Everyone cleared out, between one thing and another, some with looks of sympathy for Pan and others with mocking amusement on their faces. There was silence, not even the sound of breathing or dripping water, and for a moment or two it seemed that Eira wasn't going to appear at all before she stepped out from the stall she was occupying, silver chain dangling from her closed fist. She stared at Pan, pale blue eyes wide, a look of anger on her pretty pale face. "I do not care that you were dancing with Elizabeth. I don't care if you dance with every girl at the prom," she hissed, her voice sizzling as she advanced on Pan. She looked at him up close when she reached him, and for a moment seemed at a loss for words, slumping back on herself, before she said, "You made me feel stupid." She folded her arms over her chest, looking over at the two of them in the bathroom mirror for just a moment. If the anger had leached out of her voice, hurt had replaced it now. "And then you hung over my shoulder and taunted me, like I am not real to you." she said him softly, looking back at him. "As if I do not have a heart." She looked up into his eyes and said, "If you don't care anything for me, that is - fine," she said, her voice hitching slightly. "But do not treat me like a machine."

"Daedalus" dropped to all fours, legs folded up behind its body, and the armored head swiveled to look from one face to the other. "Ohhh!" came a mechanical croak. "I get it! I traveled in time! Like when Daedalus did when he fought Nazis on Moon, or when Freedom League went back to meet gods. How exciting! I like Daedalus," it added, "he is my favorite, because he liked to poke at things, as I do, and to make things. I learned your tongue from his thing I found! That is why I wear his armor, and why I want people to call me Daedalus! They hardly ever do," it added disconsolately. Hopping around to the front of the group, Daedalus went on, "This must be an up-time-team! Are we going to fight bank robbers? Or..._taxes_?" it spoke the last word in awed, slightly fearful wonder, as one might when speaking of a dark menace of ancient days. -
Eira pushed back from the new wall she'd picked, arms crossed protectively over her chest and looking down at the floor. Without making eye contact with anyone, she turned and hurried towards one of the two unisex bathrooms, shoving the door open and disappearing inside as the heavy 'wooden' door closed beside her with a thump. Once inside, she didn't so much as look at the occupants before she disappeared into one of the stalls, dropping down on the seat and closing the door behind her. She closed the door and laid her head against the cool of the metal, no tears in her mechanical eyes. She reached up and yanked off her atomic necklace, peering down at the hydrogen shape in her hand where one lone electron orbited one lone proton, bound together by the simple, quantifiable bonds of physics. - Down at ground level again as the dance number finished, a beaming Judy looked around for a moment before spotting Danica by the girl's bathroom. Leroy in tow, she headed over there. "Hey, Danica! Ah didn't expect to see you here." Judy had seen Ashley head over to check on Dio amid the fuss around the punch bowl and she wasn't too worried - that was just the big lizard's way sometimes. "Oh, well, I wouldn't have missed this for the world!" said Danica with a little laugh. "I just had to get this old thing out and try it on. Excuse me," she said as the music started up again, "I believe this is my cue!" And with that, she shimmied out onto the dance floor, just in time to join a group of students who were trying their best to do the Black Bottom but not necessarily succeeding. Judy stared after her, a baffled look on her face.

What followed was an odd mechanical noise - like a booming buzz, and then rapid motion from above that resolved itself into a sight oddly familiar. Justice and Alice would have recognized the armor of the Freedom City champion Daedalus in its vaguely Grecian garb, but this version of it looked to be shaped and beaten oddly, as if something not quite shaped like a person was inside it. The armored figure landed by the side of the group and croaked distinctly before speaking in an odd, vaguely mechanical voice that sounded fascinated by this turn of events."I speak your tongue! All of you live! How delightful! Is this where you go when you die?" -

@Kaede Kimura You have the ominous feeling that this isn't a place of shadow - this is a place of _nothing_. As if the land here isn't connected to the land of darkness and cold, not to the land of decay and entropy, but simply _nothing_. @Tiffany Korta Everything seems fine, as far as you can tell, the cyborg interpreters and other helpers are guiding the refugees to buses and other forms of transport. There are tearful reunions of what must have been people from earlier waves of refugee transportation - mostly seperated families and the like. It's honestly a beautiful scene. You too see the flicker in the sky - as if what you're seeing above is just a projection of the..actual sky?

"Shut. Up." Eira hissed out loud, a moment before the spider crawled out of the punch bowl. It wasn't a real spider (since most real spiders don't have legs a foot and a half long) and it didn't look much like one either. With its smooth black body, humanoid eyes and facial expression, and soft, rounded limbs, it looked more like a period cartoon than anything more arachnid. A few people had been in the process of filling their cups from the bowl and shrieked, but they were hard to hear over the music and the creature wasn't actually frightening enough for them to go get a chaperone. The perfect prank. "Pardon me, boy," it hissed at Dio with a slightly inebriated old Atlantic accent, doffing its fedora with one forelimb, "is that the Chattanooga choo-choo?" With the question asked, it began crawling under the table. Eira watched the scene with a smirk on her face and moved across the room, detaching from the wall as she went, so distracted that she missed the way frilly little Danica was tagging along behind her. The turtle titan didn't seem bothered by her encounter with the robot - if anything, Eira had pushed off _her_ and not the other way around.

On the same night that hearts were won, lost, and pranks pulled in the Doom Room, ethics professor Gale al-Salaf is running a meeting for students not interested in prom night - they have managed to secure the services of a famous (albeit mysterious) guest speaker who will be addressing the students by remote. Gale is a fairly recent hire at Claremont, slim and a snappy dresser, with short-cropped dark hair and a tendency to fashionable dress, who starts every semester with a reminder that their pronouns are they and their. They're the subject of all sorts of interesting rumors, though luckily only the more immature kids speculate about something as boring as biology. Their lessons are typically diverse, with talks spread across time, space, and even dimensions - and today they're focused on the job as the kids come in. "Hello, friends! Come in, come in! There is popcorn afoot, herbed and cheesed, and I have secured most of the campus supply of Kool-Aid..." If the guest speaker doesn't work out, there are promises of a DVD of Planet Earth's new season on the big-screen 3-D tv. Professor al-Salaf loves environmental shows.

You are almost certain the girl in the videos is some sort of low-level metahuman - what look like rapid cuts and editing tricks actually may well be some variant of super-speed. You can go ahead and take us to the next morning when you post, @HGM

The sudden interplay between Elizabeth and Pan, too fast and smooth like butter, caught Eira off-guard. "But - I - " She watched the two of them walk onto the dance floor together, her hands balled into fists, her pale blue eyes narrowed tight. The voice on Eira's shoulder caught her turning away, and actually made her stumble into Danica, who she pushed away from with a look of curling fury on her pretty face as she hissed, "Watch where you're-" She stepped back, seeming to catch herself before she yelled at everyone's favorite turtle, and stood alone, a robot surrounded by the organic high school students, and backed against the wall. Once there, she folded her hands behind her back and watched, while all the while a metal spike wriggled its way out from underneath her arm and buried itself in the "wooden" wall behind her.

Eira burst out laughing, a short bark that was all-too-human. "Never mind." Seething, she looked at her half-done work on the table before turning back to the others, then back to Xiaolin, her hands folded behind her. "Let us see your god."

"Okay." Eira stepped out of the bathroom with her hands in her sweatpant pockets, looking a little frazzled but ready for what came next. She gave Erik a quick smile, teeth flashing, then walked back across the floor to join Pan. "I want to try that again," she told him seriously, staring at him with pale blue eyes. "But I want to try it slower - and without so many distractions." For the others, she spared neither a look nor a word.

TV: You notice the sky flicker overhead a few times, as if something somewhere is just slightly on the fritz. You also notice that many of the people using devices are actually cyborgs - those translators, lights, and colorful displays are actually implanted in their skins rather than being worn. Come to think of it, all the native Rurlanders interacting with the refugees all seem to have some sort of cybernetic augmentation, even if it's just what looks to be the equivalent of jewelry.

"<There are not so many of us>," Eira murmured softly, staring out the window with her head cocked slightly. "<We have to stick together.>" She shook Mette's hand, her grip bony and a little cold. "<In costume, I am Angelic. I was born Eira Katastroff Natt och Dag, but it is just Eira.>" The long name had the air of words long-memorized, and were said with some seeming disquiet. She wound up strapping herself in next to Mette as the plane actually touched down, muttering something about being more for human protection than anything else - and then Vanguard had arrived! With their refugee fellow passengers, they had to work to find each other through the crowd. The airfield was small but sparkling new as they looked out the plane's doors, the asphalt they'd landed on almost mirror-bright. The refugees had people waiting for them, humans in serious, professional-looking garb who (with the help of mechanical translators) called out greetings to "The newest residents of the newest nation on Earth - Rurland!" The team had gotten the briefing on what the refugees could expect and so far it seemed as though Talos was keeping his word - there were cars waiting to take them away, counselors who spoke fluent Spanish (again with mechanical aid), and a few tearful reunions out there on the tarmac. As for their welcoming party, there was a big black van waiting for them a little away from the refugees, where an obviously-repurposed Foundry bot was holding a sign that read VANGUARD - with a cap perched jauntily on its brassy head.

"Astrid and Micah are doing the same thing," said Eira firmly. "Friendships between...people who are attracted to each other do not always have to end in romance." She still had not let go of Pan's waist, but now she disengaged, a thoughtful expression on her face. Turning to Elizabeth, she said, "Elizabeth, would you like to dance with Pan? I could just stay here. By this table." She folded her hands behind her back and smirked.

Despite Eira's visible eye-twitching, hat story got Davyd a bean that tasted distinctly of apples - and a visitor. "Ka-rag, are you bothering these nice young people?" The sentient (it was hard to tell hir gender) who approached was slim and graceful, a faint reddish cast to their skin as they approached the teens. "Don't listen to _anything_ he says," the new arrival told the teens with a wry smile. Black eyes watched Davyd particularly closely as the being in green stepped between Ka-rag and the others. "My dear doctor," said Ka-rag, an air of offended dignity on his face before he pecked his interlocutor on the cheek, "you have it all wrong. I am merely engaged in practicing my honest trade, which I would think an upstanding member of our station's medical staff would want to promote." "Hm," said the free Grue, they could be no other, before bowing cordially to the new arrivals, putting his arm around Ka-rag as he did so. "I'm Doctor Rihbash, but you can call me Doctor." It was hard to tell if he was smiling or not. though he certainly did have a great many teeth. "Ah, little Citizen!" he said, eyes seeming to light up at the sight of a suddenly-mortified Eira. "So nice to see you again! Are these your friends from Terra? Who's this fine fellow?" Somewhat awkwardly, Eira made introductions before adding, "There is much to see here, if the rest of you want to explore. We do not have to just speak with people who I saw the last time I was on the station!"

When they were over the punch bowl, Eira dropped down and landed among the other teens, the air around her rippling slightly as her magnetic descent caught her fall. "Kam, Elizabeth..." She looked at Robin and stared, eyes seeming to unfocus for a moment, then shrugged her half-bared shoulders fractionally before she slipped an arm around Pan's waist. "I am Eira Katastroff. And this is Pan." She laughed, snorting audibly, and said, with a wave of her free hand, "We thought it would be so funny to just come here and dance like everyone else, yes? ...Have any of you danced?" she asked, raising one silver eyebrow. "Don't give me those snake eyes, Leroy," said Judy, not really annoyed despite the words. She smiled, then admitted in a whisper too quiet to carry beyond their pair, "Ah thought for sure you'd told me who Kam's girlfriend was, but come to think of it Ah guess it was Ashley." Ashley, for her part, was still keeping a discreet distance. "Ah didn't really want to have that conversation!" She laughed nervously, then added, "How long did it take you to get all that set up?"

GM "Psst, hey, Davyd." Was Zoe Robinson, a pretty redhead from the West Coast with a taste for the finer things sitting next to Davyd, or was it just an illusion? With her powers, it could be both - though from the way people were looking, nobody was . "Thanks for busting your butt all week. Hey, nice Phantom of the Opera," she added with a nod. "If you want to sneak in and get a dance, I can cover for you for a bit. I do a pretty good Nosferatu myself." She demonstrated, seeming to be replaced by a not-too-bad impression of Max Schreck via rippling in the air, and winked a rheumy eye at the other teen.
