Date: June 2010 A few days before Avenger returned to the Interceptors' brownstone, the telephone rang at the Espadas apartment during one of those times Erik was there. Ellie picked it up and after a short, "Yes, he's here. May I say who's calling please?" exchange, handed the phone to her brother with an eyeroll. "For you." The voice on the other end was warm, friendly, and very familiar. "Hey, Erik. It's Jack. Taylor and I wanted to meet with you and make sure we had the ground rules in place for the game over the weekend. Are you busy now, or should we get together another time?"

"You're going to be our doctor for the next while," Jack assured Viktor. "There really isn't anyone else we trust. Or anyone we could trust...between one thing and another." Turning to James, he added, "You did great work out there, Hellion." Walking over with the baby, he added, "Look at this guy. Isn't he great?" That earned him a loud wail, but one Jack was soon working to soothe. "Poor little guy, what a hard day's night..."

The descriptor for all of Mark's powers is magic, given his genetic heritage. I'm keeping the Fortune Control and Area Blast intact in Mark's reality warping array, since they're his 'signature ' abilities. Please replace his other ranks as follows. Blast 13 (Extras: Autofire (2)) (PFs: Improved Crit, Power Attack, Precise, Reversible) (56 pp) Create Object 13 (Extras: Duration-[Continous], Moveable) (PFs: Innate, Precise, Progression, Subtle) (56 pp) Move Object 13 (Heavy Load: 100 tons) (Extras: Damaging, Perception Range) (PFs: Indirectx3, Subtle) (56 pp) Transform 9 (inanimate to inanimate) (500 lbs) (Extra: Duration-[Continous]) (PFs: Innate, Reversible) (56 pp) His "Move Object" is actually a reworking of Attack Teleport/Create Object, producing similar effects. In addition, I'd like for the following edits to be performed with Edge's ability scores: Reduce his Wisdom to 8, because it's Mark. This frees up six points. Spend an additional three points on his Will save to raise it to +7. (3 pp) Spend 2 PP on his INT, raising it to 12. Spend the point that frees up on Mark's Notice, raising it to 8 (+7) DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN

I've gotten some complaints about Edge being too powerful. Shaen, can you help me out?

Mark spends an HP to power-stunt this: Create Object 13 (Extras: Affects Others) (Flaw: Feedback) (PFs: Progression 20 (10 million feet cubes), Tether)

"A mirror, a mirror, oh man..." Edge concentrated, thinking hard, squeezing his eyes shut as he summoned a mental image of a powerful, strong mirror like he'd seen on pictures of the Lighthouse or solar power arrays. But just he opened his eyes, he happened to catch sight of a lost Mylar balloon drifting by overhead, its HAPPY BIRTHDAY message just visible at extreme altitude. "No, wait!" Before Mark could stop himself, something remarkable happened. A gigantic thing began forming in the air over the city, a growing, towering cylinder as wide as the beam and more, stretching way, way up into the clouds, then past the clouds, then vanishing up into the stratosphere, a gigantic monument to Mark's magnificent powers that was larger than anything anyone had ever seen. It was a Mylar balloon, as shiny and reflective as if it was brand-new, but bearing the bold words HAPPY BIRTHDAY! in letters big enough to be read from the Moon. A string as wide as a ship's anchor cable came tumbling down, landing next to Erin and Mark. "That...okay, I guess that'll do it," said Mark, staring up at his creation with bafflement. "Yeah, that'll be tough enough! Use that! Quick!"

Despite the deep depression he'd fallen into after his father's departure, Mark was still loyally making regular visits to the Young Freedom headquarters, and so he was down in the monitor room with the others, sitting alone in front of a computer, when the alarms went off. "Oh my God," he said, appalled, his black funk forgotten. Standing and addressing the others, he said, "We've got to do something! Phalanx, Psyche, can you catch that plane? Wander and Zephyr, maybe we can get out and do something about that beam?"

"Because," said Freedom Angel with great patience and utter sincerity, "those works were crafted in love and meant for the ages. To steal them from their rightful owners and deny the world a chance to appreciate the beauty and passion carved into their every fiber is a sin against the joys and sorrows of those men and women long past. Don't let their light fall into the darkness of crime and corruption." He offered her his hand without hesitation. "Come with us."
-
"She's fast on her feet and doesn't hesitate to go in for the kill. If I hadn't jerked back, she'd have taken off my head. I think she's a good choice, assuming her references pan out." Jack shrugged. "I'd like to talk to some other kids, though, just so we have spares and backups handy in case something happens with this one. You really can't be too careful."
-
"We stop every monster before they get here," said Edge simply. "We protect the hospital. If you can keep the sky clear, I can make sure that nothing gets close on the ground. You should probably, uh, listen to Wander, she's got a lot better plans about this than I do. I'm just going to blow up every bad guy I can see, and most of the ones I can't."
-
"That's not necessary," said Freedom Angel with the patience of a saint. "I know very little about theft and burglary, and I doubt Divine is any better at that sort of skilled task. If you assist us, you can greatly assist our efforts to catch the real thieves and return those artifacts." He nodded. "The smiths who crafted those gold necklaces did so in the name of those they loved. We owe them the respect and dignity of returning their work to their rightful owners."
-
"So long," said Jack cordially, playing it cool now that Erin was leaving. "I appreciate all the hard work you put in for this," he added, rubbing his aching jaw reflectively. "You've certainly given us both a lot to think about. Say hello to James for us when you see him."
-
"We do prefer that our students use codenames when in the field," Summers confirmed, "to protect the privacy of their families. What I was saying when Wander came in, Fulcrum, is that I'd prefer you do as much of your work one-on-one with Wander as possible. Wander already has extensive experience in team situations: what's going to work best for her is seeing an adult with training in the use of her strength in action." He studied them both for a moment, then added, "Why don't you start by telling each other a little something about yourselves? Be as open as you like," he added significantly.
-
"Oh." Freedom Angel put his sword away, looking embarrassed. "My apologies, then. So what were you doing on the roof?" he asked, frowning a little. "Were you looking for the thieves as well?" He shot a look at the Olympian nearby, furrowing his eyebrows, before focusing again on the evidently innocent thief. Well, perhaps he'd been mistaken all along!
-
"I will not raise my hand against one who has not raised hers against another," replied the angel. "But your crimes are well-known even beyond the Gates of Pearl. Will you not surrender now, before once again you are forced to sin against the laws of Man and the love of the Creator? Put aside crimes against property and embrace the true love of the heart."
-
Freedom Angel appeared over the museum in a blaze of glory, having been in consultation with the American Cathedral Restoration Project in the basement and been close enough to hear the alarms. Recognizing Bombshell, a famous thief whose exploits were known even in Heaven, the angel of Freedom pointed his blazing sword at the notorious criminal and called "Natalya Browning! In Heaven's name, surrender to divine justice!"

"Ow." Avenger's eyes turned red for a moment, but after a moment he shook his head and was back to himself. "Nicely done, Erin," he said, offering her his hand. "Taylor will make the final decision, but you've passed my part of the test with flying colors." He smiled, trying to cover up how much his jaw hurt. He hadn't quite been expecting that. "I'll just be an observer, then."
-
Jack considered his wife's words carefully. She made a good point, but on the other hand, if she was just a kid, she'd hardly be worth watching their son. She'd have to be able to defend herself, and him, with as much skill and power as she could muster. "Fair enough." Jack looked at Erin and said, "Erin, I'm going to attack you now." And so he did, jumping up in the air and launching a spinning kick at her face.
-
There was a noticeable pause between the two women before the door Erin had entered through opened. Jack entered, a big smile on his face. "Hey, are my ears burning? Hi, you two!" He grinned and walked over, planting a kiss on Taylor's cheek. "I remember you," he commented to Erin. "So you're interested in keeping an eye on my son? How fast are your reflexes?"

"Jasmine Summers saved my life from the consequences of a moment's carelessness. And in that moment, she showed me how far one person can go on behalf of another. Whether that's her husband...or her daughter. Jasmine Summers was my wife, Christopher. She was my...Lizzie." He sighed, ever so quietly, and said, "You've had a long day, Geckoman. Go home to your family."

"The grass was never that high before," murmured Mark, concentrating on the lawn carefully. An odd thing happened as he did so; those black, spiraling ink dots of his came spinning out and swept across the lawn, cutting so closely that a faint puff of newly fallen grass fell as his power faded and the lawn was left cut shiny and new, so smooth it looked like a machine had done. It didn't do much to make the house smile, but it did make Mark smile a little. "Maybe my mom will be happier now," he said, almost to himself. "Thank you, Fleur."

"Hm," said Avenger, a smile on his face as he hung up the phone. "He's smarter than he looks. Good for him, he seemed like the most professional of the bunch." Standing up and popping his back, he pulled his costume on and studied the Brownstone from his perch several rooftops away. "Was going to tell him that there weren't any hard feelings about anything they pulled tonight, if the reverse is true. Hope it still is..."
