  1. You are still pinned; she'd still have you pinned on a natural 1 with that roll.
  2. Patchwork Girl attempts a grapple against Ace Danger as a full-round action. She uses her sword, for what is effectively a melee version of Ranged Pin, because I like the visuals for that. She hits Ace. The Toughness DC for her attack is 34. She chooses to do lethal, because why wouldn't she? Arrowhawk is up.
  3. Cy, Electra mentioned that Dark Star is still there: her Teleport was able to get all the civilians except the bachelors on the floor. It was also just Affect Others, so unwilling targets didn't have to leave.
  4. As Atlas' words echoed through the room, the three assassins fell dead silent as the assembled heroes rallied to arms. The few civilians left in the room, the unfortunate bachelors who'd been standing among the men trying to catch the garter, were doing their best to slink away from the superpowered juggernauts in their midst. After a moment's pause, Arcanix faced Jack squarely and said, "Jack Faretti. You defy the tribunal and consort with the living. You shall be taken from this place for trial before the Dragon's Court. As for the living, their suffering will be on your head." The patchwork girl behind the dark wizard looked at Ace, distinct awareness in her black, doll-like eyes, and said, her voice muffled by the thread binding her lips together: "Ace. Danger." And with that, she whipped out her sword, faster than anyone in the room could follow, and stabbed him through the torso, her massive blade sliding so deep that it plunged through the floor behind Ace.
  5. I assume we can just keep the same initiative order. And yes, there is time for a Master Plan to be developed. =)
  6. This time, a dingy Freedom City back alley rippled into view around the teenagers, the dirt, grime, and decaying look of the brickwork putting them a couple of decades back, before the O'Connor administration's "Clean Skies" initiative did so much for the city's environment. Looking around, though, they saw not only had the surroundings changed, their costumes had changed too! Mark was dressed in a tacky Nehru jacket and slacks instantly recognizable to people familiar with his father, while Mike was dressed in a slightly anachronistic copy of Captain Thunder's uniform. (Mark, of course, would never put anyone in the Centurion's uniform without asking them first.) The girls, meanwhile, were in familiar colors; Alex was dressed in a snappy copy of the uniform Alexander Rhodes had worn as the Scarab, while Erin was dressed up in the black and grey uniform of the original Raven! Everyone still had all their gear, they'd just taken something of a costume switch. "Okay," said Mark, "it's a classic set-up! Our heroes have just met each other and so naturally we're going to have a fight to test each other out. Any questions?" "
  7. Go ahead, Darius, though Fulcrum may be sitting on her oversized hands for a while. :)
  8. The path up the mountain was a twisted, winding one, the jungle air around the heroes all the more disturbing for its silence. As they made their way further up the volcano, the animal noises around them gradually died away, leaving only green forest that seemed oddly bereft without its animal components. When they reached what was evidently a fork in the path; the teen heroes were left with two choices; the path towards the Serpent-Men village, which was sere in its own way but at least boasted some animal life to go with a sickly-green patch of jungle. Further up the volcano, though, all the plants had acquired a distinctly unhealthy pallor, and _all_ the animals were gone. Indeed, they could see a few dead animals up that way. Those of the heroes with knowledge of death were struck by just how well-preserved the corpses there were in the jungle environment. Either they were freshly dead; unlikely given the lack of animals elsewhere, or perhaps even the small creatures that drove decomposition were avoiding the area.
  9. Avenger's Init: 14 Arcanix's Init: 16 Iron Golem's Init: 16 Patchwork Girl's Init: 29 Just need init from Fleur and we can get going. =)
  10. Jack put his arms around Taylor, not feeling terribly well-disposed towards Dr. Archeville just then. "That's one word for it." If he hadn't trusted Viktor Archeville so thoroughly, he'd have had some pretty harsh words for the man...but he knew it was just Archeville's way. Do I really have grounds to accuse anyone of being inhumane? "My turn, now?" he asked Archeville hopefully. "Or can you tell us what all that showed first?"
  11. With the fight done and robots vanquished, the con-goers began streaming back in to gape and applaud the assembled heroes. Soon cellphones were coming out and pictures flashing; Phantom, Dark Star, and Fleur de Joie were going to be on lots of fan-sites tonight! Just as the heroes began thinking about what to do next, the projection system in the room sprang to life. On the screen appeared a close-up of a teenage boy with almost cat-like glasses and an anime-looking hairstyle. The infamous Doc Otaku was instantly recognizable! He smiled and said, “Ah, I see you’ve managed to defeat poor Akira and Kevin. That’s a shame, they were fun to see fight. But, anyhow, they proved to be an excellent distraction.” He held up a film reel with the word “AKATAIYO” written on a piece of tape stuck to it. “See you later, Space Cowboys,” he taunted right before the projector clicked off.
  12. "Okay, well, are we taking these guys back?" said Jack with a little shrug, looking around at the others as he stood up. He'd settled in with a messy Gargoyle on his lap, dabbing at his face while the clawy little male fussed and scratched unhappily. It was hard for the little alien to be too upset, though, with all the food he'd gotten. Jack kept a secure grip on the little guy, balancing in his arms and scratching his belly.
  13. Fire. There was a mental image he didn't need. "Well, I don't know," Jack admitted. "Very few of the heroes who know my secret have reacted the way I expected. So maybe they'll be more...accepting of this than we think." He tried to keep his feelings about the trust his friends had shown him out of his voice; it seemed pretty petty to complain about it under the circumstances. "Nonetheless, the fewer people who know about it, the better." He thought for a few moments. "You've mentioned dimensions where time runs differently. What if we hid out in one of those for a while? That way you'd have time to...develop, we could both easily go back if there was a problem, and we'd skip the...well, the dangerous parts." Some of them, anyway.
  14. Tada! Mother, baby, and dad are all doing fine, the newest addition to our family born at 9:17 AM on January 17, 2010.
  15. Still feeling bad, Edge kept a close eye on Alex just to make sure she was okay. He was confident Erin was fine; not out of any lack of concern for his fellow classmate, given her resilient nature and fast healing, but because she seemed to be bearing up under the stress of his surprise maneuver much better than the usually-unflappable Alex was. "Well, as long as you're okay," he said doubtfully, "I guess we can keep going in a new scenario. I've got a more modern one, it may be less...confusing."
  16. OK, that's an HP for everyone whose secret identity has just been revealed. And for Divine as well.
  17. Jack was on his feet, facing the Dragon's death squad with all the courage he could muster. Not here, he prayed. God, not like this! He tossed aside the chair, which was meager shield anyway, and faced the inquisitors with nothing but courage and his friends at his side to back him up. "The Dragon's Law has no power here, Arcanix. It's a New World, with new laws. And new dangers," he added with a nod to the growing superhuman army around them. "Take your golem and your assassin now, and tell the Dragon you were overmatched. This is Freedom City. No longer will we bow our heads to foreign despots. Even if their blood flows in our veins," he added.
  18. Now that they'd overcome Jack's objections to revealing Taylor, Jack and Taylor made a cheerful production of drawing out the garter-toss, Jack grinning wolfishly as he sat down by Taylor's bare leg, Taylor stretching out to give a family-friendly show as Jack reached up underneath her dress and pulled down what proved to be a scarlet-red, lacy-looking garter. Grinning cheerfully, not a care in the world, he made a great production of turning his back to the men and taking negligent aim behind him. He was no marksman, but he certainly hoped one of his friends back there would catch the thing. With a flick of elastic, the garter flew, whipping through the air, just brushing against Derrick's outstretched hand-when the air exploded. An eruption of terrible black light above the ballroom transformed itself into a sphere of glowing, mystical bats that suddenly exploded to fill the air in the room with shrieking wings and terrible claws, revealing three terrifying figures within that settled to Earth between bride and groom and the rest of the party. The leader was a man, or rather, the semblance of a man in black robes engraved with blasphemous silver sigils, his red eyes and glaring fangs speaking to his vampiric heritage. The other two were not human at all, though both bore the shape of a man. The figure on the left was a gigantic figure cast in rusting iron, the shape of a man covered in iron spikes that dripped with a foul, black mystic fluid that swirled and boiled over its cold iron flesh, the great helm placed over the hole where its head should have been glowing with a mystic white power of its own. On the right was a patchwork woman of stitched-together skin, a face that might have been beautiful if not for the cold malice behind the eyes, the scars all around the edge where it had been sewn to her body, and the mouth sealed shut by thick black cord. Behind her was a sword, huge and green, that shone with no natural radiance. The leader pointed directly at Jack. "Jack Faretti, childe of Claudia! You stand accused of crimes before the Dragon's Law! What is your plea?"
  19. Mark stops fighting! :(
  20. Hand over his mouth, Mark looked appalled. He'd never actually badly hurt one of his friends before; that was one of the wonderful things about the ways his powers were supposed to work. "Oh God, what did I do? All I did was try and shove her mind before she got us," he said, looking apologetically at Mike before saying out loud. "You can come out, Alex! I'm really sorry!"
  21. Take an HP for the setback, Cy.
  22. Something seem distinctly off about the League building as Dark Star's senses passed through the heavy defenses outside, more off than peeking into someone else's house just because they hadn't been seen for a while. As Dark Star pushed his senses further, things outside his body changed. The news technician who'd helped set up the camera leaned out from the side of the van, calling to the reporter he was working for. “Amy!” he yelled. “You’re not going to believe this! There’s a call on the police band. Members of the Freedom League just broke into ASTRO Labs up in the North End!” “Then what are you waiting for, Irv?” Ms. Feng said as she dashed for the news van. “Let’s roll!”

  24. With my current +17 Will save, I spend an HP to pass the save automatically. That puts me at 6.
  25. Hokay, it's power-stunt time! Mind Shield 10 (Affects Others, Burst Area, Reflective) and Drain Wisdom 10 (Ranged) Attack on Psyche I believe that hits. Mark is sharing his innate Markness (in the brain) with Psyche and Phalanx both. He's just doing it in a nicer way with Phalanx.
