  1. The Patriot walked out onto the field and waved, a carefully calculated gesture that wasn't too big or too small, too much like a salute or too much like a brush-off something that was almost a reflex after all this time. The college kid in the Comet suit got a nod, the college kid in the Flag suit got the same, and she took the ball in her red-gloved hand. If she signed it with a pen that close scrutiny would turn out to be from DR. LEO TRAN, the most successful dentist in New Orleans' Little Saigon - well, that was just a little slip-up, wasn't it? Grinning, she walked out onto the mound, waving with her free hand. She was still, deep down, a bodyguard - she'd had to keep her security detail light and made sure they were only watching her staff, and not her. She was watching the crowd, watching the field, watching the dugouts - but she was just one woman, and it was a big place. Up on the mound, she showboated just a little for the crowd, dusting her hands on her legs, miming a throw, then pointing right at the catcher's mitt.
  2. It is successful - you may describe it as such any time.
  3. https://orokos.com/roll/1018199 welp that's the end for mr bones! oh well
  4. As the movie went on, Neko gradually moved off Leon's lap to sit crouched in front of the television. She sat with her tail visible behind her, thwapping noticeably in exciting or gory scenes, huge golden eyes wide and pointed teeth bared in a smile. She was joined by several other of her cats, brown spots on white fur, each staring at the exciting scenes with looks of feline fascination. "Look at the cat! Look at it!" She laughed sometimes, a low, almost inaudible "kekekeke" that could easily have been a purr, and licked the back of her hand to run it back through her fuzzy white hair. "Get it! Get it!"
  5. Though it pained Aquaria to say it, she finished the prayer from the Atlantean's lips - but from her, it was a promise of a future retribution for the souls of the innocent Deep Ones caught in this terrible fate. "In strange aeons - even death may die!" Her trident channeled all the might of the golden sign, a flaring, searing light that blasted deeply into the shadowy form of the eldritch ghosts. She thought of those Below and those above, her eyes bulging particularly wide, her flanks heaving with suppressed fury at this unholy blasphemy. I will find your bones and break them, she promised the dead silently, hoping against hope that the act would free their trapped spirits. For the one who had done all this - well, she made no promises at all.
  6. Back into herself, Neko stood up and stretched big, digging her nails idly into a nearby tree as deeply as she could. "They ran away. Pathetic." Licking her palm thoughtfully, she added, "We don't have a way to go home without walking out. Remember the permission slips?" she asked. "Easier to find Kazra's father. Hey Englishman," she taunted, "maybe you get jungle justice, hm?" She smiled at that, showing her pointy teeth.
  7. DC23 Reflex = 25 with Evasion, she makes it!
  8. Maybe this was the end, Neko reflected, as she and Owain retreated from the drones under the cloak of invisibility he'd erected. She could hear him praying to the Christian god as they did so, leaving open the line of retreat for any fleeing civilians down into the sewers. She'd torn apart the air and summoned a creature of the old tales but it was slowly being crushed by the drones that swarmed it like so many sharp-bladed butterflies - for all that it was still certainly in the fight. She was sorry things had come to this, but she'd known she was mortal since the first time she'd licked up a man's blood. She took Owain's hand, and after a moment's thought and a smile, joined him in his prayer.
  9. https://orokos.com/roll/1016539 there's one https://orokos.com/roll/1016540 and the other.
  10. Okay: What he senses isn't really time-travel or dimensional shenanigans, but it feels like someone using these things. (i.e., it's an effect with a temporal descriptor that isn't Super-Movement: Temporal, in fact it doesn't seem to be based on movement at all. It's located in the upper tiers of the oil rig, probably at the very top.
  11. Keep chipping away with the Golden Sign! The advantage of area effects is that the thing can't hardly have a reflex save.
  12. A purring Neko closed her eyes and let herself be petted - producing an actual resonant vibration in her chest. She licked the back of one hand for a moment, then said "Alien is good. It has a cat." That was all a good movie needed anyway. As she sprawled on the couch, another fluffy white and brown-spotted cat appeared from nowhere and settled on her legs, where it promptly flopped down and made itself at home. Another walked right up to Vik and stared at her with gold eyes, licking its paw as it did so. She listened to all still, her ears twitching. She only knew the shadow-majo slightly but was struck by the thought that the girl must be very content with her new life - or very desperate. It wasn't really her business anyway.
  13. Owain casts a spell to make himself and Neko invisible, activating his Concealment power. The two of them, Neko using total defense, retreat as far as their movement speed allows towards the rest of the group. The giant steps on Madrigal. https://orokos.com/roll/1015860 = 10 seems inadequate, even though I know we're doing this as area effects anyway. Let's spend that HP Neko got. https://orokos.com/roll/1015861 17! Well it will have to do.
  14. Let's say it's Timeout, @Dracostern! And @Thevshi: While that's a bad roll, it is enough for Timeout to get an impression of some sort of time anomaly in the oil rig. This is the first time he's sensed anything like this, at least in this location.
  15. All right, @Thevshi, let's see a Notice check!
  16. "Thank you for your courteous offer," said Dalekos with a pleasant smile. "But by Poseidon's blessings, I can travel on my own." He gave an order to his men who nodded, the boat beginning a notably slower journey towards the tower. And then he rose in the air to the faint sound of the fluttering of invisible wings, previously-barely-visible sigils on his armor glowing with a power Michael and Daniel didn't recognize but could certainly feel. "Now to answer your question about architecture," he added as he flew slowly, almost conversationally over towards the Deep One colony, "I consider myself a minor specialist..." - Back at the tower, the mood got tenser as the flying duo approached. Sea Devil busied herself with drill among her assembled people, reminding her people that they would not spill any blood unless theirs was spilled, that they would show how strong they were by not fighting. Iris could feel the emotions popping around her; Aquaria's concern and palpable embarrassment, the suppressed anger of the other Deep Ones, and all the rest. The Deep Ones under the water were playing coy, but she could tell they too were preparing for - something. Meanwhile, something peculiar was happening somewhere else...
  17. Neko takes 20 on her Notice, since we're not in a rush, gets 28. She does the same w/Search for 20.
  18. On her back, her hands folded above her, Neko rolled over and sniffed the air with a look that could best be described as sulking. "I don't like snakes. They make me jump." With an air of long-suffering and somewhat-bedraggled dignity, she stepped back into the shoes she'd kicked off when she flopped down. "The Serpent People are enemies of your father and sister," she said to Kazra. "Did they try and kill you, you think? Okay. I can look," she said, folding her legs beneath her as she closed her eyes. As she did, the jungle seemed to come alive with cats, peeking through the leaves and underbrush, peering around for any lurking snakemen.
  19. I know I've held you up already, TV, and you've been very patient - you can go ahead and skip me.
  20. @Dr Archevilleslipping ya a tag! =D
  21. Ashley submitted to the usual primping and preening that came with major televised appearances like this with only a few thoughts for her teenage pupil and her boyfriend. They polished the dings and dents out of her body armor I hope I'm doing something good for that kid. Goddammit she's been through a lot of malarkey already. They put makeup on the lower part of her face and checked her lipstick, the only parts of her visible with her red and blue helmet on. Honestly that boy seems all right. Doesn't look like some kind of pervert. They fixed her hair, adjusting the short ruff of glossy black hair that stuck out from under her helmet and wasn't actually attached to her body. I think she's gonna turn out okay. If I helped with that - well, good. And then, after a few handshakes, and a text to the wife and kid - she was on.
  22. "I never liked movies before I came to America," admitted Neko, trying to be diplomatic. "I like Kwaidan, but it's an old movie, so they couldn't show very much. My favorite movie is Audition," she added with a fangirl's carefully suppressed excitement. "It's so funny! The man is so stupid, and then," she laughed, "but I don't want to spoil it. The best American movie," she said judiciously, "is Fantasia. Americans are good at making cartoons." Her ears twitching, she flopped over on Leon's lap, hands curled in front of her, followed shortly by a brown and white bobtail cat that seemed to appear from nowhere, settling down on her chest and kneading biscuits. "What do you like?" she asked Vik.
  23. Sea Devil Aquaria did a quick reverse of her trident, releasing the vampire's throat and flipping the tines around to suddenly impale it through the torso. There was a sudden sound of slick, slimy moisture and a brine-like odor as it penetrated deeply through rotting half-organs and other abominations, its magic suffusing the vampire with the power of Hydra, Mother of the Deep. In her native tongue, Aquaria throbbed a series of syllables that meant only: <"Sing of what was. What is. And what will be. When the stars are right>." When the vampire crumbled to pieces, it seemed to be an implosion, as if the arms of something like an octopus were reaching out from the inside and pulling pieces somewhere else - and then it was dust and wet, sticky ashes. Sea Devil spat on the ashes at her feet. "For the dog!" she added in English.
  24. Neko "But it's so funny!" Neko complained. Leon had seen her watch the movie and she usually laughed uproariously and loudly, golden eyes shining and pointed teeth gleaming. "American horror movies aren't even scary," she added good-naturedly. She smiled hello to Shift - the robot was unsettling, as immune to her abilities as any other piece of machinery, but that was why she had friends. As she sat there, her robot-bug Akai flew out of her sleeve and flew over to Shift, landing on the synth's left hand and flapping its wings in a friendly greeting. Akai looked a bit like a robot-ladybug - by design from what Shift had heard.
