  1. Notice: 13 Search: 9 Hmm, not so good. Well, Avenger isn't at his best in the daytime. Reflex: 28 Or is he? I'll do the heroic thing and take the harder house, natch.
  2. Also, ex, you probably want to put your corrected sheet in your first post in the thread. (Just cut and paste) It'll make later processing a lot faster and easier.
  3. If you want to stick with a 'classic' name that doesn't involve any IRL religions, Cy, here's a good list.
  4. "Nah, faculty lounge is nothing special," said Mark cheerfully. "I talked to a guy who got in there once, and the weirdest thing in there is what Old Man Faulks puts in his coffee." He led his new-found buddies to the library, going sneakily inside the back stairs and up to the third floor, where a large No Admittance sign stopped them at the fire door. "Here it is; the third floor of the library." He looked at the others with a mysterious look on his face. "The one place on campus the average student isn't allowed to go; not even the ones Mr. Summers really likes. Some people say that's where Serena Vervain keeps her forbidden magical artifacts, or it's where they put the secret science stuff that the crazy student inventors develop." No one he was currently with looked tech-savvy enough to be offended. "I'm part of the Sneak Club," he confessed. "It's about the only club I'm allowed to join. We all put in five bucks, and the first person to get inside the third floor without being caught gets the pot. You can sneak in if you're not in the club, though," he added jovially. "It's a thing we have."
  5. Oh, what the heck. Gimmie a Craft: Electronics roll. :D
  6. "There are recordings of him in battle," The Archeville allowed, "but I have no way of knowing how reliable they are. My senses have been...fooled by his machinations enough that I have no way of knowing what was actually seen and what was simply projected for the benefit of myself and other observers." Archeville laid out the power structure of the new regime for his two visitors as best he could, painting a grim picture of global domination. Lord Arachnos's headquarters were located in what was still called Freedom City, the name now bitterly ironic as it was the capital of a regime that held the world in an iron grip. He had various superpowered governors in assorted regions of the world; the former Siren down in the Caribbean, the former Crimson Katana in Japan, each of them once among the most prominent superheroes or supervillians of their native regions. For his personal guard, Arachnos maintained the survivors of the former Liberty Brigade: Donar the God of Thunder, Columbia the once patriotic powerhouse, Raven and Magpie, and various other former heroes. "As for Odysseus, he was indeed once a hero," said The Archeville with what might have been contempt in its mechanical voice. "At least before the new order of things. In return for providing certain protections to the new master of the world, he was granted overlordship of all of Europe. Myself, and some others, objected to that, and sought various ways of combating him. As you can see...well, we are doing better than some. I can only imagine what will happen in Athens if ere Medea overcomes the magical nullification in the region."
  7. Jack eventually left the party, slipping out while the others were busy with their own affairs. Maybe it had been a mistake to try and socialize with humans on their own terms, but he had enjoyed the social interplay and back-and-forth maybe more than he'd expected. He'd even met a couple of celebrities, for all that he'd avoided the ones he thought might be more magically sensitive than others. I never thought it would come to this, he thought, sitting casually on the roof of the Pyramid Plaza and watching the Moon overhead. Dressing up as a superhero, working out my frustrations, doing something valuable with my nights...I never thought it would lead me here, to people like that. He'd stood in the company of heroes and been their friend. Maybe it hadn't been such a mistake after all.
  8. "Hello, Dark Star? Dark Star, come in." Avenger had watched Scarab work the controls on this thing, but he wasn't at all sure he was actually activating the space phone at all. Stupid 1960s technology, he thought to himself. Top of the line or not, it still wasn't exactly intuitive to someone born in the digital age. Especially if the most you know about technology and such is how to program your iPhone. Not that I have an iPhone. Or know how to program one. "Don't even know if the blasted thing is on...Grimalkin, if you can't do it, I'll get it."
  9. The police took the unconscious Marionette away as the EMTs finished checking out Rachel, speaking to her and Ace both given as she was the patient and he was both a superhero and family. "It looks like you may have some vascular damage in your scalp, but nothing serious. You'll probably have a very nasty bruise on your face in a couple of hours from the burst blood vessels, but no worse that that. Still, I think it's a good idea to take you to the ER at McNider," Carlos the EMT suggested. From outside, Ace heard the sudden, startled exclamation of the police, followed by Lieutenant Kanigher practically breaking down the inner office door again. "She's gone!" At the officer's words, Ace turned to look at the couch where he'd laid Marionette earlier and saw the nullifer helmet sitting there that he'd just seen Kanigher put on the woman's head not a few minutes earlier.
  10. How'm I doing on getting into the house, Doc? :)
  11. I actually had no character concept in mind for the idea at all; I just didn't know if it was something the system would support. Always good to keep speculating!
  12. Just make sure you're careful with this side of him. He is only sixteen, and we try and keep it family-friendly around here. (Not that I actually expect you to get up to a lot of mischief, but it's important to keep things like that in mind.) If you have access to Freedom's Most Wanted, there are a couple of teenage demonic antagonists you might want to think about for this guy. I like the history; Cy, it reminds me a lot of DC's Raven. Here's a link to a bio of hers if you're looking for more background stuff/story seeds. I'll do the numbers when you finish adding them up. :)
  13. Hi all, I was thinking today about ways to model a melee attack that never misses; essentially a perception range attack that can only be used on someone adjacent to you. Is that something the system can model successfully? (Admittedly, I can't think of a comics example...)
  14. Hmm, why don't you meet up with us at the concert? There's no reason why Breakdown couldn't have actually bought a ticket; he's the kind of guy who actually pays money to hear music. (Well, live music, anyway. )
  15. OK, that's Move-Action Intimidate, an Unarmed Attack, and a Grapple. Breakdown is at -4 on his grapple checks, since Dr. Darkness is especially good at this (has Improved Pin). Have an HP, since I fiated.
  16. It was a good, solid hit that kronged off Dr. Darkness' mask, making him stagger back briefly before he righted himself. Forming himself into a combat stance, he gave a menacing growl Breakdown's way "You may have the grooves, boyeee, but do you got...the MOVES?" He reached out and landed a solid blow to Eddie's midsection, one that carried a lot of apparent force for a simulation! He did his best to wrap his meaty arms around Breakdown's midsection at that, trying to snare him for one of his famous grips.
  17. Not looking particularly worried by Chris' dire threats, Mark obediently buckled himself in for the ride. "Ah, so you'll be letting us out, then coming down on that yourself?" He scratched his chin. "You know, I suppose we could always come down that way. Mike is strong enough to carry Erin, Alex can fly, you've got that thing, and I've got a little maneuver I've been working on myself. That way we wouldn't get separated in the crowd at FCU."
  18. No, just say "Eddie currently has his Rock Form active." I can look on his sheet to know what stats that gives him; I just don't want to be telling you what your character is doing if you have a different idea. :)
  19. Oh yes, I actually had quite a bit more in mind. Make a Notice check.
  20. Shaking in terror and isolation as painful as her brother's had been, Rachel Trask tumbled out straight into the waiting arms of her brother. They embraced each other, the two of them looking around at their opposite numbers for a few wild moments. "Is this it?" asked Rachel. "I had a feeling it would end like this." She stepped in front of her brother, and was about to launch into a rousing speech before Ray took her aside and explained all that had happened. She watched, wide-eyed, then looked back at Scarab and Phantom with a new look on her face. "So w-what happens to us now?" she asked both her brother and the others. Meanwhile, upstairs, Avenger's attempts to hail Dark Star hadn't gone any better than his attempts at calling Doctor Archeville. "Can't be a coincidence." Avenger leaned over and pressed the intercom button. "Scarab. Matter requires your attention when finished." He turned to Grimalkin. "You want to beam them out? I've got to get this wrapped up."
  21. Marionette dropped into sleep immediately at Ace's words, the pretty blonde's blue eyes fluttering as she slumped into unconsciousness again. The police arrived not long after that, STAR Squad in their usual heavy uniforms. The officers were pleased, though not too surprised, to find that Ace had taken care of most of the problem for them. While the paramedics looked Rachel over, the cops slapped a psi-nullifying helmet on the still-sleeping Marionette and turned it on. "Lord, talk about one for the history books, huh?" said Lieutenant Kanigher, shaking his head as he took Ace's statement. "Who'd have thought we'd see a second Marionette?"
  22. "You bet," replied Mark, who didn't stop for a minute to analyze Eddie's attitude. "I was really lucky." He grinned, then turned to Alex, his smile broadening. "I would love to give you guys a tour. You guys wanna see the only place on campus where students aren't allowed to go? Don't worry, I won't get you guys in trouble, I swear." Though Mark was a fairly careless guy, in several senses of the word, he was savvy enough to know not to show the really forbidden stuff to really new students.
  23. OK, just so I'm clear: which alternate form does Eddie have active right now?
  24. OK, our Initiative Order is Breakdown: 24 Dr. Darkness: 19 Eddie, you're up.
