https://orokos.com/roll/908702 - if she can't Interpose she will try not successfully to Intimidate the guy

What the deuce? thought Angelic, staring down at the new arrival and wincing at his sudden attack on Chitin, though naturally she was a little distracted by Forever Boy. "That is my boyfriend," she said out loud to Apocalypsette. "Not the one in armor, the pretty one. He is a great speaker, yes? After we save the concert, he and I are going to really have some fun." As she talked with cool precision, she deactivated her magnetic flight circuits and simply dropped down to the ground at accelerating speed until she had stopped just a few feet off the ground in between Chitin and the new arrival. "You!" she declared, still holding the struggling Apocalypsette and visibly bleeding blue from her glowing white mouth. "I do not know what you think we are doing but we are preoccupied with more irritating creatures than you! Stop squirming you will give yourself a bruise!" she added to her captive.

Let's see. Angelic drops down between Chitin and the guy melting the armor off his flesh body. She doesn't have Interpose, but can I declare Interpose as the standard action she takes? Either way that's what she does. I'll post IC.

"Well I was expecting like some minor sex prevert stuff and maybe a few thugs, not robot-me and a box of insecurities in there" said Anna, her Jersey accent especially thick. "And you did fine, honey," she added, "that girl would have taken off my head if I'd been out here by myself." She shrugged and gave the broken torso a kick herself. "One thing about speedster fights, they're over real fast. Come on, let's go see if he ran off yet..." Elric hadn't actually run off yet, despite Anna's predictions; and at the sight of Raina and Anna he slid off the bed and fell to his knees. "Oh, thank God! I knew you wouldn't let her kill me!" Anna frowned, not looking mollified by his pleas as she advanced on him. "You're lucky I ain't in the killing business, ya bastid!" "I swear!" he begged. "Taking the pictures, trying to sell them, none of that was me! It was all the robot! Just like I told you online, I am your biggest fan!" Anna looked down at Elric, shooting Raina a baffled look for a second, before she asked, "And the girlbot out there?" "I...I thought it would be fun," he said, "to make her look like you. I know how this looks," he added hastily, "but I swear it was not a sex thing. I just...I didn't know she would...would take it that badly! I didn't even know she _could_ take things badly!"

"Miss Americana, okay. I'll have to look her up." She knew Miss Americana had already done work for AEGIS and the first Patriot, even if the relevant skillset between a robot and a human seemed pretty divergent. She kept her distance as Fleur talked medicine with her friends, glad that the news was keeping everyone from probing too much into her introduction. Hm. she thought. She didn't answer my question about gender, but maybe she didn't need to. She briefly pondered what a gender reveal party would look like if everyone was superpowered, then decided that was both a tactical scenario worth addressing and not something she wanted to think about in much detail. Jeez, she thought, she hasn't aged since she started out, it looks like. Guess she could just have as many kids as she wants, as long as she wants? That also went into the "worth evaluating but not thinking about" box.- 44 replies

Ashley shot him twice in the head, point-blank, carefully aimed blasts that peppered around his augmented eyes and overloaded his visual circuits. Then she reversed her pistols and smashed him on the sides of the head like she was ringing a bell once, twice, three times. When he stopped moving she cuffed him again, propping him up in Luke's arms so that his leg was cuffed to his wrist for maximum restraint. "There. You hurt?" she asked Nightscale shortly. Where the hell is my backup?

ic Return to Neverworld: Never/Forever
Avenger Assembled replied to RocketLord's topic in The Realms Beyond
"Puny thing of flesh and bone," hissed Eira as she moved on their prisoner. For the first time, Pan became conscious of a growing number of Eira's automatons who had seemingly abandoned their work on the chain that bound the crocodile to cluster around their maker. They were hard to miss now that they were visibly speaking, sharing the words and movements of Angelic as she advanced on the Hooked Man. She grabbed him by the sides of the head and began to squeeze. "Flesh bleeds! Bone breaks! Here - let me show you!"- 47 replies

Physical Description: Neko is petite, even for a Japanese girl born during the Great Depression, and needs thick-soled shoes to top five feet. Her hair is white with brown patches, matching the color of the soft fur on the large triangular ears that stick up over her head and the curling brown and white tail that comes out of the base of her spine. Other than those features she's quite human, at least if you ignore the yellow eyes and pointed incisors. (She usually uses her powers to hide these features from onlookers, though of course she can't fool recording devices.) Gawain is tall and rangy, his black hair in a long pageboy cut that fit in perfectly back home but is perhaps a trifle long for a young man of 2021. His eyes are green and quick and his frame has the build of the big, muscular guy he's going to finish growing into once he's a little older. He was honestly a little big for a literate type who might have been a priest in his own era, but he fits in pretty well among the jocks of Claremont.

In the summer of 1943, a great green knight and his trusty young squire rode out of the deep chasm of Lud's Church and declared themselves to be The Green Knight and Kid Gawain, here to defend the kingdom of Logres from the Saxon hordes. This was not an atypical scene in Great Britain during the Second World War, and the two found themselves working closely with Britain's native superheroes against the Ubersoldaten. But relations proved rocky. The Green Knight was as much trickster as warrior, testing his allies as much as his opponents, and was honestly an irritating person to fight alongside even if you managed to win his approval. So it was that when the chance came to send the Knight and squire off to battle overseas, a command from the King (suggested by Lady Celtic, both of them having sworn an oath of obedience to King George) helped encouraged Lord Bertilak and Owain (as they were known outside of their armor) to go to the Pacific and fight. It was all a grand adventure for Owain. Young, strong, and a hard worker, he had grown up the only son of an isolated lord on the edge of the kingdom, eager for the day when he would be old enough to join Arthur and his warband at their new great fortress at Camelot. He knew the blood of the Otherworld lay within him (what people would much later call the fae) and he used it, becoming a student of the enchantments taught by the great Menw fab Teirgwaedd. To be a knight-enchanter was a fine thing, and not condemned by the Church as long as he used this magic for good and noble causes. But as Owain got older, he began to lament that things were not what they once were. The days of Arthur and his warband riding into battle against dragons and giants seemed to lie in the distant past; a hard thing for a young boy who dreamed of adventure. He was fifteen when word came that a great and holy quest had been given to the knights of Camelot, a chance to battle in the Otherworld against a new and terrible form of Saxon, Owain used his magic to slip away from his family's home and join the great competition. After passing tests of mind and spirit, Owain was made a squire to Lord Bertilak, the Green Knight, himself a mighty warrior of both magic and brawn, and the two traveled together to a version of Logres some fifteen hundred years in the future. It was strange, it was wonderful, and he loved every minute of it. He did not give himself the name of Kid Gawain, but some medievalist writer of the news did, and he took to it like a duck to water - after all, Gawain had been the first knight of Arthur's court to visit his father's territory and tell him of the place. But like any young man he craved action and so was delighted when he and his master were sent abroad to battle against the forces of the Japanese Empire. But it was awful. Modern warfare was not particularly honorable or particularly glorious; it was raw murder. He saw things done and even did a few not fit for war, his master's bloody use of his ax on the unarmored bodies of their foes striking fear into his squire along with his enemies. He took to slipping away from the battlefield in the guise of an animal to perch in a tree or drink from a river, and sometimes considered staying that way and running far, far away. Until he met the Cat Devil, the wicked witch who had so often bedeviled their forces in this green hell of heat and wet - and found her to be just a small girl with a cat's ears and bobbed tail, bent over a lake to drink just as he was. They fought a few times, but then realized how much they had in common. When the boulder fell on Neko during the last struggle in the cave, Kid Gawain dropped his sword and did his best to move the rock. "Help me!" he begged the Green Knight in the medieval Welsh they spoke together "We can save her!" "We took an oath, boy! An oath to battle the enemies of the King! You're thinking with your loins; this is another one of her tricks! Follow me!" And then Bertilak pursued the Katana over the sound of Kid Gawain's last desperate plea. As the ice bomb ticked away in the collapsing cave, Kid Gawain planted his sword in the sand by Neko and prayed to Christ Jesus for a miracle. And perhaps he got one, as he'll be happy to tell you in this second bright new world. But the memory of that last moment in the cave stays with him still, a secret that down through the years only he and Neko know. The last thing he called after Lord Bertilak was "Father! Please!" The Green Knight has not been seen since the end of World War II.

Ashley had decided to stick it out with her new coworkers after all, which meant she was hanging around just in time to hear the big news. Briefly and irrationally she thought about her implant and made a mental note to check that it was okay, just in case. Better just be careful about copying her powers if that's something she can do to herself, she added mentally, focusing on the tactics of the situation. "Congratulations," she said, because it seemed to be the right thing to say. She poured herself a glass of water too, wondering if the Raven already knew about this. Of course, Callie had focused on her work too, even if she had found a family while doing that. "So I guess that makes it another girl?" she hazarded. "Who's your doctor? I don't really know anyone in the medical community who knows anything about meta stuff."- 44 replies

That got Melissa what was probably a Dakanan oath from the context, even if she wasn't necessarily familiar with the language - but the driver stayed her hand before hitting anyone or anything with a wrench. Luckily Bubastis, being flesh and blood, was not immune to the charms of the little robots once she realized they were actually trying to put on a show for her and not simply futuristic parasites. After a little while, she came out of the mech once she was sure the little robots would be accompanying her and not clambering around in "the greatest mechanical construction in the history of Dakana!" as she described it, with the help of a little translation from her brother. "She actually does speak English," said Joseph with a wink at the stocky, grease-spattered dynamo that was the great machine's pilot, "she is just very prideful in her language." Evidently she did, from the glare that got him. "Dinosaurs - oh yes! Like the Beast of Kilimanjaro," he added to Leon. "Does that still exist in this remarkable century?"- 74 replies

"The first is mine to offer, but you don't have to talk about anything personal in front of the newbie," said the Patriot good-humoredly. Ashley took that as her cue to start packing, though she didn't rush on the way out. If the team was willing to talk openly in front of her, that was all to the good; if not, maybe there'd be another couple of questions for her. Things had gone pretty well, even if she was still coloring a little in her cheeks at the thought of Fleur remembering her first time in high schools. At least she didn't ask me about the second! she thought wryly, lingering in the room as the conversation started.- 44 replies

Midnight I's edited file for Nekomata, aka Cat Devil, based on contemporary US intelligence reports, with Travis Hunter's handwritten notes included: It's in an old manila folder with a few black and white images of a girl with cat ears and black sailor fuku posing with other Japanese super-soldiers. Powerful witch in service of the Japanese Empire, member of Yamata no Orochi. The youngest member - mascot? Good luck charm? Human despite animal features. Personal companion of the Crimson Katana - possible lover/daughter? Praises him in public appearances + propaganda films but is obviously terrified in close proximity. Why the school uniform? Summons monsters - Japanese cat-devils - to attack Allied forces in East Asia Accompanies IJA forces in field but no reports of direct attacks. Summoned creatures do not show up on film. Illusionist? Not deployed to Home Islands. Seen as unreliable? Insufficiently powerful? And then underneath, in pen rather than pencil. MIA since end of Burma campaign. Just a little girl.

Avenger Assembled replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in City Center
"The rollout is in a week," said Ashley, frowning, "and I don't-" Suddenly there was a distinct vibration beneath their feet, like the sound of a large truck passing by a small house - except they were solidly underground. Ashley cursed, head up, as the lights shifted to red and a persistent siren began blaring. "That's the intruder alert," she said shortly. "I need to find the Vice-President and the rest of my detail. Keep an eye on the kids," she told Alek, not particularly giving a damn at the moment that they were teenagers trained to battle supercriminals. And then she turned and bolted from the room, leaving the Raven and his sidekicks as sirens blared across the underground AEGIS base. Looking out into the corridor revealed that they were largely alone, but from shouts and running feet outside the base was itself going onto high alert.- 27 replies

Angelic looked at the guitar, considering, and then rocketed up into the air as fast as her internal storage batteries allowed. They were close to two hundred and fifty feet up by the time she stopped. It was only now that she let herself hear the internal sensors that warned her of the damage she'd taken, the delicate internal components shattered by that thing's magically-empowered blow. "There. Now there is no one we can hurt, yes?" Her wings flexed behind her as her fingers dug tight into the other girl's waist, enough that she could feel the outlines of her pelvis. "Your machine has no power over me, because there is nothing inside me. Nothing." She smiled, blue fluid dripping from inside her glowing white mouth, voice dropping to a throaty growl as they hovered above the battle below. She cocked her head and took the time to send a rapid-fire text to her group chat. DESTROY THE CREATURES TO FREE THE CAPTIVES BEFORE THEY ARE EATEN. DO NOT TOUCH THE GUITAR. WHERE IS THIS PERSON? She included a recorded image from her internal files of the angry-looking nonbinary person they had been studying before. "We should talk before your artifact cracks my internal batteries and triggers an explosion. You have no power without the guitar. An electro-chemical explosion in the gigawatt range-" rapidly, she hugged the girl to her chest, arms going around her back, and added in her ear in a cold whisper that smelled faintly chemical "would be bad, yes? So-" she added conversationally. "I am Eira," she added. "and I am proof that science is stronger than death. Who are you?"

Eira flies 200 ft into the air, maintaining her grapple. I'll spend an HP for Inspiration for the best way to solve the problem in the thread, since the GM has dropped a few hints. I'll hold off posting till I get the deets! 16 on the requested Knowledge (Arcane Lore) check, with Quickness 6

Okay: EP, you recognize what this used to be as a heavily modified Centuritron, though evidently one rigged to explode. You've heard of a few of those active in Rurland (aka the Robot Nation), but you've never fought one directly. Getting access to one and reprogramming it must have been quite the feat. On the other hand, it occurs to you that this was not actually a very big boom for a robot with that much power; you probably could have killed both of you with access to the inner workings of one of these things. You do have a suspicion that this was probably not Talos or his people, since they genuinely do not use robots for suicide missions. It's a mystery! Let me know if Terrifica has other questions you want answered, I'll be happy to do that after this roll. -

Ashley made a surprised noise that might have been "nya" before her training and experience quickly reasserted themselves. "I-am a graduate of Claremont Academy who studied under Mr Lumins," she agreed. "As for my career as a teenage vigilante," she went on, her tone curling with belated embarrassment, "I'm sure if we all sat here and traded stories about the people we were in high school, we could all find some embarrassing things." She left it there, not wanting to show her ass anymore than she already had. "Anyway, I think that covers everything I was planning to discuss." Despite the urge to get up and bolt, she kept her seat and asked, "Does anyone else have any questions for me?"- 44 replies
