"Oh my sweet Lord," Joan breathed. Any ambitions she might have had of waiting for other heroes to arrive, much less the police, died when she saw the horrors down below. Unbidden, she remembered the tank at the Portland Aquarium, the horror of feeling her bones slowly beginning to dissolve inside mutating flesh..."Tony," she said peremptorily to the chopper pilot, "you need to set me down and switch over to medevac. Don't try and be a hero; stay away from the ocean. Just get people off that beach before those things start coming to shore! Put me down there," she said, "behind the lifeguard station! I know it's tough, but sometimes you've gotta be part of the story!" It took some work to persuade the chopper pilot of that, but within seconds he'd set Joan down, awkward, cumbersome dress and all, and then taken to the skies again, his cameras recording everything to go in later articles. As he disappeared, Joan ducked behind the shelter of the empty lifeguard stand, the screams of terrified people in her ears, as the morphic molecules of her dress warped and shifted around her, pulling down into the skintight, heavily armored costume of Fusion! When her mask closed over her face, she ran for the water faster than any human could, running _past_ the fleeing, screaming civilians as she leapt and dived into the water, her long, muscular tentacles already whipping around her body as she blasted seawater out powerful jets on her midsection, propelling her towards the sharks at fantastic speed!

Joan caught the radio broadcast at her desk at the Ledger, cocking her head as she heard the terrified screams coming through the radio report. The beach! Sweet Lord, it's ninety degrees on a summer Saturday! It'll be swarming with kids! Jumping to her feet as Fletch Beaumont strode out to dispatch someone to cover the emergency, she yelled, "Fletcher! I'm on this one!" She'd earned the right to call her boss by his first name in the wake of the fallout after the incident with the Scarab. "I need Tony to fly the chopper out there!"

Ozoe, I'm concerned about this character. Her backstory is considerably more melodramatically tragic than we like for characters on this site, and her personality doesn't sound like something that'll integrate well into our social structure. What can you do to make her sociable enough that other people will want to interact with her?

Jack nodded at Taylor and strode up to his son, letting his trust in Taylor propel him down a road all his senses told him was insane. "" he instructed the other man. ""

Bee-Keeper II, The (PL15 NPC, Tier 2)
Avenger Assembled replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Non-Player Characters
I would say people who turn into Bee-People take a big Wisdom and Charisma hit (in general, becoming more drone-like) and use those points to buy themselves a lovely set of shimmery bee wings, with maybe a stinger to go with them. Maybe losing the ability to speak in words? He cannot actually control bees, merely speak to them in their native language. And remember, the Modern Age Bee-Keeper is the successor to the Silver Age version, having secured rights to the identity after a personal interview. -
Suddenly, everything was happening at once! Mark smiled with relief when Mike stopped his rampage, glad that everything had turned out OK, before suddenly a car appeared in a flash of light and came tumbling down at him. Before he could react, Mike threw himself in front of the car and took the full impact, saving Mark from what would surely have been a painful, unpleasant injury. "Holy cow! Isn't that Eddie's car?" Mark scratched his head. "Someone must have tossed it here. Mike, you okay?"

Avenger stared his near-doppleganger down with intensity, his hands balling into fists as the arch-predator stared at his arch-rival. "Don't you talk to her that way," the words ground out, falling back on a pattern he didn't even know he had. Time to see if the other man there would fall into the same routine. Easiest way to catch a lie. As it happened, he found himself sounding a great deal like his own father. "Your purpose here?"

Mark spends one of his HP as a reaction: quote, reroll that attack roll and take the worst of two rolls!

At that moment, just a few feet away, the walls between the worlds bent open just a crack, disgorging forth Fleur de Joie, the green guardian of growing things, Dark Star, the cosmic champion of space, Phantom, the chosen of Heshem and guardian of the dimensions, and Avenger, the grim and gritty vigilante, on the same rooftop as Jack of all Blades and the strange man who'd been running around wearing Avenger's old mask. It was getting to be a very crowded night.

"He...he what?" Avenger studied the mirror, as ever catching not even a glimpse of his reflection there. "And with what's his name no less...." Unable to believe what he was thinking, as ever, he picked action. Stopping just long enough to pull his costume on, he barked, "Quick! We must go! Take everybody! And with that, Avenger and everyone else disappeared as Phantom hurled them through the Void to the West End, appearing in a whisper on a rooftop by Jack of all Blades and the man in the Avenger mask.

"It's an evil robot!" Mark boomed. "But we'll soon deal with that!" He concentrated on the robot, its internal components collapsing more and more as the sheer power of bad luck poured through its every inner working. "You can't handle the power of the Breakdown of music and the Edge of reason!" Mark shouted, pointing his finger at the bad, bad robot.

"I'm okay, really," said Mark, who'd decided to stay quiet and let other people's conversation go over his head, but he wasn't so annoyingly humble as to actually turn away Alex's healing. He sat up and looked around. "I could see everything. I really could, I could see and understand the whole universe, my life, the world, everything. I've never felt such a deep connection to the very nature of reality. For the first time in my life, I completely understood myself. And now it's gone." He paused a beat, then exclaimed, "So did we do it? Is it celebration time now? Young Freedom for life, right?"

Mark checked on his battered date and pulled himself to his feet. "I'll be right back," he promised Zarana, stealing a quick kiss before running pell-mell to the confrontation between Mike and James. Just as Mike tossed Erin aside, Mark ran between Mike and James. He didn't hesitate a fraction: instead he ripped open his tux and white shirt, sending buttons flying everywhere as he exposed his fragile pink torso to Mike's fists. "You gonna hit me too, Mike?" he asked, disappointment in his eyes. "I'm not as tough as Erin, but I'm still going to put myself in front of your fists before you do something you'll regret later."

Mark spends an HP on Erin's behalf to clear her stun.

"I'll make it better," Jack promised. "But maybe in a couple of days, when her mood's had a chance to settle down. You know how Lynn can be sometimes." He hmmed. "I guess I should have brought the head back with me, but I was hoping maybe she'd have come out to collect it."
-
"C'mon, honey, why don't you turn solid again and we can talk about this like civilized people," he suggested, his face all innocence. "It'll be all right. You know how much the Interceptors appreciate practical jokes, right? And I'm sure Grim wouldn't go and do a thing like that. It'll be okay. This was just a little ill-advised. And I really don't think she picked up on...well, the other thing."

"Well...I mean, it depended on the circumstances and who you were kissing. I mean if it was Ace, that'd be one thing, but..." He blinked, listened to his words and thoughts. "OK, fine, I should have told you I was trying to see if Grim would kiss me before I did it! And maybe about the head thing, but I swear I thought you knew about that. Jeez, is it just Wesley and I who heard about that?"
-
"Honey that's the Louis XIV!" he called, catching the end table whipped his way as his wife unleashed her wrath. "It didn't mean anything! It was just to see if she really liked and respected you! And she did! Nothing even happened, and it wouldn't have mattered if it did!" He ducked behind a corner, vaguely conscious of the dire faces of the ghosts watching from the shadows. "C'mon, honey, it was just a thing."
-
"Okay, fine. I wanted to see if she was really your friend, so I wanted to see if I could manipulate her into kissing me if I told her a sob story about how dark and angsty my life was. It was pretty good, too, but I think it spooked her. So she's got more sense than I gave her credit for, you know?" He caught the look in her eye and added, "So really, I learned my lesson there already....?"
-
Jack folded his arms and gave her a cross look. "I'm not going to tell you that. You're already angry with me. You'll just...just take it the wrong way!" He kept his voice in a loud stage whisper, not wanting to frighten the sleeping boy. "Besides, it wasn't that bad. I just wanted to make sure she was really your friend, and it turned out she was."

"Well I assumed she knew! I mean she and Wesley broke up around then, I assumed that was because she'd heard the story. I mean it was months ago!" He threw up his hands, then admitted, "I did mention his name, but I'm not sure she heard me, what with the screaming and all." Shifting in his seat, he added, "Well, maybe it technically was a cemetery, but it was a nice one! That veteran's cemetery in the Fens where she first got involved with our big transdimensional case...I thought she'd appreciate that!"
