  1. Geckoman (and Edge) are successful. Phalanx is up. Durf, Phalanx is close enough to throw the gun in the volcano without having to spend a move action.
  2. She's down. Freedom Angel power-stunts Teleport (i.e.; Divine Speed) off his sword. Ace Danger is up.
  3. Dark Star's opponent gave a sharp scream as his blast of radiation struck her across the midsection, her body twisting in mid-air as she plummeted towards the Earth, the crate falling from her insensate fingers. Back at the lab, watching intently, Dr. Frank shouted "Don't let that crate hit the ground! If the transmitter activates unshielded half the city's minds will blank!" "Then it shall not fall," said Freedom Angel, running to the open window as he spread his wings. "St. Sebastian, give me speed!" he called to the heavens, and with a sudden flash of divine light he bolted across the sky, wrapping his brawny arms around the box before it could do more than slip and tumble. He wasn't actually strong enough to support the weight, but beating his wings frantically to slow both their descents, he was able to bring the crate safely to the ground below.
  4. "It would mean an end," said Heyzel evenly. "An end to injustice, intolerance, and hatred. A world where humanity's full potential has been realized, and one where the law is to love thy neighbor as thyself. If you object to that," he went on, looking from Hellion to Wander, "then I'm sorry for you. I hope I can show you the glories of the true path." He turned and looked levelly at Hellion. "Because that path is for thee, as well, son of Paymon, son of the Prophets. Reject me all you want; I am but a symbol. Thou art already walking the true path whether thee believe it or not." To Wander, he added, "Mine mission is global. I've started in Freedom City because there are people in need here, who suffer in the midst of plenty-" He gave Hellion, in his fine clothes, a sharp look at that, before turning back to Wander. "and who need my help, even in a city full of mortals with great power. When I've learned all I can, and done what I can for the people here, I will move on elsewhere. I am not bound to one place, even one that has embraced me so fully as this church."
  5. "I was dispatched by the Archangel Gabriel, Viceroy of Heaven," said Freedom Angel to Wander, still sorting through his thoughts. "In the name of the Creator." Focusing on Hellion, he added patiently, "Despite your anger, even you recognize the truth in what I say. Righteousness does eventually prevail in the universe, though the arc of justice is exceedingly long. I am here to speed humanity's path towards the Glorious Appearing of Heaven on Earth."
  6. "Has Hell touched you for so long that all you can feel is the lick of its flames?" asked Freedom Angel sadly. "You may have the blood of the Adversary in your veins, Hellion, but Heaven's mercy is for you, too. As for the religions of the world, the Creator is not so blind as to turn away from the righteous of the world because of the name they give him and the words they use to sing his praises." Not enough to turn _them_ away, anyway. "As for the other 'pantheons' of the world, I have nothing but respect for righteous beings like Horus of Heliopolis and Baldur of the Aesir. Nevertheless, they are not gods. There is but one of those."
  7. "I...I can fly!?!" Mark gave his wings two magnificent flaps, rising into the air up and over everyone's head. His joy was uninhibited; his laughter, infectious. "I'm king of the world!" he shouted. "Look on my works ye mighty and despair! This is the best thing ever!"
  8. Wander and Steelgrave are hovering, though that may change next round when he realizes she's not letting go. Edge and Geckoman are the ones in danger of falling into the volcano.
  9. Geckoman is up, then Phalanx. Things will start hitting lava (and not taking damage before then, because it's Comic Book Science!) at count 10 on the initiative order next round. Next round, Mark goes on 23.
  10. Many things happened in the next few seconds, a cascade of events that seemed to come one after the other. Psyche's spectacular mental abilities, the equal of nearly anyone on the planet, lashed out at the cage imprisoning Mark, sending him cascading, half-conscious, covered in suspension fluid to the metal catwalk on which his tube had rested. At the same time, Hellion's hellfire swept over the Omegadrones then closing on Geckoman, incinerating them an instant before they could hurl the young daredevil into the volcano behind him. And Shadivan Steelgrave? The battered right hand of the Lord of the Terminus was at Wander's mercy, his hands spread wide apart on the metal catwalk beneath him, the man himself pinned above the metal super-structure that held the walkway, the half-built Terminus tower, and the now-three young heroes above the volcanic lake beneath them. "It seems your friends have taken my lesson from me. I'll remember that. Instead, I'll teach you how to fly." And with that, his armor gave a terrible hum, trying and failing to rise beneath Wander's grip as he levitated. But with his free hands, he fired a blast straight down, away from Erin and himself, shattering the catwalk beneath them in an explosion of magnetic energy as the black, spotted beams burst straight downward, blasting away steel and rock and sending machine, catwalk, and platform tilting precipitously down towards the lake of fire below!
  11. "An allergy, indeed," Freedom Angel quoted Wander's words from a few moments earlier. Despite his own inclinations to the contrary, the cambion didn't seem to have any particular hostile intent, beyond a brief innate reaction that Heyzel himself had frankly shared. Though he spoke to Wander, his eyes didn't waver for more than a second from the lurking figure of Hellion. "There is no God but the Creator," Freedom Angel confirmed for Wander, "and thousands of years ago the Creator walked the Earth in the form of a man to speak the Logos to Creation. As for the incident in November, the forces of righteousness prevailed, defeating the Adversary, undoing his works, and striking at his very heart. Preventing any further such incidents was one of the last impetuses for my mission."
  12. Mark blinked a few times, sussing that statement out, and whispered back with teen bravado, "Any time, any place. What did you have in mind?" He knew some people around here had very good senses, but he trusted Psyche and Phalanx implicitly not to be snooping.
  13. "It would have happened anyway," said Avenger, backing up Ace in a situation where he was too distracted to cling to petty grievances. "This is an interdimensional fugitive planning to kill a guardian of the universe. What do you think he'd do here with the rest of us dead and no one to stop him?" he asked Jack of Blades, giving him a frank look. "Better to risk embarassment now than fight Dark Star at _your_ front door, with no warning."
  14. That'll work, alder! Mark'll get ejected this round. James, nothing bad will happen to the dimensions if they drop the gun in the volcano. It's a defense system, not part of the main facility. Steelgrave and the Omegadrones go next.
  15. "I am Heaven's ambassador to the Material Plane," said Freedom Angel with great clarity, watching Hellion with the calm, poised awareness of a hunter facing off against a big cat. "An angeloi, born of Heavenly parents, in the world beyond this one." He cocked his head, giving Hellion a measured look. "You're a cambion," he said suddenly. "One of your kind was here a few weeks ago. Are you with her?"
  16. DC 21 Reflex vs. DC 26 Damage. Edge spends an HP to make the one furthest from Jack reroll his Tou save.
  17. "Robbing the bank, eh? Well, I think it's time you guys made an early WITHDRAWAL! Into prison! Let your very armor be your foe! Bwa-ha-ha!" Edge actually yelled "Bwa-ha-ha" out loud before throwing his arms wide, leaping into the center of the crowd, and exploding. A sudden typhoon of explosions rippled from the lanky teenager's body, erupting outward and ensnaring the Power Corps as their suits short-circuited, fried, and shot each other in an eruption of pure chaos that somehow did no damage whatsoever to Edge's fellow heroes, the scenery, or the civilians.
  18. "I do my best not to think about what he has in his files," murmured Jack, a sour look on his face that was entirely in agreement with Taylor. He walked right up to Archeville and handed him the vials he'd filled, preferring to simply not think about the circumstances. "Here's everything you asked for," he told Archeville. "How long is it going to take you to process this?"
  19. Thunder wishes that bad guys got hero points. Dark Star is up
  20. She passes the Nullify check with a 22. 'Captain Thunder' uses Electrical Control 12 (Burst Area, Selective Attack) (Full-Round Action, Touch-Range) DC 22 Reflex save vs. a potential DC 27 Toughness save. Freedom Angel fails the Reflex save He rolls a 29 with the HP, and is uninjured Fleur is up
  21. The blow struck home, and Dr. Archeville's opponent yelped and flexed in the air. But she stayed in the air all the same, though, and gave him a malevolent look as glowing red flame washed over her eyes. "That might have worked, she gloated wickedly. "On the real Lady Liberty." Back in the laboratory, Thunder took a few moments to take in this situation before springing into action. "You owe me for this one, you stupid junkie!" he spat with a sneer on his handsome face as he glared at Johnny, jutting out his square jaw as he cussed out his own teammate. "As for the rest of you, there's nothing left I need in this room. Taste the power of the THUNDERBOLT!" And with that he raised his fists in the air and drove them into the ground beneath his feet, sending massive eruptions of lightning washing over the room.
  22. "It's a boy," said Avenger, his fearsome demeanor slipping to be replaced by something between happiness and fear. "We're still debating what we're going to call him." He even smiled at that. When Ace returned, he said, "Yes, I was around for that. It was some kind of mad scientist from Europe who was trying to use him to power a weapon." He thought about that. "Fleur and Phantom saved both of us," he admitted, an unhappy look on his face. "Dark Star would be the one to ask about where the equipment went, though. Taylor and I had other things on our mind that night."
  23. "That sounds awesome, you guys," said Mark, looking warmly down at tiny little Faith. "And you know, if we put Faith on the team, it doesn't count as skipping training. It's more like teaching her about...everything." He reached down and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "Maybe later, you can show us what you can do."
  24. After a long, uncomfortable few minutes, Jack reappeared next to Taylor, vials carefully cradled in his hands. "Well, that was unpleasant," he said, his eyebrows furrowed. "Is there anything other than satisfying Archeville's sense of humor that's keeping us here right now?"
  25. Inside the wrapped box there glimmered a smaller, shimmering box covered in a slick, shiny film, with the faces of terrible fiends glaring up balefully at the world. "It's the boxed Universal Monsters DVD," said Jack proudly. "I found it on eBay." All the greats were there; Dracula and Frankenstein, the Mummy and the Invisible Man, the Bride and the Wolfman, even the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Phantom of the Opera. "I'll even watch them with you, because I love you," he teased.
