Mike walked up to Dark Star as the class dispersed, "That was an amazing trip, Sir." He said, "Thank you." He paused for a few moments before adding, "I also wanted to thank you again for your talk the other day its put alot of things in perspective." Then with a nervous wave he turned back to rejoin his friends and fellow students as they expounded on the amazing journey they had just returned from.

Mike looked to Erin the concern clear on his face. The last thing he wanted was for this whole debacle to lead to another of his friends feeling hurt. He offered a weak smile, "I'm sorry I misunderstood." He said wrestling with what to say, "If we can still be friends I'd realy like that. And for what its worth, if things were different ..." He didn't really know how to finish the thought but hoped his point got across anyway. "You are wrong about one thing though." Mike said with a gentle smile, "You aren't nearly as messed up as you say." He nodded confidently, "And any guy would be lucky to have a shot with you. I know I felt like I was, or am or ..." Mike trailed off uncertain how to explain and shrugged his wide shoulders. "We'll deffinately have to finish that game though." He added, not wanting to dwell on the subject that made her so uncomfortable, and letting her choose where she wanted to take the conversation.

Mike slowly nodded as she spoke, he caught that she was uncomfortable and given the subject that was understandable. Finally he replied, "Ok, I'd like that." So it had just been for show. That was easier in a way, certainly easier than havign to try and break up so he could date her roommate that would just be awkward, and he appreciated her not just shooting him down and telling him he was acting like the idiot he aparently had been. He smiled congenially, "And thanks for playing along and not makeing me feel like more of a fool." Mike added warmly, "Your a good friend Erin." He reached out gingerly to pat her knee, "I don't think theres alot of people that'd do that kinda thing, certainly not many that would for me."

Mike nodded, "Yea I can see that I guess." It made a kind of sense and was certainly less embarassing than just plain being out of touch. He flashed Erin one of his rare smiles, "Yea, what to do about it is the question." He said somewhat distracted by the options for a moment. "Actually," He said refocusing on Erin, "Thats part of why I wanted to talk to you." Mike chewed his lip for a moment, He was rather uncertain how to broach the subject as if she knew all along then James was probably right and she hadn't really thought of their thing as a date and certainly not as dating right? He paused as that series of thoughts ran its course, "So where do we stand then?"

Mike shifted uncomfortably, it wasn't the first time the fact that everyone else knew had come up but the fact that most of his friends seemed to know better than he did how he flet was a little embarrasing. "Well not quite everyone else." HE said looking away, "I didn't really realize until I had calmed down and tried to figure out what had made it so easy for her to set me off like that." He looked back at Erin awkwardly, "You saw it too then?"

Mike shook his head, "Like you have to ask. I mean whats the worst that can happen we get damned to an eternity in hell? Can't be worse than another session with Archer right?" He joked, gallows humor wasn't Mikes usual thing but it was the kind of thing James woudl have said so it seemed fitting.

"Not really. No matter how many people say I shouldn't feel bad I just got played it doesn't change the fact that I lost it like that. You know how serious that can be." He replied hopeing she understood what he meant. "The reasons for the games may have been about Daisy and Bolt and Mark but what actually happened was about me and moreover my connection with Alex." He explained and paused trying to guage Erins reaction, he had pointed out what to him at least was the elephant in the room.

"Well," Mike sighed, "I'm coming to terms with it all. there certainyl could have been better ways to learn what was up but I hope I didn't do any permanent harm." It was clear that he wasn't talking about the physical realm when he spoke but to Mike it was just as bad either way. "Don't worry about it though, it wasn't your secret to tell." He offered amiably. "In the end though that was all less about Zoe than about me, and to a lesser extent Alex and Mark."

Mike sat gingerly in Alexes chair and nodded, "Yea I suppose it is, but not too bad yet." He replied with a slight frown. Smalltalk wasn't really Erins style, her attempt could be at the behest of Dr. Marquez but as it wasn't her style to follow those suggestions either he assumed it was to cover for some discomfort. He supposed plain talk was best in a way but didn't want to sound too cliche. He settled on moving towards th subject at hand more obliquely. "You doing alright after the big hoorah in the quad?" He inquired curiously.

Ace grinned and replied, "That sounds like my kind of girl." as he returned Grims hug. As he disenganged he winked, "Jack loved the look, wished he could pull it off but you know." He ended with a sarcastic shrug. Ace glanced to Taylor, "So you want the next shot at glory or shall we serenade you further?"

Mike smiled, "I know." He replied, "I actually wanted to see you." He glanced at the desk, "If you're not too busy at least." He added questioningly. He wasn't quite so slow as to have not realized that Erins normally demanding schedual had become downright grueling when it came to events he was likely to be attending. He hoped he hadn't waited too long to have this talk and inadvertantly hurt her feelings. "You mind if I come in?"

The man was clearly missing a leg though through the ragged clothes one couldn't tell exactly how fresh the injury was nor its full extent. He withdrew slightly at Atlas' approach and stammered, "N-Nuthin," His eyes shot to Atlas' compaions, "Least not yet. But I ain't tol no one what be down here, I know ta keep me hed down." He added defensively. A few of the other lost souls in the area glanced over and scrabbled further back into their hidey holes trying not to bear witnes to whatever was about to happen.

Not really one to wait once his mind was made up Mike made his way to the girls dorm after he finished up his chat with James. He was glad his friend had been able to clarify some things to him but wasn't completely sure he was right about what Erin thought. Then again it may have just been his own perceptions that were skewed. After all it had been but one date and an unorthodox one at that. When he arrived at Erins room he gently knocked hoping she'd be home. He knew Alex had class so it woudl be a good chance for them to talk without outside ears if she was.

Phalanx and Wander have an awkward chat ending the almost relationship.

Did you want to run a full debrief or just do a couple posts to finish this out?

I've seen some ATT builds that use a system like that set to restore an array. Putting the fades flaw on the array and then a restoritive boost (array) on another power usually a drain. I've seen it done with out the fades where you start with a small array and just boost it but that has always seemed messy

Ace dutifully if with no small difficulty refrained from commenting on Jacks performance. "Don't worry about it Derrick." He said relishing his friend and comrade being solid as he clapped him on the back, "We can show em how its doen when you're ready." As Lynn entered he flashed her a dazling smile, "Well hello there." He said as he strode across the room still in character. "Vince Farretti," He said leaning in closer, "Quite daring showing up the guest of honor at her own party." He admonished flirtatously. He didn't look anything like the Ace she knew and had worked with but under the smell of new leather and exhaust fumes were the delicate notes of the man himself.

Ace made the call while they got to a more defensible position, just in case the remaining Yellow Kings got brave all of a sudden. It didn't take long for hte first officers to arrive and within 15 minute the chief himself arrived to survey the situation. The girls were whisked away in an ambulance and for observation. "Cheif!" Ace exclaimed and gave the man a hearty handshake, "Your man Colt here is a very efficiant young man."

"Well, I would say its the girls lucky day then." Ace replied with a winck as they quickly exited the building. The street was empty when they emerged into the almost too bright sunlight. This wasn't the kind of neighborhood that called hte cops for gunfire and the natives had made themselve scarce. "Should we call in the calvery or can your bike get us all out of here?" Ace asked.

Ace does not have handcuffs but I'll stunt em off his Equipment array so no ninja tricks for now ;)

The girls looked dazed and uncertain but slowly nodded in response to Colts question. Clearly the after effects of whatever kind of control he had them under hadn't faded completely. Ace pulled a pair of finely crafted manacles from his belt and tossed them to Colt. "Glad I grabbed those this morning." He said with a smile then turned to check on the wounded womangently gathering her into his arms, "We should get moving before some fool gets it in his head to try and save this guy." He said as he headed for the door.

PL caps make alot of feats that make good sense in a normal d20 game (Which is what most feas were raided from) awful. Those three are amazing examples of just that. The other reason is that alot of the design of M&M actaully foolishly assumes that you will not build to caps in which case those feats can become good but only in comparison with someone who also built well below caps. Look at the pre gen archetypes particularly in the main book. They are routinely under caps. However no one with any sense builds below caps (OUtside of very specific concepts that are basically Lower PL but with more PP.)

Ace will use inspire to give the girls a +5 to thier will saves (and all other checks, Colt gets it too) This allows them when the next check is forced to break the mind control.
