  1. Go ahead and post yourself doing that, ZB, then I'll take over.
  2. Wow! Judy replied, throwing in a squeeing face for good measure. She smiled, her face lit only by the phone in her dark room. I can't believe u saw a real alien! She started wondering if that alien would recognize her species, a wondering that made her insides twist enough that she hastily typed some more. I'm glad there are nice aliens here. There, that's not really a bad lie, is it? She reached up and brushed her hair out of her face, then went back to typing. Freedom winters are too cold! she echoed Danica, an emoji with an icicle on its nose to support her words. Summer was too cold here I hardly felt it. She hummed, then said, Did either of u hear anything from Leroy? He didn't call me all summer!
  3. You do it! Go ahead and post.
  4. You can just roll INT - or even better, just Notice.
  5. Judy hesitated for a moment, her brows furrowed, as it occurred to her that it was entirely possible she'd never see Corinne again after this summer - or, worse, that the next time she saw Corinne her friend would know she'd been lying to her for a whole year. This is my last chance. "...okay," she said suddenly, "Ah'll do it." She shot a glance at Ashley, as if expecting her plans to come to an abrupt end. "...I'm not going to stop you, Judy," said Ashley, removing the scowl from her face by sheer force of will. "But if they serve drinks, you're getting your hand stamped. And if I see anybody dealing or getting high, we're gone. That goes for you, too," she added to Corinne, "we're not getting in trouble over something stupid when there's a war on crime to fight." "Well...all right then!" said Judy after a moment's hesitation. "Ah don't really have any clothes that are good for dancing, though..." she said, looking down at herself.
  6. When the groom arrived, there was no particular fanfare (as had been the request of the bride.) Steve simply appeared in the doorway and hesitated briefly against this final obstacle, hands held levelly at his side, where a simple gold band glittered now on the left. Tall, dark, bald, and scarred, Steve was dressed in a subdued fashion for a man recently married. He looked as much like a well-dressed man on the street as was possible, given what he was. In a dark grey suit that was almost silver with a patterned tie made striking by his coloring, he overcame his brief moment of uncertainty and stepped inside. His face was set in lines of both anticipation and satisfaction - a soldier who'd won one battle but was now faced with a struggle anew. For just a moment as the glass doors swung open, it looked as though he'd arrived alone - surely his new bride hadn't...?
  7. Initiative is still probably what you want here folks - and you should do that roll when you get the chance, alder.
  8. Having been working at her workbench, Wadjet spun around and leveled her gun at the dog's face, biting back a scream of surprise when it spoke. She swore in Spanish, under her breath, trying not to wake the kid up. "Ahh, better not," she said, "she's indisposed. You know how it is." She's probably asleep in front of $(I(ng Matlock again...wait a minute. She smiled at the dog, showing teeth, and grabbed her mask. "I'm Wadjet," she said, "the Lady's Serpent. Tell me where the Lodge is and I'll meet you there." She'd heard about the vampire attack when Anna had returned with their groceries. I'll leave a note, she thought, taking up a pad to do just that.
  9. I had some very nasty remarks ready if any of these kids gave you trouble, too. I guess I'll save those for a rainy day. Richard smiled at Paige, much more broadly inside his mind than on his face. The idea that her father's eugenic legacy was sitting on the ash-heap of history was one of the more satisfying thoughts he'd had in a good long while. Out loud, he offered, "No offense, but even Mach 3 is going to take you four hours to cross the Atlantic." He wasn't a math guy but he'd done a lot of time/distance calculations in his life. "I can get four people there in an hour, or two in twenty." He considered for a moment, standing up. "Listen, if I'm going and Hologram is staying, why don't we have Facs Machine and Triple Threat stay here too, and I run out with Magic Lady, Archer, and Miller High Life." That still seemed like a hell of a lot to him but what the hell he was just their ride. "That way you're our backup, Snake Man," he offered Black Mamba with a grin. "We can scout the place out and let you jump in on your zipline or something as we kick in the door."
  10. A rattling noise came from inside Sea Devil's armor. "And your hair is very interesting!" she croaked, figuring that was a safe enough compliment."But we need to take these small things somewhere safe. I can take things quickly but it might frighten them, because of the screaming mouths." Am I sharing too much? Maybe I am. "The motorcycle makes loud noises like the ones they make. Maybe that will help." Outside, exultant at what they'd found amid the wrecked neighborhood, she raised her trident to the city-dappled sky overhead and made a declaration. "IN STRANGE AEONS - EVEN DEATH MAY DIE!" She sounded very pleased with herself.
  11. Judy tapped her fingers on the side of her phone for a moment. While she was waiting for a response from Lulu, she held the phone up to her face and flipped it around for a selfie. Okay, turn off the location data, already did that - shouldn't show any traces... She took a picture of herself, smiling at the camera, a flash in a dark room that showed mostly her face framed by long dark hair with a glimpse of pillows and headboard behind her. She started a new message, including first Lulu, then after a moment's thought her other friend who she was reasonably sure was awake at 2AM on a Saturday. Mostly because where she was, it wasn't 2AM or Saturday at all. But does Danica even have a phone? Hey guys! Are you ready for summer to be over? (this is Danica, BTW, Lulu)
  12. "Ah, then you hadn't heard." Dalekos looked downcast for a moment, then said, "Atlantean blood has been spilled, my lady. A raid by the Deep Ones - our good scientists and scholars slain, their children stolen for fell purposes. Myself, my soldiers, and the Stylani here," he touched Artificer on the shoulder, then his father, "are all that stand between a half-score of our children and unspeakable tortures. But now we have the might of Oceanus on our side." He gave Thaelia a hard smile, then said, "The sensors in my watercraft were able to pick up a blood spoor leaving this facility behind. If you would honor us with your presence, my lady, we can show them Atlantean justice. Wouldn't you prefer that, young Heroditus?" he asked of Artificer. "I think you'll find it a more satisfying hunt than anything you'll find in here."
  13. The spectral mother cat, if it that is what it was, slumped down onto its forelegs as it watched Corona and the kittens with big, shimmering eyes. With almost imperceptible slowness it began to fade away, first its colors washing out, then what details existed, then finally its outline faded too. The three heroes were alone now in the deserted neighborhood with the three kittens and the ruins of the broken house. "I don't understand what is happening," croaked Sea Devil, "but...we need to take these small things where they will be safe." She was wondering if they should eat them at this point, but being the first person to suggest that would make everyone around her angry!
  14. "Oh, well, I'm not on the political side of government," said Johnson, a little embarrassed. "But I'm sure he'll be interested in making sure you have a strong relationship with the administration in the years to come. Maybe some photo-ops, some White House visits, that sort of thing." He shrugged, then gave Monica a serious look. "So what do you say? Shall we start working for Section 42 for you and your family?"
  15. @olopi Based on your Discord rolls: This seems not necessarily suspicious but a little odd. Monica is a queer Latinx and an illegal immigrant to the United States. The Cahill administration isn't as actively hostile to those things as the Trump administration - but it's not exactly _for_ them either.
  16. The sudden confusion down below turned out not to be a discovery that Heroditus had broken his leash. "What a pleasant surprise!" Dalekos was fuming as Heroditus and his father arrived almost simultaneously back at the main control center. Heroditus just had time to note the distinctly haunted look in his father's eyes as Dalekos said, "Stylani, we are honored by a visit from Princess Thaelia herself. I am sure her arrival will only serve to help us capture the monsters responsible for this attack. If you'll join me?" And so it was that, after being reassured by an Atlantean soldier that the military had this situation well in hand, Princess Thaelia was ushered into the airlock to greet one of the highest-ranking officers in the Atlantean military at a military installation with which she was not familiar. Dalekos saluted her in military fashion, hand to his armored chest, then out again. "My lady! You honor us with your presence. Have you come to join the hunt?"
  17. Wadjet glared for just a moment (her face hidden behind her mask) - but then went for the larder, making sure that Merge Trois went in first. Wonder if she's going to pull her duplicate out and then set the place on fire, she thought as she took shelter inside the pantry. She found herself more intrigued than concerned by the idea.
  18. Y'all may want some initiative. @alderwitch, give me a Knowledge Arcane or Theo/Philo roll here while you're doing that.
  19. The tiger bared its teeth at Facsimile, delight burning in its eyes, and began slowly advancing on him with a predator's casual ease. It was painfully clear that whatever was about to happen, the tiger was going to enjoy every minute of it. "Run home little princess," it growled in accented English. There was definitely something suspicious about this tiger...
  20. I'll go ahead and wait till you guys can move the fight a bit further forward, even if it's just a round or two.
  21. That is an excellent idea - let us know where you need Richard and Paige to go, Shofet - it seems to make sense to send Fast-Forward to Belgium (especially since he can just take everyone else there) and he and Paige can communicate instantly across the ocean.
  22. All right, I'll put opening VB up on the to-do list.
  23. Go ahead and make your posts; take your low rolls into account when writing up your actions. I'll write up the consequences.
  24. I'll get in there tonight.
