  1. Fast-Forward punches the guy? http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4750265/= 24 If that does hit, he's using his velocity punch with Autofire and Secondary Effect, with a DC 25 Tou save. If not, let me know!
  2. These bear the marks of Lemurian magic, the unholy and mystic magic that led to the fall of Atlantis itself. This is Lemurian writing, and Lemurian architecture - this obelisk has been under Seattle for thousands of years. They are marks of binding, the sort a wizard might use to contain some force too powerful to destroy. They are not something you would put on something you sought to hold voluntarily - the process of being bound would be physically and psychically painful, and nothing that came out would ever want to be your friend. And that's all he can get from a straight Arcane Lore check.
  3. "Don't engage the constructs!" Citizen called up to Hronos, wondering if there was something wrong with the robot's auditory receptors. "Terrifica!" he called urgently, "don't stand on the construct material, there's still enough here to eat human flesh!" And robot too, if he wasn't careful. If there's that density of active nanites here in the body of the swarm, the matrix itself must be super-dense. It'll probably crack open a city if it hits it..."Hronos, listen!" He rocketed up into the air and grabbed one of the constructs bedeviling the other machine and proceeded to use it as a battering ram and baseball bat, battering apart the other nanite-made constructs in percussive punctuation to his instructions. "Fly around and keep hitting them; keep engaging the nanite swarm and force it to waste mass attacking you! Terrifica and I will work on the center mass and try and disable the central processor!" And with that, heedless of any further constructs produced by the swarm, he turned around and roared towards that mound in the middle of the 'lake' of nanites, his jet boots roaring as compressed air rushed out the bottom!
  4. Well, that's not good for him! http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4749591/= 12 Can't make that Sense Motive! http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4749592/= 8 He fails that Reflex save. His Tou is now 5 Tou vs 34 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4749594/= 5 Welp, you got him.
  5. ...I appear to have forgotten to put saves on Citizen's sheet. Well, whoops. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4749579/= 17 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4749583/= 13 Luckily, he just makes the Reflex save, and soaks the damage with his Impervious. Citizen will immediately take off with his Move Action and fly into the air. - I will leave it up to you to decide if Terrifica stays to fight the ones on the ground, EP. Citizen will then fly up to the ones surrounding Hronos. He will take 10, power attacking for +5. So that's a DC 37 Tou save for all of them. If he has anything left from Move-By Action, he will head back towards the center of the anomaly.
  6. On a closer inspection, using his midnight mist-enhanced vision to see into the darkness inside the obelisk, Midnight could see no signs of factories or machines inside. As far as he could tell, it was a cylinder of faux-pewter, featureless on the inside save for the scrabbling marks left behind by the claws of the robot spiders that were tearing down the campus at the sight of him. As he snapped, he became aware that one group of spiders, occupied with dismantling the campus library and transforming it into more of their own number (giving the new batch a decidedly mixed appearance as masonry and metal became part of their construction), had obviously noticed him and begun scuttling towards man and bike! - "Crap crap crap...." Back streetside, Edge and Monsoon had taken up positions reinforcing the wall that separated the populated areas nearby from the spiders on the other side. As the numbers inside the wall grew, they were beginning to spill over the side! "I can't make it any higher!" called Edge to the others, "it's just unsupported concrete, it'll fall over and they'll all come through at once." As a spider approached, scuttling madly with limbs made of lightpoles and a face like a buzzsaw, Aquaria balanced on one large foot, straightened a long, gangling leg - and kicked the spider's head clean off with a screech of ripping steel. "Stop talking like that!" she yelled, as the head, still buzzing and hissing threats, went over the side. "There's not even a Lemuria anymore! And Atlantis is underwater anyway, so what do you think you're doing?" "I can move the river, but it'll take time," said Monsoon quickly. "We can see if they drown!"
  7. That's fine, EternalPhoenix - Sharl isn't used to carrying people and he's so strong he may not have noticed.
  8. "When the Communion comes, they will destroy inorganic as well as organic life," offered Pink, emotion stirring in that voice. "We come to liberate you so that you-" Red held up a hand, bringing the others to silence. "It cannot..." That mechanical head cocked, checking the group as Caradoc made his arrival to stand alongside his employer and her allies. Miss Americana followed, reinforcing for the Star Knights that they had the advantage neither in numbers or power. "All are the same. We cannot speak for what Star Knights have said. Mentor has been corrupted by a Communion virus. We stand apart from what we once were. But the enemies of all life approach your planet. What will you do?" Caradoc badly wanted to ask them "What do you mean, you 'stand apart'?" but he remained silent in the presence of so many people so much better at asking questions, his hand warily on the handle of his glowing blade. The atmosphere was tense, sand shifting beneath their feet.
  9. The fight, when it came, was anti-climatic. Comrade Frost was not one to appreciate strife, favoring fast, decisive blows in the middle of the night against unprotected targets, but even he was left with a strange sensation of dissatisfaction when it was all done. Ice crunched under his feet as he walked among tangled plants to where the fallen monsters lay amid the things that had destroyed or bound them - the dusty aftereffects of sonic shouts, licks of flame and barbed plants, and the rocky underpinnings that had smashed their way up through the floor. Looking around, Comrade Frost's team, even their all-too-human companion, had been unhurt. "Well, that was...easy enough," said Frost cautiously as he stood by the half-frozen queen, left insensate and immobile by repeated ice attacks. Ready to leap away at the first sign of trouble, Frost peered into the hole where the queen's eggs had fallen. "Oh, thank God! Oh thank God!" Daniels, their escort, looked around wildly amid the scene of devastation, tears in his eyes. Running over, he kicked the head off one of the frozen drones and looked ready to desecrate the corpse before turning to the others. "Now all we need is to take out the other nests in the other buildings with their queen, and then the ones in the other cities, and then we can close the gateways that brought you here." He seemed to realize what he was saying and paled. "That is, er, the only way we have found to close a gateway. Close the passageway from the side where it opened." "We need not travel by your road," said Frost, "We have no fear of trapped in your world." He frowned, standing up from where he'd perched over the foul-smelling hole in the ground. "There is another gateway here. Probably where those extra eggs went." He hmmed. "Anopheles would seek to raise their young on homeworld. Gateway here must be original one." Just then, Fleur de Joie's commlink sounded with a familiar, booming, buzzing voice. "WE GOT THEM! LAZT OF THE BIG MOZQUITO THINGZ." That did explain the noises they'd heard during their own battle. "BAD GUYZ LOOK REALLY ZTIRRED UP, LIKE WE'RE AFTER THEIR HONEY!" "I am dimensional portal," said Frost suddenly, as if coming to a snap decision. "And cannot be stung by insects. I can go through and close original gateway, and return to Earth-Prime on own time."
  10. "Any way we dance is good by me," said Sharl with a smile. He leaned close and whispered in her ear. "Long as your friend doesn't mind me monopolizing you for a while..." Having grown up in a monitored society, the idea of everyone seeing him with his girlfriend was no threat - after all, he wasn't going to be the star of the show. Well, maybe not this show... "And I'm all tuned up, by the way, so when we're out there dancing, you can put your hands wherever you want and I'll stay in one piece." He drew back, catching sight of Set with his famous companion, and Eliza felt him tense for a moment. But after another moment he shook it off, trying to stay in what promised to be a very interesting moment if he kept things up. He was with Eliza, he was having a great time, and nobody was getting in his business.
  11. http://orokos.com/roll/244756= 31! But with a higher modifier, Fast-Forward will go first.
  12. The Traveler had to slam on the acceleration to catch up with the speeding Lelak, whose velocity in atmosphere was enough that he was already in the exosphere by the time she managed to put the ship between the ship between him and his escape. "No, damn you, let me go! I have to reach enough velocity so I can destroy the planet! I will not let those vermin have what we worked so hard to build - I will not let a million years of our history fall into their hands!" Out in space, they'd been joined by Solar Sentinel and the last remaining Hunger ship - even as the Communion vessels they were tracking took up orbit on the other side of the planet. As spatial anomalies rippled through the planet's atmosphere below, it was clear their time could be measured in seconds.
  13. "Have you!? I am but one, and there will be millions!" Nina didn't speak a word of Dutch, but she knew what Cannonade had planned to say in response - and with a little help from the AEGIS translators was able to give something back in a Dutch that sounded, well, like a foreigner speaking the language! "Let's review our recent history, shall we? In the last century you ducked inside your windmills for one war, you were overrun in days in another, and then the people you tried to rule threw you off in four years!" Nina was already rehearsing the public statement of contrition she'd be giving to the Dutch press, probably with her American boyfriend at her side, once all the exciting stuff was done. Ah, to be free of public opinion! "But there is strength in your country," she conceded, "strength from the brave people outnumbered by the sheep on each side, and strength from the future that's coming. You taught us the lash four hundred years ago - but now the worm will turn! When Amsterdam bends its knee to Jakarta, how the men who built this place will weep!"

  16. ~I love you too, baby.~ And then there was the shock of impact, first of the landing gear hitting the half-frozen earth, then the ominous crunch as the clamps holding the prison transport tightened around the aluminium of the small jet. But Foreshadow's guess paid off; both craft held as they churned up soil and brown grass, skidding madly along until the final impact just short of the local county road. Peering up from the pilot seat of the larger craft, Foreshadow could see the Atomcraft had made its landing just across the way, scattering a small herd of dairy cattle as it landed just across the way. Peeling himself out of the seat where he'd buckled in an instant before the crash, Fast-Forward's feet hit the deck; and he reconned. He ran around the plane, the field, and over to the Atomcraft, before returning to Paige's side just as she was unbuckling herself. "Atom kids are OK; even Chase is waking up. No sign of...your dad." He moved to checking on the now-awakening prison guards and other prisoners, glad to see everyone had come through the crash with no more than bumps and bruises. "It's Foreshadow up there," he commented to Hologram, "must have shown up after all." Her job done, the now-unstoned Aura was getting to her feet, looking around the cabin nervously. Outside, Stronghold and Ember Psion landed just a few feet apart from each other, facing each other warily near the fallen planes.
  17. That'll do it! Up close, the obelisk is covered with time-worn arcane symbols and words written in mystic languages - though the symbols and words seem to be freshly burnt black against the pewter skin of the obelisk itself. The end that opened (and that has now stopped disgorging spiders) is especially blackened.
  18. Back at Lelak's stronghold, the sky crackled with energy as wormholes began to wrap their way around the planet. They found Lelak himself floating in the sky above the shelter that had become a tomb, his black hair whipped madly by winds as the atmosphere of the nearly-dead world was buffeting by the growing spatial instabilities all around it. "At last! After a million years!" he exulted, his voice crackling to life on their radio by no technological means. "Our destiny will be reclaimed and the galaxy will be ours again!" He looked at their ship, still in the air, and said, "You have saved yourselves, my Lowly friends, even if you do not know it yet! Your grandchildren will thank you for what you have done here today!" He looked up in the sky and said, "Your enemies approach. You should..." His eyes widened, and he made a strangled noise, right through the growing wash of static. "Isopterans! They..._they_ are your Communion?" His face grew frantic as he shouted, "Lor-Van, the planet they destroyed! Did they open a spatial gateway like the ones around this planet?!" At the news they had, he screamed in utter despair. "No! Not...not by my own hand!" And with that, suddenly he was gone - rocketing into the atmosphere, and out and away, until Solar Sentinel reported he'd reached the upper atmosphere - even as the planet itself was shifting into another place entirely. It was time to move!
  19. This is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this with us.
