Kimber's icy scream did indeed freeze the nanites, laying down a layer of solid metal that briefly stopped the flow - a layer that cracked visibly as she watched, more nanites spilling out even as frozen particles fell like snow instead of rain. She could slow the flow, but evidently not slow it down as it came dripping down towards the others! Tarva had been ready to die earlier, but something about the frantic activity of the heroes forced her into action. Chanting in a rapid-fire tongue of cold blasphemy, she summoned shadowy phantoms over their heads - gibbering forms that blocked the light from overhead and the falling rain of nanite solution that was rapidly threatening to become a flood. It pattered sickly against the shield that protected them, and no one could say who it might have hit without Tarva's protection. "Don't worry about my nakedness," she reassured Kimber, "he is only mentioning what I lost so that I might suffer for it as my soul is devoured by his machines!" Wraith could see two obvious exits - an irising octogonal door on one side of the small space at the base of the huge room, and another smaller entrance that was a nearly perfect circle, built directly into the floor on which they stood. "He is watching us! Act now!" Tarva called with the terror of the imperious.

The rocks down here were pretty typical for an ancient seabed - for the tens of millions of years that lay between this moment and when Tarrant had started this week, rocks hadn't changed that much in the interim. As they approached the volcano's basin, though, the surrounding sedimentary rocks seemed to stiffen up - as if some ancient power had hardened them long, long ago. It was nothing Gaian Knight couldn't handle, but it did mean more effort. In the rear, Fast-Forward kept up his camera work, filming with a highend smartphone and occasionally commenting on what they were seeing. Richard shifted in his leather jacket as they headed deeper underground, thinking about his wife's claustrophobia. He didn't share it - but the fact was they were very deep underground indeed! He kept his rebreather handy, acutely aware of the environmental hazards once they started to deplete oxygen. As they skirted the edge of the basin, looking for a way in that wouldn't compromise the surrounding rocks, he cracked open the Tome of Theurgy and found its pages glowing the way they had back when he and Paige had got Huehuecoyotl to make a cameo appearance on the show the year before. "Awesome..." he muttered under his breath. For her part, Tiamat could _feel_ the being that waited for them on the other side of the rocks - now that they were this close, she could feel the coiled power like her own magnificent draconic body curled over a horde, an ancient being of almighty power that had been young when the world was new. And then, as they penetrated the outer reaches of the basin beneath the volcano, an eye opened in the ultimate darkness of the cavity before them - one that glowed not red, not blue, but fiery white. It was impossible to see more of the great Ghorummaz at first, until the glow from that single opened eye began (as their eyes adjusted) to expose the outlines of a basalt-cut form of draconic might that seemed to glow, just slightly, with the red glow of inner flames. In the darkness of the cavern, which stretched high above their heads and down below further than they could see, there was no sound - there was Ghorummaz, the rocks around, the distant, glittering colors of raw minerals and gems beyond count, and the heroes themselves.

All right, Fast-Forward doesn't want to blow up Pyramid Plaza if he can help it, so it's time for maaaagic! He'll use Dazzle 12 (visual) (blinding light of Asteroth; Extras: Area [General, Burst], Secondary Effect) {48/48} and tag as many of the dupes as he can. -
Freedom City With one last effort that seemed to take everything from her, Beth Walton-Wright pushed - and heard Cassandra's exclamation of joy a moment after her own cry of ultimate exertion wracked the air. "It's a girl!" But as another contraction came, Beth bore down again, knowing her job wasn't over! - Southern Belle lay discarded on the grass - even the heroes with no magical gifts could see her fading, the colors and costume created by the spiritual possession beginning to transform back into their original forms. For the more spiritually inclined in the group, the face of the former Confederate heroine was visible - aging by the minute, it was as if all the years were catching up to the phantom's soul at once. "She's gone," croaked Mary Hammer, with what might well be her last breath. "She's gone, and she didn't take me with her..." She looked up at Temperance and asked, "What's going to happen to me?"

"Yes," declared Harridan immediately. "We must see our countryape and take him back to civilization, where he can recuperate from his time in the tender mercies of soft-handed hairless fiends!" He was in the process of heading towards the mansion when Hologram's psychic message came in, and with a glance at Velocity Edge began to improvise. Angry gorilla of dubious intentions with a heavily-armed force of ape soldiers at his back? Just another day in the life for UNISON's premier super-agent - even if, he had to admit, he hadn't actually faced this particular crisis. -He can't have just taken over,_ he thought first to Hologram as she read his mind, then as the message was sent to Velocity. _As far as I know the king is still in power there, I mean there'd have been a big thing if there'd been a coup...- "Woah woah, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Listen, we're not going to keep you from seeing your ape, but he's just come out of a really bad situation, and he may not be ready for all these guys at once," he went on with a nod to the small army that was following their leader - for good or for ill. "Why don't we just make it the three of us heading that way?" he suggested to Harridan, the big ape furrowing his ridged brow as he considered the offer.

Frost poured along after Sagittarius, leaving behind him a trail of dead grass and even one flash-frozen tree, but the archer proved too nimble for him to do more than 'tag' - he scored her costume with frost marks in more than one place, but he did no particular damage besides what he had already done. _Damn! I really had my hopes up when she had that flaming arrow out,_ he thought irrelevantly, glad as always that there were no psychics on the Freedom League right now _but she just had to miss! Life is a difficulty_. He didn't speak out loud; he'd long since learned that the most effective strategy was to present himself as what he really was - an unholy force of nature, a whirling cloud of icy white fog marked only by two glowing red eyes at its very heart - eyes that seemed to stare straight into Sagittarius' soul!

Frost is going to activate his Flight again and fly over to surround Sagittarius. He'll attack her again, this time with his Fort-based Paralyze. As usual he'll All-Out Attack by +2. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4649207/ = 24 OK, that does hit. That's a DC 22 Fort save for her.

Thought was mother to the deed as Fast-Forward took Hologram by one hand and Cannonade by the other. "Grab on, Rick," he said seriously as Slamdance joined the circle, and then - he didn't have a lot of experience being powered by other speedsters, but Richard still knew his 'look' was different. All around them the city seemed to slow down to a near-crawl, then to an almost-perfect stillness, before Fast-Forward called "Run!" and they all ran together, the static city flashing by so fast that without the experienced speedster to guide them the group might have crashed into a building! As it was, in an instant they were dead center of the Pyramid Plaza complex, looking around for trouble -
Zipping around faster than lightning could strike, Clock Queen dodged her way out of the psionic eruption of entropic energy, cursing at the unfamiliar sensations. As for Kyogen, Cho distinctly saw the masked-face woman turn and take the hit full in the face even as the grass shriveled briefly around her - but the iron-willed future dictator looked unaffected by her power. Clock Queen was instantly in motion when she saw her comrade staggered by the psychic assault, grabbing her by the arm, and Errant felt a sudden cascade of super-speed racing through his mental link with the future dictator, breaking their mental connection (and his hold over her) as her brain accelerated beyond his ability to grab it. Up in the sky, Voortrekker and the Red Mystic had been nearly directly overhead for the blast and they'd both taken the full brunt of the effect. "Agh! Kill you! Kill all of you!" Voortrekker landed directly in front of Kyogen, who'd been left exposed by the blast and Clock Queen's arrival by her side and advanced on the villain, firing an machine gun volley that tore through the trees behind them and ricocheted through the now-fleeing, panicking ground beyond. "Kill you-" For her part, under siege and in mortal peril, Kyogen flipped up her knife and - stabbed Voortrekker through the left eyeslit of his suit. Screaming in agony, he erupted upwards, his weapons firing wildly, the Red Mystic in close pursuit, skidding wildly over the crowd and just over Thoughtspeed and Errant's heads, sending a volley of machine guns bullets ripping through the all-too-human flesh around them. As people screamed in terror, the heroes could only watch in sick horror as the linked figures of the mortally wounded battlesuit and the mystic trying to save his life flew over the nearby houses and slammed into a nearby commercial block with a blinding flash of red light and a deafening BOOM that knocked everyone off their feet!

A whirling white fog suddenly landed directly in front of Sagittarius, the red-eyed, malevolent form of Comrade Frost appearing just inches from the archer's front sights. Wordlessly, he tore the glove off his right hand and held it up in front of his enemy, and as she watched, his palm glowed with a cold blue light that chilled her to her very marrow. She pulled back an arrow but it froze to the bowstring as celestial cold erupted from Frost's hand, a sudden torrent of icy wind that blasted the would-be assassin back into the very depths of the woods and killed plants in a cascade of ice and frost directly in front of the Russian ice controller. It left a white triangle of flash-frozen grass and falling snow that reached out into a patch of suddenly dead forest. When he heard her hit a tree, he began walking towards the sound, adding for Velocity, "Porheps you could check area and see?"

Frost uses his Area Attack vs. Sagittarius - as usual All-Out Attacking for +2 so that his DC to hit drops to 16 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4645126/ = 34 hits! Almost a crit, but not quite - ah well! That'll be a DC 27 Tou save for Sagittarius.

Even as he hit the ground, Comrade Frost wasn't solid anymore - instead he spilled backwards in a swirl of icy fog across the soaking-wet highway beneath his feet, the water freezing to ice at his touch as the swirling cloud that had once been Dimitri Peshkov took in his new surroundings. Peering into the sky with red eyes that saw heat like bloody crimson trails against the blackness of the sky, Frost saw Aquarius first. For an instant, surrounded by the cold, thunder rumbling overhead and rain falling through his form, he was at Halbe again, watching Donar fight to the last amid piles of the dead - but then he was back in Pennsylvania in 2014 again, and he knew he was facing a foe under far different circumstances. The swirling, red-eyed cloud of his animate form seemed to swirl on on itself, becoming a tiny frozen tornado, one whose rapid spin flash-froze the air over everyone's head, instantly sending a torrent of snow down on hero and villain alike, but Frost concentrated again on Aquarius, pushing hard to ensnare the figure in his icy grasp. They do hate it when the rain freezes!

"That woman!" detonated Typhoon, drawing back from his daughter as the family closed in around him like so many ravening birds. "She has poisoned you against me, just as she poisoned our very bedchamber!" A stormcloud had formed overhead, great and terrible, the lightning in the massive thunderhead a glowing counterpoint to the arguments just a few meters above the carrier's flight deck. "In the name of God, father, I don't want to hear about your bloody bedchamber!" Nina shouted back, the two al-Darsahs like a symphony of familial rage to everyone listening! "-knew it was a mistake to send you to the den of the enemy-" "-this is not how a king acts! You are being a petty and spiteful-" "-dare speak that way to your father and king, you miserable-" As Midnight took off behind him, Edge fired - his burst seeming to come from the sky itself as a tremendous bolt of lightning. "Hey! Fathers shouldn't talk to kids that way!" At his last word, the bolt struck Typhoon, the sheer power of his blast nearly knocking the archvillain from the sky. "Now get out of here before more people get hurt!"

"I, uh, well," replied Quark, his eyes wide. "There's only so much I can tell you because of the need to preserve the timelines. But what I can do is jumpstart the tachyonic energies that have permeated your bodies, whether you jumped through a magical portal," he said with a nod to Sojourner, "or used a technological means of transportation," he added with a look at Tensile and some of the others. "so that you'll be snapped back towards your native timelines. Normally it's easier for us to return misplaced travelers, but with so many of you here, and all of you partially from another dimension, this is the easiest way to do it. Is there anything you need to do before you go?" he asked as he took out his 'railroad spike' and began fiddling with it.

"You stay here on the island with your mother, boy," said Richard before Will could respond to the conversation, pointing a finger his son's way. "No buts. Somebody's got to shoot the rest of the footage up here, and we need more than one super-person around if the Preservers start any trouble." All his memories of roof collapses and crushing pain were thirdhand, passed from Paulette to Paige to him, but he knew damn well Paige had no interest in going under any mountain, terrakinetic or not. "If we make friends with the dragon-god, I'll make sure I get his autograph." The trip to Dragon Island, as the camera crew dubbed it, was short enough that Richard could have gotten them there within seconds. But on the other hand, standing on the surface of a large granite plug over a long-extinct volcano's chamber would hardy have accomplished anything. So with the crew on hand to at least film their departure, the heroes joined Gaian Knight and Tiamat on the beach for the trip across the island chain - or rather, underneath it! As the others lined up, Richard stopped to kiss Paige and give her a quick, tight hug. "We'll be back real soon, honey. I'll keep in touch." He tapped the side of his head for emphasis.

Up in the sky, Voortrekker and the Red Mystic played a macabre game of catch . From a wrist-mounted launcher, Voortrekker fired a missile at his teammate, who in a matter of seconds caught the anti-tank weapon in a flaming red energy construct. Charging the missile with unholy crimson energy, she turned on her nearest enemy with lethal force and hurled a burning barrage that was at once unholy fire and screaming armor-piercing charges towards the Terminus-empowered teen. The bombardment struck Cho in the stomach and set her costume ablaze with a quickly-extinguished flame, knocking her back a step and scorching even her super-tough skin. "No more second chances!" called the Red Mystic, even as the excess of her bombardment went flying over Cho's head and right out of the park, slamming into the ground (and the civilians) on the other side amid screams and explosions! Will's heroic actions, without a doubt, saved Rain Spider's life. The dying woman, who'd been gagging up bubbly, foamy blood as he ran, suddenly gasped an unbroken breath and sat up, eyes wide behind her colored eyepieces as Will sat her down in front of the nearest ambulance. Right in front of a South African police officer who, with gun drawn, spun around and faced him down. Now, Will's dad had taught him all about cops and how you should never really trust them, but Will's own life had been pretty sheltered up to this point in a lot of ways. So even with his reflexes, he didn't realize the cop had fired, yelling, "It's bloody one of them!" before the round ricocheted off his visor, only his last minute reflexes saving his life. Except that now he was looking at the world through a crazy-quilt pane of broken plastic and cracks! He could see one thing though that was all too familiar - an electric blue radiance crackling between himself and Rain Spider - crackling, he realized, between himself and the costume the lady in question wore - which looked identical to Downtime's super-suit in 2014!

OK, that's a DC 31 Tou save for Cho, Rob, since the Combined Attack adds +2 to the Mystic's damage.
