Well, he's not actually grappled - it just tossed him around and dropped him.

Ball 10 tries to run over Jack of all Blades - this is an Overrun attack. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4779325/= 29! So that's a DC 33 Trip check! To be opposed with STR or Dex, or I think Acrobatics. Dragonfly is up.

"A giant frog-bat-lizard, huh? Wow, I guess she wasn't kidding with the name. I'll have to sneak a look at I can put an osmium cap on there," said Edge thoughtfully. "Osmium is really brittle so I don't build a lot with it, but it's super-dense so it'll take a long time for them to chew through. I learned about that from Freedom Friends," he said with that tone of sincere cheerfulness that Cobalt Templar knew was perfectly true. "Why, what are you thinking?" - The little girl clinging to Monsoon took one look at Midnight and buried her face in Nina's chest, making the journey a little more difficult than it had to be. "Sssh, sssh, it's all right..." This was new terrain for Nina, the youngest of twelve, but she was doing her best to stem the occasional sobs that came from the small girl. The hydrokinetic wound up opening cabinets by means of yanking their contents out with her powers, trying not to scatter the contents of utility closets and under the sink cabinets beyond Midnight's ability to reassemble them. "The real monster was the giant one, remember?" - All the hardware stores Erin and Jessie could find were closed - after all, it was Christmas. But luckily they were superheroes, this was an emergency, and the Liberty League had the funds to do minor property repair. Luckily Erin and Jessie between them had the ability to force a lock with minimal damage, letting them enter and get what they needed with minimal damage, and then come racing back to the damaged neighborhood to make their repairs. Erin had to watch Jessie on the way back - all the way back. -

"Ghosts, eh?" Fast-Forward reached into his leather jacket and pulled out a book - a small, old-fashioned, leatherbound journal that 'popped' with magical power to Temperance's eyes. "To gaze upon the dead that are living, call upon the mystic power of Cancer in Taurus, that the dead star that is living will lend its light to your eyes and heat to your voice," he read aloud from what looked to be neat, penciled-in handwriting. He flipped back and forth through the book at super-speed, then said, "OK, this looks like it's asking me to cast a spell in the name of the Crab Nebula, so that I can see ghosts? I don't know, I think I can do this. I haven't done this before, though, so it'll be teeeeeeedious..." He started pacing the room, reading from the book out loud like an actor reading from a script he'd just been handed. "And in the name of the mystic power of the nebula, I call upon you, in the name of the mystic power of the...ugh, twenty-four times!? Crap, now I have to start again..." With a deep sigh, he went back to his recitation.

And then, suddenly, things were different. In a transition that came so fast the bees nearly plowed into a shining glass building, suddenly the damage was gone! There'd been not even a ripple in the air to explain it - the heroes were there, in the murdered version of Freedom City, and then suddenly the city was alive again. Skyscrapers reached up high, higher than they had before, their damaged structures and the insects that had swarmed inside them gone like a nightmare. The giant bees spun wildly around like so many startled blimps before they hastily circled around the superheroes, buzzing frantically in shock at the sight they beheld. "WHAT IZ IT? WHAT HAPPENED?" demanded Super-Bee. "WHERE DID THEY GO?" - "We're all right," said Daniels, his still-silent partner having checked on the welfare of everybody. Daniels didn't look armed, but his colleague had dug around in the pockets of one of the cultists until she came up with a large, still-shining handgun - even if she had to take a handkerchief from her pocket to actually hold the now ice-cold metal. "I've seen some pretty terrible things in this business, even worse than the war, but you two, even..." He shot a look at Frost, who waved, before turning back to Fleur. "You two aren't the monsters we fight. I'm glad to meet you." "The war?" asked Frost curiously. "What war?" "The World War." And with his words, suddenly the clothes, the basement furnishings, the old-fashioned furnace, all of it made sense. "What is year?" "1927?" said Daniels curiously. "Are the years different where you're from?"

The sphere, already looking cracked and brittle from Dragonfly's spatial attack, actually shattered in a miniature explosion at Geckoman's blow. Like a Prince Rupert's drop cast from nanite-spun silicon, a properly applied blow caused all its kinetic energy to be freed at once and release a shower of razor-sharp fragments that flew everywhere. Geckoman was left with a scored visor but nothing worse, and a good thing too, his spacesuit lacked the regeneration that his flesh did! For his part, injuries aside, Caradoc knew he couldn't let those balls into the dome - not when there were innocent Farsiders defending their posts there, not when the key to the Moonstone weapon was there, not when _Gina_ was in there. He took off with a grunt of effort, the pain a familiar friend as burning entropic fire powered him forward, landing in the gap opened by the balls but not yet crossed by them. He swung at one and missed, the brightly glowing blade in his hand scattering across its surface, but he took its counter blow without falling. Instead he dug in his heels and took the hit on his undamaged shoulder, the ball whirling frantically for purchase in the lunar soil but finding none as Caradoc dug in his spiked feet.

"Dr. Albert Daniels," said the best-dressed of the group, for all that his bow tie, suspenders, and blue shirt were all stained with what looked to have been his own blood. Elsewhere, another colleague, a middle-aged woman, was looking for the others of the group. They were all watching Fleur closely - the suspicious looks that Fleur was beginning to realize were what people who had never seen a superhero looked like when they saw her. "My colleagues _were_ investigating the Anopheles cult when they ambushed us on the waterfront." He turned and looked at the machine, shuddering. "It was all a trap. They wanted the blood of six in one to open their gateway - which I guess was supposed to be us." He eyed Fleur suspiciously. "Are you...rival wizards? We've seen cultists fight over tomes, but never anyone who'd stop to rescue a stranger." "Pardon me, good sir and madames-" Frost began to ask, but his appearance brought an even more startled exclamation from the rescued civilians. "Great cats! What is that thing?"

That's an HP for Fast-Forward, Net-Fly, and Triakosia. Give me a DC 25 Tou save, Net-Fly. Grimalkin is up. (The minions are just PL 7 robots - the Harvester of Souls is a build of geez3rs)
-
All in all, for a plan by a scratch team, what happened next worked like a charm. Triakosia's strength tossed the Communion spaceship high in the air, far enough to let it be perfectly speared by a shaft of empowered sunlight that came flaring out of the sky at Fast-Forward's arcane command. With the threat the Earth was under, the roar was damn satisfying, Richard decided, as was the pretty light show as burning chunks of spacecraft came hurling down to plummet against the empty road that led up to the observatory. "Nice!" he called. "Nothing burns brighter than scumbag alien invader!" Having fought in the Invasion of '93, he wasn't one to show mercy to merciless killers from beyond the stars. "I-aw, crap!" Sure enough, he'd spoken too soon - a shimmer of light directly across from the observation platform showed where a collection of vaguely humanoid figures were materializing in thin air! Net Fly's pew-pewing turrets knocked several down, but a bare half-dozen simple humanoid robots, their armored skin pale and eyes gaping impossibly wide, remained clustered around a humanoid figure that seemed to be made entirely of long, dagger-like metal tentacles and staring mechanical eyes. It seemed to focus on Net Fly, perhaps because the teenager's blasts were the first to actually strike its skin. Tentacles lashed out and a mechanical voice chittered as as a bladed grip seized Serge's ankle. Grabbing on, it hurled the teen with great speed directly at the speeding Fast-Forward, missing him by inches as Net Fly smashed against the steel pillar in the middle of the observation platform that held up the radio antenna.

I'll say Geckoman hits Bad Guy 30, which we'll say is also the one Dragonfly hit. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4777545/= 16 Failed by 10, so it is dazed and staggered on top of its bruising. We'll also have it go again from the effects of Dragonfly's hit. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4777546/= 18 All right, I'm prepared to have that blow it up. HARRIER: Harrier flies right through the hole made by the balls! He spends the HP he gets from his relationship with Gina - who is in the dome and under threat to surge and take a standard action despite being staggered. He tries to give Ball 20 such a stabbing. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4777551/= 15 But misses! Well, shucks. Don't want him to be the star too much in a thread I'm actually running, so I'll let him sit on that HP. Pink and Yellow do nothing, those bastards! Ball 20 goes for a hit vs. Steve http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4777552/= 24 Feh, where was that when I needed it a minute ago? http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4777553/= 29 Fortunately, Steve makes his Tou save, and has kept the ball's attention. Harrier: 22 Pink: 20 A BAD GUY: 20 Yellow: 17 Jack of all Blades is up as soon as I make an IC post

That'll do it! Trevor realizes that, with some chemicals on his belt, some household goods, and some time, he can whip up a counteragent that will nullify the Lemurian biotoxins - it's a simple matter of whipping up some hypchlorite solution. To the kitchen!

The azure-skinned robot fired a blast at the overhead spaceship, finally driving it to pull away, further into the airless Lunar sky and out of immediate blast range from the heroes on the ground. After all, the battering spheres it had dropped to attack the dome seemed to be doing their job! Still half-numb from the earlier blow that had cut through his armor, Caradoc felt a sick sense of dread as he saw the dome begin to crack - an instant before cold, steely resolve took over and he began outright hobbling towards the hole in the wall, ready to fly there as soon as he'd gathered the energy to power his jetpack.

Wander's efficient takedown of the poisoned Christmas revelers left them battered, bruised, but not in any shape to go anywhere anytime soon. Luckily the Lemurian-crafted toxins didn't seem to be overriding their pain responses, so when they went down, they stayed down. With Cannonade arriving to deal with both the people Wander had taken down and the ones Monsoon had taken up, the team was left with a thorny problem indeed. "Oooh, this is bad, this is bad," said Aquaria, her big eyes swiveling independently as she wrapped big bulbous fingers around each other nervously. "They're not turning into Deep Ones, though, so that's good, right?!" she asked hopefully. "I mean they're not actually turning into anything, it's just, um, in their brains!" She looked scared, her greenish skin decidedly pale. For her part, Singularity was moving down the street with efficiency, ruthlessly beheading the fire hydrants with her fists before redirecting the water to sweep the streets clean with a shriek of ruptured metal. She looked scared too, but was working through it. When the gushing water hit the poisoned citizens it helped, washing away the gunk and seeming to prevent any biological changes - but their limbs still twitched and voices still shouted that same eerie Lemurian chant. "Mommy, Daddy, no!" A little girl, face in the second-story window, was watching her mind-controlled parents down below. "What's happening!?" she cried. It looked to have been mostly kids who had avoided the wave, upstairs when it had splashed through the first floor. To her credit, it was Monsoon, of all people, who dealt with this one. "It's all right, little girl," she told her, swooping up to second-story level. She'd made very sure no fluids were sticking to her. "Don't worry! The Liberty League is here to save the day, and-yike!" The little girl, whose eyes had lit up at the sight of a superheroine, had simply jumped out of the window and grappled Monsoon, clinging to her with all four limbs as they both hovered in the air. Over the commlinks came Mark's voice. "Hey, everybody OK over there? I heard a big wet explosion!"

"I am indeed a remarkable cat!" agreed Marley. "Fear not, my friends, your families and felines are safe. Why hello there, beautiful!" Purring, he batted playfully at Blackbird's holographic face before continuing. "The truth is that your recent wanderings through time have left your home timelines unsettled. Until the temporal echoes have died down enough to allow your return, it will be necessary for you to visit certain other timelines in order to correct their chronal instabilities. For example, Earth-Deluge has long suffered the effects of...by Bastet's eyes!" Tail poofed and back arched, Marley all but leaped into the air as something broke the surface of the water nearby, a massive something that nearly swamped Sojourner's trim little raft. The vessel, clearly a primitive submarine, was some three hundred feet long and sheathed in a patchwork of various sorts of metal - some of that metal bearing warped, arcane signs that bespoke a grim sort of magic indeed. The top hatch was thrown open and out scuttled a half-dozen amphibious humanoids, their wide, staring eyes, greenish skin, and long limbs reminding some of the kids of Aunt Aquaria - but with a look of sinister intent on their faces that worthy had never borne! "Attention, sssurfacerssss!" one called. "In the name of Brother Dagon and Sssissster Hydra, you are now the property of Captain Ssstraha of the Zong! Sssurrender peacefully or we will sssacrifice you to the Great Beassst of these watersss!" As those words were spoken, arms rose from beneath the sleet-grey sea - long, tentacled arms that bulged as thick as the Zong and nearly as long, rising just behind the craft along with a great squamous head like a gigantic, even more monstrous version of the Deep Ones on the submarine. "We warn you! Sssshe is hungry!"

"Hmm?" Nina had been, for a moment, studying her reflection in the glassed cover of a framed picture of some Dutch nationalist leader, her mind cast in other directions. "Yes. Babe, I need to use the facilities. Woman troubles. I don't want to be a distraction when you're meeting with the big cheese." A sympathetic look and a pleading face got her directed towards the women's washroom, even if she was distinctly sure she heard some muttering in Dutch as she headed there. Savages, she thought with a repressed sneer as she walked into the women's room. Humming, she walked from sink to sink in the women's room, thinking carefully back to Monsoon's fight with the Dutch nationalists earlier that day. I left the canal waters untouched and never actually drowned any of them. When she was done, she took a few steps away from the water, pressing her back against the cool tiles of the bathroom. "Fools," she muttered to herself, her voice drowned by the hissing of the water. "You have taken the daughter of a king to your bosom..." As she stepped out of the washroom, the door exploded behind her. Leaving her heels behind, she ran, screaming, the perfect image of a hysterical woman, as pipes burst open and sewer lines ruptured and thousands of gallons of water began gushing out through shattered tiles onto the floor beneath and right through it. "Aaah!"
