Wander couldn't see much signs of heavy technology in here; just scenes of carnage and struggle, bloodstains and organic leavings on the walls and floor, with the heavy scorchmarks of Omegadrone fire. She could catch glimpses of the unique black-steel architecture of the Terminus past the swinging doors the Omegadrones had been fighting from; evidently they'd colonized the entire stadium interior (probably taking advantage of the open space) the way they had her own Freedom City. His jetpack roaring behind him, Harrier didn't hesitate to fly into melee against the other heavy assault drone, smashing his pike against the face that might once have been his own again and again until steel cracked and the drone staggered backwards, knocked asunder as its internal systems fought to keep it conscious. "That one's not dead!" he called to Wander as she looked away from the one she was fighting; for all that they'd been terrible marksmen, both these drones were made of far sterner stuff than the typical Omegadrones Wander was probably used to fighting. As if summoned, a squad of those same drones came pouring out of the door left open by their superiors, attacking the two heroes with devastating intent. Though their bolts glanced harmlessly off the heavily-armored Harrier, one struck home on Wander as the drones swarmed around them both like demonic cyber-hornets. -
Harrier all-out power attacks, as is his style vs. opponents like this, vs Boss A. 14 Well, that's pretty terrible. (HP [fighting Omegadrones]) 26 A crit! So that'll be a DC 37 Tou save 25 staggered and dazed Familiar! (bad edit here; six drones flew in and made their attack; they couldn't hurt Harrier but one did hit Wander)
-
He can't beat a 27, so: 16 Take that serious! He's staggered and dazed; still in the fight, but not getting up any time soon.

"I am here on behalf of my people, to celebrate the birthday of this honored warrior, tiny one," said Max with a sociable smile: 'tiny one' was evidently not an insult. His focus shifted quickly at the sight of a nigh-familiar face. "Redbird!" Max took Redbird's measure for a moment, sussing out her bond with her new host, before sketching a quick formal bow. "I mourn your loss, and celebrate what you have gained." And then he grinned, a look much more comfortable on his broad face than soberity, and clapped her in a warrior's embrace. "You're looking well! I'm so glad to see you here among these people. Everyone back home is really proud of..." At Corbin's question, Max assumed a look of surprise too total to be false, unless he was the greatest liar of the multiverse. "You mean, you don't know?" he asked, staring again at all the others as he took in what they'd said. "You are...all the biggest heroes evar! back on the Silver Tree. Cobalt Templar the Swordsman, Sage the Fleet-Footed, Wander the Brave, Midnight the Marksman, and Edge the Mighty! And the ones who died of it; Red Falcon the Courageous and Richard Lucas the Lost." he went on with nods towards Red Bird and Edge. More happily, he added, "The Dethroners of Omega, together again!" He grinned, and clapped everyone on the back he could. "When Freedom Bird sent me as ambassador to Earth, I knew I had to see you guys as soon as I could, and when I heard about the birthday party, well! I had to come here in style!" "Oh, man, a Wyldride!" Mark had simply popped up standing athwart the bike with fascination. "You know how fast these things go?" he asked the others. "Well, it's really fast!" he went on, looking quite pleased with himself. Stepping back down, he bowed to Max, matching the formal Furion style perfectly, before adding to the towering giant, "My mother sends her thanks for Freedom Bird's good wishes. I know visiting Earth isn't easy for your people...but enough of that, let's enjoy the party!" He clapped Max Muscle on the back, luckily stepped forward fast enough that Max didn't accidentally knock him over in reply, and evidently seemed to take the Furion at his word.

"I can take you there right now," Mark offered, having learned from previous experience that people didn't like it when you catapulted them across the Atlantic Ocean. He'd memorized the coordinates of the dig site just for this sort of occasion. "But we could do it outside, if you need time to prepare?" he offered. He had at most an intellectual understanding of that, but he supposed most magic people needed to bring their gear along. In his experience, it was pretty easy to just reach out and do stuff with magic, but he didn't do the complicated things like Nick did.

"el fuego," the little girl finally whispered, so quiet that only someone as observant as Jill would have heard it. "el fuego monstruo..." By mutual agreement, it was a group of mostly kids who were going through the first time: ten children under ten and as many of their parents as could fit inside the dimensional teleporter's circle of effect, bodies packed in tight and clinging to each other, each adult carrying two kids to fit as many as possible for each teleport. Tress and Kurt, now assisting Mara, manned their stations by the machine and waited for the signal. After all, there was very little they could do without her! When the perimeter alert went off, again, louder, people looked scared as the red lights on the walls flashed silently, on and off, just once, but the hope the heroes had given them was enough to keep away panic, especially with Samson walking among them like a conductor. "Form a line, form a line, right this way..." Leaning close to Jill and Dragonfly, he murmured "Not an attempt at the complex itself yet. Sometimes they come over looking to see if anything they can eat survived." -

Luckily, one of them was on her side. His engines roaring with almighty speed, Harrier plunged through an open side window in the stadium gatehouse just seconds after Wander had destroyed the drones at the door. He was still wearing Caradoc's gleaming armor, the better to confuse the drones inside and not terrify any human beings they might happen to encounter (should they be so lucky), but there was nothing of the shining knight in him as he plunged his screaming blade through the neck of the last standing drone, its head flying off in a perfect arc as its internal oils splattered him. "DIE FOR OMEGA!" he yelled, his voice flat and tinny through the armor, a sharp contrast to his usual silent mien in combat. Seconds later, the stairwell doors kicked open and two big, bulky drones stepped out: with their spiked bodies and long, wickedly bladed pikes, these were no minor drones like Harrier and Wander had just destroyed: there were heavy assault drones, superhero hunters like those that had killed so many on so many worlds. One fired a blast of inky black entropy at Wander, scorching past the nimble heroine without hitting her, while Harrier hefted his pike and slashed aside the blast from the other in the air, cutting Terminus energy in two with its own like. "No. There is no escape." -
Harrier's going to surge, taking an accelerated move (so he can match Wander's pace) and then attack. He'll power attack for +5 vs. the last standing drone, taking 10 since it's a minion. It can't make a DC 32 Toughness save on a natural 20, so it's dead. Boss Omegadrone B enters through the rear of the gatehouse and fires its pike at Wander. 11 And that's a miss! Boss Omegadrone A does the same, its squad coming up behind it. This one will blast Harrier 10 And also miss. Well. The still-standing squad readies an action to blast the first person who comes through the door! 26, 25, 22, 19, 17, 16 Wander is up.
-
They're minions, so keep that HP and just take 10! 1. 19 That one's down 2. 12 Down 3. 15 Down 4. 16 Down 5. 10 Down 6. 26 Up

"You take them from ground level first, I'll come in from the air," suggested Harrier, who had no hesitation about sending in one of the slayers of Omega to fight enemies of this caliber: the only reason he hadn't let her go alone was that he'd never let even the most powerful ally fight the Terminus unaided. "A momentary confusion will be enough here. Two or three squads of lesser drones, the same number of heavy units. Two dozen technicians, none of whom will be particularly good fighters. Ready?" They counted down until they were ready, and then Harrier rocketed into the air on a roaring column of fire, ready to descend after Wander had broken through the perimeter. The Bryce Canyon complex looked like it had once been something like a community college complex, before the skies had burned red and the world itself a moment later. There were only a few skeletons amid the burnt-out buildings, and none anywhere near what might once have been the local football stadium: there were Omegadrones there, front and back, and as she made her approach Erin could hear the sound of working machinery inside. -

"...all right," Tress had said after a moment's hesitation down below, studying her new prospective boss with eyes gone huge for a moment before nodding again, as if answering an argument inside her own mind. "All right, I'll do it. It'd be a shame to come all this way and not see the world that can produce women like you. And machines like this." She smiled for a moment at the machine, so briefly, before pulling her goggles back over her face and getting back to work. Up top, while Mara and Jill talked, she went about gathering up the small bag of her things before joining the others to help organize the evacuation. Samson briefly embraced both women, a look of profound, utter relief on his face, before he went about calling the others to attention to announce the news of their salvation. As he talked, walking from person to person in the neat rows Steve and Erin had made, telling them how to use the teleporter, Jill and Dragonfly could see the tears welling in the eyes of those whose salvation they'd won that day. There was another whup from above as people took their places for the first trip, in volume no louder than the occasional booms that had come from far above the whole time they were there, but it seemed to get one person's attention in particular. The little girl took Jill by the sleeve and pulled insistently to get her attention, looking up and pointing straight up at the ceiling and through it with her bare finger, again and again. -

Cobalt Templar's blows savaged the Tronik-born villain, smashing Rogue against the same bulkhead where Citizen had destroyed Armorcat's avatar, her ribs cracking and sunglasses breaking as he pounded her with his blade again and again, screaming in fury as she was stolen away from her last petty triumph. Snarling with fury, she batted away a fourth stroke, then went straight for Cobalt Templar! Before she could reach him, though, Citizen threw himself between them. Acting on sheer instinct, he pointed at her with his fingers and fired a blast of energy to match hers: not the searing red she'd used to incinerate Sage, but a bizarrely all-American red, white, and blue like shining patriotic lasers instantly recognizable as Miss Americana's lasers. "No!" Citizen yelled; the beams driving Rogue back without actually hurting her. Not that Sharl wasn't trying..."No one else gets hurt for standing up to you today! No more!" Rogue stared at the two boys for a moment, eyes wild, before suddenly the deck began to vibrate beneath their feet, a low, eerie warping that made the two Tronikians look at each other in alarm before suddenly Rogue took off, the air cracking around her as she broke the sound barrier in an instant. Citizen straightened his shades and grabbed Cobalt Templar before he could pursue. "No, she's mine! Find a way to cut through that firewall and get the bomb out of here! Papercut and Wraith are fighting one of her minions alone, and unlike them, he's not pulling his punches!" --- Actually, down below, Xevon did seem to be pulling his punches, throwing wild, slow blows that missed both Wraith and Papercut by a mile. Muttering in frustration, the metal-bodied monster instead turned his attention towards the trapped civilians, advancing on one man with glacial intent. "Fiiiiixxxxx tiiiimmmmeee oooorrrr III smmmmmmaassssshhhh!" he called like someone talking through a tape set to its slowest speed, reaching out slowly and terribly towards a frantically (albeit slowly) thrashing man almost within his reach.- 176 replies

As if in answer, a BOOM shook the air like a thunderclap without no lightning and as if from nothing a man roared out the air over the patio riding a mighty black motorcycle instantly recognizable as a Wyldride of the Overriders, the carefree outlaw bikers of the Terminus. The gigantic young man behind the wheel looked a little too soft to be a biker, though: with his short brown hair, blue eyes, and boyish face, it was obvious he wasn't much older than any of the young heroes assembled. He leapt off the bike, which hovered in the air as his feet touched ground with a solid boom. Standing well over six feet tall and looming at over three hundred pounds of muscle, he was resplendent in a blue harness across his torso, matching blue leggings, and a long gold cape. "Greetings, everyone!" he boomed, a look of joy on his face. Turning questioningly, one by one, he took in a group that consisted of Mark, Erin, Trevor, Eve, and Corbin. "I am...this is the birthday party of Sage the Fleet-Footed, yes? I'm sorry, I thought I had the right directions written down, but this is my first time on the bike..." Reaching into his harness, he took out a flat white square, about as big as a paperback book, that projected an image of the Earth. "I could have sworn this was right..." He seemed much less the Furion and much more the young, all-too-human man now.

"A troop transport," agreed Harrier, still invisible in the dirt beside her. Wander could hear him, his voice tinny and echoy as usual when his armor was up. "Fully loaded from the engine noise. Most likely with the drones transformed in this facility. A small contingency force will be left, as well as whatever technicians remain to tend the pits themselves." This close, the building was mercifully quiet: none of the unending lamentations or horse screams of agony Harrier associated with doomforges and those who watched them, just mechanical noises and the sound of thrumming machinery. But who was to say what noises these nanoforges made? At Wander's words, Harrier hesitated only a fraction before saying, "They can see in darkness, and communicate via radio. They can be fooled, but not frightened or persuaded. But I...I cannot pass for a healthy drone, Wander," he went on, sounding a trifle nervous for the first time. "I can intercept IFF signals, but I cannot return them. I would be recognized as damaged and severed from the Voice, a target for every drone in the facility...." An idea was evidently coming to him. "I can enter through that front gate, you can approach from the rear, and we can meet in the middle." At the suicidal risk he was taking, Harrier went on, "I am a heavy assault Omegadrone, Wander. I have engaged in combat against countless lesser drones and multiple superhuman opponents simultaneously and been victorious. I will be able to survive combat against a rearguard doomforge force long enough for you to complete the mission." -

Wander and Harrier raced out of the burnt-out shell of a building that had once been the Earth Corps headquarters and straight into a scene from the depths of Hell itself. What had once been a beautiful state park had been blasted down to the bone by a conflagration that still smoldered here and there amid wrecked buildings and murdered forests. The blacked remains of dead trees, the burnt-bare skeletons of dead animals and dead people reached up towards the red and bleeding sky overhead like the fingers of the world reaching up to pull down death. Bones and ash were piled atop each other in heaps that must have been shelters, charnel remains of the world. If it was like this in a sparsely populated national park, albeit one that had been a destination for refugees in the last terrible hours overhead, what must it have been like, what must it still be like, in the larger cities? It didn't bear thinking about. Besides, Harrier had seen worse. He went invisible as they ran, fiddling with his pike after warning her first, the better to cut down her profile to any staring eyes. Though he knew that there were plenty of beings in the Terminus who could see an Omegadrone. They kept to the dead forest to avoid any eyes in the sky that might be monitoring the roads, which had now cooled down after being melted to liquid tar earlier in the last days, the seared-black trees forcing Wander to slow down a fraction in their run, just enough that they didn't plow into something solid as they went. Harrier kept a careful track of their route as they went, and finally as they raced down a dead streambed towards what had once been a waterfall, he said in his tinny armored voice, "Here. We should-" Suddenly, just as he spoke, his arms tightened around her. "DOWN!" And no sooner had he done so than Wander heard a great choking roar from the valley beneath them, and saw, rising on a massive column of fire up from the valley floor, obviously having just lifted off from the remains of the Bryce Canyon complex, a great black skull-headed vessel as large as a commercial airliner, its VTOL jets burning with the same black and red fire that marked Harrier's jetpack: a Terminus vessel! -
Edge studied the ghost for a moment, taken by surprise at the sight of the unquiet dead before him, but didn't look too disturbed at the specter of a spectre before him. "Thank you, Millie," he said with a little wink at the ghost. "It's good!" he made sure to add after taking a sip, not wanting to seem rude. Focusing on Nick after that, he went on, the driving force of the young man's personality coming through as he spoke. "I don't know how familiar you are with African geography, so I'll provide some background here. São Tomé and PrÃncipe is an island state off the coast of southern Africa. They're a former Portuguese colony, they got their independence back in the 1970s. They're better off than some of their neighbors; they've had coups but no real civil wars, and their dictators have been more interested in being in charge than persecuting their citizens. They're not rich, but they're not poor, either, and they have a lot of hopes now that they're finding oiil. They've had elections for about twenty years now, and the opposition party has started actually winning them in the last ten years. They've had some coup attempts over the oil money, but the government's always held up." He put his hand on the table before him, still drinking the lemonade, and said, "A few weeks ago, an oil prospecting team near the Great Dog Peak, the biggest volcano on Sao Tome, stumbled across something that could tear the country apart. A mass grave, holding what the local doctor counted as at least fifty human beings; men, women, children. No one knows how they got there, and no one knows who they were. The local opposition party is accusing the Portuguese of carrying out a secret massacre before they pulled out, the Portuguese are denying it...if something doesn't happen soon, and if the populace gets sufficiently outraged, the government may have to 'detain' the Portuguese still living on the islands for their own safety. UNISON thinks that'll cause a domino effect; European investors will pull out, the oil money will dry up...and the country will tear itself apart. We need someone who can make the bones speak and tell us who they were and how they died." For all that he was only nineteen, the sheer power of Edge's personality came through as he spoke, and Nick could sense the urgency in his words, the threat to the peace and stability of a country that had just barely managed to avoid the many crises of the continent. "We need your help."

With the hulking monster actually defeated, one of the guards, the commander who Gal Vanic had seen talking to Cobalt Templar earlier, actually pulled off his full-face mask: the man underneath the blocky helmet bore a slight resemblance to an older Sharl, though his dark hair was cut in a short, military style and his eyepieces looked more like pilot's goggles than Sharl's mirror. At his move, the other militia officers did too, and as one they snapped off a perfect military salute to Gal Vanic: pounding their fists on their chests and extending it in the air. "Gal! Gal! Gal!" came the chant! "Four cheers for Citizen Gal!"- 176 replies

You don't need to spend the HP to stunt the extra duration (since he passed the Concentration check). Instead, having consulted with Electra, I'll put that HP towards buying up his power rank by 2 so he can get through Xevon's impervious. With Koshiro's Autofire, that's actually a DC 15+8+4+2=29 tou save. Which means he fails, which means he takes a bruise and is dazed. 23 Given their unique circumstances, I'll throw in a power complication for everyone in the hold: Papercut, Wraith, and Xevon will all be slowed for the duration of this fight. That'll limit them to one standard or two move actions, unless they spend an HP to take extra actions in the round without fatigue. Have an HP, Papercut and Wraith. Wraith is up.- 74 replies

The decor wasn't Mark's taste at all, rather the opposite, in fact, but he more than understood the idea of heroes, particularly mystic heroes, who chose to live among the signs and trademarks of their art. "Certainly," he agreed, following Nick that way without hesitation. He didn't blink at the strange sights of Parkhurst, and made sure to make appreciative noises at some of the more impressive pieces of necromantic objects d'art. "If you have lemonade?" It wasn't really lemonade weather, but a cool summery drink seemed suitably incongruous given the style of decoration. "I'd have gone to Adrian Eldritch," he added, making sure the necromancer knew he wasn't dealing with another ignorant UN bureaucrat, "but he prefers to be an independent agent."

Underdeck Papercut: 20 Wraith: 8 Xevon: 7 Papercut can maintain his Create Object effect while using other powers in his array if he makes a DC 17 Concentration check. He needs to make that check every round he's using a power from the array other than Create Object. (He can also pick up the origami box and hit Xevon with it, but that might make Wraith a little unhappy...plus there's a bomb in there!- 74 replies

"Good evening," said Edge seriously, reaching out to give Nick a solid, professional handshake. When Mark was on, he was on, and for all that his mind was wandering as freely as an unmoored ship, his attention was focused on the mystic before him like a laser. "My name is Edge, I'm a special agent of UNISON, the United Nations International Superhuman Oversight Network. You must be Nick Cimiterie. Mr. Cimiterie, the United Nations needs the services of the best necromancer in Freedom City for a potential humanitarian crisis. May I come in?" he inquired, looking up at the Parkhurst from the front door that they'd walked their way up to while talking. "Or do you prefer to do your business outside?"
