Though locked down tight enough that it will require many, many days to pry free. The most that can be said is that he's unconscious, I suppose.

Player Name: AvengerAssembled Character Name: Citizen Power Level: 12 (250/250PP) [252] Trade-Offs: +3 DMG/-3 ATK, +3 TOU/-3 DEF Unspent PP: 0 In Brief: Robotic defender of two worlds Alternate Identity: Sharl Tulink Identity: Varies [Public on Earth, Secret in Tronik] Birthplace: Tronik Occupation: Superhero [Plankton Boat Tender] Affiliations: Tronik, Miss Americana, Young Freedom, Temperance Family: Mother, father, sister - back in Tronik Base of Operations: Emerald City Age: 21 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian [Lor] Height: 6'0 Weight: 180 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Black Description: In his long black coat and dark sunglasses, with his pale skin and floppy black hair, Sharl Tulink looks like any other young citizen of Tronik - somebody utterly forgettable, albeit very personable when you actually talk to him. No one would ever peg the mild-mannered plankton boat tender as Citizen, Tronik's first and only superhero. In the air he uses his fantastic speed and his ability to manipulate 'reality' to avoid being holoed by the cameras that are otherwise omnipresent in the heavily secured, high-tech society that is Tronik. Power Description: Sharl is primarily a classic 'flying brick' - he flies, he punches things, he's nigh invulnerable, he sets things on fire just by looking at them! It's pretty badass. His 'heat vision' takes the form of brilliant red, white, and blue beams coming from his eyes in imitation of Miss Americana's finger blasts. History: Sharl Tulink grew up knowing there was something more than the world where he'd been born - the cold, sterile, overcrowded city of Tronik on the distant world of Neo, an isolate cut off from the Lor Republic, the only city on a watery world around a cold red star so close that it forever hovers in the sky over the city, whose location in the Halbmond means it is in one of the few habitable spots on the planet. He looked for adventure, followed rumors of aliens and strange visitors from other worlds, and dreamed of finding another world. And at the age of sixteen, falling through a dimensional portal, he did just that! Of course, that was when he discovered the truth about Tronik - his home was a computer program, a digitized city rescued by heroes of a primitive world decades earlier. He learned about those heroes - first Miss Americana and Dragonfly, then the friends he fought alongside at Claremont Academy, and became a hero in his own right: Citizen, Tronik's one and only superhero! He even rescued another Tronik from Erde, creating a parallel system now in the Centurion's Sanctum alongside his own city - his own not yet knowing about the rescued much-abused parallel. As he prepared to graduate from Claremont Academy, he joined Young Freedom in battle against the Curator, the mad Preserver construct who had kidnapped and digitized Tronik in the first place. And there he died... But death has little meaning for machines, much less those deeply skeptical about the supernatural. Revived from a backup by Miss Americana, he returned to Tronik to act as their native superhero after graduation. He took a job as a plankton boat tender to get some privacy - and so he could come and go at will as a hero. After over a year of study, using material sent by Miss A and the Freedom League, he came to believe that he had finally found a solution to the problems of both Troniks. The Lor had the technology, the resources, the power, to reconstitute his people! And so he went to Lor-Van as a special technical ambassador to try and be the hero Tronik deserved. Until the Incursion came. He fought in space and on Terra, defending both his homeworlds and the Lor Republic, from its enemies. Now back on Earth, he's recently moved out west to find his identity, taking advantage of his powers to let him commute back to Freedom City (not to mention Tronik!) when necessary. Personality & Motivation: Around Tronikians, Sharl is a boy scout of virtue and bravery, the true champion of justice his sometimes-corrupt city needs. Whether laughing off laser blasts to the chest or punching through a criminal's door, he really is the titanium titan they need! In his secret ID, he's just another mild-mannered plankton boat tender. But away from Tronik, whether in his own ID or among humans, Sharl is a little guarded, hiding his insecurity with snark, argument, and the occasional bit of attitude. He's not a jerk - but he's rather less the squeaky-clean paragon of virtue. When he forces himself to, he's still the champion he is among his own people, he's just a little odder and a little more out of place. This world is not his home - it never will be. Powers & Tactics: Sharl is a mighty paragon, throwing big punches to start a fight, picking things off with his heat vision when necessary. He falls back on the heat vision when angry as well. He takes big hits for his friends! Complications: Atheist - raised in a dogmatically materialist culture, Sharl refuses to accept the reality of the divine and magic. Worse, he has a lot of trouble keeping these thoughts to himself. Copy - Sharl also has to help protect the other Tronik - the one from Erde. Dutemps Building - Many of Sharl's old friends have settled in Freedom City's DuTemps Building. Family - Sharl's family is still back in Tronik. Home - Tronik is a higher priority than Terra. Machine - in every way that matters, Sharl counts as a robot - he has no soul. Miss Americana - Sharl is ever-loyal to his old patron. Not from around here - Sharl is new to Emerald City and the Pacific Northwest in general. Outlander - Sharl is a non-human from an alien civilization, and still doesn't understand a lot about Terran culture. Rogue - Sharl's arch-nemesis has inspired other rogue AIs - and is a threat herself. Temperance - Sharl loves his girlfriend. "I, uh..." VINCE looked up at the ceiling. "Son?" A few moments later, the holographic display shifted - this time to their own ancient battle against the Communion. The distant recording, made by one of the Curator's drones, was narrated by the sinister cybernetic collector in an all-too-familiar voice. "Weakened from-the destruction of-the Vandals, the-Praetorians proved easy-acquisitions for Drone-#4053 and associated-units. The Delazatri-Empire collapsed soon-after, just as-Long History had-predicted. They were-no match for-" "Hey, hey, let's just-fast-forward through that," said Vince with a wave of his hand at the ceiling! And soon enough the voice did indeed speed up, worlds and planets flashing by at an incredible rate of speed, before the Curator's voice picked up again. From the date, this recording was nearly a thousand years later. "...believe-the Vandals have-taken up a-position inside the-Galactic Core outside-the reach of-my probes. Drones-dispatched for reconnaissance-purposes have not-returned. I-have had a-new experience-though, an entire-civilization dispatched-a distress signal-calling me to-save them-from a nova..." "There is-one final Vandal-incursion in the-files," said a voice like the Curator's, but higher and more male, like a boychild version of the robotic menace that had destroyed their lives. This time the Curator's voice sounded...drunk? Drugged? It was hard to tell. "Have-LEARNED many-interesting things-frommmm nanite-core in galactic-sphere. Why SHOULD I-not be WORSHIPED-as a GOD by-PRIMITIVE CREATURES-" "That was-four Terran years-ago, Father," spoke the voice from above again - VINCE's son? The Curator? "All records-from that period-were destroyed during-Tronik engagement that-altered consciousness."

I do share Ari's sentiment that you should go with the second idea. I think it has the most potential for distinctive stories. He doesn't really have a 'hook' for modern stories without that knowledge of the person he's waiting to be (or may be!) in the distant future. As to how he took over, I suggest an army of big, scary robots. If it's good enough for Dr. Doofenschmirtz, it's good enough for your guy!
-
Let's not derail Rav's thread by criticizing other players, Ari. Anyway - > Here's a similar build, Rav - though of course that guy has a slightly different powerset than your concept.
-
You can believe that without a roll! But you can roll Tactics to try and see what impression you get of what they're doing, sure.

"Oh, Montgomery it Juneau was Phoenix horrible Little Rock," the old woman babbled at Gabriel, terror blazing in her rheumy eyes. "They Sacramento came Denver out Hartford of Dover the Tallahassee sewers Atlanta, the Honolulu skies Boise, just...eating Springfield everyone Indianapolis! That was Des Moines just a few Topeka days Frankfort ago - but the war is Baton Rouge already over! I heard Augusta them eat Annapolis the President Boston on TV! I've lived by Lansing scavenging this St. Paul long but Jackson I'm starving and Jefferson City I don't have my pills Helena." She looked back at the sewer grate guarded by the bees, where a distinct cover of filthy slime lay over the spot where the manhole had once been. "A man I was hiding with Lincoln gave himself to them so Carson City he could die quickly - but they just Concord turned him into one of them Trenton!" She focused on Gabriel and spoke clearly, "Sonny-jim, are you an angel?" - The old Earth was still there and not so dissimilar from the one Gaian Knight knew - hell, it wasn't as alien as the Earth of 65 Million BCE that he'd visited earlier in the year! Closer to home, though, things were grim - he could feel vast underground tunnels just below the level of the city's sewer systems, tunnels full of things scurrying about like giant lumbering versions of ants or termites. There were young seething not far beneath their feet - the creature that had lashed out at the woman they had rescued was placed directly over one of those youngling hatches. Perhaps a feeder? Behind them, in an electronics store window, a voice suddenly started speaking - a human voice! A television had flared to life just behind them and a pretty, smiling journalist was looking back at them. Her story sounded like the usual mix of foreign policy crises, governmental squabbles, and local crimes and disasters - almost identical to what the heroes might have seen at home - with the exception of no mention at all of the Freedom League, or any other superhero for that matter. The broadcast began going grainy halfway through, and cut out just as the woman declared, "And now, a word from our sponsor - Kulikorps, your super-store!" "I might have seen this," Frost conceded, turning his back on the devastation and crossing his arms. "When I gazed between the worlds. But that broadcast is false!" he protested. "That had today's date!" His scowl blackened. "Someone is pretending all is normal. Among all these horrors!" -- The scene was grim wherever Fleur went - grim enough that she couldn't stay in any one place long. Lonely Point was smashed, the base itself overrun by what looked like gigantic army ants, and the ocean itself swarmed with unnameable waterbugs that ranged in size up to that of cars. Those same bugs had probably killed the people who had tried to flee by boat on the waterfront that Fleur found. From here she could see beneath the bridges - see the webs, waiting, and catch a hint of the spiders stirring within. The fields in the airport were clear enough of large predators, albeit swarming with large quantities of smaller insects. As she watched, outsized flies and bees writhed against each other in the overgrown grass - almost as the swarms were fighting over territory! And then in the Wharton State Forest, she stepped out of a tree on Happakuk Hill in the middle of a crowd of human survivors! A ragged bunch in black turtlenecks, they screamed in utter despair at the sight of her, eyes wide with mortal terror. "They've found us! Don't let it get the children!" Amid screams of unnatural anguish and mortal dread, men and women with assault rifles opened fire on her while others ran to gather up five or six terrified, raggedly-dressed children.

VINCE rubbed his hands together nervously. "Well, Dreamsicle, I'm not gonna lie to you, it's been a while." He counted off time on his fingers. "From what the boy tells me, and adjusting between Terran and Delaztri years, you were down there for..." He bit his lip then went on. "For about two thousand years. I'm sorry, kids, but the old place is gone. Listen, I'd have let you out a lot sooner, but I only got here myself a couple of years ago, and I only found out about this place today. The boy must have liked you; there were alarms in place to wake you up as soon as the Communion showed back up." He waited for the first uproar to die down before he added, "The Delaztri Empire is gone. 2000 years is a long time, even for space empires. It was no one thing, they just..." He shrugged. "Listen, I'm no historian, but from the files they just sort of fell apart. Their gods are still worshipped in parts of the Republic, the people are still there in a lot of places...but the Empire's dead."

Nina and Mark pulled close in a passionate embrace at his words, one cut short by Nina's still broken rib. "Ow," she said after a moment, gingerly laying back down on the hospital bed. "I..." She squeezed his hand tight, looking up at him, and changed the subject before her lips could betray her. "I will need things, Mark. Half of the bedroom closet, and a place to put what I have from my apartment. And a job. One I find for myself," she added, meeting the suggestion she knew he was about to make. "I will not just live on your charity." Nina had always been good about kicking in for things like food and entertainment before - but of course that had been when she'd lived on an allowance that was now going to be bone-dry. "Baby, I didn't even think about money till you brought it up," he assured her, which was perfectly true. "And you know I wanted to make this a more long-term thing. I knew I'd never find another girl like you," he added. "So about that other thing..." It was evidently something of a familiar subject "Not with the pink costume," said Nina, shaking her head firmly. "It is not what all the girls wear! Look at you two," she called to Wander and Midnight, just a little strain in her imperious voice. "You have no flowers or pink sparkles on your costumes! And even if Midnight were a woman he would not!" "Hey, it wasn't _all_ pink," Mark shot back, "and I was willing to wear it too if you switched first! And you said you liked parts of it!" "I did like the crown," she conceded reluctantly. "But it needs more blue and white. More Socotran colors."

"That's right, folks, and it's pretty bad," said VINCE, speaking up immediately when the subject of the Communion came up. "Here, let me show you to our briefing room." He led them up a staircase that folded out of the floor at their approach. The wall at the end writhed apart as they reached the summit, leading them into an oddly featureless room dominated by a flat circular table. As they were all citizens of a galactic empire, they recognized a galactic map well enough - the old Milky Way's stars and spiral arms didn't look changed! The map was dominated by the blobby shapes of various interstellar civilizations - and marked by ominous silvery circles that VINCE soon identified, gesturing with a long wooden rod that he had produced seemingly from nothing. "These are, uh, Communion sightings we've detected. Wormholes, ships, the whole nine yards. Wherever they've been - they're not playing around anymore. They're here in Grue space, they're all through the Khanate up here at the edge of the spiral arm, and of course right there at the old Lor capitol." He swallowed hard and added, "They, uh, they took it out. They dropped a wormhole on it or something, I don't know!" He threw up his hands. "Listen, I've seen enough bad stuff in my time, I didn't go prying into the details..." He wiped his forehead, the hologram visibly sweating. "My boy estimates maybe half the population made it offworld. Everybody's in retreat. But it's early in the game, right? We'll rally and fix things up!" VINCE was doing his best to keep the conversation directed, but all the Praetorians, being citizens of a galactic empire, could instantly see that something was wrong with the map. The stars were in the right places, mostly, and the galaxy itself was shaped the right way - but the shapes of those galactic civilizations, the names of their planets, the focus of the map itself - everything was off!

"Sure thing," said VINCE seriously - well, almost seriously. "Curry's getting a holobriefing room upstairs ready for you guys as soon as the ice cubes here defrost." He gave a cheerful wave as the Praetorians began their awakening, standing beside Paradigm as if nothing was amiss. "Man, you're an colorful bunch!" he exclaimed in surprise. "Coordinated too, I like that, very stylish." He snapped his fingers and his own colors changed - his black and white alien costuming turning orange and white to match Paradigm's colors. "Look, we're all on the same team. Hey, Paradigm," he called. "Welcome to freedom! I'm your host VINCE, and you already know the lovely Paradigm here!"

Passing through the glowing mystic portal, the heroes felt a moment of vertigo and a distinct sensation of nausea - followed by the faint, unmistakeable sound of insects buzzing. And then the wispy darkness of the portal cleared and the heroes found themselves in a deserted downtown street, one that from the skyline was clearly a close double of Freedom City. The sun shines brightly in a clear sky. Shop windows look out on wide sidewalks; skyscrapers tower on either side. It is only above and below that anything looks abnormal. The upper reaches of the various skyscrapers all look infested by something, a pale waxy growth that has blotted out most of the top stories. Things flew overhead, and crawled on the surface of those massive buildings - things that were not planes. And then there were the bodies. Businessmen, derelicts, ladies in furs, even pigeons and stray dogs -- all dead. Some looked pale and ghastly, completely drained of blood. Others still had blood in them, or rather around them, pooled around their bodies, but their eyes and the soft parts of their bodies were eaten away as if by animals. Lines of bloody circular welts mark the skins of some. Frost cursed at the sight of the horrors around them, as a sign of his distractedness actually crossing himself in the Eastern Orthodox fashion, and cleared away for the rest of the heroes to arrive. For their part, the bees took up an uneasy guard around the portal, deferring first to Fleur de Joie, and then to Super-Bee, about what to do next. "Well...this is less pleasant than it looked. Living people are here," he insisted, "in this place, in this very city. some close by, some more distantly, but this is..." Frost whitened slightly. "This is recent. Days, or less." Just as they were all on scene, the heroes heard a distinct metallic clanking around a corner. A hunched-over bag lady, dressed in a ragged overcoat, pajamas, and galoshes, wheeled a shopping cart onto the street as if carnage, superheroes, and giant bees were all a perfectly standard thing. The vagrant ignored the heroes and set to looting the corpses, babbling to herself all the while. When she passed a manhole in the street, the cover burst high into the air. Suddenly a long white tentacle shot out for the screaming woman - just before a breath of flame from Super-Bee set it alight! With a terrible shriek from beneath their feet, the giant limb retreated back into the sewers.

He gets a 7 so he's in bad shape either way! I'll have him spend an HP to reroll that. 24 With a 24, he is unhurt either way - but down an HP! OK, initiative time for the people in the stealth plane too. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4700478/= 12 Wildcard: 12
