm-wrestling with any big muscly goons, but she's not totally helpless if she is caught out - especially by the PL 3-5 thugs she should be fighting. With her high initiative, she is almost always going to go first when fighting people near her level. Saves: 3 + 4 + 3 = 10PP TOU +6/2 (+2 Con, +4 Defensive Roll) FORT +5 (+2 Con, +3) REF +9 (+5 Dex, +4) WILL +5 (+2 Wis, +3) Notes: Again, a hyper-focus. She'll be in trouble if she gets maced or runs into a mind-controller - which is just right for a street-level character. Those things _should_ be serious problems. Skills: 64R=16PP Acrobatics 10 (+15, SM) Bluff 8 (+10) Climb 8 (+10, SM) Escape Artist 12 (+15, SM) Language 1 (English, Base: Japanese) Notice 6 (+8) Sense Motive 7 (+9) Stealth 10 (+15, SM) Notes: If she's hanging around with a detective, those skills haven't really been passed on yet. But she's very fast and very sneaky, and can let herself into a lot of places. Except for locked ones - but that's what the katana is for! Feats: 21PP Acrobatic Bluff Attack Focus: Melee 1 Challenge 1 (Fast Acrobatic Bluff) Defensive Roll 2 Dodge Focus 4 Evasion 2 Improved Initiative 2 Luck 1 Hide in Plain Sight Power Attack Quick Draw [Draw] Skill Mastery (Acrobatics, Climb, Escape Artist, Stealth) Takedown Attack 2 Uncanny Dodge (auditory) Notes: The idea here is that she does lots of flips and tricks in fights before she hits people with her sword, or she sneaks up on them and hits them with her sword. Either way it'll do the trick given that she's not attack-shifted. Between catching people flat-footed and her ability to power attack, she can sucker-stab some pretty tough customers. Buy up some Luck as that PL rises! Powers: 6 + 8 = 14PP Container 1 (Clan’s Training, 5PP, PF: Innate) [6PP] Leaping 1 (x2) [1PP] Quickness 1 (x2) [1PP] Speed 1 (10MPH/100FPM] [1PP] Super-Movement 1 (Slow-Fall) [2PP] Notes: This is just so she can do standard comic book martial artist stuff - run real fast, leap hella high, fall off a cliff and land on her feet like a cat. Device 2 (Katana, 10PP, Flaw: Easy to Lose, PFs: Restricted 1 [those who can work the lock], Subtle [concealable]) [8PP] Damage 5 (PFs: Improved Crit 2, Mighty, Precise, Variable Descriptor 1 [bludgeoning/piercing/slashing]) {10/10} Notes: If you're playing a martial artist, they should have a cool signature gimmick like a power punch or a cool weapon. The Variable Descriptor represents cutting people with the blade, stabbing them with the point, or punching them with the hilt/smacking them with the blade. In my mind this scion of the Katanarchists (Freedom City's Hand/Foot expy) ran away with her signature sword rather than submit to her family's brutal regime. Now she wages a one-woman war defending her home neighborhood from scum and low-lifes, worrying always that someone more powerful is going to come and track her down... costs abilities 24 + combat 20 + saves 10 + skills 16/64 + feats 21 + powers 14 = 105 pts

Eira took off her glasses, stared at Leroy and the others - and suddenly burst out laughing. "Ha-ha-ha! What a group we are!" She made a little gesture and suddenly her skin seemed to fall away in a shifting pattern of transparency, transforming her into a silver-chrome version of herself that gleamed in the light of the beach like a mirrored statue. She reached up and undid her dress, letting it fall away to the sand and revealing she really was all robot in this form, minus a skirt of extended metal around her waist. "I am going in the sky." She arched her back as metallic wings emerged from slits in her back, blue-white electricity crackling on them as they unfolded. "Call me when we make a decision." The air around her rippled visibly as she bonded to the magnetic field of the planet - and then with a downward stroke of her wings, she took to the sky - Angelic.- 42 replies

April 2020 Two weeks to prom ...Det, sa Peter till Wendy, var vägen till Neverland; men även fåglar som bär kartor och konsulterade dem i blåsiga hörn kunde inte ha sett det med dessa instruktioner. Peter, du förstår, sa precis allt som kom in i hans huvud... "Yes, I, hmm, know people at Archetech. And HAX." said Eira archly to Kam, turning from where she sat besides Pan to speak clearly to the Dakanan teen. "Archetech gives you the strength and power of a great corporation, with a mastermind as its leader, while HAX has a more...intimate atmosphere. Fewer limits at one, more good friends at the other, yes?" She smirked at that, leaning back with her hands on her lap as if she'd said something very clever. ...of course - I am not a fool. But still - just imagine what it would be like. We are here - I will see you soon VINCE... When the Claremont van stopped in front of the dojo, Eira stepped out, duffel bag slung over her shoulder, in her grey sweats and white sneakers looking ready for an informal workout. This was technically a gym elective, something that got them all out of playing "Quidditch - but with POWERS!" - and it promised to be an interesting evening.

"Oh, you are Eira's friend!" said Tarva warmly. "I'm so happy to meet you." She smiled at Eira and murmured, "You're certainly doing well for yourself." "Things are not like that," said Eira firmly, blushing in her cheeks and across the parts of her chest exposed by her suit. She really did have a very pale complexion. She patted the dog's belly, smiling at Pan. "These are the only dogs I like," she said, "so I visit them when I can. Even if they are great stupid beasts, yes!" She scratched behind a black ear, earning her happy kicks from the dog she and Pan were petting. She looked up as Mia disappeared - but then down at the dog and Pan. "I am glad you like them."

Run him over! Ashley shook her head as she zipped through the crowd, pulling her helmet on as they went. What she wanted to tell Fa'Rua was to drive somewhere out of the city where nobody would know who they were and she could get a PI's license, but haha she only had fantasies like that once or twice a week, she could put off indulging them for a little while. "Davyd's a good kid," she said, "but if he thinks he killed a man, he's going to run right to Summers and tell her everything." And then she's gonna laugh right in my goddamn face. "So we've got to catch him and tell him it wasn't what he thinks." She wrapped her arms around the holographic Fa'Rua, and if she ignored the lack of smell, it was almost the same. "He's probably too frightened to change his shape, so if you just keep it above 75MPH, we should get him!"

There were advantages to teleporting along lines of longitude rather than latitude. It was a lovely afternoon here in Mato Grasso if you didn't mind being in the middle of a devastated forest. This was the cerrado, a high savanna dotted by forested rivers, and the trail of the Centuritron was visible enough - Veronica's teleportation had put them right down in the middle of what looked like a giant-sized footprint. But they weren't alone. Peering over the top of the small depression where they'd landed was a big brown cow with a hump on its back and short curved horns. It studied them with a cow's black eyes and mooed tentatively at them, a moo answered by a great many more! A quick reconaissance by Legatus showed them that there were many cows milling around, and others seriously injured or on the ground alongside a partially-wrecked train! As near as they could tell, the train had hit tracks damaged by the passing robot and run off them. It had gone slowly enough to avoid real catastrophe, but the damage was still serious - there were wrecked cars and wandering cows everywhere, and humans milling about trying to maintain some kind of order. The locomotive was visibly smouldering, and there were injured among both human and cattle.
