  1. Avenger and Dead Head rock out.
  2. Date: April ??, 2010. After The Dragon Wakes and This Woman's Work. The cemetery was a Gothic place of the old school, full of massive marble funerary monuments to the long-dead grandees of Freedom City's past. Heedless of respecting the dead, Avenger perched like a black falcon atop the mausoleum of the Wading family as the cold winds of an April night blew in off the Atlantic, waiting for his contact to arrive. This cemetery was about to be the center of a very nasty occult ritual, if his sources were right, but he and Dead Head were going to put a stop to that. Or so he hoped.
  3. "No, I mean, I fell down before..." Mark carefully, gingerly stood up, leaning on Faith as he did so. He looked a little beaten up, but not particularly worse for wear. "And I've been hurt worse than this in super-battles. But that was...that was just so scary. I mean, it wasn't for a reason, or anything, I just...I just fell down!" He shook his head, looking at the others, not seeing much understanding there. "I'll be okay. Let's go play ball, all right?"
  4. The door snapped open, just as Trevor hoped, disgorging a hard-eyed Tess Atom and a frightened civilian, a young man with short dreads and a Comets jersey on. "We were on our way to a game when Gamma jumped us," said the simulated Atom sibling. "What's the situation?" she asked brusquely.
  5. Mark gave Alex an easy-going wave. "Hey, Alex! We were just showing Trevor around. He's new to the school." Grinning, he added, "I think he's going to be hanging out with us, amirite? He's a guy who knows how to appreciate the quality, and if there's anything we need, it's quality."
  6. "Then go in peace, my friend, and do the work of justice and redemption tonight." He fixed his eyes on Arrowhawk and said simply, "Whatever doubts men have had of your nature, you are a man committed to justice for the wicked. Make sure you remember that justice comes from more than arrow and staff, even in the hands of a righteous man." And with that, in a flare of divine light, he was gone.
  7. "Hah," said Avenger, without laughing. He walked over to Stesha's broken, fragile body, and gently scooped it up against his chest, the roots on her skin immediately sticking to his in a way that hopefully wouldn't last long. "Well, how about that? We're going to the mushroom garden in the basement," he said. "I'll be right back." And with that, he vanished.
  8. I'd like to drop environmental conditions from Freedom Angel's Immunities. That'll leave him with Immunity 6 (aging, disease, poison, starvation and thirst, suffocation) I'd like to spend the other six points as follows: Light Control 2 (10 feet) (Flaw Touch Range) for 2 pts The following APs should be added to his Angelic Array for 4 points: Create Object 3 (Extra: Continuous) (PFs: Innate) "The Power of Creation" Enhanced Feats: Fearsome Presence 10 "Divine Fury" Mind Control 10 (Flaw: Sense-Dependent: [Hearing]) "The Voice of Heaven" Teleport 9 (Flaw: Long Range Only) (PF: Progression 1 (250 lbs) "Divine Speed" DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN
  9. Hmm, I'd rather not be Someplace Else with both my characters. Especially given Avenger and Freedom Angel's feelings for each other! Maybe if FA is in the West End, since he lives in Lantern Hill?
  10. "Hey, the food here isn't that bad," said Mark, chewing on the poutine and hamburger mix that was one of his favorite ethnic foods. "I mean, it's a little weird sometimes, but we've got students from many lands. Aw man, last year, we had International Food Day, that was freaking sweet. Until Ultiteen made her souffle. It turns out her people, wherever she's from, they don't normally eat much, so her souffle was...I don't know. It was some sort of thing." He made an inarticulate gesture with his hands, then shrugged. "Have you guys seen Faith lately?"
  11. Mark felt very good, but he was also very tired and not a little sore. It had been quite an evening. "Maybe help me get back to the top?" he asked her with a little smile. "That was a lot of fun, but it was a little exhausting too. I'm sure I'll be better tomorrow after I get a chance to sleep." Sleep sounded really good right now. And maybe a shower.
  12. Wander didn't just knock Gamma down, she knocked him off his feet and away from the plane! Smashing face first into a nearby building, Gamma staggered back, hand on the back of his neck. "Owww! That hurt!" Obviously hurt, he turned and faced the two teens as he declared, "I'm going to punish all of you for that! You too, no-face!" He fired a blast of radiation at the teens who'd hurt him so badly, the shrieking green beam seeming to scorch the very air as it rocketed towards Midnight.
  13. He is bruised! That's a crit, Wander. His Aura only does 4 damage by Ultimate Power rules, so your impervious will block that even with the Crit. DC 34 Tou. Midnight is up
  14. "Ow!" Gamma staggered beneath the blow, the tip of Wander's bat briefly glowing red as she pulled it back. If she left it in there too long, the radiation coming off Gamma just might melt it! "You big bully!" the hulking radioactive monstrosity spat at her. "This is all your fault! All you stupid heroes! But I'll get you!" He drew back his green glowing fist and hurled a massive punch at Wander, one that connected solidly with her mid-section.
  15. A disconsolate Mark looked up at the stairs, his eyes wide and his head bloody. "I fell down," he said again, looking a little frightened. "It was really scary, and it hurt. That's never happened before. I mean, I just...I just tripped, and I went down! Ouch!"
  16. "We'll be there right away. Soon as we're dressed," Jack amended. "I'll talk to you then." He hung up the phone and stared at Taylor for a moment, then hugged her, putting his arms around her and resting his hand on her stomach. "Dr. Archeville says he's okay." Jack fought back tears. "He's...he's fine. He's really fine. He's got a little magic in him or something that he wants to talk to you about, but nothing vampire. Oh God, Taylor, I didn't kill our baby!"
  17. 10 Wander Gamma Midnight Wander is up
  18. Within just a couple of days after Mr. Summers' departure arrived at Blake's house, the paperwork and the representative from the school arrived. Everything had been worked out, said Janice, the smiling young lawyer, to Blake and his uncle. "Now that the financial aid has been put in place, you can start at Claremont first thing Monday." It soon became clear that Blake's uncle was heartily glad to see the back of him, the man was eager to help him pack. "Just think of all the fun you'll have on campus!" he said the night before Blake's departure.
  19. A little subdued, Mark followed the others out of the building, for once letting other people take the lead. "I'll join you guys," he said to Mike and Erin, "baseball sounds pretty fun. I mean, I might-woah!" Mark put one foot on the building's steps and fell, tripping over his feet as he tumbled down the stairs and landed face first on the sidewalk below. He was dead silent for a moment before he said in a low, pained voice. "Ow...ow, that really hurt..."
  20. Mark led Trevor on a walk around campus, taking things a little more seriously now that he'd had the disquieting thought that the first Midnight must be dead. After all, Travis Hunter had been older than Mark's grandpa Jimmy, who'd died well before Mark had even been born. He must have inherited his grandpa's legacy, poor guy. "Most of the super-stuff is underground. You've already met with Mr. Summers and the psych people, right?" he asked casually.
  21. Suddenly, the two heroes heard a terrible crash from over their heads! Looking up, the two teen titans spotted a small plane in the process of crashing to the ground in the blocked-off street in front of them. It didn't take them long to recognize the Atomcar, the flying craft the Atom Family used to get around when they were out of the Nucleus, or recognize the green-skinned hulking figure pounding at the windows. Gamma, the Atom-Smasher, was in full rage, his body glowing with radioactive power. "I'll kill you!" he yelled as the plane hit the ground. "I'll kill you, then find your mommy and daddy's graves and kill them too!"
  22. "Man's power is great. But so is his power to sin." Freedom Angel looked Arrowhawk over and suggested, "I've only partnered with a superhero once before. I would like to join you in the South Side." As he spoke, a flaming sword shimmered into life in his hand, the blade glowing with the pure, white flame of truth. "Those who see me will repent...or else assume simply that because they've seen one champion of justice, that they've seen all of them."
  23. Jack hugged Taylor gently, then looked over at Stesha's dead body. "We need to bury her," he said quietly, "before we do anything else. Dark Star may be far away, and Stesha deserves something better." He rubbed his eyes. "I know a funeral director who can make all the arrangements. But someone should probably talk to her family while all that's going on."
  24. "Come with us, and I shall tell you a tale!" Mark threw his arm around Trevor's shoulders like they were boon companions. "Are you in the Kord Dorm?" he asked. "It's pretty sweet in there, that's where most of us hang out. We can go through there, see if anyone's hanging out...or we can hit the ball field, see if you've got any moves, or maybe one of the classrooms so you can see Claremont in action." He blinked, and suddenly looked more serious as a thought crossed his mind. He took his arm off Trevor's shoulders and added, "Unless, uh, you want to do things more quietly. Under the circumstances."
