Don't forget you can spend an HP if you like, @Nerdzul!

The Spider Queen had taken some damage now between the paper and the cat claws, her giant body bleeding and bruised in several places. But she wasn't out of the fight yet. "Send all your lost toys against me!" she bellowed in chorus - "you'll never win! I'm a queen and I say it's time we DANCE!" And so she did, stamping her giant limbs in a rumble of rhythmic movement that produced a sudden fall of rocks, snow, and ice from the roof of the cave. Angelic took a big hit from a lump as big as her body that turned out to be mostly snow and ice, scrabbling her way out in moments with a snarl on her pretty face. The others all took hits too, some of them big ones - it was clear the ice cave couldn't hold out forever. "Oh dear!" called the roly-poly figure in the web. "Spider Queen, this is no way to make your children love you! You have to treat them with respect and kindness, or they'll never learn to love you back!" "Shut up!" bellowed the furious giant spider. "Angelic!" called the other elf, shooting her a misty-eyed look like a romance novel hero. "I know times were dire - so I used your transmitter-" and there it was in his free hand, beeping red at one end "to call for aid!" "Agh!" responded the furious android heroine.

Angelic, the woman of steel, faster than a speeding railgun projectile and more powerful than an electric train, faced down the giant spider and - threw a rock at her. The rock whizzed past the spider's head and buried itself in the ice wall like a hot projectile into butter, producing a throaty contralto laugh in stereo from the spider-queen. "Oh, did the little lost toy princess miss?Pathetic! Why don't you come over here and give mama a kiss-" Eira responded by saying something in Swedish that sounded truly obscene, circling behind her friends as she glared at the spider-queen.

The Spider Queen hissed as claws tore at her flesh, but didn't seem actually hurt by La Puma's blow. She grabbed ahold of the web with her front limbs, standing above all the heroes, and bellowed in a multi-part throaty contralto. "You want me to let them go, do you? Well then I WILL!" Up close, the spider-queen looked oddly - well, not humanoid, she was a giant spider after all, but the two eyes she stared at the heroes with looked like giant human eyes if you ignored the fact that they were all black. Angelic saw the spider-queen's mouth open and cursed before yelling "Cover your mouth and noses!" Soon the reasons for her warning became clear as the spider-queen vomited forth a horde of black, scuttling spiders that swarmed all over the heroes. Eira had dealt with this before and had the advantage of no access to her interior from the exterior, but the sensation of the spiders pouring over her skin was still perfectly noticeable - and she had no way of knowing how this would affect her organic teammates. Quickly, she began wiping the spiders from her face, easily hurling them aside as they failed to find purchase on her skin.

Okay, @Nerdzul, Nightscale is up!
-
She's flat-footed, and that hits! Tou vs DC 23 (she's still PL 8, right): 29 Oh no! She sprays everyone with a little effect I'm going to call Cone of Spiders! This is a general area effect so everybody roll your Reflex vs. DC 20. If you pass, roll a DC 15 Fort save. If you fail, it's DC 20 Fort. Evasion and Evasion 2 have their usual effects. Angelic is immune to Fort saves - robot!

All that training with the Patriot is paying off! La Puma Negra: 34 Spider Queen: 19 Nightscale: 11 Angelic: 11 Paper: 9

Initiative time again!

Angelic stared at the scene, running scenarios through her mind as quickly as she could. Well, the teen heroes had seen it all now - almost all of it, anyway. The association with Jultomten was there for all to see. Just keep moving and play it professional. Everything will be fine. "Father Christmas!" she called, flying up in the air, her cape blowing dramatically behind her thanks to its clever smart-fabric lining. "The heroes of Earth are here to rescue you - and your assistant!" The spider-webbed elf next to Santa gave Eira a visible double-thumbs-up; damn, why did Percy have to be so unsubtle?

The defeated ice golems went down in splashes of ice water, their fragments falling apart like so many broken toys. Angelic checked on the welfare of the teens quickly, relaxing just a fraction when she saw that La Puma wasn't seriously hurt. Okay, the ice golems were defeated, maybe all of this would go well. "We have to move quickly!" she said firmly, all but running down the icy corridor, her cape flapping in the breeze behind her. Their destination turned out to be not too far away, a big, open icy vault as big as a concert hall, with light streaming down through a hole in the ceiling above. The sky outside was a fierce shade of blue, just visible clouds fluffy white balls of cotton in the sky. The assembled heroes didn't spend too much time looking at that, though, not when they caught sight of two people trapped in the middle of the icy cave! They were caught in what looked like a giant spider's web made of enlarged white string; spread-eagled out and trapped. The first was a slim, lanky fellow in a red business suit, his pointed cap fallen away and pointed ears visible. The second was another figure in red, a familiar one, his outfit made of red and white furs from head to foot, his eyes twinkling, his dimples merry, his beard white and his belly round - and he was the one closest to the giant spider. "Oh, that's not very nice!" the big man said loudly as the man-sized spider scuttled toward him. "You'll never get anywhere by being naughty, Spider Queen!" Sure enough, the spider was clearly wearing a bright gold crown on her head. "Quiet Kringle!" the spider hissed in a voice like a giant slurping spaghetti. "As soon as I wrap things up with you, I'll head for your workshop and rule all the North Pole!"

"She's still my mom," said Ashley softly, reflectively. "But if she doesn't want to come, that's her problem, not mine. The people who matter are going to be there, one way or another." Assuming we can get the thing to go off, anyway. But that was a thought that was painful to think about; and after a lifetime of preparing herself for the worst in each and every possible situation, maybe it was okay to let herself think it wasn't going to happen. They talked about light subjects for the remainder of the meal; her extended family across Louisiana, Colorado, and beyond, and the ever-growing Espadas clan here in Freedom City, and when she could be persuaded, maybe how many kids she saw herself having. "Nothing crazy, not five, I'd never be able to work that much. But maybe just one or two. I'd like to have a boy," she admitted, "but with just X-chromosones, I guess we'd have to..." She hesitated for a minute, staring off into space, then said, "Hm. Hm. Well, that's for another day. You two ever think about having another?" When the bill came, she was briefly torn - the Patriot was paid well enough that she could easily have covered the whole meal, but government agent and part-time superheroine Ashley Tran should have let her friends the doctor and the science genius cover it.

Angelic and Puma are in melee with the golems, so go for those punches!
-
La Puma was successful - maybe more than she'd intended. The golem she struck flew apart from the strike of her claws, first decapitated, then limbs flying away now that there was nothing to hold them together. There was a splash of ice-cold water that came with the blow from what had once been inside her antagonist, the fallen ice golem's pieces raining down around her. Angelic, the most experienced of the heroes in dealing with these creatures, didn't hesitate at the sight of the watery carnage, instead throwing a punch at one of the golems that it deflected with its rifle. "They are just stop-motion spirits!" she called to the teen heroes, not wanting them to freak out over what might have looked like an act of cold-blooded killing. "You can hit them!" "And we can hit you!" As one, the golems leveled their rifles and fired, cutting through Angelic's cape but not doing any real damage to the robotic heroine. They were firing icy shards that did real damage, though, especially when one lodged itself in La Puma's calf! "Death to the allies of the Leksakdrottig!"
