Ace nodded, "Well then," He said with a pleased smile, "I think I have some ideas that may be of aid." He stepped behind Stesha and Slowly wrapped one arm around her not tight but firmly in a clasic villian with a hostage pose. "So while inefficient at best this hold is common and more difficult to escape than is apparent at first glance though not beyond either of your skill." Releasing Stesha he turned to Taylor, "Since I seem to distract you I think we'll have you ans Stesha take turns as aggressor and defender," He flashed a Taylor a teasing smile, "If you think you can keep your wits about you enough not to just phase loose."

The Brute was hardened against the scare tactics common in the mafia hierarchy but the Avenging darkness that flung itself at him was something else entirely. Clearly shaken he took the blow to the face and crumpled slightly sagging in the grip of Phantoms shadowy tendrils clearly fighting for conciousness. Across the garden the remaining Enfourcer dropped his weapon and raised his hands in surrender the odds too far against him. The mobster who had been wrestling Angel gets his feet under him and cursing his underlings cowardice tries to flee into the lot hoping these heroes will not follow.

OOC thread for Cool Air, where we do the rolling if Erin decides to hit first answer questions later ;)

It had been a hard practice session, not Archers usual mind games for which Mike was gratefull but they had really pushed him to the limit of his abilities this time. He'd been able to keep up but barely and it had been exhausting. The more physical workout had given him some time to think however and he had made some realizations. He was not ever really going to be one of the hip kids like Mark or Chris or Eddie, and really trying to emulate them obviously wasn't cutting it. So back to basics and he'd see where things went. Which was why instead of heading directly to the gym for a cooldown and then the showers he was waiting in the hall to the doom room while they reset. He knew Erin was next and usually was at least a little ahead of schedual so it seemed as good a time as any to talk to her. So he waited towel around his neck to ask out Young Freedoms prickliest member this time without the borrowed pretense.

The screech of the malfunctioning Black Hole Projector reached a fever pitch as Dark Star opened the portal. The vacume of deep space quickly siphoning the air from the room then the entire compound. Just as the device crossed the horizn of the portal it imploded in upon itself, an unstable black hole springing into existance just where the portal opened. The intense gravity of the black hole left Dark Star and Phantom uneffected but the base collapsed around them in the seconds it took Dark Star to close the portal. To those out side the view was far more grim. Threre was a sudden howling wind rushing in every door of the facility and then in the blink of an eye the entire building crumbled collapsing inward in eerie silence leaveing an odd perfectly flat expanse of exposed earth where the building once stood, with the shadowy forms of Phantom and Dark Star hovering above.

The whine of the malfunctioning machine was getting more shrill and the holding chamber began to spark and smoke as alarms sounded throughout the base a digitized voice calling for immediate evacuation of all personel in several languages. Dark Star could feel the tug of the gravtic energies as they began to slip out of control inside the machines containment unit, there wasn't much time to spare.

Ok since his Nullify(teleport) effect is still up on the base you need to make an opposed powercheck to activate your portal Cy. Nullify Power check (1d20+15=22) DC 22 (Its flawed to not effect magic, so Fluer and Phantoms TP/Transmit work fine)

(15:08:33) angrydurf: So I just realized something rediculous (15:08:41) Sandman_XI: i wll call him Crazy McCrazykins (15:08:43) angrydurf: you can interpose while insubstantial Well that was and remains my opinion on the whole insubstantial thing. Acording to the written rule you can. Its fine and reasonable for a GM to say "Physics, even superhero physics, don't work that way." As for Ronin, it was just the example that lept first to mind. I stand corrected on th VP being custom. Honestly other than the difficulty of managing them in a thread I don't see the issue even with custom VPs at the cost they have they are les efficient than a well constructed Array in general anyway. His big ol' arsenal equipment array seems like points shavign but again I'm not against points shaving personally it just been expressed as a no no here on certain things but not there. I could just as easily use the example of Doc A's pile O' skills on his HQ that his data link lets him access almost anywhere, or Knievals Teleporter that I think is set to let him have teleport at 1/5th cost though long range only (At least thats what I last read there, Don't know if it got changed before the edit went through) all legal but deffinately points shaving.

Well as I said formt the start its a silly hole int he rules and that leaves it up to ya'all to decide how it works if it ever actually comes up I suppose. I didn't know that was from W&W (one of the few I don't have) his equipment may be things you can buy but they don't use the stats provided for them in the book. To me that equipment array is worse points shaving than the Attack for attackfocus or attack spec. that usually gets the Refs up in arms (or at least gets them to request less of it) but that too is fine I just used that as an example that you all aren't hard-cases on the rules which is fine too.
-
Why? I can't say but theres nothing stopping it from happening is what I noted. The entire convorsation was predicated On my statement that it was rediculous but it is how the feat and power interact. I don't see alot of Insubstantial types buying interpose anyway. As for Ronins sheet his giant array of Guns/swords knives thats all custom equipment is exceptionally cheesy seeming since he apparently has it all available at any given time on his person to and its not standard Equipment but a big array of strike and blast powers with assorted extras and power feats with that standard equipment doesn't have so he has something akin to a weapons array like on Malices battle suit at 1/5 the price. mostly that in comparison to Ecals request for a cape with glide it seems silly that one was approved and the other denied. Or compare that to how much the refs frown on price shaving on attack and defense with accurate attack and attack focus/dodge focus, its kinda inconsistant. Then he has a custom varriable power, when it specifically says in the character creation guidlines that the refs will not approve custom varriables (personally I don't have an issue with varriable powers but its odd how one thing is said and another thing gets approved). On the main topic yes logically bullets etc go right through but the way interpose works is you make yourself the new target and your ally isn't hit even if they miss you. The attack is then resolved normally. Normally the attacks on an insubstantial person pass harmlessly through them (assuming the insubstantial is effective), if a GM wants to have some bad effect come of the bullets going through you they give you an HP for the setback. So if some one shells out the 21pp for insubstantial and interpose you would give them the HP if you can't handle the breach of "realism" of not being able to shoot right through the insubstantial person. I will note also that even if your opponant is insubstantial you still have a -4 to be hit if you are in melee with them. Just something funny I noted.

Ace shrugged at Stesha, "Both of you are well above the average woman on the street even without your powers." he said with a small laugh, "What you know now is certainly enough to help with the common thugs out there." Ace nodded in Taylors direction, "However if forced to face a foe with powers and denied your own you may need some work." He agreed, "I've learned a bit here and there of alot of styles, what is your goal? Escape? or more being able to hold your own without powers?" he was prepared to try and teach them either but hoped they realized that the dedication to the martial arts neccisary to hold ones own against people with showier powers was akin to that which Taylor had put into her studies of the arcane. Not to mention the physical conditioning to excell at that level.

As Derrick focused on becomeing Dark Star the others took note of a growing high pitched whine coming from the direction of the recently vacated gravtic draining device. Looking that direction showed the forcefield cage and the energies it contained had shifted to a violent red. The nearby votroll panel was ablaze with flashing warning lights, aparently the device did not handle being suddenly deprived of its power source very well. In the corner where avenger had dropped him the crazed 'Doctor' slowly pushed himself to his hands and knees trying to clear his head after the savage beating at the vigillantes hands.

Both successfull it niether stuns nor damages you. though being solid inside there is quite painfull.

The seed floated easily up under the manipulation of the beams from the gun. As it hit the side of the forcefield the beams started to spark against the field the discharge burning the seed to ash in seconds as the gun shook in her hand the readouts on the device going wild from the feedback of the two energies interacting.

Mike merely nodded, glad in a way to be done with the conversation. Something about Chris and Eddies tone had nearly set him off and he was glad for the distraction from the topic of Eddies relationship with Zoe. He expected punishment, they had broken the rules after all. He would do it again of course, but would not argue that they should be spared for their good intentions. Mike walked calmly out of the room turning to Seven as he walked past, "Alex took her to get cleaned up, they're probably still down in the bathroom." he said plainly before nodding to Magin and standing behind the older boy while he waited for Chris and Eddie to leave the room.

Jack slammed his tormentor into the wall again as he gurgled and feebly struggled to free himself from the vampires iron grip. As his head struck the wall again his eyes rolled back into his head and his struggles ceased. Jack now clung to the limp unconcious form of the mad doctor.
