An ice-controlling vampire plant controller is a bit of a tough build, so I decided to go for variety here. Normally she's a regenerating heat vampire - but using her powers lets her wrap herself in weird, frozen vines and other symbols of nature corrupted by a killing cold. Like her parents she can take some big hits - and dish them out with razor-sharp icy plants that can suck the life out of almost anything! Unlike her parents she's mostly a melee fighter, but she has a few good tricks like icy walls and binding plants - though she can't make the ice go away, given that her powers are to drain heat rather than put it into something. Like most heat vampires she's a big surprise for fire controllers who expect cold controllers just to melt - and not someone who'll make a lot of friends when dealing with other cold controllers. I figure she learned to play the flute while she and her parents were roaming around the world of her native timeline, waiting to catch up with 2015...
  2. "Ah, well, Stesha," said Frost, feeling a rare flush of shame when he heard the fear in Stesha's voice. "It will be all right," he told her reassuringly. "Will need some time to gather relevant supplies, but relevant spell will send us to where we need to go, aheheh," he added, lacing his fingers together and unlacing them. "If you go and secure supplies with help of new friends," he offered, "I can do preparations down here." As they had spoken, some of Daniels' party had gone around and had handcuffed the half-frozen, heavily drugged cultists. "You are pretty lady with green hair in world above, I am hideous ice monster." He tapped the side of the building's furnace and added, "I will be fine." "You may look like a couple of escapees from pulp fiction, but we do owe your lives," offered Daniels, who had heard part of the conversation as he came over to join the pair. "What do you need?" Frost gave a list for the doctor, ticking off points on his fingers - it sounded to Stesha mostly like a collection of various herbs, spices, and the kind of chemicals you could find in a particularly dangerous chemical supply company - i.e., one you'd find anywhere on the streets of Freedom City in 1927. "We can do that," said Daniels with a nod. "We'll make it happen." - "That part I knew about!" agreed Warlock, who despite his own monstrous appearance was still watching both the giant bees and the giant dragon with some trepidation. "Comrade Frost and Fleur de Joie are already on their way. If you'll follow me to the Invisible Pyramid, I can show you where they'll be arriving. We have all the equipment there to make sure you all get where you need to go."
  3. The robots are down - all that's left is the Conqueror of Earth.

The fact that he inherited only a weakened version of both his mother's fire control abilities and his father's precognition only made matters worse for the angsty young teen. But martial arts training helped him master the volcanic temper that he inherited from his mother (or at least got from being raised by her for a painful few years), even if he never gained his father's unleashed psychic abilities. Now he defends the streets of his adopted city, using his modest pyrokinetic abilities and his impressive martial arts training, the better to make a world where no one can lord it over anyone else - powered or otherwise. OK, yet another Oddball - this one the fusion of just who you'd expect. I think this is a pretty convincing build for a low-level pyrokinetic who has turned his formidable abilities to crime-fighting! He has a limited precognition that manifests primarily in combat; and a high Notice and Sense Motive that can pass for superpowered intuition. He can throw fireballs, goon-sweep with big area attacks, and also fight hand-to-hand with great skill. Note that he's not immune to fire as such, look at the scar and the immunities in his costume! I figure he flies the way Azula did in Avatar, on great gouts of flame - hence the complete lack of Subtle! I drew pretty heavily from Avatar's Fire Nation for some of the mechanics here - after all, there is precedent for firebenders donning a mask and fighting powerful enemies behind a code name.
  5. The osmium cap was just what Edge promised - blue-grey and smooth, it shone with a reflected finish that wasn't quite iron or steel. Inside, the Communion drones were already busy clinking away at the UNISON-marked cap holding them inside the obelisk. "Okay, that'll last for like five, ten minutes, I guess, once they really start going - so get out there into space!" he told Cobalt Templar. "I'll meet you over at the battle site." - Edge popped in just as Midnight was administering his cure, which fortunately could be applied through the skin in the same way the original toxin had been absorbed. The greenish stain of the Frog-Bat-Lizard's venom washed away like cotton candy beneath water, leaving the victims faintly discolored but with no other signs of transformation. They stopped their chanting and writhing, and began looking around, exclamations of shock and cold replacing the Communion chant. "My mom and dad!" declared the little girl hanging onto Nina, pointing to one of the groups, and as soon as they were cured she wriggled her way free and hugged her dripping wet parents. "Mommy, Daddy! The robot princess and the warrior princess saved me! And the scary monster saved you!" "Thank Mother Ocean," declared Aquaria as she joined the heroes in getting the civilians treated and freed from their confinement. "No more Lemurian pollution on you nice people, yay! Merry Christmas!" she added, maybe a little too forcefully - it wasn't hard to guess why she might be feeling uncomfortable under the circumstances.
  6. "Don't worry, kid. We'll make scrap metal out of these tentacled two-bit tungsten tyrants!" declared Fast-Forward, raising his fists for battle as Net-Fly was tossed around like a kid with a toy. The world went on pause, time slowing to a crawl as he manipulated the temporal energy all around him by sheer instinct, before turning and running into battle. He zipped among the robotic minions of the tentacled mastermind, hammering at them with blows that hit every square inch of their metallic bodies, simultaneously aging the super-tough nanite-built steel while striking it with fists that were subjectively traveling at thousands of miles an hour with every punch. By the time he was done, running back among the others, all the minions the creature had brought with it were soundly defeated.
  7. 2 robots are left. Fast-Forward targets them with super-speed punches! http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4784840/ He hits them both DC 25 +3 Autofire http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4784841/= they both explode
  8. I like this a lot! A pretty grim backstory - but within the bounds of acceptability. I do have one suggestion - consider transforming the Drawbacks she has into a Complication. You will be much happier with your GM saying "OK, this Complication has come up, take an HP for your powers not working" than "OK, this Drawback has come up, your powers don't work any more, oh well."
  9. "Hey, kids," said Fast-Forward with a paternal smile as he shook their hands. Up close he really did look like an older version of Will - enough that they could have switched outfits and passed for time-travelers. Huh, didn't realize it was a boy and a girl. Well, lucky guy. He was pretty sure that Errant, who Will spoke very highly of, wouldn't be putting the moves on Thaelia right there in front of little Holly. "Nice to meet you, Thaelia." He gave a traditional Atlantean greeting - the one that they told tourists meant "Hello." "Thanks again for doing this - you guys are real life-savers. We left you thirty bucks for pizza, and there are some movies in the DVD player if you guys are interested. The real stuff's downstairs." By which he meant the VCR with the actual video cassettes, like civilized people. "How's my hair?" he asked Paige, turning so she could see the back. "Hiii, Elias," said Holly, with a shy smile on a pretty face that looked more than a little like her mom's. She gave Thaelia a curious look. "Are you really from Atlantis?"
  10. "Yeah, I know," said Warlock with an air of patience. "But it's more like they played with me. You know how they say if you make a face long enough it'll stick that way?" he looked up at the gigantic draconic face near his and added nervously. "Hah-hah, okay, let's move on, can't spend all day talking about my face! Anyway," he added to Gaian Knight, looking grateful for the rescue, "I'm from a group called the World Freedom Society. We defend Freedom City, America, and the world from monsters beyond space and time, evil sorcerers, alien horrors, and everything better left unburied." It sounded like a memorized speech, but one he believed with all his heart. "Eighty-eight years ago, two of your group helped save our world from an extradimensional invasion. When that happened, they said you would be here on this spot, on this date. Normally more people would be here," he admitted, "but there's a big interstellar war going on. My job is to make sure you and your passenger...s get back to your home dimension." - "Oh, is fine!" said Frost, a little awkwardly, taking an involuntary step back from Fleur's anger. "Other history was product of extradimensional infiltration, was not cosmologically legitimate." She didn't look like she liked that idea very much. "We have saved entire dimension from Anopheles invasion! Who would want to go back to such horrors?" he inquired of Fleur. "Besides, porheps they have been merely recreated in home timeline, or they can be moved in to fill whatever holes are left. No need to fret when we are on the case," he said brightly.
  11. Unable to be brought down, Sharl stunts an Area version of his EMP effect big enough to reach the truck! I'll say he adds Action and Distracting to get the range he needs.
  12. Citizen shoved his hand further into the electrical box, blue lightning crackling through every electrical appliance on set as they shorted out, one by one. "All I need is a few more seconds!" he called to Temperance, his holographic form flickering and dancing as he used the electromagnetic energy channeled through the system against it, shorting out line after line and leaving the system itself harmless and empty. If I can get it done fast enough... When the last line was dead and the place really was dark, the only light left was the glow produced by his projector - the only functioning electrical appliance left on this floor of the building. "Stop talking like that!" he added, yelling at Madame Marvelous. "You're not even the nice kind of genetically imbalanced, you're just crazy! Demigods aren't even real!"
  13. It would have gone faster if Richard hadn't occasionally stopped to flip ahead at how long the ritual would take and mutter something unwholesome before resuming his work. Even so it didn't take very long, especially by the standards of mystic rituals and arcane spells. It helped that time seemed to pass in a slightly different fashion inside the television realm. Paige could hear Richard's thoughts as he chanted, mostly some variation on Ugh, so many words! Eventually, with a final gesture, he snapped his fingers and summoned a light over their heads - a glowing eye in the starry shape of the Crab Nebula, casting a greenish glow over the room and all inside it. It looked like something summoned by a Victorian occultist, a weird, fluttering glow that made it look almost like an image artifact in an old-time photograph.

  16. For all that he usually dressed down, Richard Cline knew when it was time to dress up - and when 'dressing up' didn't mean looking like Huey Lewis. If his black hair with just a touch of grey was longer than the usual for a man these days, and if his suit was maybe a little out of fashion, he still looked very good if he did say so himself. Zipping downstairs from the master bathroom (where he'd been carefully putting just the right amount of mousse in his hair), he took one look at Paige and whistled. "You look totally awesome, babe." He kissed her forehead, careful not to smudge her lipstick, and even that got an "Ew!" from his younger child. "You gimmie some sugar too," he said, pecking Holly on the head. "C'mon, lady of the house for an evening! It'll be awesome. I'm counting on you to give me a full report on these friends of Will's," he joked. "Make sure they're not getting up to any mischief. You know teenagers." Of course, it wasn't that much longer now that Holly herself would be a teenager, a thought that was more and more appalling the more he put it in his mind. It still wasn't too late to drop Holly off at his mother's place...but his ma was not the right kind of babysitter. Not now. "If they're going to get into mischief, maybe I should stay with Nana-" "No," he said, not quite sure if she'd actually read his mind. "She's on the emergency list, along with your ma, me, Will, his school, and the Freedom League. You're a big girl, kiddo - you can handle some babysitting. Besides," he added, "I bet they'll both have some radical stories about growing up super! Man, you were just a baby when we went to Atlantis."
