Doktor'd 11/20/2011 Phalanx Buy Accurate attack Feat 1 PP 1 PP remains unspent Edit Powers and tactics to: Powers & Tactics: Mike is a physical powerhouse but usually holds himself back. Since his training at Claremont with Young Freedom his abilities have improved drastically from their untrained state. He is still slow to put the full force of his powers into play but his control now allows him to unleash his full potential when it is most needed. He is always stalwart in defense of his comrades and innocents and takes care to keep collateral damage to a minimum. Phalanx always takes care to keep his strength in check. He will usually open with accurate attacks and against most foes utilize only a fraction of his might so as to make sure he doesn't injure anyone or cause too much damage. OOC he will often utilize less than his full strength bonus on attacks unless he knows the foe can take his full power. Add Complication: Holding Back - Phalanx holds to the genre conventions that you do not open with your most powerful attack. He'll usually pull his early punches and try for non damaging attacks like disarms and grapples until a foe proves too strong or durable at which point he'll begin to ramp up. Doktor'd 11/20/2011

Visual notice increment of 1000 feet. And penetrates concealment vision. Notice check (1d20+9=10) ... Yea. Well I guess he realyl doesn't know what would be unusual activity for a Lor spaceship anyway...

Phalanx stood as the Captain vanished, "hrm. that was rather abrupt." he acknowledged. He glanced around at the other heroes, "Well I don't know about any of you but I really would have difficulty finding that transporter room no less somewhere I've never been." He said with a sigh, "I Imagine they would let us know if our aid was needed?" he suggested hopefully he had had little to no direct interaction with the Lor. He turned his gaze outward as well looking out the window before turning to gaze at the walls with an oddly unfocused look to his eyes as he looked beyond the walls of the conference room and tried to see if he could locate any cause for the alarm nearby in the ship.

"Ah most excellent accommodations." Ace said with a grin as they ascended into the Lab proper, "Always love a good Lab." he mused almost to himself as he poked and prodded absently at things he really most likely shouldn't be poking and prodding at. He watched with a bemused grin as the brains got started on the heavy lifting and moved on to avail himself of the facilities to remove the gunk remaining from his encounter with the creature as well as his somewhat more extended than intended stay in otherspace. Cleanliness achieved he set down at a terminal to go over what research and legends of Atlantis he could access and cross reference with his own experiences therein. As the more scientifically minded concluded their experiments he rubbed absently at his eyes and turned from the terminal blinking myopically, "Well that was more enlightening and less heartening than I might have hoped." he murmured mostly to himself, "So my fine fellows dare I hope you have something enlightening?" he asked curiously, "I found some legends that seem to match up but none particularly useful in finding the thing."

Alright between the both of you you certainly manage to get a pretty complete picture of whats going on here. The Slime seems to interact with the chemical bonds in the normally super durable ceramics used in many atlantean artifacts. There is some portion of this reaction that is taking place outside of normal space-time. It seems likely that this is also a manner in which the creature is able to pass through solid materials, and that the atlantean technology uses some sort of extra dimensional reinforcement to make the ceramic. The slime likely attacks that reinforcement hence why materials wholly of this dimension are largely unaffected. The creature it seems exists in more than one dimension at the same time, likely that is the reason it causes localized fluctuations in space time. With sufficient effort (Ie an invention) a device could be created to pinpoint and/or track the fluctuations and therefore the creature. Possibly even negate some of its ability to hide itself. Ace will take advantage of the Labs libraries to do some research on possible origins of the creature. He'll take 20 for his research while you all are doing your analysis' and grab 5 ranks of appropriate knowledge (in this case arcane) to see what he can discern from atlantean myth and legend. That'll give him a 28 and good enough to get some answers.

With a thunderous crash the large steam bot went crashing to the floor at the expertly applied leverage applied by the powerful golden robots body. Steam and smoke billowed forth in a huge cloud ever so briefly obscuring them and distracting the robots strange commander as Protectrons Cranial unit made its charge! "GAH" Exclaimed the stealthy villain as Protectrons reinforced cranial analog slammed into his back nearly knocking him from his perch above Ironclad. "Meddling Machine you will pay for your insolence!" He exclaimed bombastically, "No one lays hand on the Terrible Doctor TESLA!" With a tiny gesture from it's master the electrified robot across the room turned and fired a searing bolt of electricity towards the bobbing and weaving hover head. The blast went wide sending sparks and arcs flying as it impacted some portion of the machine. The humming grew louder as the panel Ironclad was working on began to spark madly. Whatever reaction he had begun seemed to be accelerating at a much faster pace with whatever damage had been caused

Phalanx observed the briefing with quiet focus listening carefully as he observed the displays trying to cement what he could of the layout into his mind. He looked up to the captain as the discussion drew to a close a question forming as he listened, "I wonder." He inquired, "Is the AI keeping us out or keeping something else in?" He looked curiously around the group, "I mean if there's no fluctuations, no signs of weapons outside the security." He shrugged slightly, "I'm no expert but have we ever seen a preserver prison?"
-
Sounds good. You have as much time as you feel like taking with it. I'll poke in a GM post if your work gets interrupted. that is pretty well what is called for though an Investigation check for analysis is also needed. You can of course take time to take 10/20 on that as well.

I am unless there is anything else you all want to search out in the vicinity.

Phalanx followed quietly behind as the more scientifically minded mused about the possibilities and known factors of this Sedna planet, planetoid, whatever. He took his seat as the breifing looked set to begin and carefully folded his hands in his lap, "Well We're happy to help out." He just hoped this leftover was less dangerous than the only other preserver artifact he'd encountered... Of course if it was anything like the gorgon then they had way bigger problems. He shook his head at the thought. The Lor had been one of the first to warn earth of the Gorgons approach it was doubtful they would be unleashing anything of that nature. Luckily he assumed the Lor knew much more than they probably did and he himself knew substantially less of what technology like the preservers may be capable of.
-
Ace shrugged, "Well yes, but then again representatives of both are likely participating in the inevitable cordon around the museum." He said with a grin, "Speaking of which we really should see if we can get in touch with someone to shut down the security system, the responsible party it seems is unimpeded by even the strongest of walls." He blinked impassively as the little hover thingy spat forth far more information about hydroflouric acid than he really cared to know and looked between the pair of other heroes, "Yes well if this was a tailored creature to attack Atlantean artifacts then it would make sense that it is rather specific in what it melts..." he glanced at his hand in vague concern much after the fact, "Well on the plus side it seems to have no effect on flesh." he noted holding up an unblemished hand, "I suggest we collect samples and take them to the lab." he grinned wide quite pleased with himself, "always wanted a lab..." He mused under his breath.

Reverse area actually. Though I was doing the maths wrong before fixed it though. -
Phalanx looked quizzically at Ironclad's sudden question. It wasn't really something that had occurred to him but given the technology the Lor clearly were in possession of it seemed that they would be able replicate most of what this group brought to the table. Then again galactic politics were a mystery if they were anything like politics on earth it was no surprise that the locals were involved in this research. He did wonder if the whole thing was more political exercise than vital mission but in the end it made little difference, if their aid was required then it would be give whether that be physical or diplomatic. He nodded along witht he others as the discussion began, "What sort of artifacts do you believe are down there?" he inquired. Not having Mark along meant some forknowledge certainly was in order before they dived into this.

The costumed hero Phalanx hadn't worked with the league since the Gorgon invasions, even then he had acted primarily as support in moving material and helping with the refugee situation on Sanctuary. Needless to say he was rather surprised, and slightly disconcerted, to be approached as he finished his shift at the firehouse. He at first was concerned that the well dressed g-man types were from AEGIS or some other government agency, since his childhood in the Astro Labs special school he always was a little worried opinions would turn against him and his fellow 'Terminus Babies'. When he discovered it was instead the freedom league requesting his aid he was quite relieved. The task at hand seemed straightforward enough, at least to his young mind unfamiliar with galactic politics. He was of course happy to help and called in some vacation time to free up his schedule. Suiting up in the blue and gold that had become his trademark he bid a reluctant farewell to his fiance and shot off to Freedom hall taking care to stay subsonic and not cause any damage on the trip. He had seen some of the others in news clips over the past few months and greeted them with a quiet politeness before they were all shuffled off to the transporters and underwent the always disconcerting sensation of being shunted through space-time in a way nature never intended. Stepping off the transport pad he greeted their hosts, "It's a pleasure and an honor Captain. You have a fine ship and I'm sure we all appreciate you going out of your way to come pick us up." he said confidently glad that He'd managed to get a few tips from Mark on how to speak to the Lor before he had to leave.

Phalanx is space worthy and a pretty good ambassador for humanities worthiness.

Which is to say it was awesome. In all honestly though despite whacky steampunk weapons and airships this was I must say the most accurate to the novel rendition of the story I've seen. All in all I found it very entertaining and well worth the ticket price particularly as we were able to take TJ to see it and it resulted in less tears and uncomfortable conversations than a Pixar movie!

Ace takes 10 for a 27 notice to note that the slime is more corrosive to the Atlantean materials than non.
-
Ace quirked a brow at the admonishment, "Yes well contrary to popular belief extra dimensional slime of unknown property is not really my bag." he replied sardonically as he pulled a kerchief from his pocket to clean the slime from his hand with a look of distaste. "Only other store houses of significance are under better guard than here regardless." he explained with a shrug, "Freedom Hall has some relics from thier encounters and the researchers on star Island as well but the league and Aegis have those under guard. the ones here were largely thought to be inert or artistic rather than useable or dangerous though its hard to say how particular that ... thing is." He began to wander back to the main room where so much destruction had already been wrought and nudged the now smoldering pile of wrecked artifacts with one Italian leather sheathed foot. "Looks like more residue here, and it seems to be eating away at the material more than it was the walls." he opined curiously.

Ironclad found herself amidst a twisting maze of cables and valves of improbable design. None of it made complete sense almost like some kind of escher drawing of a control panel now. It took several moments but she was able to identify most of what she saw though the telegraph and series of valves on hot pipes seemed utterly baffling. She began the shut down procedures though with the modifications to the terminal that had been made it was taking her longer than she had anticipated. On the central floor one of the remaining towering behemoths belched forth another blazing bot arcing perfectly towards Protectrons body. At the same time His head finally found the controller of these irascible automatons. Crouching as he climbed over the pipes encircling the control room he was clearly aiming to get the jump on the distracted Ironclad. He was well dressed as if a victorian gentleman, but with whirligig clockworks and arcing electricity accenting the anachronistic antagonist.

Large Bot three is going to take a shot at Protectron Attack Roll (1d20+5=24) That'll hit DC 30 Toughness save.
