"Ooh, I'll come with you guys," offered Mark, offering Mike a steadying hand as the latter rose. Whew! Glad that lady stopped trying to pick Mike up! "I haven't been over to the old place in forever, so we can all catch up." Spontaneously, he hugged Mike, the usually tall and sculpted Mark looking decidedly noodly next to the big, muscular powerhouse. A lot of things had happened between the two men, but high school was a long, long time in the past - all that mattered now was what a terrible day this had been for one of his oldest friends, and how it was his job to help make everything better. "Need a ride? I can make doubly sure there aren't any paparazzi on Mike's tail." Turning a winning glance back to Queenie, he went on, "Remember, poutine burgers, eh? It's the best stuff on Earth! Ooh, and maybe you could get in some Tim Hortons' doughnuts while you're at it, those things are great!"

A Picture of Sophisticated Grace (IC)

Aquaria silently pulled up her hoodie and put her gloves back on, hiding the faded blue ink beneath her pale green skin. As Phantom talked to the others, she discreetly wrapped up the remains of her snack in the newspaper it had come in and left it in a big white trash barrel that looked like it was full of stuff the Surfacers were using to build the building. Hands back in her pockets, she said, "Everything will be all right. Jessie and I will take care of each other. We stand alone together." Of course, that reminded her that they weren't entirely alone. She looked at Indira with big goggle eyes and croaked, "And someone will take care of you, right? Do you have someone here who is your family?" She sounded very concerned by the possibility that nobody would be taking care of Indira. "Nobody should have to be alone."- 115 replies

Kindness To Every Living Thing

Inside the domed city, Cerulean was guided to what looked like a helipad - albeit one with vehicles on it that looked more like flying cars than helicopters. Looking down at the roads far below roof-level, in which a criss-crossing maze of hovering vehicles moved amid the sounds of electronic whining in the air, this looked perhaps a trifle less advanced than the Freedom City she'd seen - the buildings smaller and less polished, the vehicles less numerous and with fewer moving signs on the walls. This was maybe a Second World city - for all that it still looked far in advance of anything from her own timeline. There were several Europeans waiting for her on the roof, men and women in polished reflective armor with a faint mesh sheen, along with a familiar face! "Well, quite a mess we've brought these nice people, eh?" Dr. Siddig looked to have recovered fully from the effects of the flight and all that had come after. "Cerulean, I'd like you to meet Edward Martel; the Governor of the Island." Short, with platinum-blonde hair so pale it looked white, the governor shook Cerulean's hand, a serious look on his face. "Dr. Siddig tells me he can send you home from our city. Are you sure we can't persuade you to stay, hmm?" he asked. "The Empire could use people with your power, now that the war has come to our doorstep." "Firanji neutrality is...over," said the doctor, shooting a glance at the distant, closing window in the dome, obviously thinking about the battle that had taken place out there. "But luckily, one of my colleagues at the university here is working on a small-scale version of the Gateway, and with your photokinesis, we have just the trick." -
Gina's Gather Info (repped through Computers) is sufficient to tell whatever the players are comfortable with you knowing about their characters. (maxing out the relevant rep tables) So she knows Vigilant is a patriotic hero whose daughter is a Claremont student named Miracle Girl, she knows Argonaut's story pretty well already, and everything that's public about Cannonade. So far the group at the museum in Fort Meade hasn't made any demands of the base commander or the US government, despite being within just a few blocks of CIA Headquarters. They have made some very public demonstrations of power, violently crushing several attempts by light armor and commando personnel to drive them out of their position. They've taken no prisoners and no hostages, but they've made sure everyone nearby has fled the area or gone into one of several secure shelters. "Miss Americana" is working on a defunct Atlas missile stored at the base museum, but Gina can't imagine what that would accomplish - Atlas missiles are long since retired and there's nothing dangerous in a museum piece anyway!

Mechanics for Lip Reading are given in the Mastermind's Manual - you should check it out! At the very least she should probably have the Notice Challenge that lets her Lip Read without a penalty. Not sure about her Drawback - if her powers make it less severe, it should probably not cost as much.- 10 replies

I would like to request a picture of Aquaria, sans armor! Perhaps looking down at the sea, or up at the stars ahead.

Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. It started with a series of low vibrations; at first it sounded like a car passing by a distant road, or perhaps thunder from a storm somewhere on the other side of the canyon. But a car seemed unlikely, not with civilization very, very far away, and the sky overhead was that same brilliant shade of blue. Then the creature stepped over the side of the cliff; a creature cut from legend - and horror! Towering some twenty feet high and stretching some forty feet long, it looked for all the world like a tyrannosaurus rex cut straight from Hollywood legend, right down to missing the feathers that should surely have been part of a real version of the Cretaceous animal. But this was no Cretaceous animal; not anymore. The T-Rex was covered in iron plates that ran down its back and up its neck, stretching down to its legs and its tail. The grey iron was spiked and looked tarnished, by what appeared to be the creature's blood. This was not a happy dinosaur. The eyes were bloodshot and the greenish skin, where it could be seen, was mottled and discolored. And when it roared, and such a roar it was, it was as much a scream of pain as a roar of triumph. The man on the metal saddle at the creature's shoulders called to them through a mechanical bullhorn, hanging on with his other hand, his black ten-gallon hat and darkly-colored cowboy duds making him look like a figure from Western legend himself. "Hey! You Saints better get back to yer pens before I set Iron Dragon on ya! Now git!" he declared, pointing back up the trail Echo had uncovered. - Not far away, Steve was pinned to a stone wall amid a scene from one of Earth-Prime's Hells. The iron chains had been contemptibly easy and the human thugs had been unable to stop him - even their projectile weapons had barely penetrated his armored body. But their master, oh, their _master_ - the human was tall and muscular, his dark beard impeccably groomed and tan skin without blemish. He looked a god among mortals, especially when compared to the men who served him. "Fascinating!" he declared, stroking his beard as with a wave of his hand he pinned Steve against the rough stone wall behind him via the expedient of glowing manacles he had produced from nothing. "_You_, my fine fellow, have managed to puzzle the most masterful mind of this age; you should be proud of yourself. Your...name is one I have never heard before, one that frightens even my late lamented patrons." He drifted closer as Steve struggled, watching him with the avid fascination of a collector with a new specimen. "Tell me. What is an...Omegadrone?"

Citizen took this opportunity to play a little game. Diving on one skeleton he ripped its femur cleaned off, powerful cybernetic body ripping apart half-rotted tendons with a single devastating yank. As that pile of bones fell, he swung the giant bone homerun-style and hit another skeleton in the head, sending the head flying off to hit another skeleton in the rib cage, knocking them both to the ground. "Nice! Hey Papercut, did you see that one?" he exulted. "We're awesome!" Dodging crowds of flying birds himself, he zipped through the line with his giant club still in hand, carrying on a running commentary as he shattered spines and broke legs, each blow collapsing a skeleton like a gigantic house of cards. "I don't know who's animating these dead bodies!" he called towards the forest. "But we're from a civilized dimension and we're not afraid of a bunch of bones!"

"Ho!" The giant's voice was like thunder across the surface of the ocean, distant from the bulk of his great body but no less powerful for that. "Well, there certainly are a lot of you!" he exclaimed, his attention seemingly distracted as he kept his eye on both the superheroes and his massive horse. With Arcturus' imminent arrival, he slowed down, tugging on the reigns and calling a command that slowed the horse to the equivalent of a seeming slow walk. "I don't recognize your blessings - you must be misplaced from another realm. Welcome to Terra." He waved a massive arm, big as a bus was thick, at the Caribbean all around them. "I am Neptune, Lord of the Ocean, the Sea, Freshwater, and Horses!" And that was when Arcturus realized what he was feeling - there was no Pact here! No Pact... "That little galley there, is that yours?" asked Neptune, pointing in the direction of the Mictlan. "We should get you back to your home realm. Who sent you here?" he asked them curiously, his gigantic eyes narrowing ominously.

since it's worked so well for him so far, Sharl is gonna swing for the fences again. He'll fly up to one of the Jotun skeletons and All-Out Power Attack it. http://orokos.com/roll/320600 = 25! That's a DC 35 Tou save for as many skeletons as he can Takedown Attack. The DC to hit him has dropped to 16.

Hmm. "Mark could easily break into the prison with me, retrieve what was taken from me, and be gone. We might even be able to bring the walls down as we left." Nina smiled thinly, then looked directly at Trevor. "But that would mean nothing." Heat crept into her smooth voice. "You understand, don't you? Breaking into the prison with Mark would do nothing more than prove that my lover is of great power." She took the cup from Trevor and sipped it, briefly, her nostrils flaring over the steam. "I would enter that prison with you, liberate what is mine, and have it done by stealth and cunning. It need not be known as my deed, or the deed of any other. Let my father wonder which of his enemies has robbed him under his very nose." She set down the cup. "It will not be easy. The guards are well-armed and trained, and are chosen from among Socotra's best. The commandant of the prison itself is...family," she said delicately. "My brother Farida had strayed from the line. He has taken this role to show his loyalty to my father."

Silence fell as Steve turned back to Gina, and understanding spread through him. No talking. Not now. There was only one thing to do now. Steve offered her his hand wordlessly, knowing that pulling her out certainly wouldn't help anything. The heat of the day was nothing; the sun on his bald head was nothing. He would stand there, silently, waiting for her, until she was ready to come out - however long that took. She was suffering in a way that very few people he knew would understand - but it was suffering all the same. And that is something I know only too well. This was a small step outside; a giant one for Gina.

Aquaria had been about to tell Phantom that she had better not mess with Jessie because her sister was super-tough and had once killed Omega, but the conversation moved on from there as she finished getting the meat out of the lobster. The pale skin on the front of her body flushed a faint pink with embarrassment as she wrapped up what was left of the lobster in the wet newspaper it had come in. "Am I a problem?" she asked suddenly, a croak in her voice. "Vrak..." She swallowed hard, which produced some impressive bulges visible right through her hoodie. Taking off her glasses revealed an amphibian face, slit black pupils against giant gold eyes. "Surfacers believe bad things about my people. They're not true," she said firmly, "but...but I don't want any of it to hurt Jessie. She's my best friend." Of course, if this Surfacer said she was a problem, that didn't really mean anything - but it would be good to know.- 115 replies

"Around the block," suggested Steve as he headed for the door, Gina slowly following him. "We can take in the scenery and enjoy the weather." He didn't add greeting the neighbors, knowing how Gina felt about the idea of getting to know the people with whom she shared block space. That would come on the outside, if she opened up. Probably. He opened the door and stepped out into the sunlight of what was by all appearances a perfectly pleasant Freedom City summer morning. He stayed on the concrete stoop ouside, giving Gina her space inside the door. "You look beautiful," he told her as she stepped out into the sunlight to join him. "There is a red flower in a lawn on the other side of the block," he told her, "I've been wanting to show it to you so I might plant it in our garden." How strange it was, even now when it was just the two of them, to use the word our!

"In the years since its supposed destruction, my father has transformed what remains of the facility into a holding area for the enemies of the people of Socotra." Outside of those not executed publicly, of course, but Trevor had seen the same documentaries that anyone else growing up in the United States had - never mind his own investigations as a superhero. "As well as those deemed too dangerous to be held by the governments of certain nations that would prefer not to send their criminals to an American or European super-prison." Fully aware she was beginning to beat around the bush, Nina mastered herself and spoke. "There are certain...items being held at Ifrit by my father. Personal mementos, memorials of my mother and pictures of my siblings, and I would...prefer to have those restored to me. Socotra is barred to me - but my past need not be." She handed him her mug, patiently waiting to see if he would penetrate the lie.

"Or you could come back to Geneva with me!" Mark offered cheerfully. "It's great, you can see the lake from my apartment and there's more chocolate than even you can eat." Mark fell silent, figuring this might not be what his friend wanted to hear. Geez, I haven't even talked to Mike in forever! he thought glumly. He probably lives in Alex's place anyway. "And I know you," he said to Dancia with a wink. "Probably! No use in sharing a lot of personal information right now." He turned back to Queenie. "Hey, you have that restaurant, don't you! I love that place, but have you ever thought about poutine burgers?" he asked. "That's where you take fried potatoes, and gravy, and cheese curds, and you just put them on the burger and they're so good!" He smiled winningly, then went on, "My mom learned how to make those from her mom back in Quebec. She used to make those all the time and I miss them. I know it's not technically Southern-style, but it's from southern...Canada, eh?" He winked.
-
"None, thank you," replied Nina evenly. She'd raised an eyebrow at the sight of the ungainly machine, but she trusted Trevor's mechanical engineering skills. If not necessarily his sense of aesthetics. When she had a cup in hand, she balanced it delicately in her long fingers and paused to savor the brew, nostrils flaring over the steam. "Mmm." There was no talking over first coffee, of course, this was a time to cling to good manners, not abandon them. After a few minutes, Nina reluctantly set down her cup. There was no sign of Wander or anyone else in the house - it was time enough to tell her story. "Well-made, Trevor." With that, she opened her messenger bag and came out with a picture - the false color sonar image of what Trevor identified as an underwater mountain. "This is Ifrit, a dormant seamount off the Makran coast of Pakistan. Forty years ago, my father threatened to cause its eruption unless the Pakistani government made certain...financial concessions." Her mouth worked, slightly. "Under attack from Pakistani and Chinese super-agents, he allowed the world to believe the facility in Ifrit had been destroyed. But those were lies," she said frankly.
