  1. "Hey, Fulcrum. How's the old horsehead?" he asked obliquely, with the easy calm of someone not surrounded by several very powerful, very angry people. "I came here, doing some sub-contracting for a friend of all of yours," said Avenger, making a great show of popping his back, "to test the security of your house. Anyway, it needs some work. You guys are pretty good; I'd say you're about even with Freedom Hall, but you've got some weaknesses. If you still need to talk, I can go hang out upstairs and show you later?" He shrugged casually.
  2. When James brought up the Bank of Freedom, the teen heroes watched a remarkable scene play out, too fast to intervene. The Freedom League had evidently arrived to subdue the armored madman in the bank; the League's lineup made up of all its greatest heroes of the past like Sea-King the avenging monarch of Atlantis, Galatea the robotic champion of justice, and the first Lady Liberty, the one who'd fought in World War II. Though the Centurion was supposedly alive in this world, evidently he wasn't with the League today. The teens were surprised to recognize the man in the armor: Dr. Mayhem being a supervillain they all knew from their world. Mayhem was a crazy man, a deranged temporal refugee from an alternate present he'd helped destroy. He looked equally crazy here, being dragged into the back of a police paddywagon by Lady Liberty and Galatea, his armor broken as he ranted, "You fools! You fools, it's all changed! It's all changed AGAIN! If you don't do something, you're-" They tossed him into the back of the pitch-black wagon, and though the sensors in Hell-Ion's ship picked up nothing unusual, the teens all watched as the darkness around Mayhem dissolved briefly into all-too-familiar inky-black dots before the man disappeared entirely. The door behind him slammed shut with an awful finality.
  3. Sage was at Claremont High, backstage amid a frantic bustle of patriotic bunting and music. It was Memorial Day, and Claremont High was going to celebrate in the most all-American style possible. As the attendants helped wrap her in an American-flag cut dress, one of them told her, "Eve, I haven't seen Chris yet, but his mother and father are out in the audience. I'm sure he wouldn't miss your patriotic recital; you know how all-American he is!" - Meanwhile the all-American Chris Kenzie had just punched her girlfriend in the face, sending her staggering and nearly falling off her broom. "Oow!" She flew up and away from his fist, circling again out of reach. "You...you're not supposed to _hit_ me!" She looked appalled, hand on her chin. "You...you brute!" She glared at him. "You're not the Raven at all, are you!? You're just a cheap imposture!"
  4. Give us the voice of VINCE!
  5. Just for fun, since (of course?) we won't be getting into combat, Avenger is down to 1 HP, having spent the rest on Ultimate Stealth.
  6. Stupid humans and their autonomic responses to stress. With a deep sigh, Avenger took off his mask and squeezed it, juice dripping between his fingers. What the hell, Grimalkin would surely tell them all anyway. His voice maskless was, as usual, very different than the way he talked, and carried himself, with the mask on. "You didn't ask me that, Lynn. I've been here most of the night. And the day, I wanted to see if I could get in with the sun up." Despite himself, he smiled, just a little. "And I can. Anyway, would you rather I just have snuck around while you slept and not told anyone?" He shrugged, already rising to his feet. "I don't know about you, but that seems more dangerous."
  7. DC 24 Sense Motive to tell she's faking, KC and Ry. DC 35 Tou, Darius. Have an HP.
  8. "I could tell you all about how the true Aryan peoples were murdered by your filthy, backstabbing ancestors...but I don't think a woman like you would understand," taunted the flame-clad monster, a moment before he smashed his fist into the bridge of her nose. "Fall, filthy scum! I'll fly your cape over my headquarters as a token of VICTORY!"
  9. " Kid Cthulu's blast of eldritch energy knocked Valkyrie down in the middle of her rant, sending her tumbling to the floor amid the hostages and her swastika-emblazoned dagger hurling away. She was down, or so it seemed, much to the celebration of the hostages!
  10. "It's Hell-Ion! The handsomest prince of space!" James noticed that all the ladies besides 'Wander' were doing something best-described as simpering, and she was blushing pink. "I mean, Hell-Ion, it's sooo good to see you!" She put her hand on James' arm, giving him a big smile. She looked from James to Trevor, a worried look on her face. "Oh, didn't you switch costumes too? I thought it was a day where we switched our costumes, like back when we fought those gangsters on the baseball field!" She gave them both a a bright look. "It's good to see the two of you together again."
  11. That hits and she's bruised and stunned. Go ahead and post IC, Ecal
  12. He's fast. Have to watch that. They all are. He debated the relative merits of dishonesty and decided to tell his fellow heroes the truth. Well, sort of. "Just doing some sub-contracting. Thought it rude to leave without letting know I was here." He raised his leather gloved hands. "All on same team, yes? Or close to it. Even came when you are all here, so none could feel awkward."
  13. The thread where everyone will probably get mad at Avenger for some reason.
  14. Date: June 2010 The monthly Interceptors meeting had gone well enough, for all that no one on the team cared overmuch about the business side of things. What really mattered was that their financing was going well, their publicity was at an all-time high, and in the wake of the Grue invasion, things were going very well indeed for the defenders of West Freedom. Avenger had been bored through most of it, though he'd missed a couple of minutes to slip away and take calls from Phantom from that other dimension. Getting her and Jack Jr. out of the house but for their daily visits had been the right safety precaution after Dracula's attack, but it had given him free time: perhaps too much free time. You know what they say about idle hands... When he'd approached Dr. Archeville about testing the brownstone's security for him, he'd originally only planned to stay a couple of hours, but truthfully the sheer excitement of the moment had kept him around longer than he'd intended. It beat looking at a barely-used nursery. Wonder if that means he'll pay me more...or _less_? Truthfully, maybe lurking around the Casa del Interceptor for a whole day and a night had been a little unethical. For Avenger, at least, it was really hard to sort out what was and what wasn't the right thing to do when it came to matters of privacy and watching people at night while they slept. He decided to split the difference and just let them know. Don't need to tell them who I'm working for, I guess. Appearing in one of the empty seats at the table just as the meeting was wrapping up, Avenger waved. "Evening. Just popped in to let you know you need to fix your security systems. I'd recommend something that can monitor air movements."
  15. "Hmm." Wander and Lukos, the closest thing to predators in the room besides Avenger, saw his hands clench at the arms of the seat beneath him. He cocked his head and looked over at Thomas, something absolutely flat in his eyes. Lukos had plenty of experience dealing with people with rage and hunger and a beast inside them, but looking at a vampire wasn't like looking at a wolf. It was more like looking at a...shark. "I wasn't aware that was something that concerned you people. That's good to know, I suppose. Your pardon for ignoring you earlier, I was concerned about the welfare of my friend given the particular...circumstances." He shrugged slightly, not quite looking at Wander. "I'm sure you people understand loyalty like that."
  16. The mist suddenly coalesced into a human shape, a dark-clad figure moving quickly for Lukos! The werewolf snapped his mighty jaws and swiped his terrible claws, but Avenger moved with blinding speed, smashing his fist into Lukos' ribs with a blow that nearly doubled him over. "Very powerful wolf," conceded Avenger, his harsh, grating voice a scrape against sensitive ears. "Show you lesson I have taught many powerful werewolves." And with that, he smashed the heel of his hand directly against Lukos' sensitive snout, about as dirty a blow as you could use when fighting a werewolf. "Power is not your fangs. Or your rage. Power is." He met Lukos' eyes and risked something. "Ambassador of your people now. Show them how a werewolf fights." And with that, again, he vanished.
  17. Quote, (I think) Lukos wasn't flat-footed the second time Avenger hit him, so Avenger didn't get the +2 from Sneak Attack. Result's the same either way with how you rolled, but I didn't want you to think I was gaslighting you.
  18. "Oh! Kid Midnight!" Wander still had pink in her cheeks. "Rednaw was here, up to her usual crazy bizarro tricks! But Hell-Ion beamed her up onto his flying saucer, so I'm sure he'll send her back to Bizarro-World." She smiled at Trevor, and he realized all the girls were giving him the eye, if the other three a bit more covertly than Wander was. "It's so nice you came, though." She reached over and put her hand on his, a sneaky smile on her innocent face. "Does that mean you really care?"
  19. "Gecko Man is my love! Gecko Man is...my life!" The second Spellbound in line cackled wickedly and hurled an barrage of fireballs that whipped past the Raven's head on either side of the nimbly-dodging champion of justice! " As her 'sisters' merged with her, Spellbound declared, "Gecko Man is the man who will make the Raven stop hounding me!" She swooped down before the Raven, a mad look in her eye. "You're not so bad," she told him. "I think we could be close, if you just took off that silly mask, and did away with your silly notions of justice." - "Time to BAT-HER-UP!" A moment before the manic Wander could swing her bat at her counterpart, the misplaced Wander vanished in a flash of brilliant energy. With a look of great confusion on her face, Wander looked up at the sky. Clearly visible on Hell-Ion's space-monitoring TV visor set, powered by the sheer power of _three dimensions_, the local Wander blushed and said out loud, "Oh my, that must have been Hell-Ion, the handsomest prince of space!" She put her hand on her cheek and said, "Oh, why won't he beam down a kiss for me?" - Acting on his body's instincts, Trevor activated the Night Cycle to full Atomo-Power, and was soon roaring into the air on a black column of clean, efficient atomo-radiation! The great machine roaring between his legs, he zoomed through the clear blue sky with nary a bug in sight, his sheer piloting prowess letting him stay in the air as the jet-clocks behind him guided him through the sky. He saw the two Wanders down below at Freedom Hall, and arrived just as one vanished into the sky and three new faces came running up behind the other one. "It's Kid Midnight!" one called, "He'll help us!"
  20. Your feat, your choice when to use it! Avenger does tend to bring that out even in people who like him... EDIT: OK, here's what Avenger's going to do: Avenger spends an HP to double his dodge bonus for a round, raising the DC to hit him to 31. (24+7=31) He then drop his Insubstantial and Power Attacks Lukos. Not a great roll-that said, 22 still hits Lukos's flat-footed Defense. DC 30 Tou save. He'll spend an HP to surge without fatigue and Power Attack again. Oof, critical hit! DC 33 Tou save, thanks to the crit. He'll then use his move action to go Insubstantial again. Is your readied action going to interfere with that? (i.e.; did you jump out of the way, make a successful counter-attack?) Either way, lemme know and I'll post IC.
  21. "Phantom is my wife," said Avenger, relaxing a little when he caught the half-familiar name. "Ah, I think Hellion's mentioned you to me." Only in the most general of terms, though, which told him nothing more than that this was a powerful girl. Of course, he'd known that already. "He's worked with Phantom and I on some magical cases. "
  22. Avenger repressed a wince as he watched Dynamo bringing back the deranged teenager with the penchant for decapitating undead. Well, this has all the potential to be really quite awkward. Figuring that he might as well make some friends, he left Anderson to keep an eye out and sidled over there himself. "Hello," he said cautiously, "I don't think I caught your name earlier."
  23. Bruised and Stunned Rycon, take your HP back, as I'll fiat she shakes her stun this turn. KC, since you two are acting simultaneously, you're up.
  24. "So you want to see _me_, do you, kid crusader?" He heard a high-pitched laugh; Liz's, but reflected through a funhouse mirror, like something out of Wizard of Oz. Of course, because that was how Spellbound laughed when you broke into her lair. "Well, first you should step into my parlor!" And with a flash of smoke and pretty lights, no less than three Spellbounds appeared in the air above him, circling him on humming brooms. "A lady shouldn't admit uninvited guests, but fortunately, I'm no lady! Hahahahahaha!"
