  1. Mike looked back to the group and nodded agreement with Chris, "Well if any one can break through that its you right?" Mike also like to think Hellion had, well, A clue, but whatever. He smiled once more to Erin, "Well you're my go to girl for girl questions I can't ask Alex." He seemed to think this would be appeasing in some fashion rather than awkward like it sounded when it left his mouth he grimaced slightly and shrugged. He glanced at Alex and thought to her, "You Ok? If you wanna leave we can just go."
  2. Mike frowned at both of them not liking threats idle or otherwise and completely confused what had Alex in such a foul mood today. He turned and laid one big hand on eddies shoulder with a grimace, "Just watch it when it comes to Zoe." He wanted to say more but didn't really have the words so instead turned to Erin with a smile, "Well you do. I mean don't you?"
  3. Mike nodded agreement, "I dunno, Mark doesn't really conceive of things not working out well." He offered with a shrug. "I still think someone needs to explain Mark to faith, I mean I guess she might blow it off as jealous ex stuff," He chuckled lightly at that, "From you Alex, Maybe Erin? She kinda speaks girl." He looked around to the others questioningly.

    Phalanx

Teen Hero exclusive interview with the enigmatic Phalanx of Young Freedom in this special charity edition of Teen Hero*. Sorry girls its a phone interview No Pics this time. TH: Thanks for talking to us Phalanx we're huge fans here at Teen Hero. P: Uhhm thanks, Its for a good cause and all. TH: So you're a Native Fredomite How has that effected your choice to become a hero? P: Well its kinda natural I guess. I mean living in Freedom you see everyday the difference one person can make. I Just want to do my part. TH: Many of our fans find you and your teammates to be some of the hottest young heroes around. How do you feel about being a sex symbol? P: Ed. I Can almost hear the blushing SOOOOO Cute. Uh well uhm ... I dunno about that really. I've heard we made some list in your magazine but to be honest I don't follow those things too closely ... Yea I think that's more the other guys thing anyway. TH: Well what makes you stand out on the team personality-wise then? P: Well we really focus more on the team than any individuals I'd say I tend to be one of the more cautious and thoughtful team members but if theres one thing I've learned is there is definitely room for action over words in this business. TH: So about the 'Business', What motivates you to go out and do all of this? P: *Laughs* That's something I struggled with for a long time actually. But when it comes down to it when you can make a difference, you don't really have a choice not to. I mean I guess I could just sit at home and try for the normal life but when it comes down to it Idon't think I could stand by and do nothing while I can help people who need it. TH: What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses? P: My friends? *Laughs* Seriously though I think that they really are what keeps me going some days. Knowing that they understand why we do what we do. But they aren't a weakness at all, even when they do cause trouble. I can be overcautious sometimes hesitate when i should act. Its taken alot for me to realize that weakness but now its something I work on. TH: What do you love? Hate? P: Hmmm well I mean that's pretty broad. Skipping the easy out of freedom and tyranny respectively ... Well I love flying. Its incredible and I'm very lucky to be able to. I really really do hate bullies. I mean criminals and those types count but there's plenty of people who use their power to push weaker people around. I can't stand that kind of stuff. TH: Ok now for the real low down. Some people say that even with all the power that heroes like yourself command you have to be a little crazy to do what you do what do you think about that? P: Thats probably true in a way. Even with al our powers it is very dangerous. I think the question is can you live with the alternative? Personally I can't just stand by so that might be a kind of crazy but not one I'd ever want to change. TH: What does you fear the most? P: I used to be really afraid of myself actually. Of what I can do. Now I know that I'll do everything I can to do right by people and protect them. I sometimes worry what happens when it isn't enough but I wouldn't say I fear it. TH: What is you greatest ambition? P: *Laughs* I still don't even know what I want to be when I grow up. I guess i'd really like to be remembered well at the end of it all but that's kinda morbid really. TH: How does you feel about the state of the world today? P: Ya know its imperfect but there are good people trying to make it better everyday, will that ever really come to an end? I dunno I'm not much for philosophy all I know is I want to make it better however I can. TH: Does you think you have any prejudices? How do you get along with others? P: Erm well I certainly try not to have any prejudices. I dunno I don't really get along well with the types who think that they can cow the criminal element into flying the straight and narrow but they probably think I'm hopelessly optimistic. TH: Who are you most loyal too? No this isn't a sneaky throwback to Moore era policies. P: *Laughs* Well I would say there are a few special people who hold my loyalty above almost all else, But I'm not gonna name names. there's the Team of course as well and I mean I'm Proud to be an American and everything of course, but I don't really follow politics too closely. TH: So is there any special lady in your life? P: Yes. TH: Details? P: She's a very special person, I don't want to say too much though. TH: What about you're family how do they feel about all of this? P: They are very supportive. Of course they worry, but they know why I have to do this. TH: How would the people closest to you describe you? P: I think overall the opinion would be I need to lighten up some ... Possibly alot *Laughs* TH: Are you a role model? P: I try to be a good one. I know people are naturally going to look up to someone with my powers I just hope to provide an example to them all. TH: Are you religious? P: Well I was raised to believe in doing right, love thy neighbor and all that. I think that's definitely had an impact on who I am today but I don't know about religious per se. Of course I have met an angel so ... TH: So tell us about Young Freedom. P: Well the whole team thing happened really quickly. We just all stepped up to handle a situation and it went really well. I have some good friends there and we can do alot of good even though we are less experienced than some heroes. TH: How do you feel about the place of metahumans and aliens on Earth? P: People are people no matter how special or powerful or where they come from its who they are inside and what they do with what they have that makes the person. TH: If you could give one piece of advice to our readers, what would it be? P: Look at what you do with your day and ask yourself, 'Could I be doing more?' Don't hold back from what you really care about and try to make a little difference everyday. *All Proceeds donated to the Rhodes Foundation Charitable Trust
  7. Mike frowned at her tone not entirely certain why she was so vehement about the issue. He supposed she just didn't want to see Faith get hurt, "Well maybe someone should try and warn Faith about Marks uhm ... way of doing things?" He glanced to Alex questioningly then to Eddie uncertain if he was way off base. "Or I guess I could try and talk to Mark but..." He paused not sure what more to say Marks world view was not an easy thing to overcome conversationally.
  8. Well the same basic principle could be applied to any power can you down rank it to remove a flaw on the fly? Well Easy/hard to lose is basically a limited flaw. If you can remove or reduce the severity of a flaw when its most likely to effect you it seems that could be a problem. This is particularly true in the case of VPs which can be very useful even when not used at full power.
  9. Looks good to me and I recommend somewhere else be midtown or city center
  10. stone is toughness 5 per inch of material quote And he only stops if he doesn't blast a hole throught the stone so it woudl have to save too and if he busts a hole he keeps going.
  11. The Blast broke over Phalanx scoring a rippled line along his costume but leaving the teen unscathed. "Very well have it your way then." He intoned and his hand snaked out to wrap the whip wielding teen in its vise like grip quickly subduing the lunatic. Phalanx lifted the other teen over his head and spun him once before hurling him into the villain who had fired at him with all of his potent strength.
  12. Toughness Save (1d20+17=35) no damage Alright Free action to set Super strength to 9 ranks total 10 ranks All out attack on Zealot (Defense drops to +1) Attack roll to initiate grapple (1d20+14=15) ... HP that: HP Reroll attack roll (1d20+14=34) Grapple check: Grapple Check (1d20+44=46) I'm pretty sure that's impossible for zealot to beat anyway. Choose to pin then throw him at emperor as a move action: Power attack Roll to hit with improvised Religious nut (1d20+14=31) Erm forgot to factor the power attack in that would drop it to a +9 = 26, Still a hit. DC 35 Toughness saves.
  13. On the first I'm not sure. Standardly when you have two arrays with the same power in them you can stack the power (Within caps, IE a blast 5 and a blast 5 in two arrays both active at once could be a blast 10) On the other hand this seems more like a boost effect where you boost the power of the other device using your gadget. Balance wise I don't really see an issue with it and I think a shape-shifter should be able to add impervious to their non VP protection if they want so it seems balance to me. As for the second I think the question also needs be made if the inverse is true. Right now Ace has gadgets 1 hard to lose as its stuff he hides on his person. Many of the objects are hand held when actually manifested and I took a complication to represent them being disarmable. Should I instead be able to switch it to being Easy to lose and have 6pp in the VP instead of 5? Not out and out saying it's imbalanced but it makes me a little nervous to be able to switch from easy to hard to lose and back.
  14. Ah I hadn't realized that if its not too late I'd like to get Ace into a thread like that then.
  15. I'd like to have Phalanx working with Young Freedom if possible. Also I was wondering if I could explain Ace not being in the battle (Where he's nigh useless) because he's rooting out Grue infiltrators all superspy like elsewhere?
  16. Another quick point with stealth is that if you are using stealth you need to have cover VS. that sense type to use it. So if you don't have cover VS. Smell or mental senses or whatever you can't use stealth, Or a sense with penetrates concealment (X-ray vision). HiPS of course removes this restriction so you can use stealth regardless of cover.
  17. Mike looked somewhat confused to Faith, he'd have thought that by now she would have realized that planning and waiting were not really Marks strong suit. He shrugged maybe she was the one and he would change for her. "I dunno Mark its usually pretty good but..." He trailed off as he poked at the gray brown chunk under the thick 'gravy' "I dunno about today."
  18. Mike looked to Eddie, "Well I haven't known him much longer but I'm pretty sure the answer would be yes." He shrugged, "He handles girls the same way he does everything else I guess is te best way to say it. I just hope she can see that too before it gets ... messy." He blushes slightly and glances around as he thinks about the awkwardness till between Mark and Zarana. His gaze settled once more on Alex and his blush deepened slightly as he realized he was staring and he tore his eyes away.
  19. Ace looked up covering the microphone as he shook his head, "Put her in the ground already? Most certainly not not until we are sure ..." He trailed off as he seemed to get some kind of response from the other end of the phone he nodded, "Keep looking." he replied and covered the mic once more, "I wouldn't count her out yet." It was hard to say if Ace was merely covering for his grief with this mad talk or if he had some real reason to believe she would return to life. "HAHA, SEE!" he let out a mad cackle as he noted the roots seeking sustenance, "Absorbing a full grown mankana can do odd things to a person after all."
  20. Ace smirked, "Oh I dunno cap I think we might just be able to work something out." He replied in a hushed tone, "You tell me what I want to know and I'll make sure your 'comrades' don't find out you helped us." He paused to let that sink in for a moment, "Otherwise I think I'll have to let them know how very very helpful you have been. Besides with them out of the way more for you back home right?" He could only hope the captain missteped again and revealed why they left the dimension they already ruled in the first place. He glanced to Archeville and Dark Star "Can one of you get this piece of garbage back where he belongs?" He let the threat of Thunder returning home a failure and likely traitor hang in the air as he looked back to the malevolent electric powerhouse.
  21. Mike smiled at the question clearly having telegraphed his own thoughts. "There is a curfew." He replied. As they turned to begin the tour, "And you're not allowed in the girls dorms after dark." He added remembering one of his rare deviations from the rules and its aftermath. "But some activities the headmaster looks the other way about as long as you don't push it too far." He was somewhat nervous discussing his and his friends extra curricular activities out in the open like this even if ti was pretty common knowledge around the school.
  22. Alright with a 27 you can gather a slightly more complete list. there are about 2 things that haven't made it into the papers that were stolen, the rest you already knew and didn't really understand what they were. The two things you hear about are: An attack on Star Island, the thieves were able to infiltrate the base and make off with salvage from a downed alien ship. Supposedly some kind of teleportation device but details are hazy. The FCPD has lost some restricted evidence, Samples of Fear masters gas and Pheromones used by Luna moth. this is very hush hush. Rumor has it the DA walked in to check out the evidence and walked out with it. However the DA was in court at the time. Also and far more telling there has been no poking around the usual fences and other underworld types who would set up sales of this kinda stuff for any of the stolen goods.
  23. Mike laughed remembering Eddies less than stellar first impression with the headmaster, "Skip the cafeteria on leftover day?" he offered off hand. He smiled down at the new student, "Its really pretty much a normal school with some extra programs that's all, nothing all that unusual." Not that Mike really had any claim to knowledge of 'Normal' regarding school or much else but it seemed normal enough to him. He shrugged, "Mr. Summers can come off pretty strict but he does it to keep us and everyone else safe. HE really lets us get away with alot more than you'd think." His eyes drifted upwards as his thoughts ran to Chris's nightly excursions.
  24. You know some of what was stolen but not all. Its alot of overall. Gather info rolls could get you more information with a high enough roll.
  25. Ok you're running up against three problems with that concept actually some are fair some are just our knee jerk reactions to the horrible things that have been done before, some are in between. Problem One is her age. We do have a rule keeping the minimum age to 16 (as mentioned quark was approved older and many of us feel that may have been in error). This rule is definitely limiting but it is there for a reason. The core reasons are those that have been pointed out to you. Squick over hitting kids, as well as over underage sex that as you heard did sneak in even with the rule in place. You of course have ways around this and wouldn't do this. However we can't know that and unfortunately due to other peoples actions we find that its safer for us just to disallow this whole category of heroes rather than risk it. Its not about you per se but a general case so that we don't get into "But player X got too." whining. Also as this is the internet there are assumptions made by the general populace when people are playing young characters that we don't want the site associated with. Really its risk management and thats why we are unlikely to make an exception. Secondly Anime reactionism. Its not fair at all but mention an anime/manga concept and the majority of players/refs roll their eyes stick their noses in the air thinking "Oh one of 'those' kinds of characters." Anime has plenty of perfectly valid concepts to mine for western comics but all to often the fans try to play a straight up anime character and it just doesn't work in the FC verse. Just leaving it as Captain Marvel but a girl would have probably gotten you further. Lastly, and this was covered somewhat, We had a bad experience. Even with our limitations we had some people play with some exceptionally wrong ideas in the chatroom and that has left us over cautious. Just a little further explanation. I'll add the confrontational attitude of your post doesn't help your case much either ;)
