Usual DC 20 Reflex/DC 25 Toughness save for all the demons. When it's my turn, anyway.

"Burn," said Edge to the demons, as the ground beneath them began to bubble up. His power reached down through the earth beneath them, breaking open legions of pipes that still pumped with an impossible volume of holy water, a great jet of drenching liquid that came rushing up to cascade over all the demons, somehow bending around James to leave him undrenched even as it soaked and battered the rest of the monsters with massive waves of holy water.

Reunited and It Feels So Good (IC)
Avenger Assembled replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Bayview
Agent H never did become more than a subsidiary member of Young Freedom: Hope Rogers just wasn't ready to sign on to a super-team yet when she was already sorting through so many problems of her own. But she did stay in contact with most of the members of the team, particularly Erin, who knew so much about a world torn apart and ruled by monsters. As for Young Freedom, their voyage to Erde left them all with a lot of memories to sort through of the war-torn world they'd left behind. In the wide gulf of the multiverse, there were many kinds of heroes.- 36 replies

Edge blows yet another HP (I've got what, two, now? One?) to force the bad guy Erin hit to reroll its Toughness save, taking the worst of the two rolls. He then Aids Mike's next attack upon it.

Edge felt foul, loathsome impulses pulling at his mind, pushing them aside only through sheer force of will. I'm better than that. I'm a SUPERHERO! He concentrated on the monster Erin had just hit, focusing his gaze directly on where the tree had struck it. Come on! he thought, Surely it hit harder than that!. At the same time, he fired a shot right at the face of the...thing up there. "Here's my friend the laser blaster!" he called

22 is Init. Oh, and I'm blowing the HP for Inspire now, so that it'll be in place during our first round of combat? (If you think I can do that, Cy.)

"Hell has come to Freedom City," said Avenger laconically. He flexed his fingers, exposing his bare face to Dead Head for the first time. "Listen. I haven't been entirely open about where I come from," he explained for the benefit of Dead Head. "Whatever you see today, just trust that I'm on the side of the angels." He could hear the screaming of the crowd in his ears, in the depths of what passed for his soul. "We're the big guns today, Dead Head. While Midnight Freedom pulls the demons off the door, another team is going in to close the gate." He flexed his fingers again, his entire body inhumanely poised as he watched the demons approaching. "That means that whatever happens, we stand up and we keep that door open." "Phantom, you said the demons feed on violence and negative emotions, right? So if we want to get their attention, we need to give them what they hunger for. We need to give them pain."

"Erin, Alex, Mike and I were there when we last saw James," said Mark, sounding considerably more subdued than usual. "We're the best ones to reach him. You in particular, Erin," he agreed, "since you know James so well." He was quiet again, subdued as he'd been for quite a while, then went on. "People...we can do this." Despite the fear in his voice, he sounded absolutely believable. "This is Freedom City. Our grandparents were here when the Nazis came. Our parents were here when the heroes stopped Hades, and the Grue, and Set the Destroyer...and some of us were here, barely, when the Centurion died." He looked at each face, his own fear dropping away as he saw his people. "We can do this. This isn't about glory for us. This is about saving the day. If no one else has anything, I think we're ready."

Mark Leeds feared no monster. Well, maybe a little...He picked up the phone just as it rang the second time. He was in full costume, a trifle ragged for having spent the night there before. His family was out of town; he'd persuaded his parents to take a quick vacation outside the city. "Y-yes?"

Jack stared down at the city gone mad, the vision of Hell itself like every waking daymare he'd had since he'd been brought over. "I always knew I'd wind up here," he said aloud, "but I never thought it would come to me." He picked up the phone, calling Atlas and Dead Head, letting them know to rendezvous with him on Ditko Street near Riverside. "Let them think we're trying to reach Eldritch. We'll keep the weight off him, letting the Master Mage do what he can, and pull down enough weight on us that the kids can get through." When he was done with his calls, he did one last thing. Jack pulled off his hockey mask and tossed it aside. The time for wearing silly masks was over. It was time for war. "Let's go."

15 That's not very heroic! 26 with the HP! Running awfully low on those. :(

Mark Inspires as a full-round action, then spends an HP to surge and Aid Mike with his attack.

"Come on," called Mark urgently, "we can do this! Careful of that acid, Wander! Everybody, let's kick some demonic butt!" He raised his arms and fired a shot from his wrist blaster at the demon holding James, aiming to distract the demon enough to let Phalanx swoop in for the kill. "We'll show these no-good-niks that we don't let demons steal our friends! If they want to go to HELL, we'll send them there the OLD-FASHIONED WAY!"

What about a pig? Jack restrained the urge to make an unfortunate comment he'd only regret later. "Well, I'm glad we could get this far." He gave Lynn another serious, deeply probing look. "Vampires really aren't something you should mess with, Grim. If you don't know them, the only way to know if my people are trustworthy is to actually talk with them. There are monsters on the street worse than..." He thought for a minute, then shook his head. "I was going to say there are monsters worse than any human, but that's not true. The monsters are so bad because they _are_ human." He studied her carefully, then added, almost unguardedly, "My soul isn't something you need to bother worrying about. But I appreciate the fact that you do. Okay, are we square?"

V.I.N.C.E. (PL6 NPC, Tier 2)

Also, at this point a telepath could hassle him. I have no problem with that, it's kind of cool to contemplate a computer so sophisticated it can send and receive telepathic messages. Hey, he's got a soul! =D Is that something you're after? -

So Vince can keep himself from being permanently deactivated, but he can't repair himself beyond that? That works, I suppose, but it is the saddest thing. pictures a broken Vince off in the corner, slowly typing "PLZ FIX I" with his little computer fingers -

Good good. Hmm. I will rarely say this to you, quote, but I think you can get MOAR power out of the Interceptor. Even one rank of Flight outside your array will let you go to town. -

I have to agree with Shaen's critique of the ESP power. If a Ref doesn't want someone's super-fast ESP searching to find whatever, just give them an HP for the complication. As you and I have discussed your strategies in character-building by IM, there's nothing here I have a problem with. (i.e.; she has Protection because her Toughness boost from her powers doesn't go away) Here's your first Approval! APPROVED- 31 replies

"Oh." Mark was moderately interested, but didn't look terribly hung-up on the details of Mike's emotional life. "I guess it's a good thing he's in love with a telepath, then. Must make communication much easier." He smiled. "I have to say, I had a good time of it. He's a lucky guy."
-
"She's just not very nice," said Mark with a little shrug. "She likes to use her powers to hurt other kids, and she gets away with it because she's really pretty and acts nice when the teachers are around. Even I can tell the difference," he admitted. "I don't know why she decided to pick on you. Maybe she heard you had problems with your emotions."
-
He smiled. "Well, that's good. I like you a lot, Alex, I'd be sad if we weren't friends." He patted her hand, then released it. "I do feel bad for Mike, though I wish he'd said something sooner about being interested in you. He probably didn't like hearing about our relationship as much as I thought he would." He shrugged. "Thought it would cheer him up. He seems reasonably content these days, at least."

For the first time, Alex saw just a tiny bit of heat creep into Mark's voice. "Well, evidently, Alex, he does lose his temper. But like I said, he and I are fine with that. He's got his problems, I've got mine. Things have stopped dropping on him while I'm in the room, which is certainly reassuring. We're teenage superheroes, we've all got some issues controlling our powers." He shook his head, settling down a little. "And we had some good times. I don't think we'll stop being friends, will we?"
-
"Whoever's fault that was, it certainly wasn't yours," Mark told her with quick, instinctive reassurance, reaching over to lightly pat her arm. "It's okay. And Mike and I are okay too," he added, "though I'm sure you picked up on that already. We had it out, he's going to work on controlling his temper, and we're fine." He smiled. "Trust me, my last breakup was much more annoying."
