Ace slid behind the wheel of his porshe and sped out of the garage and onto the streets of freedom. The low slung sports car hummed as he pushed the speed weaving in and out of traffic to intercept Marrionettes likely location. While in transit he contacted the central computer at Danger Manor and had it look up retirement comunities near her last known location trying to get ahead of the crazed psychic.

Ace stood once more and passed the man a card with one of his numbers on it though no name, wouldn't do to have anyone riffling the guys pockets knowing he was a snitch. "Get your friend out of here and stay clear of those guys for awhile, eh?" Ace said plainly. As the thug pulled his buddy out of the ally and helped him down the street Ace looked up at Phantom and quirked an eyebrow, Ace was no expert but he knew a bit of magic and glowy eyes usually meant something "Something I missed?" He inquired with a cocky half grin. Her senses cast outwards Phantom had little difficulty finding warehouse 16. There looked to be about 3 groups of 4 patrolling though haphazzardly with weaponry under their longcoats not that well hidden. Inside the warehouse was dark but what light did make it in exposed neatly stacked unmarked shipping crates.

Mike smiled slightly at the odd little dinosaur as it munched on Alexs offering. It was cute in a way just not the kind of thing you expected to be in the library, then again this was Claremont expecting the nexpected was curriculum here. At the sound of the creatures owner calling for it Mike spoke out lound enough to be heard but hopefully not spook the little guy "He's right up here Ma'am." before he remembered they were on something of a covert endevor.

Mike paused uncertainly as the group arrayed themselves around the table before taking his seat next to Erin. He smiled politely at the waitress and requested Ice water before tuning back into the conversation in time to be relived that there wasn't the kind of 'Wild Pit' that Chris had refered to. As Chris headed off to strik up convorsation Mike slumpped back in his chair and agreed "Yea this should be a good show," and added with a glance to Erin "and not way to cramped either."

Ace frowned into the phone and hung up in response. Nice thing about cell phones was they were just as traceable active or not, Rachel probably even had GPS if he was lucky. He immediatly had one of the officers put a trace on the cell then turned back to Rachel "I gotta go after her kiddo, the docs'll get you taken care of and you'll be better before you know it." Ace then began turning away and paused to ask "You have that thing lo-jacked?"

At Eddies suggestion Mike looked at the other boy much like he might had he spontaneusly grown a second head that spoke only pig latin. "Uhhh yea I'm thinking bashing down a door isn't exactly the behavior we're supposed to be showing here." As he spoke Mike leaned against the wall waiting for a more reasonable idea, not that his talents really were very suited to anything but Eddies idea. As Alex tried to coax the little creature forward Mike started slightly and asked "What the heck is that?"

This ones all done and can be locked up.

Assuming her silence meant Alex wasn't entirely sure either Mike suggested that they leave and pick up posters later. There really wasn't much sense in hangin around to be duped in a more serious fashion by the villianous siblings. It didn't take much convincing before Alex relented and the two friends headed home still wondering what the Claremont Academy held in store for them.

Go Go Gadget Impossible Notice (1d20+4=14)

Ace nodded along to Dark Stars explanation, He knew of some of the hero's recent actions but had only the time at he party to get to know the man himself. Indeed it seemed the fellow was more astute than he had originally assumed given his distant demeanor. "I'm glad to hear you are willing to aid in this." Ace replied before further explaining "Indeed there are many who will not serve well in such a capacity as I have explained despite the good works they do do." Ace looked to Scarab and Grimalkin before continueing "And for others there are teachers better suited to their needs." Ace turned back to Dark Star then and explained "I have watched the events this night carefully to try and ascertain who might be suited and willing to be part of such an organization,a s well as those who may need other kind of guidance." Ace looked around the party once more before concluding "It of course may be some time before all of those best suited to such a cause make themselves known, I am glad however to know that when they do I can count on you as well." "Untill then," Ace gave a respectful bow "I hope we can work on helping people on what scale is feasible at the time." Ace straightened and issued a quiet "Thank you." to Dark Star.

As soon as it registered who the call was from Ace stepped lightly to the side out of earshot of Rachel and the paramedics at least to answer. He kept both his expression and voice flat as he answered "Ace Danger speaking." It was long past time for the empty platitudes he knew who was on the other end of the line and she wanted him to know or she would not have used it to call.

Mike was trying to put on a good front but this whole thing didn't really seem right to him. He didn't want to be a total stick in the mud but he by nature kinda prfered to follow the rules by and large. He glanced around at the group and turned to Mark, "So whats supposed to be in there? I mean what if its off limits for a good reason, has anyone got in before?" Mike had been around for some of the less pleasant sights Alex had expossed herself too with her powers over the years and really would preffer that she not have to go it alone, so to speak, if it might be bad.

Ace paused consideringly for a moment looking at Dark Star before continueing. "I may be mistaken though I doubt it, but you seem like a forthright and direct sort of man so I shall offer you the same courtesy." Ace finaly said to the ephemeral hero. He glanced about but saw relitively few fellow party goers nearby and seemingly satisfied continued "I have deeper intentions for this party than merely a celebration of the heroes of this city or even my own homecoming." Ace let out a small laugh at his self depricating jest. Ace effortlessly maintained his carriage of non-chalance but Dark Star could see in his face and hear in his voice that this was a subject of import to him. "There is a growing gap betwixt the heroes of Freedom City, to many stake out one neighbrohood or block as thier territory and to many have been forced to come into thier own alone." Ace shot a glance to Grimalkin and Phantom each in turn as he spoke. Ace looked back to Dark Star when he next spoke, "You and I as well in our own ways suffer this lack of connection with our fellow heroes." Ace pauses and glances around then continues "Much of this is obvious to those who listen carefully to my words tonight, however what lies deeper in my intent is the solution." Ace looked intently at Dark Star once more "I wish to recapture the trust in one another heroes such as you and I take for granted. I will admit my idea is still very much in the formative stages but I feel that the city needs guardians once more who are examples of what humanity can strive to be rather than just frighten the criminal elements into hiding." Ace looked down seeming almost embarassed to speak in such a manner then looked once more to Dark Star "As I said the plan is but nascent, however I would like to know if I could call on you for such a project if, and I hope when, the time comes?" The ageless hero let the question hang in the air as he looked earnestly upon the gravticly empowered hero.

Ace looked perplexed for a moment at the theft. There were certainly less obvious escape vehicals she could have gone for not that the average officer would be able to do much of anything against the mind controling fiend. "Stew, she's probably driving an red 06 Corvette, but she'll roll the mind of most any officer you send up against her. The boys down in R&D have anything to stop that cooked up?." Ace asked though he doubted he'd have any such luck. While he continued his convorsation witht he AEGIS Chief he sent out a few texts to his family and some of Rachels friends from her phone warning that Marrionette may try something and was driving her car most likely. He had his doubts that she'd target Rachels friends as she was trying to get at Ace but she was also obviously even more crazed than her prior incarnation.

Ace will also try Search for the responsable parties and or likely reason for the boom. Taking 20 (using the rapid funness) gets him a 23

Ace made his way around the party checking up on old comrades as well as those of the newer generation. As he did so he made suble inquiries about Mr. Discrete as he was calling himself and tried to locate Jack. Despite several leads it seemed he always managed to have just missed the mysterious masked man. His circut complete he glance about once more and made his way to Dark Star "Dark Star, If you're not to busy showing me up on the dance floor I'd like a word." Ace said with a good natured smile.
-
Ace led the family back to the hastily established base of operations then tapped into the group mind to scan the area of the blast utilizing the police radio to alert emergency services of the placement of the worst of the fires and collapsed buildings and to direct what services were on scene to victims where he could. Turning to the father of the family he asked after the nieghbors to try and limit his search to homes likely to be occupied.

Mike quickly made his way out of the airship offering a hand down to the other passengers while glancign around to get his bearings on where the coffee house was. As Chris returned he pointed at the line saying "Looks like thats where we're headed." and started towards the back of the line.

actually Stewart Bonham the Chief Administrator of the Freedom City Operations Center. He figures at this point she's more of a concern for Freedom than the country at large.
-
Ace silently curse himself for not watching Marrionette more carefully. He should have know she'd try something like this but illusions hadn't been exactly her bag back in the day, but this was a whole new Marrionette and would require a different approach. "Dammit," He said aloud and turned to the nearest officer, "We need to get footage, try and track her down, her powers shouldn't have blocked the cameras." "We also need to get word out she has a vendetta agianst the last round of heroes she faced off against, might try and strike at the league, or their families, also AEGIS should be alerted, I'll take care of that." With those commands given he waved the officers into motion and followed Rachel down towards the ambulance. As he walked he dialed up Chief Bonham.

Mike clenched at the seat under the sudden acceleration. This thing certainly had some pick up that was for sure, and at this rate it wouldn't take long at al to get to FCU. Mike glanced at Alex to make sure she was doing ok with the acceleration and thought at her 'YOU OK?' then to the others, he'd pushed himself nearly this hard before when flying Solo but not often and had little enough trouble hadling the acceleration. However he had his concerns about those of a less hardy constitution.

"I-I-I dunno." He replied obviously on the edge of losing it. "Few guys came in a week ago, said they had a job, no questions asked unload this ship." He looked pleadingly to Phantom "P-Please I don't know anything more." Ace glided up from behind almost silently and when he spoke the man nearly jumped out of his skin. "I don't think thats all you know," Ace said smoothly, "You know where the warehouse is, what ship it was," Ace leaned in close to the man, "And most importantly you know where you and your friend were going to tell someone about this." The man melted under the presure "They kept some guys on to watch the goods, I-I thought if I warned em they might give a little kick back. Its warhouse 16 on northshore, The ship was Kobayashi Maru I think, I-I swear thats all I know." He devolved into sobs babbeling about how he just needed a little extra cash he didn't know what it was about. Ace looked impasively to Phantom clearly leaving it to her to decide what to do about these two.
