Aquaria was about to try and modulate her voice before everything seemed to go crazy. "Oh no!" Sea Devil bellowed. "His hand!" There didn't seem to be any blood and he did not seem to be in any pain but she was almost certain that was not supposed to happen. "Quick," she urged Hypno-Hippie as she raised her trident, the black undersea metal glowing with the energized power of her Spectrum Knight armor in a color that gleamed opalescent green and blue and colors beyond the range of human vision. "Hold it back and I will burn it there!" she said, forgetting the word for solder in her surprise. This was clearly not the monster that haunted Jessie in her still-sporadic nightmares, and they had to fix him before he broke further. Perhaps he was decaying where he stood - a terrible fate indeed. It is because they do not respect their dead, she thought sadly.

Sea Devil looked at the foul-smelling Surface-Man and snapped her suit shut before she could catch more than a whiff. Pfagh! Everyone here is so disgusting! From inside her armor came a distinctive, amplified booming bass. "I am Sea Devil!" she croaked loudly enough for the others to hear, and perhaps even people outside of the graveyard's environs. "Why are there so many dead things that move here?" she asked Lucy and Dead Head. It was hard to tell through that electronically modulated voice, but she sounded more baffled than afraid. "Are any of you the kind that eat meat?" she added suspiciously. She had heard about those - and knew how to deal with them. As Hypno-Hippie approached, she waved her way and said, "These two are dead!"

Sea Devil exhaled violently, a loud croak that bellowed freely through the night, instantly recognizable as a Deep One's call to any who'd fought in the invasion of some years earlier, and stamped on the ground. "Coax! Coax! Pfagh!" She peered at Revenant with her big bulging eyes and croaked "There are many dead things here that are moving. Are you a bad one?" she asked, her voice a booming, echoing bass from inside her passive throat. She had met walking dead Surfacers who were friendly enough, but she also knew that when they rose they often were possessed with terrible hungers. This is why one takes the flesh from corpses, to make sure they cannot be inhabited! she thought to herself. While they talked, she tried to get a better look at the other figure, his eerie light covering him as he went. "You are not like the other one." she added, pointing in that one's direction.

Comrade Frost points upward with his AP: Damage 12 (thermovorous storm, Extras: Alternate Save [Fortitude], Area [General, Cylinder], Flaw: Action [Full]) {24/24}! If I recall correctly, that's a DC 22 Reflex save and DC 27 Fort save, depending.
-
Sea Devil fearlessly landed in the middle of the graveyard, shivering a little at the eerie place. It wasn't that she expected it to be haunted by the souls of Surfacers (if there were such things, she thought guiltily) but she would never get used to their custom of simply throwing the bodies of the dead inside the cold dry earth and leaving them to decay. She sniffed the air, found her suit too clogged from the bass she's taken earlier that night to smell anything, then rolled back her helmet. She blinked a few times as she looked around the cemetery, the darkness of the surface nothing before the power of her eyes, nose, and tongue. She inhaled deeply, a powerful snort from wide nostrils, and padded forwards on her armored feet, dropping prone as she went to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of this place.

Sea Devil bent her knees and kicked upwards, her armored fingertips catching onto the ceiling overhead. She scuttled forward, fast and inhuman, moving with a grace and speed underwater that made her native-born element perfectly clear. She got close to the squid leader and stabbed downward with her free hand, the sharpened tips of her trident scoring against his flesh. There was alien blood in the water now and she gave a low menacing thrum in the back of her throat that carried to her three companions. The look on her face was hard for the humans to read but they could see the wide, staring eyes, and hear the snap of jagged teeth from inside her armor. She gave another thrum, and kicked her feet against the surface above her head. They had thought to trap her - but now they were the ones trapped with her, and her anger!

Lady Horus switches her Super-Speed array to Teleport 3 (300 ft) (Extra: Accurate, Affects Others, Flaw: Short-Range Only, PF: Turnabout) {10/10}. She grabs Dr. Thorne and they teleport together into the room Cultist 2 is guarding. Once there, she stabs him in the back as hard as she can. http://orokos.com/roll/715247 = 19 If that hits him (especially flat-footed from the surprise teleport) that's a DC 29 Toughness save.

Sign Aquaria up!
-
Hey, think Aquaria could have an HP for the betrayal of her aquatic 'friends'? =D In this close space, most of Aquaria's Area Damage effects won't help - as they are deliberately not Selective. So instead she leaps up onto the ceiling and becomes prone - since she has the Prone Fighting feat, this means characters using ranged attacks are at -4 to hit her. She then scuttles up to the squid leader and stabs down at him with her trident. 14 Ridiculous! (Unless you think the unexpected manuever rendered him flat-footed!) Anyway, here's a roll with HP. - 23

Her eyes wide, Judy fluttered her hands over her stomach for a moment. "Let's-let's do the back gate, but we've gotta be invisible when we get there," she told Pan firmly. "Ah cannot be seen sneaking out of this school." Despite her words, she was excited, and looked it as they made their way across campus. Distracted as she was, it was easy to let herself listen, and she kept a running tab on security systems as they went. "No alarms anywhere," she offered quietly as they made their way past classroom buildings, "nobody's scrambling anything..." They knew by now that the radio signals that crisscrossed campus, and for that matter all of Freedom City, were music to the radio-bound teenager's ears. "Ah think we're doing it!" she offered excitedly as they got to the back gate, which sure enough was open as the garbage crew bandied words jovially with some of the campus groundskeeping staff. "C'mon, Pan!" she said excitedly, her eyes shining. "Make it happen so we can get out of here!"

(Because if anyone is normal, it's the character who has spent decades of their life working for a black-ops super-agency - but never mind!) Obviously there are plenty of ways to build a character like this. I've gone with a quiet, friendly type who can face down bad guys fearlessly, pull out the latest invention the boys at the lab whipped up, and (spoilers) recover from getting stabbed to death by a god! (He had them put in some special modifications to make sure that didn't happen again with this version. How'd he get his powers - alien blood? vampire apes? drank ambrosia his friend the deity brought back from Olympus? Hard to say! Characters like this should have limited powers at best - maybe an Area Damage effect to represent earthquake powers, perhaps some limited psychic abilities, etc. Finding a balance between superhero and agent can be tough, but maybe they're a local AEGIS or UNISON agent who just has to get out there in the field. Give him a code name and a disguise (or get used to not being anywhere near the limelight) and you're probably good to go! Use that Security Clearance feat to get what you need, but don't let it make the character _too_ good at their job. This one's big weakness is that he's not much of a detective yet; that's for his friend in the tight outfit, or maybe the local caped crusader. -
Technically that should be Insidious rather than Subtle if the target of the effect doesn't notice anything, RL - but since he's an NPC, you can just say he has that feat instead!

"A ring on the robot's finger means very little," Steve agreed sympathetically. "I would rather see it on you. But..." He hesitated a moment, then said, "I...have shared my plans. For the proposal, at least." He could hardly have planned for what came after that. "And I could not lie to my friends. Not that I would not," he said, "but they would know I was lying to them." It was something he'd come to expect from the Interceptors. "I will tell them my woman and I are handling the matter privately." He knew too that if Gina went too far down this road, it would go nowhere she would like. "Let them wonder. We will have what is ours."

Judy's eyes widened for a moment, and she said, "That's...a good idea! Ah'll meet y'all outside," she offered, "Ah just need to use the bathroom first." And with that, she made a quick retreat to the ladies room where she said a little prayer, told herself she wasn't going to do anything bad, and then sent a text to her support team. GTG for a few minutes. Will come out in usual spot. Be back sooner. With her text done and the codeword part of it to assure them she was safe and well, she headed outside to join her friends.

Wadjet didn't speak - she stepped around from behind a corner and took a snapshot at the big one fighting the vampire man. It was a glancing hit, but no less effective for that, the ball exploding with a low concussion that sent the man staggering. She smiled inside her mask, reloaded, and stepped back into cover. Some days the job wasn't so bad after all.

"Well, um..." Judy twirled a finger in her long hair, then admitted, "Ah don't really know enough about Freedom City to know what's good." She thought hard about her escort - everyone was under orders to stay out of sight and stay discreet, especially after the incident at the strip mall earlier in the year. "If Ah just follow you guys to the mall, that'll...probably be okay," she said. "We just can't get in trouble," she said firmly as everybody packed up. Ashley might get fired! She wasn't actually sure if that was true, but it was something she worried about. "If we sneak out and get in trouble, Ah will never hear the end of it, and Ashley will be in mah back pocket forever." She tried to follow Danica out of the library and across campus, figuring the more experienced student knew the way, but of course that was no easy feat until the tortoise-girl got on her Segway outside . She found herself glancing around as they went, as if expecting Ashley, the headmistress, or who knew what else, to jump out of the bushes.

Steve nodded in understanding; part of growing for both of them had been learning to accept what the other could and could not do. "It can be private," he suggested. "Miss Americana will go into a retreat," which was not uncommon given the need to repair or replace the android, "and return with a husband." He had given this some thought. Considering the details of the ceremony had been a difficult question, but fortunately that was not his job to figure out. At least, not alone. "Few care who I marry. You will have a harder task than I will. Though my friends will approve." He had certainly asked enough of them for ideas. "We should discuss that," he said. "Others?" he hazarded.
-
Aquaria considered this conversation and where it was going. It was clear that this was a subject Trevor and Erin were uneasy discussing, which made sense. After all, she certainly didn't enjoy thinking about the bizarre realities of Surfacer mating, given what she'd learned from her videos and educational books. It was certainly easy to find information about it on the Internet, and for once the strange flat images Surfacers used to tell stories were completely adequate. "Yes! I should find a way to go there, and if your friend would help me, that would be good." Aquaria smiled in the Surface fashion, to show that everything was good now, which it was! "Thank you for your help. If the two of you want to do activities, the fish will be done by the time you have finished."

There was no sign of Lady Horus's imminent arrival, not even to those in the group with particularly keen senses. Just, perhaps, the faint sensation of a wind - and then the rounded ends of two glowing ankhs came together to smash him on either side of the head! The blow seemed to act like a combined concussion and electric shock, making the cultist howl and flare brilliant gold before dropping to the ground at the feet of the Sunhawk. She glowed with a brilliant solar light that contrasted sharply with their shadowy foes and shadowy circumstances, and as she raised her ankhs again she cried in a voice that blazed like the fiery rays of dawn against eternal night, "Lo! The Sunhawk cometh! Thou wilt learn the price for your madness!" Anna had not forgotten the terror of thinking that she had just had a stroke and was about to die, old and forgotten, in a Bedlam City back alley. She was going to break these sons of bitches' jaws.
