ic Arrows In The Hands Of A Warrior (IC)
Avenger Assembled replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Greenbank
Serpa's face twisted in pain as she took her mother's hand, Aarden's look stoic but no less sympathetic as she locked eyes with the younger woman. For his part, Steve kept his own council in the corner but he wondered what his friends knew of the Furions. The shining champions beneath the Silver Tree, who risked all and spent all and lived all, in their Forever War against the Omnicide. He thought of the Furion children he had seen, with the perfect confidence of immortality, knowing always that the best death would be a death laughing against the power of Omega itself. And how they fell silent when they saw a shadow of the monster approach. He closed hie eyes as Aarden said, looking back at the two. "I understand your words, Doctor. If the flow has been diverted, a new stream must be found." She looked at Ellie and said in an ancient voice that bespoke a great many centuries, "Take from my waters." -

"Because..." Eira struggled, forcing her brain to process. The mental fog here was alarming - were her internal components being forced to obey the local laws of physics? A grim thought, to imagine herself transformed into one of these steampunk automatons..."Because this is the only place in this whole dimension that obeys the laws of science. And science can do anything," she said firmly, "if properly applied." She gripped Frankenstein's arm and looked him in the eye, "I am here to show you science as you have never dreamed." -

The heroes made their way out of the submarine, Luke with his prize and Aquaria keeping a watchful eye on her friend. Jessie had tried very hard and she had done a very good job, and it wasn't fair she was so sad after all this but sometimes the world was very unfair to Jessie. It was good that they had defeated the evil witch and destroyed all the dead things that were alive, but this was not the sort of joy she'd hoped to feel bringing her best friend out for such an auspicious day. When they walked outside the night sky was black with clouds and distant thunder echoed, a sign of a great storm swept up while they were below. Wraith and Nightscale thought they could feel something slip away and past them as they walked out onto the deck of the ancient submarine, not a ghost, really, but something that leaped into the pure waters of the sea with a glad heart. And then the miracle came. An especially loud clap of thunder shook the heavens and a rain began. A rain not of water but of fragments, falling, flapping minnow-sized fish and leaping, hopping creatures like tiny frogs that fell from the sky and flapped into the water or into the hull of the abandoned ship. Aquaria gave a great, exultant shout as she pointed overhead and all the heroes could see a shadow in the clouds - a manifestation of the god that lived in the Sea of Stars, not a true manifestation, perhaps, but a shadow like a great, magnificent dolphin with the face of a man, the symbols of wickedness turned to good that could only mean a touch by the god herself! "BELOPA!" Aquaria exulted, falling to her knees and spreading her arms as the bounty fell from the sky. "LOOK JESSIE IT IS A MIRACLE!" Her cries were joined by the small group of Deep Ones still on shore; the human campers seemed to be trying to take shelter in their tents from the rain of fish and frogs. The thunder rumbled again, and it seemed to distinctly be saying all their names, praise from the one above from the ones below. "AUSPICIOUS!"- 65 replies

The teenage doofus Ashley had had to play her first year at Claremont, the thug who was a parody of every bad decision the Raven had ever made, would have threatened the kid - or maybe whoever it was that was puppeteering him. Watchdog didn't have to play that game anymore, though. Instead she said out loud "Sorry about this, kid." Then she punched him in the stomach with her right hand, right over the diaphragm. The movement forced a sudden intake of breath, and she took advantage of that by raising her left hand and spraying him in his open mouth with knockout spray. Well it was technically knockout spray. Having tested it on herself, she knew it burned. Geez I need better stuff she thought as she emptied her cartridge into the cyborg's mouth.

We've looked at this and the VP is just too big, especially with those very broad descriptors. Some suggestions: Buy Enhanced Attributes to get you up to caps. Maybe a smaller VP, with 5-10PP? Array of Alternate Forms, though a small one, like the sample sheet.

"Oh, hello!" said the uniformed individual behind the desk, dark eyes lighting up at the sight of Ryder and Danica. Slimly built and darkly complected, it was hard to tell their gender and the nametag KIVA didn't necessarily tell Ryder or Danica much. They were friendly enough, though, and rose to their feet. With a ready smile, they turned and pointed towards to a glass-walled corridor that turned off to the left. "Angelic has reserved one of the VR testing facilities today, and Voltage is on file as her current lab partner. They're working on a mobility assistive device." Kiva's friendly voice had altered just a little bit on the last three words, sounding like they were reciting a memorized speech. When they had finished, Kiva sat down and smiled at the pair. "Is there anything else I can help you with today?"

Okay, just checking to make sure! My big concern about this character is how broad its powers are. It's been frustrating sometimes with players who just dig around in their Swiss Army belt of power rather than deal with IC challenges. I'd recommend looking at a sheet like this for perhaps an easier way to do it: https://www.freedomplaybypost.com/topic/5127-from-the-laboratory-of-dr-archeville/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-149933

Just to clarify, Kaede, how do you see the Action flaw working on the sheet?

The man who once called himself the Patriot and by late 2021 goes by Sovereign Citizen seemed like a model American not that long ago. Paul Revere is used to people joking about his name, but it's one he bears with pride. The Rivières first came to Maine a century ago from their native Quebec and prospered rapidly. His great-grandfather worked at a paper mill, his grandfather managed one, his late father owned one. The Revere men served their adoptive country in war and peace, fighting for the opportunity they had been denied back in Canada. Paul learned growing up to treasure the American dream, where hard work and self-reliance means that anyone can succeed, and to try and fight against anybody who'd try and tarnish the American legacy. He was smart and self-motivated and knew the easiest path to do that (especially if you had no superpowers) was by serving his nation in uniform. Coming up on the age of thirty, he's proud that he's done so since the age of 17, both in the Maine National Guard as a military policeman and (for the last five years) in the United States Border Patrol. He's learned a lot. People really are alike all over. There are the good ones who want a better life for themselves and their families, and then there are the others. What the others have in common is that they're liars. The locals outside the base in Afghanistan who made up bullshit stories about his buddies to try and get a payoff from Uncle Sam; the illegal aliens who made up sob stories about wherever it was they were from so they could jump the line and start draining America dry without ever giving back to it. It's hard work fighting back against that sort but if nobody else is going to stand up for America, he'll get it done. Up until recently, though, he was getting tired. Between the forever war overseas and the constant struggle against people smugglers and drug-runners on the border, he was starting to wonder if the fight was ever going to end. Being the only really honest, really committed man in a big organization can be draining. In late 2019, though, he was amazed - and honored - when he and a group of elite federal law enforcement were invited to join a special training program to take up a long-neglected American legacy. The Patriot.

"It can hover at a walking speed," said Eira easily, her tone seeming to add 'but why would anyone do that'. "And do not worry, that is why I have not yet actually begun construction. Chelone does not let people push her around; if she has some changes to make, she will suggest them." She hmmed, stroking her chin. "Perhaps speakers? I know her taste in music well enough and it could go directly into the helmet..."

"Charmed," said Eira, who managed a smile for the figured pulled from one of her favorite works of science fiction. If I am trapped here among refugees from the literary world of dead Anglophones, at least it is not all men. She shook his hand, deliberately using the degloved one so he could feel her true mechanical nature. Let them know. Let them all know. "Come, let us work." -
"That's an interesting question," commented Irons dryly, "as the answer will change as soon as I confirm my identity." He smiled thinly at the screen, after giving Eira a firm simulated handshake, then said, "Director Bonham, a few of his top staff. My former secretary Ms. Pierce, and of course a few members of the Freedom League. Why do you ask?"

February 27, 2021 The Lab The craft hovered in midair, its magnetic induction coils active as it gripped the Earth's magnetic field like the wheels of a racecar hugging the track. With a gesture, Angelic turned the boomerang-shaped flying wing back and forth, its gold and black polish gleaming in the light of a simulated sun. Stepping to the other side, she was barely visible through the faintly transparent hologram. "With a maximum velocity of 800 kilometers per hour, Winge will allow Chelone to cruise to her native Southwest in a morning's drive," she said with a cool smile on her face, "and is precise enough to allow for hovering as low as a few centimeters off the ground." She squeezed her fingers to magnify the hologram, and showed off the hooks for Chelone's feet, the matching helmet for her head that would give her a faceshield against the wind and provide her a computerized heads-up display, and the internal workings of the navigation system. "It is much too fast for an unassisted human brain to pilot safely but the internal GPS has a processing speed that will exceed a human brain tenfold!" When she dismissed the hologram, she was beaming. With her hair a brilliant platinum blonde shot through with streaks of blue, her labcoat a perfectly polished white, and her hands now folded behind her back, she looked a bit like a punk-rock version of Miss Americana - though the bar through her eyebrow and ring in her nose were all hers. "All that remains is to activate the 3-D printers and begin the work. I had thought of incorporating weapons or defenses, but Chelone is formidable enough on her own. What do you think, Voltage?" she asked. She looked, in her self-confidence and with her smile, actually quite a bit like the little girl he had first met years earlier.

"In size, or..." Frost spread his cupped hands curiously, then added reassuringly, "And so that, and...physical and tactical training, like the Raven or Foreshadow?" He didn't offer anything else, not wanting to prejudice the younger man's story about his own abilities. Exaggeration would get them exactly nowhere fast. "I hope you understand, am not trying to encourage underselling or exaggeration, but is good to know where we stand, yes?"

Judy and Danica returned to Claremont together in a flash of rainbow light, where they had quite a story to tell to their classmates and teachers. Ashley reassured Fa'Rua that material objects didn't just come to life if you left them alone long enough, even on a really weird and often obnoxious planet like Earth, then 'played hooky' long enough to help hand off a group of pirate orphans out in deep space. She and Judy wound up confined to campus for a week when she made it back some 48 hours later. The Smith sisters couldn't stay too long in lockdown, though, it was almost November! Eira did her best to explain to Pan that you had to make machines be sentient in this dimension, it didn't just happen. Most of the time, anyway. Maybe she could make it up to Danica by helping her with a new ride...

"Yeah, we don't want to burn any bridges - with our friends on the Freedom League or anywhere else." He smiled quickly, then said, "I'll tell you what, let's split it. I'll call Stesha, you call...oh geez, what was the name of that guy who used to work for Katastroff but does heroing in the city now." He snapped his fingers quickly, then said, "Voltage! We probably need one other science person just to be sure, so I'll rustle that up, and you can take Archer?" He shrugged. "Or however it works out."

Ah, jeez! thought Ashley. Quickly she snapped open a pair of shackles, the long ones that wouldn't immediately tug, and snapped one around the lower leg of the big, heavy table. It was bolted down, maybe to keep customers from moving it, making it the perfect anchor as she slapped the other shackle around the cyborg kid's ankle. An instant after it was on she wondered if this was just going to aggravate the kid's fear, but there was no time to go backwards now. "Hey! Hey!" She got between Luke and the cyborg, her hands out unthreateningly, raised on either side of her head. Luckily she was far from defenseless that way, but there was no reason to alert the kid to that. "It's all right! It's all right! You're safe!"

In the captain's now ashy, vaguely-decayed remains, you see a shiny gold compass engraved with strange signs - one that seems to have some sort of strange energy about it. When you pick it up, the needle points back towards Sea Devil. -
"Interesting," said Frost, seemingly all business as he watched Ghost demonstrate his powers "How do you accomplish effect?" He folded his hands in front of his mouth and looked at Ghost with the air of a man who was waiting for the real action of the play to start.

Okay, @Nerdzul give me a DC 15 Notice check. -
Ah, @RocketLord, a bound and helpless character cannot make Reflex saves - https://freeronin.com/2e_files/MM2eFAQ.pdf So since he failed the Grapple by 17 points, he should not be able to avoid being handcuffed.

Ashley is going to try and cuff the kid to the table in the room with her Snare. I can roll if you want, but she'll hold off on it until Luke has him grappled.
