  1. 36 OK! Harrier is currently bound and helpless.
  2. Sharl frowned uncertainly for a moment as he walked around, taking in the scenery with a look that wasn't exactly skeptical but was certainly uncomfortable. This was all terra incognito for him, and magic at that, but his eagerness to embrace new things had driven him to take this leap with a girl he really liked. Can't let her seem I'm a little bit scared here...He reached down and took Eliza's hand without really thinking about it. "This is...new," he said a little nervously, squeezing her hand. "What am I looking at here exactly?" he asked her. He eyed the flock of 'birds' overhead, reminded of data loose in the wide datastreams of this world. "And is anything hostile? Because I dealt with that noble lady okay, but I don't think I can take all of them on..." he said, half-jokingly. "And what are those things on the buildings?"
  3. "...what?" Quickstep's eyes went wide. "What do you mean, expelled?" The girl had been a loyal Claremont soldier during their trip, doing her best to work as hard as the others, but the question seemed to stab at her core. "I was never expelled! I'm in the top of the sophomore class! I'm on the jayvee team! We train in the gym every Saturday night!" She looked like she was going to throw up, her face white and green at the same moment, her shock written with a teenager's lack of self-control deep on her face. "I...I never..." Walking by on his way to siphon gas, that being something they'd equipped themselves for, Steve blinked a moment before his eyes suddenly turned cold and hard. "Dorothy. What's the last date you remember? The last calendar date from Earth?" "I, uh...October 23," said the wide-eyed teenager. "I didn't...that wasn't the last day, but it was just a couple of days after that that I woke up in that other Freedom City." "The last date I recall was December 3rd," replied Steve, looking at the others with the beginnings of a storm behind his eyes. "And the rest of you, we all assumed we left the same day. What day was yours?"
  4. Yeah, now there's some lava on stage! El Heraldo is up.
  5. "I'm going to KICK YOUR ASS, Warp!" spat Quickstep a moment before she vanished into a swirling portal of energy and suddenly emerged just inches from Warp's back. "I'll show you what it means to go against the power of the TERMINUS," she added with a hiss before suddenly the air tore open and a jet of molten lava poured from a vortex over their heads! Quickstep dodged away using her powers, but a cascade fell near Warp, so close that the sheer flaming heat of the burning rock seared her already-bleeding skin. "Maybe I should go back and find that ax again and use it on your face! I'll chop you down to size! Ahahah!" She did a little dance on the stage and pointed to the fleeing crowd of civilians, adding with a shout, "And if any of you stand with this dirty Judas goat, you'll get more of the same! T-babies aren't going to stand for this kind of treatment anymore!"
  6. 8 AM January 15, 2013 On a quiet Tuesday morning in January, Darren, Morgan, and Giang all found themselves called into the Headmaster's office. Normally that wasn't a good thing when you were in high school, but the private message sent to them from the Headmaster had stressed the urgency, and secrecy, of the situation. Summers greeted them all by the door as they came in, shaking their hands with a firm grip and guiding them to seats in front of his desk. "Thank you all for coming," said the venerable old man gravely. "I've called you here to let you know that the school, and the city, are facing a serious crisis. Some of you are some of my most experienced students," he said with a nod to Morgan, "others some of my newest," he said with a similar look at Darren, "and others of you have come to the school with experience," he added with a look at Giang. "I'm sure all of you have heard the rumors of a new plot by the Terminus against Freedom City." What hero hadn't, who had any ear to the grapevine at all? "I'm calling you in to let you know...that there may be agents of that plot active right here in Claremont Academy. "
  7. Blod, have an HP. Quickstep teleports directly behind Warp and opens a gateway there. I'll say this catches Warp flat-footed. (have another HP in addition to another +1 for your surprise nemesis complication) Blast vs. DC 15: 15 Just made it! DC 27 Tou save. Man, uh, don't mean to pick on you here, FS! Go ahead and post the Tou save.
  8. Since everyone in this thread is a Ref, I trust you guys can handle yourselves OK. Dragonfly is up, and you guys are good to go, yo.
  9. All right, TK, think you're ready to take over at substitute GM during the combat here? The bikers will most likely divide their attention between blasting the murderous Bee-Keeper and his hero allies. Bikers 1, 2, and 6 are currently down.
  10. Addendum: BR, you can attempt your Sleight of Hand thing as a full-round action next round.
  11. Edge: Argonauts Harrier: Love the One You're With Merry HAXmas Citizen: War-Torn World (I know there are GM posts here, but just go ahead and count them as IC for the sake of speeding things up) Comrade Frost: You Can't Go Home Again Chimply Awful GMing: When It Rains It Snows Schoolhouse Vandals Put Ref PP towards Edge. Put all excess PP towards first Edge, then Citizen
  12. The guards didn't listen at first, instead opening up on the madman who had just murdered a prisoner and was evidently trying to make his escape. But the blasts from their armor couldn't penetrate Harrier's armored shell, his faceless head aimed at the ground as he concentrated on cutting a hole through the floor. When there was a pause in the blasts, he spoke with a voice gone sepulchral. "If you do not stand with me, you must stand against me. If I thought you had the power to impede me in my efforts, I would punish you for your alliance with the forces of evil." They did step back at that, letting the superheroes deal with what was obviously a super-crisis! For his part, the whistler didn't respond to Gabriel directly, instead watching the combat with fascination and narrowed eyes.
  13. The guards cannot penetrate Harrier's Impervious, oh my. Miss A is up.
  14. "You won't get me that easy, murderer! T-babies forever!" yelled Hammerhead in solidarity with the dodging, taunting Quickstep as he charged for Blue Jay, but the lumbering piscine T-baby was unable to catch the fleet-footed archer despite his sharp jagged teeth and reaching thick, muscular arms. He smelled of fish and blood, an unpleasant scent at any time but particularly not when Warp was caught in murderous mayhem and Blue Jay was just trying to get by and do her thing. He was yelling something, but the panicking, screaming crowd wasn't listening, and he was impossible to hear if you weren't on the stage. He was charging the bad guy without hesitating, but hadn't looked at his badly injured team: brave though he was, Hammerhead was obviously not the kind of leader you went to Claremont to become.
  15. Go ahead and roll initiative, Darius, but you don't have to enter combat when you show up. maybe the Interceptors will be able to talk Ellie down!
  16. hammerhead goes for Blue Jay! 17 And a miss! Blod is up.
  17. I am a sucker who actually checked to see if that was such a thing! 20 That's enough to sneak up, yeah.
  18. January 15, 2013 After 9 AM Fleur and Gaian Knight were conferring in Fleur's house over plans for the coming spring on Sanctuary when suddenly both their League alarms began beeping loudly; the urgent SOS call that bespoke total disaster. Hitting their mikes got a voice they didn't recognize, probably one of the League's security staff, yelling, "Emergency, emergency, it's Star Knight, she's gone crazy and she's-" The sound of a single devastating blast cut off the signal, which faded to static just as a malevolent feminine laugh came erupting through the speakers. There was no getting it back, not on any channel they used: Freedom Hall was under attack, and the signal from Earth-Prime was cut off! - Myrmidon was on his way to Freedom Hall when the roof blew off. An armored figure that certainly looked like Star Knight erupted out the hole in the top and fired a few more stray blasts into the now-roofless headquarters, the explosion shaking the ground beneath his boots as others echoed in the distance, alarms and screams breaking the bustle of a Freedom City morning. People were running from Freedom Hall in terror, tourists and uniformed Freedom League staffers alike, the uniformed agents at least doing their duty to help organize the evacuation. "Everybody get out!" one was yelling as debris from the ongoing explosions inside the building rained down on him. "Get out of this area and return to your homes, right now!"
  19. The arrows rose and fell like rain, except this was rain where people died. In the crowd in front, razor-tipped steel shafts impaled a half-dozen policemen, spectators, and citizens, instantly killing the two cops closest to the stage and a previously-cheering middle-aged man in a Croatian-American T-shirt. If Walsh had been like most politicians, even more of the cops would have died because the bombardment was far worse on stage. An arrow passed through Congressman Walsh's chest and pinned him against the podium without a sound as he looked with wide eyes on the blood staining his white lapels; another hit the lurking Mr. M and knocked him right off the stage with an shaft in the stomach, while sharp-bladed bolts tore at the arms and legs of Hammerhead, only India Rubber's flexible body saving him from serious harm. Only Quickstep was unhurt of the T-babies, shouting her defiance as arrows vanished into teleport gateways before her, going who knew where. "Hah-hah! You won't get me, murderer!" she called. A moment later, just as the crowd began to panic, something unexpected happened. Congressman Walsh's only son, David, had been in and out of the news for involvement in his father's political campaigns and the public relationship with a leading flute player in the Freedom City orchestra. Dave was by all accounts the sort of blandly handsome, spoiled albeit well-meaning scion of power that came a dime a dozen to young men born to Washington stock. The father's character had not been inherited. Other things had, though. "Dad, NO!" Suddenly a surge of great golden light erupted from the younger Walsh's body, and the suited man rose up out of the crowd like an avenging angel! He didn't target any of the combatants, though, instead swooping down on his father at the podium. He gestured wildly and summoned a glowing pair of giant yellow hands that scooped up Walsh and the podium alike and the assembly of father, son, and debris began rising quickly in the air and towards the newly constructed St. Mark's hospital just down the street. Almost lost in the crowd came the startled exclamation of a security officer holding a radiation meter off in the corner, "Why, he's a T-baby!" It might have been a big story on any other day.
  20. As the guards closed in, shouting an order to halt, Harrier's armor erupted from his body and encased him in cold grey Terminus steel. "Obstacles in my way. You should leave the prison now." He whipped his bloody pike around and fired a shot at the security table, incinerating several alarm panels and producing a shriek of feedback from the speakers. "EMERGENCY ALARM ACTIVATED - ALL CELLS IN PSYCH WARD OPENING." Miss A knew well enough what that was, the emergency systems installed years ago to make sure that prisoners didn't die in their cells in the event of a prison-wide fire or other natural disaster. Slowly the glass shields slid down and away from the bloodied cell that had once held the Steelgrave clone and the well-appointed cell-turned-dorm room that held the white-faced Singularity, and across the way the impervium began to drop first, revealing the long-occluded face of the Whistler. He proved to be a muscular man with long black hair turned grey and a goatee and mustache to match, his prison fatigues rolled up to reveal powerful arms covered in tattoos. He looked around in shock and calculation at first, then his eyes widened at the sight of a bloody-piked Omegadrone sharing the corridor with him. As the glass began to drop, Harrier's jet roared to life and he flew right through the group of guards, coming to a landing inside the open elevator car. He didn't press any buttons, but instead raised his pike and began to carve his way through the tough impervium alloy of the car's floor...
