"Divine majesty!?" declared Sharl just before the cameras started rolling. His moment of skepticism aside, he didn't want to ruin this for Eliza and so did his best to dance - a difficult task for the teenager from Tronik. The years he'd spent on the plankton barge hadn't given him a lot of moves, and with its sinous closeness Terran dancing had never been a strong suit. But he put his heart and soul into it, at least trying to blend in and not stick out in the crowd of so-graceful Terrans. What are they doing here, anyway - probably gonna put a pyramid on their heads and announce we're all property of Ra! He caught sight of where Eliza's eyes were and watched the conversation as best he could.

"Miaow!" At that moment, a cat wriggled its way out of a hole in the building's roof near the group of misplaced travelers. Despite the rough circumstances, the orange and black cat's fur was bone-dry, and he even wore a collar with a nametag that looked brand-new. "Ah, Hunter-Whites!" it declared in a clear baritone voice, as if that was the sort of thing that happened every day. "Welcome to Earth-Deluge! I'm sorry the circumstances are so rough, but seventy years of floodwaters have spoiled the Big Apple." The cat yawned and stretched before continuing, its claws scratching against the ruined tiles. "My name is Marley. I'm sure you have many questions about how you got here."

DB: Hello, Dinklebot, and welcome to the site. The Freedom City universe is not part of any larger multiverses from outside what Green Ronin has created or what we've created here on the site. The idea of a character empowered by an extradimensional alien presence is fine, just not that _particular_ extradimensional alien. In general the biggest problem with the character is its political content. It's interesting that your character is starting out with ideas about the world that he'll need to shed as a PC- characters who have grown up in cult settings and the like make for interesting backstories. But you can understand we'd be pretty nervous about a new person wanting to play a character like this - writing this character's moral journey would be an interesting story, but it would be extremely challenging for a new person. It's very hard to write a character like this and make him remotely sympathetic - i.e., somebody anyone would want to be around. When the new guy starts at the circus, they don't put him on firebreathing right away. There's also the issue of politics - the last thing we want is people fighting in-game over politics, and there are PCs who would take some pretty strong exception to Excelsior's attitudes. There are also a lot of players who'd be uncomfortable with it too - and "a concept that raises the hackles of everybody else" isn't really something we'd let a new person play. (Or veteran, for that matter!) Hah-hah, well, it is certainly true that a blood-sucking Marxist has infiltrated the Freedom League - But still, these are attitudes we don't really want player characters to have - after all, you're talking about a hate-on for groups that includes both other characters and lots of other players. A good person to look at for ideas might be KnightDisciple's character Gabriel, a man of very strong religious convictions who at the same time doesn't feel the urge to judge the sinners around him.

The aerial melee was turning destructive now - the giant bees were slamming into mosquitos and hurling them into broken buildings, using their sheer mass to destroy the ghoulish nests built in the murdered city below. The bees seemed to be driving the mosquitos back now, Super-Bee rallying from her earlier low point, to send one mosquito out of the sky by simply ramming it down and sending the broken-bodied creature smashing into the highway cloverleaf far below! Other blasts of flame were incinerating the swarms of smaller mosquitos and other vermin as they approached, protecting the all-too-vulnerable humans as they engaged the swarm across the city. "COME, ZIZTER!" Super-Bee had appeared alongside Tiamat, flames crackling around her insectile mouth. "LET'Z ZHOW THEM WHAT WE THINK OF HORNETZ!"

I like that kid, thought Fast-Forward, who had followed Net-Fly at least in speed as the boy had started talking. I wish I could understand what he was talking about - oh well, not the first egghead who I thought was talking bananas. Sometimes he worried about his own boy, who like Richard combined a super-fast mind with a brain that worked only about as well as any normal human beings. On the other hand, he mused, I don't think I'd have much to say to a kid that smart most of the time. Of course, that only brought up his worries about Holly, his little girl faced with a telepathic violation by the cybernetic creatures in the sky. And with that thought, Fast-Forward decided it was time to stop being polite, and start being real. Fast-Forward zipped around the spaceship in a growing circle, light tracing beneath his feet as he ran out a pattern underneath the vessel that glowed with supernatural energy - and that made a spot in the sky overhead glow to match it! Running back to join the others, he was finishing "andletthemburninthefiresofthedogstarandbeastroboletosforever!" as he ran back up onto the observation platform.

There was a wild battle in the skies above the ruined remains of Freedom City - the bees were definitely making a dent in the overwhelming power of the mosquito swarm and their various horrible insect allies, but it was a tough battle. Working together in a flying V formation, the bees picked away at the sheer numbers of the mosquitoes. Ironically they were the ones acting like parasites, distracting the swarming mass of insects from closing on the heroes as they warred against the tremendous numbers all around them. The heroes were doing damage too; Tiamat's scorching firebreath had singed the wings of one great monstrous insect and sent it scrambling away and Gaian Knight had at least confused a horde of creepy-crawlies that had been ascending the skyscraper after them. This was no mere super-struggle, though - this was the battle in a war. - Frost disposed of the last standing cultist with a snap of his fingers - and a sudden cold snap in the room. "Well, what fresh Hell is this?" he muttered, trusting Fleur to untie the victims still bound in the machine. On closer inspection, Fleur could see the captives were still conscious, albeit bruised, with crude IVs in their veins. The IVs themselves were empty - she'd stopped the masked leader before he could grab the great lever by the side of the machine. "Is this just alternate version of dimension? But no, there would be Anopheles everywhere," Frost muttered as he looked over the glyphs on the wall. "This is original dimension but in deep past! Must have predated Anopheles penetration here!"

Inside the dome, the link was gone and Gina could feel the entire complex shaking as something big and powerful battered at the very material keeping their atmosphere and environment in place! Redirecting internal cameras revealed only dark shapes moving outside and a cloud that blocked all sensors - and something hammering its way in! The sick whine of alarms outside told her that something had breached the armored structure's surface and air was being sucked out of the complex! - Outside, Jill's rapidly-spreading force field disrupted the electrically-charged dust cloud that had interfered with their radio transmissions and their sight, giving them a clear view of the things breaking into the the Farsider dome. And what things they were! They were all familiar with robots and killing machines and instruments of death; all-too-familiar after their careers as superheroes. But the Communion drones would, under other circumstances, have been comical - they looked like translucent soap bubbles cast to earth, with lunar dust dotting their surfaces. But the big spheres, each taller through the middle than Harrier, were no laughing matter. They rolled into the dome, again and again, battering at its tough surface, forcing a breach that one began forcing its way through, a charred mark on its back showing where Dragonfly's blast had struck home. - Inside, as the dust cleared, Gina felt the link open again to the hovering Miss Americana unit, just as the azure-skinned robot fired a blast into the hovering Communion ship that tore away another chunk of its hull, exposing raw, bubbling inorganic flesh within.

"It's...it's fine, sure," replied Fast-Forward, his voice almost entirely confident. "You know how it is with women when they're with family, right? And there's a lot of emotion in the air? Last thing you want to do is get between them. Trust me, it's really hard to get out of the way when psychics have a brain-fight. Anyway, like the song says, Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister. This is no worse than when our kids fight." On freaking Anti-Earth, that is. "He took a moment to calm himself before going on. "So why don't we go tend to the guards and your friend Stronghold, and such?"

"This doesn't concern you, Hologram," said Tesla Atom, though a slight tremble in her voice belied her confident words. "Whatever happened with...with Psion," and from that tremor it was very clear she knew who had been in her head. "Ember Psion is still a terrorist and a would-be mass murderer. We saw you blow that man out of the plane!" "You're lucky she was there to chase dear old Grandpa out of your head, honey, or that pretty face of yours might not be so pretty anymore. I was going to blow you and your little lunatic brother right out of the sky before I let you hurt my family. And that flatscan is fine, probably, I didn't even burn his wingsuit off." "You-" A hero despite everything, Tesla Atom stood down, dropping her hands and letting the glow around them fade. "You're right. Psion is the real enemy, not Ember. Do you have any idea where he's gone?" She hadn't actually dropped her guard completely - but then you'd have to be crazy to do that around Ember. "Not far enough." Ember shot a look at Paige. "You said if I run, he'll find me, but he already found me here! He would have killed a lot of people if all these metas hadn't been here. Why shouldn't I grab Aura and just-" "No, d-dammit! I don't want to run away! I want Argent! I want my sister back!" replied Aura, breaking through Ember's tirade in a voice that actually stunned the pyrokinetic into silence.

(Note that with extra effort, she can go anywhere in the universe!) I liked this idea because she's a very powerful character whose powers aren't very combat-friendly. She's built to be a performer first, with a DC 29 with Skill Mastery that makes her one of the biggest stars on any particular planet she happens to be on. But she's also a good face person in general, and talented at working the room. Her Gadgets are things she's picked up in her many travels, or from her many admirers across the galaxy! I figure she's got a Universal Translator tucked away somewhere in her costume, and maybe an emergency spacesuit for the times there's a space-going accident. For combat, something like Blast 6 (PFs: Accurate 4) will give you a nice little blaster pistol she keeps tucked away for emergencies and give you plenty of points to spend on other things. She's a walking source of Complications for herself and any passing Earth hero who might have to help her out of a jam! -

Aquaria is holding her action till after somebody tells her what to do. Singularity is waiting till Midnight or Wander go. Monsoon tries to grapple the crowd! Treating one half as a single entity, she grabs it (it can't make a 35 Grapple check). I believe it is now Midnight who is up.

Aquaria caught herself as she fell amidst the sudden deluge - not with her hands but with a long, pink tongue that erupted from her mouth like an extra arm. Spinning on a light pole, she executed a neat little flip before landing in the middle of a street covered in Frog-Bat-Lizard fluid. "Weird!" she declared, the sticky fluid mostly sliding off her smooth skin. "It's like the stuff in egg sacs! At least it's still warm," she added, reaching down and smearing another handful of it over herself. "I don't see any babies though - YIKES!" She jumped back up on top of the flagpole as doors began opening all over the neighborhood, dispersing dozens of people; parents, children, families, even what looked to be pets, soaked in the greenish fluid dumped out of the falling frog and chanting "COMMUNION! COMMUNION!" as they marched eastwards towards where the Communion robots were still being held in place by Edge. From the inside the house, especially on the upper floors, came screaming - people upstairs had missed the deluge, but they could see what had happened to their families. A little more willing to act on her own, Monsoon hovered in the air on one side of the street and gestured - and a full dozen people rose into the air, limbs twitching and voices still chanting, bodies still covered in the fluid that had come pouring down from the sky this Christmas evening. "I can't get the whole street!" she called.
