  1. Okay, let's call this a nice juicy rank 10 Explosion. That's a DC 20 Reflex save for everyone near the warehouse. The thugs inside the warehouse are out; even if they make the save, they'll take so much damage that they'll be out of the fight. Positron makes his save too. He easily passes the relevant Toughness save Outside...Avenger makes his save. And the thugs outside are down or fled.
  2. Editing Avenger's sheet: Remember to note that he does currently have Impervious 14. That's Distract (Intimidate). Add wood to the list of things that surpass Avenger's Impervious Toughness. (Blessed/Fire/Holy/Magic/Silver/Wood [piercing]) Replace his existing wood drawback with the following: Vulnerability (Fire, Frequency: Common, Intensity: Moderate [150% DC]) [3PP] Vulnerability (Silver, Frequency: Uncommon, Intensity: Moderate [150% DC]) [2PP] Vulnerability (Piercing Wood, Frequency: Uncommon, Intensity: Moderate [150% DC]) [2PP] Spend the new 4 points on his array as follows: (note that there is some reworking being done here; this is the correct version. Terrifying Vampiric Array of the Undead 13pp + 9 APs=22pp BE: Concealment 10 (all senses) (PF: Close Range) (Flaws: Phantasm); Extra: Linked Flight 1 [10 MPH]: PFs: Subtle] [Drawback] [13 pp]] AP: Vampiric on Unarmed Damage 8 (Bite) (PFs: Improved Critical 2, Incurable, Precise, Reversible) [13pp] AP: Insubstantial 2 (gaseous; (PF: Subtle]; Extra: Linked Flight 1 [[10 mph] PF: Subtle; Drawback: Not during daylight]) [13 pp] AP: Drain Constitution 3 Extra: Insidious, Flaws: Requires Grapple LINKED Emotion Control 14 Extras: Insidious, Flaws: Limited to love, Range 2 [touch], Requires Grapple) (PFs: Mind Blank, Subtle) [11pp] AP: Drain Constitution 3 (Extras: Insidious, Flaws: Requires Grapple) LINKED Mind Reading 14 PF: Subtle (Flaws: Limited [Probe], Range 2 [Touch], Requires Grapple) LINKED Super-Senses 4 ([Postcognition, Flaws: Medium [blood]) [11 PP] AP: Drain Constitution 14 (blood drain, Flaws: Requires Grapple) ([PFs] Reversible, Precise, Slow Fadex4 (1 hour), [13pp] AP: Mind Control 14 (PFs: Mental Link, Subtle), Extras: Conscious, Duration [sustained], Flaws: Action [Full], Distracting, Sense-Dependent [Visual]), Unreliable [5 uses a day] [9pp] AP: Concealment 4 (All Visual/Auditory/Olfactory Senses, (PF: Close Range) Flaws: Limited [While Moving]; [5PP] and Speed 8 (Drawback: Not during daylight) [7PP])- Speed of the Dead [13pp] AP: Obscure 4 (Summoned Bat/Rat Swarm, 1 mile, All Senses, PF: Slow Fade [1PP/one minutes], Drawbacks: [Not during daylight hours], Extras: Independent, Total Fade, Flaws: Action [Full], Range [Touch]) and Immunity 1 (own powers) [13 pp] AP: Morph 6 (animals) (Flaw: Nocturnal Animals Only) (PFs: Covers Scent, Precise) LINKED: Flight 2 (25 MPH) and Leaping 1 (x2) and Speed 1 (10 MPH) [Drawback: Not during daylight] [13pp] Note that he has a +32 Disguise bonus with Morph. He can't shrink or grow while Morphing, so he's most likely to turn into a wolf: he'd be a pretty noticeable six-foot bat! DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN
  3. Numbers look good. Have you thought about Agile Climber (which lets her climb with her Dex) or Grappling Finesse (which lets her grapple with her Dex and not be flat-footed while grappling)?
  4. I'm just going to say that these PL 2 thugs are no obstacle for Avenger and Jack of Blades. The real challenge comes in a bit.
  5. It was easy to see what was going on below, the thugs weren't bothering to conceal themselves in the slightest. The offices on the second floor behind Jack were lit up, though empty, and he could see where the thugs had been storing Max as a precaution against ground-level interlopers. The stocks here were impressive; either they'd been at work here for quite a while, or were using the warehouse as a storage depot for regional Max distribution. Either way, they needed to be stopped! Peering past the cargo hook controls, he saw one sight below that told him this might not be a typical bust. Sitting among the other men still in the warehouse, looking up from his poker game with a look of irritation, sat an odd-looking man in a strangely bulking suit and tie, his body just humming with electrical energy that Jack of Blades could feel tingling along his sensitive skin. Outside, Avenger moved among the thugs like a wolf among sheep. He used the crowbar, the better to hide just how strong he really was, and gave an evil laugh as he tore through six armed, wary men, hurling them to and fro and breaking their bones like ice on a spring day. soon the sound of men screaming and bones breaking echoed into the warehouse. He let one of the half-dozen men outside make it back into the warehouse, a look of terror on his face at having watched the demolition of his fellows. "It's...it's HIM!"
  6. Avenger is easily strong enough, especially with the crowbar, to Power Attack his way through tires without having to roll.
  7. From his position on the roof, even through the driving rain, Jack could make out several possible ways into the warehouse. The windows and doors were all old enough that he could break through them easily, but doing so might alert the guards if he wasn't careful. The skylight was closed, but the hinges were free from the rust on the rest of the building. He could probably get in and out there without making a lot of noise, and peering through he could see a second-floor catwalk through the filthy glass. For his part, Avenger seriously considered abandoning the pursuit at the sight of Jack of Blades. Not out of any dislike for the man, but because he was keenly aware of the insult that trespassing on someone else's territory would represent. Ultimately, though, his hatred for Max kept him there, as did his desire to cooperate with other heroes. He chose to go around the rear of the building, where he found the cars and trucks that the thugs who worked in the building had left behind. Scooping up a discarded crowbar, he moved with methodical efficiency, raking the hardened steel through the tires and puncturing them. As he'd hoped, it made a mighty racket, enough that the warehouse rear door flew open as he ducked into the shadows behind a big panel truck, the men inside cursing as they went to investigate the noise. Into the dark, and the cold rain, where he'd be waiting for them.
  8. Jack and Jack together again for the very first time.
  9. (a week before the birth of Jack's son) West End was a good neighborhood, usually, but it had its dark spots. The shadow of the old waste recycling plant, closed a few years ago for urban renewal purposes, had left a block of empty warehouses along Miller Avenue. From the outside, the battered old brick industrial warhorse at 4686 looked just like plenty of the run-down former industrial warehouses in the area: windows covered or boarded up, brick and concrete walls covered with daring gang tags and the vandalism of neighborhood hoodlums. It was dark outside, and it was raining, the lightning overhead reflecting off the spattering drops in flash after flash of light. The rain was an obstacle, but the darkness of the night (and the broken streetlights) was nothing to Avenger's eyes. He had experience with people hiding secret facilities, after all. A faint light leaked out around the window coverings and fresh marks showed the doors had been opened recently. He'd learned from a contact in Freedom's medical business that 'they' were making max here, and in gigantic quantities. Jack hated the stuff. He hated the memories of the rush of addiction, he hated the feeling of false bravado, and he hated the memory of being a weak, helpless addict. He was going to break these people in two.
  10. If Phalanx doesn't hit, Mark spends an HP to let him reroll.
  11. "I, uh, don't think I can go out tonight," Mark was telling Faith apologetically as he rounded the bend with her. "I mean, I've got a lot I need to take care of with my classes before summer break starts. I'm trying to write that manual for...oh hey, new people!" He waved to the two new faces, a cheerful look on his face. Whew. "I haven't seen you before. I'm Mark, and this is my girlfriend Faith."
  12. "Hey guys!" said Mark, walking over with a cheerful wave and big smile. The tall, solidly built boy had the charismatic good looks of a film star as he wrapped his arm around Faith's waist and gave her a quick kiss. Smiling at the others, then focusing on the new guy, he said "Hi, I'm Mark. You must be Warren." Glad to see another tall guy around, he shook his hand and said, "Welcome to Claremont. I'm your official tour guide. Just follow me and I'll show you around. You guys can come too," he added with a grin.
  13. Hi all. Recruiting now for the next world-shaping event. In the tradition of Marvel's House of M comes a story that completely reshapes the World of Freedom. But will these changes be for good, bad, or something else entirely? This story is focused most strongly around Claremont students. I've already got a couple lined up, and this is staying small. So, I'm looking for three Claremont kids. Your answer should also include a 1 or 2 word version of your character's fondest wish, i.e.; "Home" or "Family."
  14. That's a DC 35 Tou save for the crit DC 25 for the second hit (surging, and spending another HP to actually hit if necessary).
  15. Freedom Angel was knocked off balance by the horrific realization that the monster was an innocent, controlled by unknown dark force. "My friends!" he called, his voice booming loud enough to be heard by all those within the remotest possibility of earshot. "These are no fiends, but innocents in the grip of a terrible power! Treat them as such!" He focused and drew upon his inner strength, summoning a massive blade that glowed with white, holy fire, a strange counterpoint to the darkly roaring Midnight Cycle beneath him, and brought it up over his head. "Let this soul be freed!" And with that, he brought the blade down across the creature's face, a flash of divine fire scorching the sky as his blade dug deep. Summoning on heroic reserves, he followed up on the attack, striking a mighty blow to save the creature from itself.

  17. OK, now would be a good time to make with the initiative rolls. Avenger goes on 15 The Bad Guys go on 16
  18. Before Taylor could respond, a burst of machine gun fire came crashing through the big windows facing the street, the bullets ripping through Ace Danger's midsection in a shower of blood as the immortal hero staggered under the weight of volleyfire. Seconds later, there was an enormous crash from the apartment's doorway as the tough, reinforced metal shook under the onslaught of a massive explosion! The door held, barely, but was visibly pushed back from its hinges as the room plunged into a deeper darkness.
  19. "I don't know, Dead Head," said Jack, suddenly dropping Avenger's persona for a moment. "I find it's best not to speculate on the habits of my kind. Within a few centuries, nothing they do is something I want to dwell on. The immortality of someone like Daedalus or Scarab is different than what we experience. After enough human lifetimes go by, you simply aren't one anymore. And you?" he asked suddenly. "All things end, Dead Head. How do you see your road ending?"
  20. Ace, when you get the chance, that's a DC 27 Tou save. (Given the Autofire bonus for the sniper across the street.) Your Uncanny Dodge is in play, so you're not flat-footed. Go ahead and post that here, and I'll post the results.
  21. "It, well..." Frank looked uncomfortable for a moment, then said, "Well, actually, yes. I suppose I can tell you all," he said, looking at the assembled heroes, "because you're all heroes. This was supposed to be part of an emergency defense mechanism in case of another Grue invasion, like the one we had a couple of years ago. With the push of a button, you could cancel any telepathic signal on the planet." He sighed. "But now all that's going to take months to fix. I'm just glad you were able to save it at all. I can't believe someone would try and pervert this, it would take someone as smart as Daedalus to do it."
  22. How we doing here, guys?
