  1. Caradoc's journey through the robot hordes was mechanical in its own way, the 'knight''s attacks as rigidly organized as the robots' reply. He smashed aside weapons raised against him and drove the blade of his 'sword' through heads and faces, bringing the blade down through the midsection to slice bodies in twain when some particular design proved more resilient. This was hardly the first robot army the former Omegadrone had destroyed, though it was certainly under more pleasant circumstances than the last. In the real fight, he didn't bother with the fake banter: instead he was simply a one-man murder machine, silently tearing his way through the robotic gang until at last he stood at the entrance of the plant, his body covered in scratches and gouges, glistening with mechanical oil, but none of it his. "Are the rest of you prepared?" he inquired at their approach.
  2. The rifle crumbled to so many fragments in Sage's telekinetic grasp, the black-clad man outside vanishing behind a heating duct and out of the teen psychic's view. Safely lodged inside the building's security system, Citizen spoke over the internal speakers. "Uh, looks like that guy outside is...Orion, the Crime League member. Not very formidable himself, he's just some guy with a gun, but if he's here, there might be-what, what's-" Suddenly, many things happened at once: a great crack came from the sky as electricity rocketed through the building, the lights flickering and going dark, some exploding in showers of sparks, the computers going dead and Sharl's voice going silent. A moment later, outside the world went black: not just dark, but black as a visible wall of black radiation came swooping down out of the sky and encased Freedom Hall inside a dome of opaque darkness. From the faint glow inside the building, looking out they could just see where the shape outside enclosed the Hall off from the rest of the world. By the glare of faint red emergency lights, the heroes realized the power was out, at least one teammate was missing, and they were sealed away alone inside the stronghold of Freedom City's heroes with no one to come to their aid. It was very dark, and it stood to reason they were not alone...
  3. Since it's an Equipment rifle, I'll say the rifle is crushed. Go ahead and post, Sorus
  4. There was something a little eerie about the deserted Freedom Hall, the hollow footsteps of the teenagers (well, those that took steps, anyway) echoing in the halls as they patrolled a building normally bustling full of people. Citizen spent most of his time in the League's computer, which though full of firewalls was still full of fascinating data (it also meant he could watch outside via the League's computer systems and security cameras, thus help keeping an eye outside). The large crowd that had been there in the morning, shouting their demands for the League's help, eventually died down as the work day went on and people who still believed in their old lives went to work. Most of the doors had actually been left unlocked thanks to the emergency, and teens who wanted could walk through Captain Thunder's office, Johnny Rocket's rec room, Star Knight's weirdly spartan office (which looked more like a hockey and football devotee's space than a gadgeteer's) and all the rest. Standing in the corridor outside the League's offices on the second floor, Sage had a good view through the bay window at the end of the hall: she could see the office park across the street from the Hall readily enough. And there, just on the roof, was a black-costumed man in the process of setting up a rifle and scope...
  5. "Are you animals changed to men?" he asked, "or men changed by other men?" Freedom Angel thought about calling on his colleagues in the Freedom League for backup, but rejected the idea: he still felt guilty over his temporary departure from their organization, and desired not to call on them unless it was an emergency. "Yes, let us go to your place of origin and see what we might see," said the angel seriously. "We are here as champions of justice and right for all sentient beings, wherever they come from." The words were a little corny, but the angel obviously believed every word of them. "Come, my friends," he said with a look at Protectron, Glowstar, and Cobalt Templar, unhesitatingly including all three heroes in his zone of trust. "Let us go. Lead the way," he said to the animals, trusting that whichever was the wisest and most observant (most likely the Professor) would steer them the right way.

For those of you who haven't watched the show, Perry is the pet of the titular main characters, a platypus who 'doesn't do much'. (Monotreme pets aren't that unusual in the show's universe given that there is Platypus Chow available in pet stores in giant bags; the show's creators have mentioned they went with an unusual animal to make sure no copycat pets were purchased by parents). Despite this reputation, it turns out Perry the Platypus is actually just the secret identity of Agent P, the dashing secret agent of OWCA (Organization Without a Cool Acronym) who every week battles the machinations of the evil Dr. Heinz Doofenschmirtz to guard the citizens of the Tri-State Area from various In-ators. I've fudged the character a bit; this is more a platypus-totem hero with secret agent training, but I think he still works as a decent conversion of the character: he can convincingly catch up to a speeding BO-AT underwater, he can change his appearance at the drop of a hat, and he's got the skills to put giant robots, ray-in-ators, and other dangerous mad scientist threats down for the count. In the show, while Perry's an OK shot, he's much more inclined to duke it out with his nemesis in hand-to-hand (er, hand-to-tail) so he's better at fisticuffs than most of your typical agent builds. He can still pull spy gadgets out as a free action, though, to explain all those wonderful toys he carries around like gliders and parachutes. He's also got the cool secret powers of your typical platypus (that we don't see on the show) like paralytic venom, electrolocation, and other powers that let him stand out from the crowd. Add Shrinking, among other things like the Mute drawback, to get a better straight conversion of the character from the show. You could also give him Morph/Metamorph to let him turn into a real platypus. In my mind, this character was a low-level super who used his abilities to become a secret agent as well as a superhero: being a platypus totem (perhaps a mutant, or one injected with radioactive platypus venom) might be just a guy off the street, but with real secret agent training he could really make something of himself. People may not expect the funny animal guy to be a super-spy, or the super-spy to turn around and have natural animal abilities underneath his bland exterior. Get yourself an archenemesis, preferably a large ham-type, and go to town.
  7. "That is how gods have made appearances in the past," hazarded Edge at Erin's suggestion. "But why would someone call on Donar in particular? I mean, the Norse pantheon doesn't exactly have a great record, either for being good people or for actually accomplishing something except killing. I mean, there was that Norse superheroine active here, but I think she was probably just inspired by the Valkyries or something." Like most people who got their history from World War II veterans, Mark didn't view the Asgardians with any particular charity. He hmmed. "Why don't we-" Suddenly, there was from the invisible sky above a tremendous boom of thunder, clearly audible even down below at the base of Midnight Manor, the loudest yet that the North Bay residents had heard of this storm that hadn't yet gone away. Looking on the Manor's security cameras, the heroes could clearly see what had happened: a massive lightning strike in the middle of North Bay Park just a half-mile away had done more than scorch the landscape: standing in the middle of the strike's circle of charred grass, ignoring the rain beating down on him, was the unmistakable figure of a broad-shouldered, long-haired man in Norse armor, his massive hammer just visible by the grainy image of the security camera at the park.
  8. EDIT: Whoops, looks like Firehawk actually acted _after_ Sharl. Ah well, the only PC hurt was mine, so no harm, no foul. Reflex save: 25 vs. 17 OK, so his suit's TOU drops by 8 to a total of 15 Tou save vs 30: 20! Buuut Firehawk isn't going to let his boss go down that easy, so he spends another HP (putting him at 3) and give one to Protector to reroll that one. 29 Thank God, he made the worst possible roll he could have made! OK, so his suit is currently at Tou +14. Sharl is sufficiently distressed by this that he'll surge: That hits. 24 26 But he makes the save. Well, dang. he'll spend an HP to cancel the fatigue. Sage is up.
  9. His body still smoldering from that bizarre power overload he'd taken from Firehawk, Citizen was about to go over there and punch the guy who'd hurt him in the face when he realized the flaw in his strategy. No, be smart. Be like Miss Americana. Who are these guys? He thought fast, trying to place them from both his own research and the helpful wi-fi connection someone had set up in the detention center behind them. "A giant speedster, a city controller, a power controller, a magus," he said out loud, looking from Blitzen, Rustbelt, Firehawk, and Black Goat in turn, "...and a man in a powersuit." His teeth in a snarl, Citizen took off the short distance across the street and shoved his fist through a startled Protector's torso. "You brought a powersuit to fight ME?Your technology sucks!" He felt the computers inside the suit and poured a surge of energy into them; he didn't bother to possess them, just overload them all! Despite all his tough talk, though, Protector's suit did continue to hold together, if it smoked noticeably at the edges.
  10. Firehawk Inspires his team, giving them +4 till his turn on the next round. Citizen is up.
  11. "C'mon, Champions, are we really going to let a bunch of parvenu children toss us around?" sniffed Firehawk disdainfully at the sight of his team meeting their first reverse at the solid hit landed on the giant Blitzen. "You know how long we've been around and all the so-called 'good guys' we've taken out?" he added in the direction of Young Freedom. "You're nothing but a bunch of Junior Leage Jolly Jumpers who got their powers out of a cereal box! Go home to your mummies and daddies," he said with a little wave of his hand, "and let the grownups play with their toys. Come on, boy," he added to Papercut, "show my meth-addled colleague here what you're made of! Take someone out!
  12. 19 I'll go with that. Under our new house rules, he's bruised and dazed.
  13. Sanctuary was a lovely world these days, or at least it was in the area around where Fleur de Joie and Gaian Knight had been working for so many months to make the area green and livable. With thousands of evacuees living in emergency shelters ranging from actual houses to tents, conditions were considerably less pleasant: if the unthinkable did happen and they were cut off from Earth-Prime by the great disaster, the heroes here were going to have to work hard to make things livable even in the medium-term. But they had supplies and powers enough for everyone evacuated to live in something like comfort, and there was something to be said for that. As Fleur de Joie and the others stepped out of the big flower nearby her house, the sound of screaming rent the air from nearby! One of the nearby shelters was in flames from who knew what cause, the structure of wood and earth burning from the roof down, and a crowd was gathering: Fleur and Freedom Angel recognized what was going on with sick horror. That was no ordinary house; that was one of the clinic buildings! "Someone help! We have people stuck in there," shouted one of the civilians (Fleur recognized him as Floyd, one of the locals who'd volunteered to help), looking overjoyed at the sight of her and her companions. "It's Fleur de Joie and the others! She'll help us!"
  14. "A program, eh?" said Blitzen, showing uncommon and downright unsettling smarts for so big and brutish a man. "I'm going to have a lot of fun with you!" And with that, his giant fists sparking with electricity that could have hurt even Citizen's electromagnetic projection, the giant speedster charged right at the Tronik teenager and threw a massive punch! But Sharl was too fast even for the speedster, instead disappearing right through the giant's torso and popping out the other side as Blitzen slammed into the wall of the jail hard enough to leave a crater in the brick, the juvenile center rocking as if from a truck's impact. Clutching his projector case carefully, glad it hadn't been tagged, the startled Citizen yelled, "The bigger they are, the harder they fall!"
  15. Round 2: Sage is fatigued and out of HP. Citizen is injured. Protector, Rustbelt, and Black Goat will be acting after Papercut thanks to holding their initiative. Wraith is entangled until her own turn. Blitzen is up. He misses Citizen and since he wasn't expecting to fight an Insubstantial target, I'll say he plows right through him and hits the wall! KD, Corbin can renter the fight now.
  16. All right, I want to give Torque a chance to weigh in, though I know Cy has been very busy. For the moment, why don't you guys all post what you're doing (with any skill rolls that seem relevant), and then I'll take you up into space?
  17. Citizen had been about to tell everyone off for fighting, particularly over their stupid political divisions, but luckily by the time anyone looked his way the incipient argument had seemed to stop before it started. After a moment's pause, he added, "I'm staying too. Quitting now would be the first step towards anarchy; towards letting her win." Now that he'd finished his conversation with Miss Americana, Sharl found himself glancing up sometimes as well, as if expecting the subject of his childhood lessons to come boiling out of space right there and devour them all. He had no idea what a nanite swarm would do to his projected consciousness, but he had a feeling it wouldn't be good. "The only way we're going to save this world is if all of us work together, and that means we do this right now. I'm sorry we've been trouble, Lady Liberty." The patriotic heroine nodded at that, seemingly satisfied with everyone's answer, even Sage's and Papercut's. And with that, barring any further questions, she gave a quick tour of the building to Young Freedom, showing them how to activate the Hall's defenses from the security station, what areas would need special protection, and all the rest. Despite the small group of chanting protesters outside, this posting looked like it would actually be surprisingly dull. The Hall was something of an urban fortress, extending underground and above; down below were the monitoring room and other high-tech wonders like Raven's computer, above was the statuary hall Kimber had found. It certainly wasn't a bad place to spend the end of the world, if it came to that.
  18. Durf, Ace recognizes the pattern of the lightning strikes. When you sketch them out, they make the Old Norse sign for D-O-N-A-R.
  19. "We are saving who we can and what we can, against a disaster that we all pray will not come," said the angel with his usual honesty. "Every day, whether in green hood or divine armor, you and I and all the others go out and fight for mankind. Not because we expect to win every battle that first day, not even because we believe we can triumph over all evils. But because there is a need, and we are there to fill it." He sighed. "As for the current threat, humanity has faced extinction before and survived. I have faith that mankind will save the Earth. But faith is no bar to action; the kind of action we are taking right now."
  20. By the time the last evacuation group of the day had been transferred over to Sanctuary, Amaryllis had needed a diaper change and a feeding. Freedom Angel hadn't flagged in his tireless efforts to keep the evacuees calm and ordered, taking advantage of an angel's endurance as best he could. He'd sent through what congregants of his own he'd managed to volunteer, making the choice of sacrifice and salvation that his maker had made so many centuries earlier, but it was still a stressful time even for a messenger of the Almighty. "All right, I believe we are just waiting for the other heroes, and then we can all slip the bonds of this globe for yours for the night. Are you well?" he asked Fleur solicitously. "Do you need to recuperate?"
