Aquaria stared, goggle-eyed, at the Lemurian monstrosity as it came lurching out of the water. Midnight's words shook her out of her shock, though, and with a nod she prepared herself for battle. With great determination, she bent her legs, down and down, her body lowering until her knees were actually level with the top of her head as she crouched for a spring. And what a spring it was! She vaulted straight into the air just as the Frog-Bat-Lizard whooshed overhead, flying up like she'd been shot from a cannon! Spreading her arms and legs, she caught herself by the fingers and long toes as she landed on the belly of the great beast, and soon was scuttling up its massive sides towards the head. For her part, Singularity had similar plans. She leaped up too, albeit with less of Aquaria's great speed, and grabbed onto the creature by the folds of its smooth belly. She punched it, hard, and then again, devastating blows that would certainly have crippled even the strongest superhumans. But the great beast overhead seemed to show no signs of injury, even as it slowly glided forward.

Aquaria: Move Action: Leaps onto the giant monster as it passes overhead! Standard Action: Makes another leap to get up to its face! Aura suddenly burst into tears, big, messy sobs like a child's. That was no surprise - Paige knew from personal experience how much Psion liked to keep his children children. Evidently he'd learned his lesson about leadership. She hugged Paige and buried her face in her shoulder, and through her tears said, "I just want to see Argent again! I miss her so much! I can't take being apart anymore!" - "Yeah...." For a moment, a short moment, Richard wasn't entirely sure how to describe this one. "Professor Psion's not dead," he finally said, sharing what seemed to be the most pertinent information. "The bastard stole Jump Psion's body and did God knows what with the kid's head. He came for Ember - but Aura and Ember both stayed when Hologram figured out what he did. He tried to tag the Atoms on his way out, but Aura and Hologram got in his head and got him out...hang on, did you really climb up the side of the plane?" he added. "Damn!" - Outside, Tesla Atom had left the Atomcraft to confront Ember - the two women were glaring at each other, force fields lit, and tension growing.

Increasingly battered though it was, the great ship overhead opened fire, pouring down devastating bolts of energy that chewed up the Lunar surface, sending clouds of crackling powder everywhere. The cloud spread wide, covering the heroes and the Knights they'd been in battle with, going so far as to sweep against the nearby Farsider dome. The cloud was thick and sparked with static energy, Lunar dust charged with whatever was powering the Communion ship's lasers. (Pure cosmic energy, as far as Jack of all Blades could tell, crackling bright the way a passing Star Knight might; or the way Willow had when she was jacked up on Gorgon.) In atmosphere they might have been choking on the energy-raddled stuff, but as it was they were simply blinded by the smoke. Still pierced along the side by an energy blade, Harrier stepped back into the cloud cover, wishing his suit's sensors penetrated such a rocky shield better. They could not miss at this range...

The great head was just breaching the surface as they reached the shoreline of Lincoln Park, whose old growth forest was an odd contrast to the urban development all around them. But their eyes were all on the cold grey waters of Puget Sound as something rose up, and up, rising from the water or being formed by it it made no difference. Its face and body were a frog's, eyes bulging wide and head a massive square the size of a small house, tremendous sheets of water cascading off it as what seemed to be a long, scaly underbody continued to extend. Behind it curled the long, wicked curve of a tail that ended in a jagged, ichorous point that dripped some unholy venom into the waters below. There were birds in this park most days - but they certainly weren't here now, the park's animal population instead fleeing into the dubious safety of the city with all speed. It was, judging by the still-docked ferry a few hundred yards down the beach, perhaps 160 feet tall. Massive wings stretched behind it as it roared a terrible roar, great bat-like wings that with a few flaps began to lift it out of the water, unholy Lemurian magic doing what physics could never have dreamed of. From Cobalt Templar's back, a startled Aquaria squeaked "Llamhigyn Y Dwr! The Frog-Bat-Lizard! Aaaah!" Come to think of it, the creature's face did look more like Aquaria's than an actual frog's. The great wings buffetted the air as the creature rose higher and bellowed an air-warping, near-deafening bellow that Aquaria just remembered to translate. "COMMUNION! COMMUNION!" And then with a roar it curled that black, dripping tail underneath it and fired a blast of searing venom over the heads of the heroes that splattered across a row of tennis courts and baseball fields, producing an acidic explosion that started fires and left behind pools of foul, burning black fluid that showed the power of the creature if it got out of the park, and not incidentally cut the heroes off from retreat!

http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4759461/=19! Injured and dazed. You know, I'll take it - gotta have somebody bleeding in this one! I will spend an HP to shake the dazed, though!

The ancient Lemurians had turned to magic to hold off their robotic attackers from the stars - something all the heroes lacked. But from the sound of things, it wasn't the kind of magic they wanted. What they did have was power, skill at violence, and the will to use both for the betterment of innocents. So they went to work - beheading robots and smashing them to pieces, crushing them beneath fountains of diverted river water, and otherwise either driving the proto-Communion drones back into their millennia-old cage or simply smashing them to pieces. Either way it seemed best to get everything back in the obelisk for the moment - capped off with a giant jar-stopper courtesy of Edge. They could hear the creatures still moving around inside, skittering against the metallic shell, but they couldn't tear away at what Mark built faster than he could make it. "This won't hold them forever, but maybe we can hold this on till the League can come toss them into space!" hazarded Edge as he concentrated on maintaining the plug. "The job is done," agreed Monsoon, obviously beginning to relax. "We've shown those robotic fiends that nothing can stand before the power of the Liberty League! Now, let's accept our due as the heroes of Seattle and try to-" Suddenly, Midnight's police band radio sounded - like most cities, Seattle reserved a frequency particularly for sending distress messages out to metahumans. "Attention, Liberty League! It's in Lincoln Park, there's something in Lincoln-" And then, the channel went silent. Lincoln Park, the Erins knew, was just a few miles away and had made a good local spot for mass corpse disposal. Er, it was perhaps three miles away - and within a good walk's distance of the White family residence. There was, from that distance, the distinct sound of screaming, and the churning of water and crumbling of brick.

"You go ahead and do that, then," shot back Ember, her eyes hard as she locked her gaze with Stronghold's. A curl of flame around a humanoid shape, she paced like a caged tiger between the Atomcraft and the crashed plane. When her grandfather didn't appear, she called out to the air, flames flashing from her nose and mouth in red and yellow curls. "Coward! You miserable, backstabbing, coward!" She added more words then, obscenities in English and Yiddish that scorched the very air. "Behold, the leader of the New Race!" she added in a taunt, gesturing to open air. - "The middle-aged is the best part," said Richard in a rare admission. "The hero stuff is just icing on the cake." He hugged his wife, glad they'd come through yet another wild day with their skins intact. Can't believe I fell out an airplane! He zipped around, checking on the injured people and helping guards and prisoners alike get unstrapped and out of the damaged plane. He left Ember for Hologram to deal with, knowing she was far better at talking down her unstable niece than himself. "Thanks, kid," he told Stronghold warmly, "you're all right." And with that he zipped up the side of the plane to meet Foreshadow, blinking as he came up through a hole in the window. "Did you fly this thing with the window out? That's radical, man!" he said admiringly, figuring the man must have used some kind of Foreshadow Jetpack to get up there. "Nice. Fast-Forward," he said, offering a hand to shake.

As Cannonade left in the company of his new friend, Nina was offended by the lack of psychic tampering she'd detected in her soul. What? How dare they not brainwash me into attempting Cannonade's murder? I am a mighty Arabian warrior, dammit! With a frustrated snarl, she stamped her foot and took off into the air, rising out of the city streets before the locals could take exception to some of the things she'd said. And done. Things were going to be difficult when Mark picked up his phone, she could tell. Not one for stealth, she trusted that Cannonade would pose a sufficient distraction to his new friend that neither of them would look up in the sky. It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a princess of Socotra!

Contributors wanted for ENCYCLOPEDIA OF WORLD COMICS: MANGA, ANIME, TINTIN, AND MORE COMICS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE ABC-CLIO (Greenwood Press Imprint) Frederick Luis Aldama (Ohio State University) Editor Christopher González (Texas A&M University-Commerce) Editor First wave of entries due on March 1, 2015 More than ever before, the medium of comic books is enjoying serious scholarly study. This two-volume set will take readers around the world between the pages of comic books to find out how this art form reflects and shapes culture. This comprehensive look at comic books outside the United States will show the medium’s significant impact within the different countries that constitute the planetary republic of comic book letters. The A-Z entries will show the relative importance of, for example, manga in Japan, bande dessinée in France, and socio-politically charged comics in Mexico, among many others. Taken individually and as a whole, the entries for each major country that cover conventions, histories, and cultural presence will demonstrate how each region creates a subsystem that collectively work together to build a planetary system of comic book storytelling. Individual entries will provide details specific to country and region. The overview essays will make apparent how all the pieces add up to a planetary system of comic book storytelling. Entries will cover the following regions: • Comics in the UK • Comics in France/Belgium/Switzerland • Comics in the Rest of Europe • Comics in Japan • Comics in Asia • Comics in India • Comics in South America • Comics in Mexico/Central America/Caribbean • Comics in the Middle East • Comics in Australia • Comics in Africa This comprehensive look at comic books outside the United States will demonstrate the importance of the significant contribution of other countries to the shaping of a planetary republic of comic book letters. The ENCYCLOPEDIA OF WORLD COMICS: MANGA, ANIME, TINTIN, AND MORE COMICS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE will show its readers how the making and consuming of comic book outside of the United States has been a significant presence in the shaping of a planetary republic of comic book letters. Entries will provide in-depth coverage of the many facets of comics, cartoon art, and graphic narratives across the globe. The two volumes will provide comprehensive coverage of this art of comic book storytelling. A-Z entries will range 500-1,000 words. Theme and overview essays will range from 1,500-2,500 words. All contributors receive author credit and access to e-version of the encyclopedia upon publication. Just wanted to clarify that I have no plans - I am ready to go here.

The azure-tinted "Star Knight", who had remained silent through melee and Communion attack alike, inclined its head up at the newly-arrived vessel as if surprised to see it. A regular Star Knight might have flown out of the way or up into battle to attack the enemy ship overhead, but these were by no means regular Star Knights. Instead it fired a blast of energy from its outstretched hand, one that passed through the force field overhead only to scatter harmlessly against the silvered body of the spaceship above. It spoke to the others in fast binary, a language that only a few of the assembled heroes could understand despite the rapid-fire 'shouting' it was doing over the noise of the battle. There is no help here! We should have sought the brass one!

Over their communicators came Monsoon's accented voice. "We are at the top of the wall! We are holding them off from here!" Looking over, it looked as though Nina was taking a continual firehose to the creatures that had avoided the targets around the obelisk and were still headed for the wall - Edge supporting his partner with a continual supply of water magically appearing in the air behind her. "We've got them pinned down here," said Edge, picking up the conversation as Monsoon went back to work. "Don't worry about us, concentrate on smashing these guys! No underground monsters are going to ruin OUR Christmas!"
