Have an HP for that awesomely badass, but also very in-character taunt, Giz! But the Curator still has the near omnipotent power we've given cyberkinetics in Tronik vs the mundane programs... Sharl spends another HP to reroll that hit, and leaves the Curator bruisedx2 and dazed. Gal Vanic is up in Tronik

The Curator's head rocked back against Kimber's powerful blow, clearly hit hard. But then he focused on her directly. "You are-less than an-organic life but-your peers feel-emotions for you. One who-is even not-a peer. If I-destroy your corporeal-manifestation, will Daniel-Storm feel despair?" The Curator shook his head, three eyes still focused like lasers on the two heroes. Kimber had done some damage, enough to put a crack across those triple lenses, but he was still very much in the fight. "I will-learn all in-time. But yours-has ended." Suddenly, a militia hovercraft rose from behind the arcology and opened fire on the Curator, lasers peppering harmlessly off the armored shell that after all was no more real than the hovercraft itself. The Curator turned, and too late, Sharl divined his intentions. "NO!" he screamed, and was a second too late as the Curator gestured and the hovercraft simply disintegrated: first the machine, then the people inside, until nothing was left but air. "What have you done?! They were no threat to you!" "I am-a machine, fulfilling-my programming, as-were they," replied the Curator expressionlessly. "That I-have not deleted-them all is-a compassion defect-that I-will cure. I go-now to begin-the retaking of-this lost program." And he took off again into the air, wooshing back towards the sky overhead where his assimilation subroutines waited and... I understand now, thought Sharl, who knew better than anyone how well every moment in this place was recorded. Tronikians knew they lived under each other's watchful eyes, but not that every aspect of their lives was on a computer program somewhere. I know what I have to do. "Gal Vanic, listen," he said urgently, looking from her to the distantly hovering Curator. "Even if we beat him down here, he has the power to kill millions just like he did those soldiers, and I'm not willing to take the chance. No one else dies on my watch. We have to keep him up there, by his own programs, whatever happens. Are you with me?" And with that, he took off into the sky, rocketing after the Curator. "Hey, you! This is it!" He took the Curator by surprise and smashed him in the midsection, feeling that armor crack ever so slightly. "We're going to beat you and make sure you NEVER come back here! NEVER!"

"It is not a Curator robot," replied Harrier through the commlink with an urgent shake of his head. "He cannot access the sensors aboard the ship by remote, but he was able to tell that the ship was sending radio hails, then attempting to open the door by remote, before they began cutting their way through the hull with a laser weapon, it..." Harrier shook his head. "He has lost the signal. We must move," he called as he turned and began heading towards their rear. "All the Curator's ships we have seen have no will but his, as are his robots. If there is another vessel there, even if it is piloted by humanoid slaves or creatures from his Ringworld, it provides us the most efficacious way of returning home. I for one tire of roaming the corridors of his dead hearthworld."
-
"I preferred Aelita myself," replied Frost, who had joined the pair in the lounge by the simple expedient of passing through the gas-open vents. "Carter is very American story. Man goes to Mars, beds beautiful princess, and can think of nothing more to do with his time than stab Green barbarians in the mountains. Space should mean something more than that." He pulled up his parka hood, so that only his red eyes were easily visible in the gloom. "But I suppose that was before your time, Vicky. And that of so many others. A shame. But then it is those below who we suspect to have clung to the old ways far longer than anyone else, eh? If they are alive at all. Such are the ways of our people." He folded his gloved hands behind him and shot a glance Wisp's way, as if inquiring about something.

Startle vs 20: 21 Tou vs 32: 30 Eh, seems a little cheap to insist on my PC having first blood. So he's bruised! Go ahead and post, Giz.

Okay, there are no tentacles this round. Citizen takes an HP for the fiat of getting hit, and then blows one to not be killed. He is injured and bruised. He Bluffs the Curator to attack him as a standard action...34 And fails. Welp. Gal Vanic is up again (there are no tentacles this round)

The robots swarmed in again, pouring out of the corridors, hidden compartments in the walls, and even the floor and ceiling! With ceaseless and terrible purpose, they advanced on the heroes and opened fire! Silver-black beams of energy erupted from their outstretched palms, peppering the heroes and sending them scattering. Above it all, the Curator's voice continued its cold, dry narration, those three eyes never wavering. "Your resistance-to offers of-alliance is standard-for the members-of your caste. I find-it a puzzling-survival response." A volley of robot fire reached up into the sky and blasted at Glow, singing her right through her forcefield from the sheer weight of bombardment. "If threats-and promises of-alliance do not-function for your-species, how can-you survive the-fate of the-universe?" He made a sound that meant nothing to the humans in the room, and indeed it had been a while before Wraith had heard her birthname spoken aloud. "Have you-also adopted this-negative survival trait?" --- The Curator punched Citizen in the midsection, driving him down into the roof of the nearest sector. The cold steel rebounded as they impacted faster than the speed of sound, and Sharl had time to calculate that the mad cybernetic god could have shattered the mile-high building if he'd really put his mind to it. Gotta stop him, gotta stop him... He tasted blood in his mouth, and he knew that the Curator wasn't pulling his punches. "Your design-is inefficient," said the Curator with cold, dispassionate evaluation. "You have-the infinite capacity-for improvement and-instead you cling-to an organic-form in imitation-of your human-allies." He looked Sharl in the eye and said, "It was-you who attracted me-to this planet-again, Shar-l Tulink. The knowledge-that my creations-had left their-womb raised my-curiosity." Citizen felt cold guilt and fear strike him to his core, before he rallied with his "Because I'm not a machine, and I am not your creation!" spat Sharl, "and neither are they! Being a computer program is an accident of my birth, not who I am!" He pointed at the Curator, thinking of every heroic speech he'd ever seen. "You talk a good game, but you're just a machine some old aliens cooked up in a box. You're just carrying out programming they put in you ten million yearse ago. That's what _really_ makes you want to get us, isn't it? Because we took what we are, and we stayed _people_. We dreamed, we hoped, we cared! And we even have a superhero now. You don't want Tronik, you want ME! Let's finish this!" And with that, he rocketed up into the sky, breaking the sound barrier again as he went.

Don't forget to add the +5 from Inspire! =) That definitely hits. 17 Ouch, that's a towering hit. A little more than I want this early. Take an HP, Tsunami, and I'll make the monster just bruised and dazed for now.

The heroes walked the halls of the Curator's stronghold for hours, passing down long, long triangular corridors and even climbing up long, long access chutes with the metal cold against their hands, perhaps from the depths of space outside. The silent halls seemed to stretch out forever, as did the vast rooms full of stilled machinery they occasionally explored. The lights were still on and there was the occasional deep bass rumble of whatever machinery was keeping the power and life support systems running, but for the most part the vast complex was nothing but a tomb - a tomb for thousands of skeletal robot drones everywhere, some fallen over, others frozen in place, each looking as if they'd simply turned off as they went about whatever tasks made up the day-to-day life of the Curator's robotic servants. Some of the rooms they explored held artifacts from alien worlds, as silent as the rest of the complex, but none of them were technical experts, though Steve did go white along his scars and quickly walk past one particular structure that looked like an old-fashioned dentist's chair strapped to the middle of a geometry-defying forest of blades. For his part, it was tough for Steve not to feel on edge - a gigantic fortress owned by a cosmic threat stirred up bad memories indeed, and though this was far too bright, quiet, and clean-smelling for one of the fortresses of his youth, it was still a grim place indeed. He kept his armor on after they left the doomforge behind, walking a little behind the others. (Given his lack of stealth, it was the best place for him) He was about to suggest they turn around and begin making plans to bed down for the night by VINCE's ship when suddenly he cocked his head and said, "VINCE is messaging us. There is a vessel outside the hangar, attempting to cut through the doors."
-
"Oh come on, robots can't do that!" yelled Mark, waving in frustration at the giant monster before quickly turning back to the hero team. All right, you've been in ridiculous spaces before, you can do this...He knew Crow from the year they'd shared at Claremont, he'd seen Tsunami in action, and what's his face, the diamond guy...okay! "All right, people, move fast! Adamas, shore up the walls of the shelter, keep it from collapsing down any further! That bunker's deep, we don't need to be digging people out while we're trying to stop that thing!" Think think, Trevor would do this so much better... "Tsunami, you're with me, we'll try and slow that thing down! Bayview's already got a disaster going on, they don't need a twenty foot red gorilla in the middle of it!" And sure enough, the giant monster was beginning to look distinctly like a giant red anthropoidal gorilla, albeit with weirdly smooth features and no hair. "And Crow, you're a detective!" He met the boy's eyes straight on and said, "Find the bomb! Let's move!"

I have no problem with the Teleport, assuming nobody else does!

Just a note for clarification: what's over Tronik doesn't look like a ship, it looks more like a silver-black hemisphere that's enclosing the city in a bubble. Kandor expy'd, oh noo. She is definitely strong enough to rip the tentacles out. Dome: 27 Hah, well, it is injured! Tentacles: 16 Failed by 12, I will say that's bad enough that the curator doesn't bother maintaining them and sucks them back in.

Silence fell for a moment as the last of the robots fell to the ground, Koshiro scanning the room for signs of vulnerable technology. A moment later, though, the scenes of chaos faded on the central computer bank before being replaced by three circles - the glowing white eyes of the machine intelligence known as the Curator. "Attention members-of Young Freedom." The mechanical voice was cold and flat, a machine in a way their friend Sharl certainly wasn't. "I am-aware of your-attempts to interfere-with my recapture-of Tronik and experiments-on your planet. You will-be unsuccessful. Already your-elders have turned-against each other-and have abandoned-you to your-fate. But you-need not share-it. You are-young of your-species' and are-worth preservation." The eyes suddenly focused directly not on the women who'd done such damage to his machines, but rather on the one hero who hadn't acted at all. "I offer-a token. Koshiro McMillan. If you-prevent your allies-from disabling my-vessel, I will-give you the-dimensional coordinates of-your elder male-sibling."

Since the news about the January Vignette came in so late, they're not due until the 15th of February. Points will be awarded with the February point count.

Okay, I need initiative, assuming you guys want to respond to this. My money's on yes. And, hmm, a DC 25 Life Sciences, or DC 20 Galactic Lore check, if anyone can make that.

Ugh. Was I that insecure in high school? Mark pinched the bridge of his nose and remembered his mother's teachings about being polite, his father's about being a team player, and Midnight's telling him about focusing on a crisis. Still, they're here, they saw the bad stuff, and they're not running away. That's something, at least. The rest of it can wait until people aren't in danger. With a nod, he was on, and it was as if the conversation had never happened. "Right then, let's go." He led the way over to the gymnasium, and was about to reach the door when Adamas' communicator finally went off again. "I don't know who you are, son," said Archer's voice when Darren raised it to his ear, the gym teacher's voice full of righteous indignation and heroic valor, "but I've got some of the finest young men and women in the world backing my play. So if you and your goon squad up there want to come down here and start trouble, well, we're going to finish it." "Oh, jeez, not this fighting each other at the whims of the bad guys crap _again_," said Mark, scooping the phone right out of Darren's hand."Hey! Hey, it's all right, sir, it's Mark Lucas. I popped over from the League after we took down our robot." He winced at the words before going on, "These guys are legit human teenagers, trust me. They think they've detected a bomb down in the-" "Edge!" yelled Archer, "Get out of there! The real Darren Stelzer is down here with-oh my-!" There was a brief sound of a scuffle over the comm system, and suddenly the ground shook beneath their feet as something red, roaring, and toothy erupted its way right through the soil like a giant mole breaking the surface! Down below they could see the shelter, its roof torn off and rocks beginning to fall down inside on the students within, as the creature broke free and began bolting away down the grass.
-
I think we had this as just a DC 15 Reflex save + DC 20 Tou save, as per a Damage 5 (Extra: Area [burst]) attack with the plasma descriptor. Anything that'll put out a plasma fire will keep the robot from melting down to scrap.

Avenger Assembled replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in City Center
Though she looked briefly startled, the driver recovered with equanimity. "I'm not robbing the place," she said sharply, "I'm setting these aside so my employer will have access to them after his recovery, or his heirs will have them once his estate is processed. In case you haven't noticed, there are a lot of looters around, some of whom used to be on your team." She eyed Renard for a moment before going on, "What's up with that, anyway? They drop something in the water at Hero Central?" She was talking tough, but Eve could tell the driver was scared: whether of getting caught robbing a heavily-mobbed up employer or a crazy superhero, it was hard to tell. It was a day when everyone was on edge.- 54 replies

All right, I'll say that Disable Device check is enough for Koshiro to get an idea of what to blast - that central 'tower' seems to be connected to much of the ship's operations, particularly the control system for the tentacles below, while the subspace linkup stuff seems to be back behind them. I'll throw in a +2 Damage for his next attack, since you went with the Disable Device rather than combat this round.
