Aquaria will not roll - instead she will refocus (during her prayer) and act first next time. She will give Jessie any HP she needs, though.

Geckoman's dinosaur was being better-ridden, or maybe had more inner fire, than its enemy - because soon the other T-Rex went crashing to the ground with a bestial roar and the sound of cracking steel plates! Chris could feel the naked hunger of the beast he rode; its desire to turn and feed on the creature it had just disabled (its rider having flown off who knew where), but in response to both his commands and the implants in its flesh, the creature jerked away and stayed in the fight. The last dinorider opposing them seemed to focus not on Geckoman, but on Echo (who had left a T-Rex without a rider after pummeling the the latter into unconsciousness), firing a spatter of bullets at her feet that didn't quite make an impact. The quickly-revolving gatling guns mounted on either side of his dinosaur would have made him almost unstoppable against a conventional army of the 1850s, but they just weren't fast enough to stop the rapidly-moving speedster. The fight in the guard tents seemed to be running down - they still couldn't make out the brothers amid the dust and confusion, but the occasional rat-a-tat-tat of impossibly fast revolver fire and the occasional _boom_ of what might have been a mini-cannon told them that Etienne and his brother were still very much alive and well.

OK -Aquaria and Jessie are off the board! The 'cut scene' is over. (have an HP for indulging me, if you like!) Now the Praetorians have some terrorists to finish rounding up, one terrorist leader and murderer to bring down, and someone should go make sure Cavalier is alive! =D Paradigm is up.

"By the Great Gods!" growled Glort, as horrified as anyone else in the hangar by the explosion - more because it represented the death of a fellow Star Knight. Remembering his last instruction from his commander, he focused on apprehending the rogue clone of Erin White as she staggered off into a nearby shuttlecraft. "Hold on right there, miss!" said Glort, flying over as his armor glowed a brilliant shade of red. "I'm from the Star Knights, and I'm going to take you somewhere-" Frozen in terror and indecision, Aquaria sprang into action when the alien in armor threatened Jessie. "<No! Leave her alone, you monster!>" She didn't fly or do something else that the others could have countered with a power - instead she vaulted over the side of the shuttlecraft to stand between the Star Knight and the open hatch that guarded Jessie, glowing three-headed spears in each hand. She couldn't save herself, she couldn't get them out of the situation she'd placed them in - but she wasn't going to let Jessie be taken without a fight. "<Space is full of MONSTERS!>" she declared before pivoting on one broad foot and kicking Glort in the center of his body mass with one long, muscled leg that took up much more of her height than it did for most humanoids. The sheer force of the blow, augmented as it was by the shaped energies of the Zero Zone that surrounded Aquaria, sent the Star Knight hurtling backwards, spinning briefly out of control. And directly onto Bie Yie's drawn energy blade. As the sword erupted through the dying Star Knight's chest, Aquaria gave a terrible bellowing cry and slammed the hatch shut behind her. With a Spectrum Knight on board, and the emergency protocols activated, the boxy vessel erupted out the hangar, jerking away from Paradigm so fast that the communications array on the lefthand side was torn away by a terrific impact - an instant before the vessel shot towards the sky, directly towards the still-fading globe of light where Cavalier's transmission had just ended.

"We made it ourselves," said Riley, frowning up at Raina. "Fred'n'I worked on it f'r weeks." Turning to Fred, choosing not to comment on Raina's taste in liquor, he said, "Here, Fred, try some. S'pretty good." He poured her some of the blackberry champagne, halfway filling up the plastic drinking cup. He poured a cup for Anibal too, though he wondered if the tequila heir would have his own strong opinions about homemade liquor. Reminding himself that Robin would want a guy who could behave himself at parties, he went on. "New girl's Phaedra, got dropped up by some guy - angel on th' Freedom League." Riley was not exactly a believer in conventional religion, and couldn't keep some skepticism out of his voice. Phaedra certainly was hot, but his girl was right there in the room. "Think she's his niece or somethin'."

Suddenly, Cavalier's radio contact with the surface died in a fizzle of static. An instant later, the occupants of the hanger cried out in mixed terror and rage as a terrible new star seemed to erupt in the double-sunned sky in a broadly-burning circle, a brilliant flash of white and orange that burned on and on as they watched. A few of the Spectrum Knights, looking directly at Paradigm (in particular, those who had heard and understood her earlier speech in Galstandard), were blinded by the flash, devolving to shouts of "Traitor! Traitor!" while waving their glowing weapons around, but luckily the group growing around Aquaria had been sheltered by the vessel they were behind and kept their vision clear amid the now-panicking crowd.

Frost looked down at the cooling chocolate in one hand and the vodka bottles balanced under his arm. "Bribing your child so she will not tell that I am stealing liquor," he told Erik frankly. "She did not take bribe, by the way, good girl," he told Eden with a nod. He extended the chocolate bar Erik's way like an elderly Russian grandfather. "Would you like chocolate, young fellow?" He looked the flaming swordsman in the eye and burst out guffawing. "Oh, I am sorry, but your face!" He did not sound very sorry. "Hello, I am Comrade Frost late of Peoples' Heroes and Freedom League. I am old friend of Talya's. She has had bad day, and we are here to drink. Perfectly healthy beverages!" he reassured Eden with a big smile. "But only for adults!" He looked back at Erik, still jovial. "You must be Min's famous young husband, the hockey fellow. Pleasure to meet you."

"Argh! Wretched creature, you will pay for this!" This was black blood leaking out of a long wound in her side, spilling down the torn layer of her dress and onto the sterile floor of the floating spaceship. She lashed out with that spilled blood in inky, shadowy tendrils that wrapped themselves around Jack without ever quite finding purchase. Evidently aware of how much danger she was in, she retreated a moment later, the door sliding open behind her to reveal a silent Steve still watching the fight - and then the door slammed shut again an instant before Jack could step through. And from the distant sounds his keen hearing could just make out, his antagonist had gone so far as to hit an alarm somewhere. Inside the room, Steve spoke to Magriette, who was desperately hitting panels on the wall, no doubt trying to contact her Master. His voice scratchy from the damage done to his throat, he said, "You should surrender now. He will only cut through and punish you further in his anger." He began to pull on the chains that held him in place, nodding in grim satisfaction as the ancient steel began to bend beneath his grip, links slowly stretching as Magriette gave a gratifying gasp.

Miracle Girl soon found herself in front of a boxy glass building - a mundane-looking place that turned out to be the not-so-mundane headquarters of the National Security Agency. Quickly ushered inside the lobby, she found herself confronted with her patient - a paraplegic man in an electric wheelchair, a man who had slumped forward, unconscious, in his seat. He did not look healthy, not with his face flushed red and drool coming from his mouth. "His caretaker completely abandoned him," said Homer Higgins, the NSA "supervisor" who had run to get Miracle Girl. "That cowardly bearded bastard vanished the minute the shooting started. And Mr. McGinnis was doing so well! In one of the building's many living rooms, one covered in various antique maps of Freedom City, Raina found the punch where Robin and Riley were busy at work, the pair in the middle of filling red plastic cups with ice underneath a relief map on the wall of Freedom City's natural terrain. The regular punch was alongside where they were working, laid out in a big crystal bowl with faux-silver service that must have come from Huang's parents' stock, directly underneath an overhead map of post-Terminus invasion Freedom City. The cups for the regular punch were black plastic. "Hey Sanderson," said Riley sociably, looking very pleased with himself as he started pouring into the red cups from one of two big, fizzy glass bottles. "Care to partake? We've got hard lemonade in this, and champagne in that."

"I had hoped _you_ would be wiser, sister," declared Mastermind as he reached down and began to pull at the bonds that held his left leg in place, the concrete that held the viney roots in place beginning to crack and bend. "The loss of one life is nothing beneath the salvation of the human race!" For her part, Fire cursed in French and burst into a hotter flame, her glow shifting to a nearly blinding white as the trees and branches that held her in place began smoldering and crackling. Any natural bonds would long since have snapped by now, but Willow's forest still stood. For the moment. Over across the way, the plants surrounding the Withering were beginning to die, vines and branches burning and blackening away just as they had when they'd nearly ensnared Jill. He fixed his masked gaze on Jill O'Cure and laughed. "Only a murderer? You flatter me, child. You'd better save your tongzhi instead of taunting me - canned meats will go bad." And the Darkness, the shadowy flame-witch who had started all the trouble? She teleported out of the snare with a poof of dark energy, appearing a few feet in front of where she'd been bound a moment later. "Dryad!" she called to Willow, her burning black eyes fearless as she glared down at Min. "Here I am! Kill me if you dare! Show the world that one life is all it takes to make the good turn cruel."

Geckoman is up in the paddock, Ecal. Magriette grabs Jack of all Blades with her Perception Range TK. Her Grapple check with it is +22 http://orokos.com/roll/341226 = 31, with the shaken. If that succeeds, she will throw him against the wall and inflict a DC 26 Tou save as a full-round action. If not, she will attempt to retreat back through the door she came from.

Aquaria stared at the living demigod and fell to her knees, pinning herself to the ground with the sticky pads on her fingers, her black and yellow eyes wide and staring. After all her years of hoping and praying, a Child of Hydra stood before her in all her crimson glory. Even the Dark Brothers in their ancient cities had seen the progenitors of all Deep Ones only sporadically - for those in her fallen tribe, they were as the messengers of the gods themselves. And when Coral Snake spoke, an part of Aquaria exulted at the thought of bloody vengeance against the Atlanteans, at the knowledge that she could put her trust in, her faith in - No! a voice in her head cried out in grief and rage, the furious denials she had once screamed at glass walls in Blackstone when she'd learned the horrors perpetrated by Deep One cultists against Surfacers. We are not the monsters they think we are! Not the violators of flesh! Not the cannibal spirits! We are the sons and daughters of the deep! Heirs to the ocean and the Surface! Elders and spawn, we did not come so far for this! Her eyes closed and she began to sing, her throat bulging in her deep bellow. "Oh Mother Hydra - Father Dagon too, listen to your daughter's call - a call that is for you." She was aware of the battle raging all around her, and would have sprung into it in an instant if she'd heard Jessie's voice calling for help. But instead she listened to the voice inside - the voice that told her what she was doing was right. This is a test. Dagon and Hydra have sent you this false messenger so you will remember their true teachings. Love your pack as yourself. Fight for those who cannot help themselves. Remember whose daughter you are and in whose image you are made.
