Huang shrugged at her demand as if she wanted to spend on it that was fine by him. He was going ot toss it all in the void though might use the messenge bag to cover for it but probably not. "Technically that would be the correct tense as it would not have yet happened." he said full of teen sass, "Maybe you're the one needing to brush up on languages." he teased with a smug grin. He took a step toward JJ as the tears welled in the younger hims eyes and gave the small boy a hug while giving his mom his best 'now you made the baby cry' glare over his head. "Hey mini me I'll still be around." he said with a wink, "And if I move out you can have the top bunk, and put up as many stickers up on the walls as you want." he suggested perhaps just to twist the knife a little more when thier overprotective mother refused to let the little boy risk falling from the top bunk. Regardless promises of access to hertofore forbiden areas and more sticker space to cover in overpriced vinyl decals seemed to cheer the five year old.

"Uhm, no." Huang replied cooly, "So I need to branch out and socialize because my only friends are my parents and my time displaced twin but you are fine becuase you have a board social circle of my father me and my time displaced twin." he said with an arched brow. "Typical." he smirked with a shake of his head, "I swear this is why I go with Dad in the divorce." he mumbled the poor lie not for the first time under his breath in full knowledge his mother would hear. He looked around at the backpacks and shook his head, "These are all tacky as hell." he grumped though they were to him ten years out of fasion, they didn't even have bluetooth. "i'll just keep my books in the library." he suggested as it really was absurd to carry a heavy backpack when you were a gate to the infinite void.

Huang rolled his eyes hard enough it had to hurt and still wasn't sure he got his point across well enough. "There are no kids like me." he pointed out matter of factly, "I am unique, well as unique as can be managed with two of me." he murmurs as the whole time shift being his own older twin thing was confusing at the best of times. "I don't need friends, you don't have friends and you do fine." he pointed out with a smug grin. "Ours is a lonely road mother even those with gifts as you call them can't understand us really." he parroted in a tone that made it sound as if this was a lecture she or Jack sr. would give younger him in a few years when he came home crying after being mocked about his fangs.

"That is true." Mike replied to Dancia somewhat thoughtfully, "I've seen some people try." he frowned slightly at that as those heroes had paid high costs for thier devotions. He smiled wide when Erin approached with the shake in hand and Mark offered his ever mark like advice. Standing nodding to her and Mark in turn he made introductions, "Dancia this is Erin White and Mark Lucas my -" he paused for a moment not sure what to call them as they certainly weren't team mates now, "We went to high school together." he finished somewhat lamely, "Mark, Erin, this is Dancia Devons, She's a reporter for the Ledger." he explained as he returned to his seat thanking Erin for hte shake as he took a deep drink trying to wash the taste of alchohol from his mouth. He shook his head at Mark, "Yea but then theres the next time Mark." he pointed out gently, "Also so far they are waiving prosecution for the fraud given my meritous if brief service." he admitted quietly, "So I probably shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." He visibly winced at the mention of their mutual friend and his eyes were downcast, "Uhm yea." he replied, "I'm alright just," he shrugged anything he had left to say lost in the guilt he felt at the whole reason for postponing, everything really had fallen apart so spectacularly.

"Oh nasty." Huang exclaimed with more than even usual teen disgust after all the little monster had technically just put found candy in both thier mouth. Looking decidely away from his younger him, Huang rolled his eyes, "Oh boy math, that'll be original a chinese guy who's good at math!" he replied with biting sarcasm. He shook his head, "I have friends Xltkt and Vyrg." he argued naming off the void entities in his personal pocket of the void he had bound or befriended dependant on how you looked at things. He sighed however resolved that she wasn't going to budge on this his mom was rediculously stuborn. Grumbling under his breath he lamented the inequity of it all to no one in particular. He had low hopes for his time at Claremont regardless of his mothers assurances, "Like the old bat will be able to teach anythign useful anyway." he murmured about the not so ancient in this time soon to be headmistress. "Whatever lets just get this over with." he begged not bothering to argue that learning to do laundry was absurd when you had magic and minions for that. Growing up with a ghost butler gave one odd perspective on such things.

"I don't even see why we're doing this." the laconic teen challenged as he followed the pair from a distant just far enough to not seem like he was with them but not so far as to fully engage the wrath of his mother. He shuffled along grumbling mostly under his breath, "Been doing fine for the past four years, learn all I need at home." he complained idlely. "Never woudl have even figured it out if that magic eater hadn't broken loose." he added quite put out still that his clever ruse had been broken by so small a slip up and not even his slip up. With a beleaguered sigh he pointed at the younger him, "JJ's chewing on tha- gone now."

Mike offered a slow thoughtful nod at her mention of her recent exploits knowing well the sting of not feeling one did enough, "I'm sure you were a great help." he said quietly but allowed her to move the subject forward after her pause. He watched her for a long moment as she offered to help, "I appreciate the offer." he replied hesitantly as he eyed her curiously. A less trusting person would have worried she was just trying to milk out a story exclusive of some kind however Mike generally thought the best of people until proven otherwise. He nodded slowly, "There isn't much to it. I tried the simple life, no capes no mask." he shrugged not that he'd ever worn a mask but the point was got across he felt. He gestured to the freeze of him amid a hail of bullets playing once more on the screen and sighed, "That did not work out so well." he smirked, "I mean I'm glad I was there and was able to help." he clarified quickly, "But it's clear now that normal isn't in the cards." he remarked somewhat solemnly.

Mike smiled slightly and shrugged, "I'm a bit of a rule follower, gets on my friends nerves all the time." he admitted though did not elaborate about events of earlier in the day. The department and union both had requested they handle the media and Mike really had no interest. He sighed as he raised the shot, "Or it did." he lamented and rolled his eyes. "Sorry." he appologized, "Old habits die hard." he smirked as his days of being the Eeyore of Young Freedom were mostly behind him. He quirked a brow at her hint of her own heroic tendancies, "I always thought that was the benefit of a reporter cover?" he asked with a smile, "Show up at events without raising questions but low enough profile no one notices you go missing to change." he said in a barely audible whisper respectful of her perhaps not wanting to be outed in the bar. He waved to the bartender indicating he'd cover the drinks, "This ones on me only fair." he said with a nod and offered some explanation, "Thats why I joined the Force." he offered evenly, "Against advice of people I really ought to know to listen to by now." he added with a wry laugh.

Potential alternatives, Starling (motled Dark coloration), Whippoorwill (Spooky sounding nocturnal), Nighthawk(because night and raptor and grimdark), Swift(corpuscular and sounds fast and agile!) I think someone back in the day was going to use nighthawk but don't recall if the concept made it in game or was too ironagey and didn't make it past concept. Also peak unenhanced Human is usually stats of 24. Not sure if you care about the technically "superhuman" or not though.

I'd be interested in an update for Phalanx and for Ouroboros. With the new thread I have the image of Phalanxs being revealed in my head but you are the pro Phalanx Ouroboros

Mike stood as she moved to the seat next to him waiting for her to be seated before sitting himself. "Thank you." he replied after a long pause he spent trying to figure out how to explain the windfal his investment in AEON had grown too from the birthday bonds he'd cashed in to help Alex start it. No much better to graciously accept a kind offer than that whole story. His gaze was a bit guarded as she introduced herself as a member of the press and he let out a small sigh, "I suppose this is to be expected now." Mike lamented slightly and shrugged before squaring his shoulders and extending a hand for a firm handshake. "Mike Harris." he introduced and offered her a polite smile as he heard the footage replying behind him once more. "I'm not at liberty to discuss what I may or may not know about the events at Mid-town savings and trust if you wish a statement you can contact the FCPD office of public relations or The Fraternal Order of Police Officers press office." he said almost by rote with a bit of sadness in his eyes and turned to take the shot she had bought him making a face no experianced drinker had ever made with the most rotgut of moonshine. Setting the glass down he shook his head slightly, "Double life, I can't seem to manage even a single one." he admitted almost under his breath.

*The TV screen in the small midtown bar flashes the same footage of a brave FCPD officer diving in front of a fusillade of automatic weapons fire as the well equiped would be bank robbers opened fire on the crowd of bystanders. The reporter can be heard screaming in terror until it becomes clear the bullets are pancaking against the muscular chest of the officer in question at which point her voice rings out, "Tell me you are getting this Earl?!" as the footage freezes and snaps to the uper right corner and the anchor weighs in. "We're still waiting on official word from the FCPD on the identity of the individual from this exclusive footage." she explains as they slide a comparison picture of the officer cropped from a recent Acadamy graduation, "However our sources tell us this is rookie officer Mathew Bright, now we go to our panel." and the screen fills with the usual round table of talking heads when new heroes emerge.* Mike sits quietly at the bar knocking back shots with a sure and steady rythm wincing with the burn of each potent liqour bomb sliding down his throat. Around the bar the other patrons glance from him to the screen giving him a wide berth just in case. One wild haired panelist is insisting the officer must be the secret identity of the long unseen hero Phalanx only to be laughed off the screen as Phalanx unlike the officer in question clearly did not wear glasses. Mike had changed out of the tattered uniform that he had put on for the first time just earlier that week, but the simple if slightly too tight blue polo and jeans he wore now was not exactly a far cry from the explosize footage being replayed all over town. "Another." he requests flatly taping the bar lightly with one finger the bartender looking at him somewhat incredulously and pulling down a fresh bottle to get the man another shot. "Thank you." the big man politely intones as he knocks back another with a wince of distaste but without a tremor in his speech or tightly controlled movement despite the prodigious amount of high octane liquor he'd been downing for the last hour.

Also he doesn't trigger the SBM reflex. Much like Will smith and Wayne Brady ;)

Ah yes. thought I had posted that. 25 does not disable his device. Skill mastery will reveal that it is some kind of focused electromagnet. With your understanding of magnetic fields it really shouldn't work but it seems by design it could reach into low orbit and adjust trajectories of satellites. Perhaps with enough of a burst of power even pull something down over the city. Which could of course be rather catastrophic.

Well color me disturbed at how Similar to gizmo I turned out. Also still can't sit through an episode.

The lumbering steambot took the entropic blast full to the chest staggering back a step under the force of the attack but surged back to the offense lightning still sparking from its generators despite the armored plating reduced to so much slag. It seemed these sturdy constructs systems were built of stronger stuff than their bronzen shell would suggest. In the control booth the dials and readings were soaring off the charts. A huge amount of energy was stored in this device Ironclad may be hard pressed to find a outlet for it before it found its own way out to some disastrous effect.

Ace nodded along sort of following the scientific hoo doo the man of a most super cape was laying down. "Well it seems all but tailor made to strike at the Atlanteans then." he said with a sigh, "Hopefully that will give us an edge as we are not..." he suggested hopefully and presented his own findings. "It seems to me that there were three of these creatures, the Atlanteans named them destroyers, unleashed during the war with lemuria." he explained and flipped through some of the accounts and pictograms of the events. "They would strike at the weak points in a structure and bring it down, destroy power conduits, otherwise sabotage the Atlanteans ahead of a lemurian attack." He brought up a map of some excavated ruins with distinct signs of sudden grievous assault, "The results were devastating." "It seems that they were also near unkillable." he says glumly, "One was destroyed or banished by an archmage but it cost the he and his elite cadre of guards their lives. Not from the creatures attacks but from the energies harnessed to cause real lasting harm." he brightens somewhat as he continues, "However, they managed to imprison both the others in self powered containment tubes!" he glossed over that the example they had was near destroyed and its function a mystery, "If we can figure that out it's only a matter of luring it out and trapping it!" he clapped his book shut and looked expectantly to the scientists waiting for them to do science.

Phalanx kept his own council on the Admirals apparent prejudices. He'd dealt with worse before and would again he was sure. In response to the guards explanations he merely inclined his head in a polite nod and murmured, "Thank you." for the advice. Perhaps Supercape was right and turning hte other cheek was in order. Then again there was something to be said for standing up to injustice before it became tragedy, time would tell if the Admirals sharp tongue would be more than he could bear in stoic silence. He looked about the ship as they passed the gleaming bulkheads and equipment in various states of repair. It seemed odd that they would be taking what seemed like a circuitous rout but he didn't know the ship like these men. Perhaps there was some reason to it beyond his knowledge. None the less he kept alert, it wouldn't do to have an incident while they were guests of the Lor.

Phalanx stood and followed Supercape nodding agreement, it really wouldn't do to cause trouble with an apparently touchy Admiral about matters of station. Especially as it seemed that the Lor had some odd ideas on esprit de corps already. It was his first instinct to just treat the admiral as he would any honored member of one of earths military's but at Supercapes words he noted that there may be some differences of course. He frowned slightly as something stuck out about the suggestions the captain had made, "Why wouldn't we discuss Dark Star I was under the impression he had friends amongst the Lor?" He was growing uncomfortable with this situation it seemed more and more likely that his admiral had some sort of personal issue with Earth and its residents.
