  1. Mike squeezed her hand and smiled wide, "Well maybe not this far out, but I guess you're right." The posibilities however were there. "Now I just gotta figure out his trick with this bubble so I can take some friends along." He added with a small laugh.
  2. Mike shrugged non-commitally he thought it was worth a try but wasn't gonna push. He grinned when she asked what it was like, "It kinda is but its different at the same time, its like you're falling in all directions at once kinda I guess." He tried to explain it but it was tough for him, used to flight since birth, to explain without the obvious comparison.
  3. Mike tried to tone back his exuberance but it showed through none the less as he spoke, "Well he's able to project some kind of field that protects and carries us with him. So he took us out to show us first hand the different parts of the solar system." Mike smiled, "You should see if they'll let you transfer, if I can handle it I'm sure you'll do fine." he said confidently. "I mean theres no way I woudl normally remember or probably even care what the Oort cloud is but he certainly makes it interesting."
  4. Mike let out a heavy sigh, "Classes aren't really my area of expertise." He said with an exangerated grimmace, "But I guess its thier place to bore us to tears right? Thats how you know you're learning." He paused and brightend, "But Dark Stars," He paused thoughtfully for a moment, "Mr. Dark Star? Anyway, His class was amazing." Mike leaned in and continued in a low whisper, "He took us into Space!" it had clearly been the highlight of the year so far for Mike.
  5. Mike nodded, "I dunno all the T.V. shows make out cafeteria food to be awful and the stuff at school isn't bad. Might be the private school thing though." he said with a shrug. "We always brown bagged it before now so I don't really have much to compare it too." Mike added, and tentitively tried the Milkshake dip, from the expression on his face clearly not to his taste. "Hmm," He murmured, "Must be an aquired taste."
  6. Mike shrugged in response, "Yea, she is, I don't get it myself to be honest." he replied. The Waitress came with their shakes and a platter heaped high with assorted deep fried food. Mike thanked the waitress and took a long sip from the thick shake. "The school food seems pretty good I guess, I mean its a little bland at times but pretty good. My mom tries hard so even the more out there diets didn't taste bad exactly." He gestured at the platter, "they just lacked a degree of being deep fried." He smiled and took a fried mozarella stick from the platter. "Feel free." He said indicating the platter, "Fried is the fifth food group you know." He knew Erin didn't eat much in general but was never sure how much of that was lack of appetite and how much was not wanting to impose.
  7. Mike listened with intrest as she talked about her home town. "That must've been neat." He said, "I suppose it is a more west coast kinda thing, never been out of state myself." He rolled his eyes as he thought about his mothers latest fad. "Some kinda whole grain low gluten thing, supposed to prevent alzhiemers or something. Mrs. Renynolds was one of her oldest customers and just had to move into a home cus of it and it freaked my mom out something feirce." He explained.
  8. Mike shrugged and laughed a little bit, "I dunno I don't buy into it myself but that was her explanation, I think its about hte conditions rather than the miking itself." He approached a booth and took his seat after Erin, "She's tried lots of stuff usually some kind of vegitarian or semi-vegitarian thing. We were all Pescatarians for about six months, then she read about fish farms." Mike explained his mothers ecentricities with the accepting air of someone who recognized how crazy it all was but without malice. When the waitress approached he ordered a sampler platter and shakes for both of them inquireing as to Erins favored flavor as he did so. As the waitress hustled off to fill their order he continued, "Mom always has some new thing or another, but its all from the heart you know."
  9. As Angel and Hellion wrapped up thier business more gruards could be seen comeing from the direction of the house. Ace quickly made his way to them and gestureing to towards the south wall shouted, "They went that way, over the wall." As the bamboozled guards headed to the wal and for exits to acces the areas beyond Ace approached Angel and Hellion, "Well we should get back to the party then." He said with a slight smile, "From the looks of things thier quarry has gotten loose to terrorize them in the future and theres the debut dance about to start."
  10. We'll say that works We are out of combat (unless some one insists on more punching) though I still need the DC 22 toughness check from Angel.
  11. The main book doesn't specify what senses Stealth works against and I've heard it said that it works against all senses. However the masterminds manual section on Stealth Specialties (PG. 35) suggests that stealth is normally only applicable against vision and hearing (which makes a certain amount of sense given that stealth is just D20 Hide and Move Silently crammed into one skill) Stealth also normally requires cover to function (HiPS notwithstanding) does a sense with penetrates concelment defeat stealth as there is no cover or concealment from said sense? Finally what counts as cover/concelment form non-visual senses particularly from mental or radio senses that logically would pierce normal walls and ignore shadows etc.
  12. Mike quickly pulled his hand back when he realized it had drifted from her waits to her hip and was glad for the opportunity to cover for it with conversation. "Yea its pretty good stuff." He said, "Normal dinner fare but done well, and they do real milkshakes too." He led her around to the front and held the door for her as they entered the restauraunt. He leaned in and added conspiritorily, "My Mom doesn't do dairy, says its cruel to the cows so we only got soy stuff at home."
  13. I know some of these are allowed but not specifically which ones. Heres a few I was wondering about. Improved Distract: Distract as a move action. Improved Taunt Improved Feint Fast Stealth Combat Diplomacy Mass Intimidate: Moreover if this would apply to the demorilize function of Intimidate and if so could a similar effect be applied to taunt? Also following that line of thought what about Mass Bluff as applied to Feint (Used either with set-up or for a targeted AoE or autofire attack) Seems overpowered at first glance but the Challenge feat only reduces the penalty by 5 so you will get a penalty if used on several opponants still. Durable Lie: would this apply to feint or taunt? extending how long a person believes your bluff for a round out of combat doesn't seem useful.
  14. Mike shook his head, "They were actually pretty secrative about it overall. I think they just gave warnings without real details, like we'ed been exposed and no one knew if it caused cancer or something." He wasn't upset of the way things had gone but it didn't sit well with him all the lies they had used to cover up what was going on. He shook his head again focusing on the present, "Anyway this isn't that close to the house so word didn't travel this far or anything as far as I know. They never treated me any different at least." Mike let out a genuine smile at her commentary on flying, "Yea its deffinately my favorite part of all this." He said as he looked over at her again, "If you want, I can take you on an aerial tour of the city sometime. It's an awesome view on a clear night." Mike angled down and soon the ground rapidly approached, Mike setting down gently in a clear area behind the dinner. After he settled his feet to the ground he gently lowered Erin the last few inches keeping a stabalizing hand on her hip until he was sure she was stable.
  15. We want to just cut to montage? Seems like this is stumpping ya'all.
  16. DC 22 toughness save needed from angel. Hellion is up.
  17. The frightened enforcer did as he was told and stayed put glancing in vague fright at the toppled giant and the heroes who had downed him. The mobster was not so civil screaming, "Get off me you crazy bitch!" as he aimed a vicious kick at angels face as he scrambled to his feet.

  19. Mike looked around in awe at the splendor layed out before them. He tried hard to listen to Dark Stars lecture but it was hard to pay attention to anything else with all the wonders he was showing them. He turned to Alex and said, "Just think a year ago we needed forms in triplicate just to leave the city."
  20. Ace flashed the young ladies a winning smile, "Well I've slowed some but, I could strip and clean my sidearm in under a minute in my day." he said as he moved to the refreshment table to ring a small bell. Shortly another of his staff arrived and after a moment of quick discussion nodded and left. "Harold will bring a few exemplars for you to practice on but I can show you a few of the basics." explained Ace as he turned back to the girls. He pointed his index finger in every childs approximation of a pistol to explain, "The safety is a key element, while engaged the weapon will not fire, it is almost always located near the trigger. It does however vary from model to model as to which position is locked. If you have time examination will usually reveal what position will engage the safety." Harold returned with a cart loaded with a few firearms of assorted size. Ace thanked him and excused him before continueing the demonstration. "Most firearms you will encounter will be one of three types; Revolver, Magazine, or Single Shot." As he spoke he held an example of each aloft to show the obvious differences. "Revolvers have a catch to release the drum once opened gravity will drop the cartriges for you if you point the weapon upwards." He set the revolver down and moved on to a double barrel shotgun, "Single shot is more varied but essentially holds one shot prepared for fireing, some like this one break open at the breach some are bolt action. Either way since it is a single shot the most effective and quickest way to unload it is to fire into the ground, never up Newton was right about some things." "Finally," Ace said hefting a semi automatic pistol, "there is the magazine it will be either internal or external such as this one. Most external will be disengaged by a clip somewhere on the magazine that allows it to drop out. The important thing to remember is that there will be one bullet left in the chamber. that can be fired into the ground or if you are familliar with the model ejected by uncocking the weapon properly." He finished by showing them how to do so on the model he held. "Internal magazines are rare but you essentialy do the same thing until amunition no longer comes out." He finally explained before gestureing for them to experement for themselves, "None of them are loaded but feel free to familiarize yourself."
  21. Mike nodded, "Well who knows if other things might have changed after that but I can see your point." he replied. At her suggestion Mike laughed, "Well I'm no expert either and besides I asked because I wanted to ask you." he said blushing slightly. He dropped it at that though somewhat embarrased himself. He nodded replying to her question about the diner, "I used to go for like snacks or a drink once or twice a week, my dad and I used to stop in on days my mom was working late to cheat on her latest diet scheme. Haven't been since I came to the school though."
  22. Mike glanced over for a second, "I don't know about that." He said, "I'm no expert on multi-inter-dimensional whatever, but I don't think the Erin from here is you without what happened." Mike Sqeezed her slightly in a comforting way, "You are who you are for more than whats happened, theres no saying that this worlds Erin would have made it even if she did get powers like yours. You're not some clone or something." He paused to look and see if he had touched a sore spot as he continued, "What did you want to be before?" he asked.
  23. Mike was slightly stumped by the question. Without a doubt it was something he thought about alot but really he had no idea what it was like to be normal. He shrugged and flashed his shy half smile, "I dunno, I think I'd like to do something like constrction or more like carpentry I guess, you know build things leave somethign lasting." He paused whistfully and chuckled, "When I was a little kid I wanted to be a fireman, get to ride around in the truck and put out fires, help people ..." he trailed off for a moment and shrugged, "But you know they have to pass a physical and stuff." He left unsaid the numerous issues with that give his present condition. He gently slowly slid a nahd around her waist and with a smile buoyed them aloft, taking it slow, well slow compared to his top speed, so they coudl chat as he flew them over the city. "What about you?" He asked curiously.
  24. Ace simply inclined his head, his indolent posture never shifting but the glittering smile he flashed showed those perfect teeth. Jack, at least, had seen that smile before, and knew it represented Ace at his most dangerous. "And, what exactly then do you presume to know about me? If you'd like to trade war stories, I'm more than happy to carve some time into my schedual. If this is just a chance to bluster and blow some steam off, please have at." Ace spread his arms wide as he spoke, inviting the hero to take what shots he'd like, "Make me the enemy, if you'd rather. I daresay I can take it. After all, I've died for worse reasons." Ace's smile fell away like the mask it was, "You'll only be proving my point. I gave you advice from my own experience - experience that I assure I have in spades - if you chose to reject it, so be it - but calling me a coward only makes you look the fool."
  25. Mike nodded agreement to her comentary on the noise, "My Dads a copy editor at the Ledger, I got to go into work with him a couple times its a neat place but not as exciteing as the movies make it out to be." He said as he shrugged, few things were really. He sighed lightly as he moved on to his mother, "Mom the general manager of the Food Bin and Herb Room, its a little organic healthfood store near where we live. Dad says she spent so much time there they had to give her a job eventually, she's really into all that stuff." Mike was feeling like he was monopolizing the conversation again but didn't want to pry into her past, he knew it was hard for her to talk about. As the elevator door slid open he glanced down at Erin, "But I suppose almost any job sounds more exciting than it actually is ... well maybe not accounting."
