Monsoon drew back the blade, murder in her eye, and for a moment Cannonade had to wonder how far Nina was going to go on this charade! (The sword would only break against his skin, but even so!) A moment later, though, she was reaching down with her free hand to take his. "Come! Perhaps we are not so different after all. You fought with honor for your people. Let us stand together in peace, not in war." Ugh - I hope all those sessions with that tedious little Psion fellow are enough to protect my mind from supernatural malcontents. Father certainly paid him enough! If the mind control went the other way, she had secured Cannonade's permission to knock him into the river if necessary.

Citizen threw off the chimera as their fangs blunted against his armored body, glad for Miss Americana's solid construction. He didn't know if his plan had worked - but the important thing was that the monsters were paying attention to him and not his much more fragile teammates. Is this how Cobalt Templar used to feel? he wondered as he flew out over the central mass of the nanites. OK, sometimes you start out by hitting it with the gravhammer and see if that fixes it... He concentrated on the writhing hillock below him as he hovered some fifty feet in the air, redirecting the internal energies of the powerful reactor that powered the robot. As he did so, triple beams of red, white, and blue shot out of his eyes, lasers wrapped up in EM radiation that lit the air up like the Fourth of July as they struck the nanite swarm beneath him, lighting up the metallic surface below with a brilliant sheen!

Comrade Frost and Fleur de Joie made their way down the shaft the queen had used to drop its foul eggs, a thoroughly disgusting process that was only marginally improved by use of flowering plants to speed their way. But then they were down by the hatching pools in the building's big sub-basement, one of the foulest places Comrade Frost had seen in his long life. Foul chemicals bubbled and younglings swarmed in an organic soup all-too-clearly made of red, rotten meat, meat that had clearly once been flesh that walked the streets above. Before they could be distracted, Frost gestured quickly to a nearby glowing shape on the basement wall - a portal like the one that had brought them there in the first place! Together they stepped through, and found themselves somewhere...unexpected. The red brick walls and floor had not yet been replaced by concrete; the clanking furnace had not yet been replaced by central heating. But this was clearly the same room they had just left - albeit changed! From their sheltered position behind the furnace, Frost and Fleur could see a strange central apparatus, a crowd of figures, and a mad-eyed cult leader! There were over a hundred cultists, all wearing slime-green robes tied at the waist with beltchains made of bones both human and animal. At their arrival, the cultists chanted in unison in a language neither knew - some of them painting frantic symbols on the walls that matched what they'd seen on the walls of the other version of the building. The room stank of sweat and the blood staining the strange apparatus; the atmosphere tense and expectant. On the apparatus itself, a grim, almost scientific scene could be seen. Seven people, clearly helpless victims, were strapped head-down on tilted granite slabs inclined above another. An apparatus of shiny brass-colored pipework supported the seven-layered setup - which reached all the way to the ceiling.

On the roof of the wrecked skyscraper, the assembled heroes were joined by their guardian phalanx of giant bees, and a whole heap of trouble. "YOU GOT THE SUB-QUEEN? MUZT BEE WHAT ZTIRRED THEM UP!" The other nests were disgorging their own guardians in great swarms that made for a maddening noise - a mosquito's whine amplified a million-fold! It was a good thing the bees were keeping their distance, orbiting the skyscraper's ruined antennae like so many circling blimps, or the noise echoing over the dead city would have been absolutely deafening. "ONWARD, MY ZIZTERZ!" declared Super-Bee in a voice like thunder. "WHEN OUR NIECEZ NIECEZ TELL THIZ ZTORY, THEY WILL TELL THE ZTORY OF OUR VICTORY!"

There's no reason something this large could make a Reflex save. So that's a Drain of 6 - or 3 in this case, given that it's wearing down Impervious It now has a Tou of 12 and Impervious of 6 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4755021/= 30 OK, so it was Drained but not Damaged

I think a DC 24 save can't get through Citizen's Impervious 10, right? Anyhow, Citizen will use a Move Action to fly directly over the central mass. He will then use his Standard Action to heat vision that sucker. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4754960/= 19 Lemme know if a 19 hits, Giz!

Harrier is now staggered - take an HP, AA! Don't mind if I do, you handsome devil. The actions of the Star Knights (pink and yellow) are taken up reacting to Harrier. Yellow fires at the spaceship overhead and misses. Jack of all Blades, you are up!

Caradoc looked down at the gaping eyes of the corpse beneath his feet - he had seen enough to know a corpse when he saw it. They called for vengeance. Around him, the city burned and the bodies of its defenders lay in ribbons, desecrated before the eyes of the watching world so that its citizens might know the cold fires of entropy on their soul before the Doom Coil devoured their souls and destroyed their world. His limbs broken, an eye gone, Bowman begged, "Say something! Damn you! Say something!" a moment before Harrier's iron fist ended his life. As the Freedom League had fallen, the Omegadrones had said not a word. Why would they? They called for vengeance. Caradoc was back on the Moon, amid a scene of war against the Star Knights, with the Communion bearing down on them and his friends and lover at war with, at war with - my life means nothing. When the salmon-colored Star Knight stepped forward, burning energy weapon in its hands, Harrier knew exactly what he had to do. He stepped between the robot and Jack of all Blades and grabbed its arm, pulling the blade close against his abdomen. He felt Terminus steel rend and flesh burn beneath it, pain radiating through his body as he held that wrist tight. When he spoke, his voice was a harsh whisper that carried across the radio link among the heroes on the Moon. "We are not your enemies." BOOM! And with that, the sky erupted with a Hawking flash and radio explosion as space itself tore open! Erupting from the flash above came a lean, long silvery vessel, its lines showing no viewports, no windows, no features at all. A vessel of the Communion - and as great green bolts came erupting from the ship to rip and tear at the ground all around them, it was clear it did not come in peace!

He's about the size of a common frog but with a strength to make him a god among amphibians, wielding a mighty hammer that can cleave through almost any object his size. I've exaggerated the ability of frogs here a little bit here, but not too much. (You could give him some sort of poison if you want to make him a toad!) Mechanically he's built as a fusion of amphibian and Asgardian physiology. Up to you whether or not his Blast is lightning or a thrown hammer - you could save up enough points for Variable Descriptor as he learns more about how to use his mighty weapon. I figure carrying the hammer turns his need to stay moist into a Complication rather than an actual drawback. He could be a divine champion transformed into a frog - or maybe a frog given the power of the gods themselves! (Note that Throg is actually a man who became a frog who became a frog god in the comics - maybe a little too complicated here) Note that if you want a good solid frog deity, you need to turn to Egypt's Heqet (hence the Egyptian language; and don't forget we've seen Heliopolitans as PCs and NPCs already.) He's an excellent team scout given his small size and many mobility-enhancing abilities, though his desire to act like Thor (i.e., yelling and waving his hammer around dramatically) makes for an interesting complication - the role he may have had back home as the warrior against the giants may not really suit him as a three-inch tall frog. Good complications include his duty to his divine pantheon, his need to defend his home pond, or maybe the fact that he is a frog in a world of men! -

"Then I guess we'll have to Fast-Forward," said Richard without hesitation in response to Net Fly's comment, stepping away from his wife and the other meditating psychics. Looking down from the platform, they could see all of the great shape of the dish, as well as the big rotational arm that hung high above all the ones still on the ground. "First rule of stopping a space invasion, kids. The bad guy wants to land on Earth? Don't let him!" And with that he was off, time stretching like a rubber band around him as he dashed across the very face of the great radio telescope, and out of sight through the forest at mind-breaking speed. As the heroes watched, something like a slow-motion tornado began to form beneath the descending alien vessel, the rising column gradually holding it in place...for now!

When they arrived, they found those they'd be protecting sitting in lotus position in a circle around the Scarab, all of them resting on the observation platform of the famous Arecibo Radio Telescope. Fast-Forward took a moment to bend down next to Hologram and kiss her cheek, then turn to the others. "All right, people, these are the people we're protecting. And the telescope too," he added with an instant's thought. "They wouldn't be here if the telescope wasn't important, so we've got to protect that too." Crap, I sound like one of Will's duller classmates. Well I'm sorry, but I'm not the leader guy! I'm the guy who sasses the bad guy and then punches him through the roof! "This is Triakosia," he added, a little belatedly, making introductions so that everybody knew each other. "Let's be ready to kick some butt, and...oh, damn!" Over their heads, the sky was noticeably beginning to darken, clouds seeming to spring up at super-speed as if watching a time-lapse video from below. "That's gonna put a crimp in our shorts..." Sure enough, on closer inspection the cloud appeared to be descending as it headed for the heroes, a half-visible shape forming inside the descending black cloud bank as if they were going to be swallowed up - or crushed!

"Oh for fun's sake." Richard liked to think of himself as a veteran hero - or at least a veteran, but you didn't have to be in the business thirty-something years to know this was obviously the bad guy. At least the writer's not doing any of that moral ambiguity crap! He wondered for a moment, having had that thought, who exactly the writer was here? _Is_ this a crossover? If Paige and I run around here long enough, are we going to run into TV versions of ourselves? It was a dizzying thought - the kind it was best to avoid at super-speed! "Crossovers..." Fast-Forward moved in, "...are nothing but..." his fists flying at super-speed, "...a sign of two writers..." as he zipped all around their antagonist. "...who can't tell one story!"

ic Incursion: Meaning in Destruction
Avenger Assembled replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Unknown Space
It all seemed pat after that - maybe too pat. Lelak disappeared past their port-side, flashing out halfway across the solar system, and then rocketed towards the planet beneath at relativistic speeds so fast that he blurred an impossible shade of blue as he struck the planet on the nearest hemisphere. With a flash of silent light, the heroes watched from their spaceship as the planet's surface erupted in volcanic fury and began to fracture, just as the great wormhole opened to swallow the planet up and send its fragments hurtling away to who-knew-where? The Communion ships, arriving to take up positions around the wormhole, completely ignored both them and the last remaining Hunger ship, instead forming a ring around the new gateway opened in the fabric of space. Of Lelak, and of the world of the Masters, there was no sign. As they watched, the Hunger ship moving close to theirs for a rendezvous, debris began to pour out of the wormhole - shards of broken metal and ships that gleamed and burned with the lights of freshly-lit plasma fires. The burning remains of Lelak's homeworld had hit _something_ beyond.- 102 replies

"FOOL!" Monsoon laughed manically, her hand closing into a fist. "Your culture is nothing but the surface scum clinging to the ocean of the future! And your so-called master race is nothing but the puling offspring of cowherds and the very BEASTS OF THEIR FIELDS! Come, maggots!" she taunted the angry, growing crowd of neo-nationalists below. "I have fought you before! Your forces are to me and mine as ants beneath a boot!" And then, greatly daring, she landed before the crowd, heedless of the danger. This had better work - my reputation has taken blows today, my body deserves better. She drew her scimitar, the blade raised above her head, and called "Come and take it!"

You can talk! Was there joy in binary? It was hard to say - but the stuttering of 0s and zeroes certainly sounded emotional. I thought both of you were dumb when that other one didn't answer me! My name is Salmon. What's yours? Then followed an inarticulate eruption of ones and zeroes from Pink as Jack of all Blades sprang into action and sliced its compatriot in half, the top half arcing away under the low lunar gravity. low lunar gravity. As Jack shoved his hand into the rent in the armor, he realized he could feel something inside - something soft and flexible covering something hard and unyielding that nevertheless did not feel like the rent armor that had given him the energy. The top half of the Crimson knight landed next to Caradoc, who truthfully was so surprised that he had not moved or spoken during the whole affray. It rolled, and as it did the top half of the armor retracted into a tiara-like shape around the forehead of the fallen creature within, revealing the dessicated, grey-scaled face and torso of an alien whose blank white eyes stared endlessly at nothing. Jack realized, as he saw the figure, that it was a humanoid torso, or what was left of one, that he had been feeling inside the armor. "01100011 01110010 01101001 01101101 01110011 01101111 01101110!" exclaimed the goldenrod Star Knight in the rear. "Vengeance!"
