  1. Nightmare Doom: Free Action: speechifies Standard Action: stunts Neither she, nor the other Hounds, will take any more actions until they get a response from the heroes. Let me know if there's anything you can't stand. The DC there is still 20, of course! Not going to hit you guys with a save-or-die effect, that's just the easiest way to represent the effect she has active.
  2. Blood Diamond fell bonelessly to the ground, gems falling from her body in a rain of shimmering blood. Nightmare Doom wrinkled her nose in irritation as yet another comrade fell, then cocked her head as if in silent communion with her boss and the others of the Hounds before she spoke. "Very well, Midnight," she said consideringly after a time, "your proposal is accepted. The Hounds will withdraw, and allow you to be killed by the Madrigal Martinet as you request. However, since your party has attacked even neutrals like Spiegel, a show of good faith is required from all your allies." She began chanting, and portals began opening in the sky, first one, then more; not disgorging Omegadrones as Edge (who had casually walked over to pick up Spiegel's fallen microphone, if the shining gold badge at the reptile man's midsection was that) had first feared, but instead showing scenes at once familiar and terribly alien. "If you fail, each will be given over to their own dooms." Over Wander's head, a scene of grim devastation appeared; a Freedom City of decaying ruins and shattered buildings, shambling humanoids crawling among each. "For Erin White, exile on a world where the immortal Ace Danger spread a walking death that could never be broken." Over Edge's, an image of a face that reminded him of Hex's, but somehow even more twisted, black wings of energy rising up behind 'his' snarling visage. "For Mark Lucas, our own Shadowhawk has long wanted a playmate. Perhaps he'll even let you keep your face afterwards, he does love his own so well." She smirked, and went on, more and more portals opening up. Seen from space, a world of red shapeless forms, twisting in a vast obscene ocean, and metal that ran among it like ice on a stove, "For Indira Singh; a world where the Grue Arcane haven't had an uncorrupted Kinigosi in a very long time. They're hungry. For Etain Maher," she said as an all-too-familiar realm sprang to life near Etain, its sky cast a fierce autumn red, "we have an Avalon of our own, you know, and I think you will find their sport a delightful change of pace." The same portal opened near Eve, as Nightmare Doom went on, "Especially when Eve Martel plays. They know such fine games." Near Corbin, a palpable image: Superior in gold armor, a black-haired woman he knew as Sa-Ur dressed to match, and beside them his own Quo-Dis in red, sitting on a triple throne cast from something black and ancient, "For Corbin Hughes, a world where the daughter of the Emperor of Man will be very...displeased to learn that there is a mortal who has dared touch her sister-in-dimension." And finally, over Midnight's head, a horror in metal, glass, and other things; visible through that last portal a great sphere against a burning sky, big enough to accommodate dozens at once. "And for Midnight, no grand death, no valorous torture, no last breaking. The singular man will become just another Omegadrone." She looked from her boss to the others again, and said, "This, and no less, will be the price of cheating by Young Freedom in this contest. You may fight us, you may even fight me if you find that...prudent, but you may not aid Midnight. You may not attack the Madrigal. Some of you may live if you lose fairly; you may even live well. You might live if you cheat. I wouldn't recommend it. What is your answer, Young Freedom?"
  3. "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED? YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED?!?" His program embedded in Corbin's ring, cut off from the familiar worldwide network connections around Freedom City, the stark terror of wondering what had happened came surging up through Sharl at the news that the maniacal supervillain had nothing to do with everyone's transformation. The tremendous bulk of his massively projected form, held together only through the sheer force of will that he had once used to keep himself together through utter chaos and madness, seemed to give special weight to his words as he boomed, "THEY'RE GOING TO LOCK YOU IN THE CELL WITH MADAME ZERO! GET BACK HERE, YOU VACUMN-TUBE-USING GROUNDBOUND SCREWHEAD!" He rocketed after Fathom and landed a devastating blow across the other man's back, cursing as his hand burned. Of course! I'm not in Tronik, now am I? Stupid, stupid, stupid.
  4. Concentration check for Flight: 19 Concentration check for Growth: 17 Citizen: Free Action: hates on Factor Four in general and Professor Fathom in particular Move Action: catches up with Fathom [flying 2500 ft] Standard Action: Citizen Power Attacks for +3 vs. Fire!Fathom's defense of 20 17 That's to be expected; Sharl spends an HP to cancel the fatigue for the surge he is about to make and hits him again. 27 That's more like it! That'll be a DC 30 Tou save for Fire!Fathom. If that happens to inflict Knockback (hey, it _might_, you never know), Citizen will be aiming to punch him out over water. Unfortunately! Citizen had to drop his Insub to hit him. I believe he currently has Pyre's Aura 8 damage? 22 Citizen is injured! Unfortunate.
  5. That's fine, I'm not going to roll that. Go ahead and knock her out.
  6. Your character has high enough INT not to fly in and attack all the bad guys at once at this point in the fight.
  7. That hits, and she can't beat that grapple check, so go ahead and post!
  8. Have an HP for that one, Sorus, as that was low-class. Hellstorm: Free Action: puts her power reserve up to Flight 10 Move Action: flies around and around and around like a chucklehead Standard Action: Moving feint vs Midnight...24 Hah-hah, well, so much for that... Changeling is up.
  9. "Oh, it's you,, halfpint," sneered Hellstorm at Sage's approach. "If you don't mind, I'm a little busy working right now, so you'll just have to wait your turn while I fight someone important. Maybe you'd be better off running away like you did the last time you fought the Terminus." She grinned wickedly, and ostentatiously turned her back on Sage to take to the air, whipping around the battlefield with blinding speed, faster and faster as she blurred into a near-streak of blue in the sky, all the while just a few hundred feet in the air. Tantalizingly close now that Cobalt Templar had gotten Sage within striking range, if there was just some way to close that gap.
  10. "...yes, I know Daisy," said Avenger after a moment, sounding edgier than he usually was when the subject of Erin's classmates came up. She could still hear Jack Jr. in the background, roaring and scampering around, maybe on the ceiling this time. The little guy had always liked dinosaurs too. "I was worried she'd cause problems on her own. What has she been telling you?" She heard Phantom saying something, and Avenger's reply, "It's nothing, dear, it's just Erin calling about a work problem. I'm helping her." "Look, uh, if she's causing problems, I can be there to deal with it, but it'll take me a minute. She's not allowed in this house while Taylor is around. Or when she's not!" he added. "But especially not when Taylor's around." - "How did this happen to you?" Mark was asking Daisy, giving the vampire version of his former enemy a searching look. Daisy looked human enough now, albeit pale and beautiful, but luckily had force of personality enough to resist _that_ particular pretty face. "Who did this to you?" "Oh, well, I did it to myself, or close to it," said Daisy with the ghost of a wink. "Back in New York, I met this really rich, really hot guy who said he could set me up for life." She rubbed the side of her pale neck and added reflectively, "Anyway, _that_ certainly wasn't what I wanted out of a relationship, so we had a fight and I came back here." "Mark, I don't understand," said Nina, giving her boyfriend an elbow to the ribs. "Why aren't we killing this leech? And how do you all know her so well?" "Because vampires are people too!" said Mark automatically, coming to the defense of the underdog even when there wasn't much of the underdog about the still very gorgeous Daisy Gibbons, "and because Daisy...we went to high school together." "You went to high school with a VAMPIRE?" Nina exclaimed, hands on her lovely hips as she stared at Mark in shock. "She wasn't a vampire then!"
  11. "Caradoc" hovered in mid-air, barely able to see the distant silver shape of the aircraft carrier on the horizon. It occurred to him, in a strategic way, that he really should talk to Miss Americana about having a radio implant made one of these days. I have none by nature; what use would an Omegadrone have for one? And in the time since, he'd always flown with people he could talk to, rather than with distant forces on the ground to worry about. He had something of a moral dilemma, given that he was trespassing in the waters of this nation's military, but after a moment's debate his determination to get to the bottom of the Terminus mystery around here pushed him through. Stowing his 'sword' and raising his hands, 'Caradoc' flew low and slow towards the carrier, doing his best to make it clear he had no hostile intentions.
  12. Looks good! She can't beat that on a nat-20, and it does hit. Do you want the gun? Nope? That's cool. Have an HP for being a hella badass, Midnight.
  13. Bleah, how did this fall out of my brainpan? I blame the previous administration. Go ahead and give me a Knowledge (Technology) check, Doc. (You actually have enough Skill Mastery to get the basics of what I'll say without a roll, but the better you do, the more you'll learn)
  14. "Hey, you guys, it's okay," said Daisy soothingly, stepping away from the semi-conscious man as she tried to lick the blood off her impressive fangs. Up close, those were clearly vampire teeth, not the longer, curved serpent venom-deliverers seen in the others. The Socotran slipped to the floor, a dopey smile on his face. "He's fine, and I'm fine, and we're all okay, right? I asked him if he wanted to party and he said yes, and you'd better believe he had a good time." She winked at Mark, then at the others, the Socotran royal family looking on goggle-eyed, all charm and good cheer having recovered from her momentary lapse. "Look, I'll just be going, and you guys can get back to your snake monster thing. Serpent People, who knew?" "Stop that." said Edge accusingly, giving Daisy a firm glare that made her sigh. He thought of the Daisy Gibbons of Anti-Earth, safely through therapy and resettled far away from Freedom City. This wasn't that Daisy, though; he recognized the conscious attempts to influence everyone by sheer force of superpowered presence. "That has never worked on me and you know it, not even when you were human." At his words, she seemed to deflate a little, that so-persuasive mien fading slightly. "Look, fine, I know I can't take all of you at once. I couldn't before, and even...upgraded," she added, "I probably can't now. So what's it gonna be? Are we all walking out of here?"
  15. Steve felt the familiar prickle that bespoke Terminus energy while sitting in the break room at HAX, drinking coffee and thinking about what to buy Gina for her birthday. When was her birthday, anyway? Unfortunately, the brush of Terminus power took priority over both work and pleasure. Always concerned by Terminus radiation, particularly since none of the super-scientists he knew had anything on the roster for today, Harrier decided to take action. He was on break anyway, so he punched out, writing the laconic "Situation" on his time card that bespoke a super-emergency, and took the elevator to the roof before changing into his armor. After a moment's thought, he activated his "Caradoc" disguise as well, taking to the air looking like a shining storybook knight in silvery armor with a dragonshead jetpack rather than a spike-and-horror Omegadrone as he rocketed towards the source of the disturbance. If he was on his way to meet someone new, looking his best seemed the most prudent option. If they were innocently toying with entropic power, he could investigate them and learn more: if something sinister was going on with the power of the dimension of his birth, he could show them a hint of why it was better not to tamper with forces beyond the ken of mortal men. And if an invasion was taking place, he could destroy them all. It was a sunny day as he rocketed over the beach and out to the ocean, the sort that he'd have enjoyed under other circumstances
  16. That hits He's unconscious; go ahead and post IC.
  17. Victory's cybernetically enhanced systems let him see the fliers coming long before they got there: three men in identical black uniforms that told him little about their origin, their faces covered by heavy black masks with black eyepieces that looked a little like mantis eyes. One went for him, fast, rocketing at him at a hypersonic velocity much faster than any jet could have traveled, before hurling a bolt of sizzling golden energy at him that sparked harmlessly against his armor. It was a hard hit, though; these three were certainly much faster than anything else at Lonely Point, and tougher too. Except, of course, for Victory himself. They weren't as fast as him, or as tough, but then Victory was pretty fast and tough indeed.
  18. I should clarify, of course, that in addition to being a robot, "Black Flame" is a fire controller rather than electrical one as in the sample. No big deal, just a change in descriptors. Electra reminded me about Miss A's readied action, so go ahead and roll your to-hit + grapple before initiative starts, E. Lacking Uncanny Dodge, 'Black Flame' is actually flat-footed here.
  19. Initiative time! Black Flame misses Keith by a mile Black Flame has these stats, albeit with Immunity 30 (Fortitude Saves) and no Con. (with Protection doing what the Force Field doesn't) She's not the big problem here; she's not too challenging in combat. Black Flame goes on 10, Citizen goes on 14
  20. Citizen backed Miss Americana's move automatically, shooting a look Glow's way as she put herself between some of the high school kids and harm's way. Try and get them out! he mouthed at Kristen, not for the first time wishing that more humans had cybernetic implants that he could contact by radio, or even better that he was in a place where he could manipulate the basic nature of reality and just talk to people silently when he needed to. _While I'm at it, why don't I wish for a sector pyrosuppressor, and maybe Earth's Moon..._ That got 'Black Flame's' attention off the civilians, at least, even if it did mean focusing the pyrokinetic directly on Wail. "I am Danson," she spat, in her anger seeming to lose the blaxploitation persona for a moment as she lasered in on Keith. "You! You're part of the reason this happened in the first place!" Fire erupted from her hands and eyes as she turned away from Grayson and focused entirely on Wail. "If you want to get fried first, sucka, that's your call!" And with that, she gathered her hands together and hurled a blast of searing red flame directly at Keith LaMarr.
  21. Glow is also pretty sure this lady doesn't normally talk like the people from her Super-American History books.
  22. "And more," said Nepthys scornfully, looking down at the unconscious figure of Ahmed, the bound and battered Serpent Person who had started all the trouble. It was still hard to believe, looking at the lovely would-be princess, that she was the same reptilian species as the fallen criminal. "I am from a powerful line, and promised to my egg-brother so that we might foster a new generation of hatchlings. When he learned I preferred another, and from...outside our kind as well, it drove him to madness. Those he poisoned will be fine in a few hours," she added concernedly to the others, "you need not burn the serpent's venom from their bodies. It is a common trick used on prisoners from the surface; they are still your people." "I can't speak for Socotra," said Mark seriously, "or what Typhoon will do, but here in Freedom City, everyone's people. They're probably right about not going home just yet. And if you guys need a place to crash that doesn't have all that surveillance up and around, you're welcome to my apartment, or one of our many nice hotels..." He shot a glance at Nina, who was still looking pretty uncomfortable about all this, and made a little gesture with his hand. C'mon... "No, no, Mark's apartment is very nice but it's not secure enough, and you have no reason to stay in one of this city's cheap hotels." Nina actually smiled, and reached over to put her hand on Mark's. "Why don't you stay at my apartment?" Nina had had to bend a few rules to have an off-campus apartment, but with enough money to pay for dorms _and_ apartment, the al-Darsahs had had a lot of resources. "And then I can stay at Mark's place for a while, and we can talk. Won't that be fun?" She gave him a hard smile, and Mark smiled back. "In any event," Mark suggested to the others, "the best thing we can do is go deal with the crowd outside, and help make sure the poisoning victims are getting treated. That'll give you guys time to figure out what you're going to say to the family-" Edge had walked over to the double-doors near Morakot and Nepthys and pulled them open, planning to trust Trevor and Erin to deal with the Serpent prisoner. Standing in the doorway instead, he found Daisy Gibbons and a pale-face Socotran security guard. The Claremont dropout's face was buried in the man's neck, and as she raised her face, she hissed and bared her bloody fangs automatically, hissing as the semi-conscious man she'd backed against the wall collapsed. When she saw who it was, though, the former student turned vampire gasped in surprise. "Ah, damnit! He said he locked that!"
  23. Miss A: That's a robot (and a pretty good one, too; the same quality Gina associates with herself, the Foundry, or other experts), and the jive-talking is straight out of a 70s blaxploitation movie. That's enough History to know everything Wail knows out of the spoiler tags. Citizen: knows the Bluff, sure enough, and gets the Tech from Miss A. Wail:
