  1. Soothed somewhat by the touch Mike still tensed at the rather frank discussion of the issues at hand from his fiance, not that he'd really expect any different from her, or have it any other way really. "Well I think the point is that whatever you do desire in a companion romantic or," he paused and shrugged to add, "otherwise," not having an inoffensive word to encompass the potential for a more casual relationship, "you shouldn't consider your condition an exclusion. Just another complication." he smiled, "It may be harder to work around than not being able to stand sushi but in the grand scheme." he shrugged noncommittally, love was after all worth pursuing even if fleeting. Mike couldn't help but smirk slightly at her self effacing if likely delusional conclusion, "I doubt it is as one sided as you might think." he suggested gently, "I admit a certain dearth of experience when it comes to such things but I did make enough a fool of myself in my youth to know that when a person isn't interested it is pretty clear." He shrugged slightly however not pushing the issue. She was hardly the first teen girl to be convinced she was undesirable despite whatever evidence to the contrary and that was hardly going to be helped by him arguing the validity of her opinion. "It's difficult for those raised among such terminology to keep the variations straight." he admitted than frowned, "Not a good choice of words." the big man acknowledged with a sigh and looked pleadingly to Alex as he was certain he was ruining this now.
  2. "Get dressed and clear space in the cart for Lou and the goods." Xavier instructed as they heard whatever vehicle he had acquired roll up to the front of hte building and a door slide open. Apparently a van then. They were then treated to a stream of well inflected dominican spanish, all of it crude, most of it demanding some subset of 'lazy, worthless, and probably female?' workers extract themselves so they could get to the next job followed by shouts from the underpaid rentacops the city had working the lobby. "Their radios won't even be tied into the wolfram frequencies if they think to raise an alarm." He offered between rounds of complaints and arguing in broken english with the guards. "Get to the main entrance and keep walking." he explained cryptically and jumped back into character of the put upon sleazeball manager of a low rent cleaning service.
  3. Hmm possibly. Yea I think that can work. Gotta see how much of the end of the sidekick thread I can reveal without spoilers!
  4. Kids, Gina, maybe Yolanda(trying to keep the NPCs to non-combatant roles and not sure where Yolanda would fall on that spectrum) in three. Vince probably too? It takes place in the HQ and I don't think he can leave? 2 or 3 for Ellie is up to Erick mostly I think if he'd bring her to the fight or leave her home to watch the non-coms.
  5. OK recruiting for a set of three threads. They're slightly time displaced but for efficiency's sake I'm going to run them concurrently. The Overarching theme is Bombshells old enemies getting out of Blackstone and coming for her and hers. Thread the first: Sidekick Sideshow! Initial thought is Raina and some subset of her crew win tickets to an exclusive concert. But not all is as it appears, sinister schemes are afoot and our heroes must unravel the plot before it's too late! This could be changed up to be a different set of lower power Interceptor associates and doesn't have to be the full group. Thread the Second: The Main Event! With the reveal of Talyas old Foes being back in action and coming for her the Interceptors gather to get them before they strike. Holed up in an old AEGIS Facility a Direct assault would be foolhardy but is there time to wait?!? Doesn't have to be the FULL interceptors crew, though it can be scaled to whoever of the group is up for it. Thread the Third: But Meanwhile (IT'S A TRAP) While the Interceptors are facing off the Big Bads the Dojo is under threat! It's up to Ace Danger (and whatever other subset of Talyas old Guard friends or Not!Interceptors want in) to get the kids and non-combatants to safety. The World May never be the same! Ace, Maybe Dimitri, Klara, DragonFly, Ms. Americana? Dunno who all would be better for the evac and protect role than the assault in the main event. Semi Open recruitment for the first and third so long as there is a core connection to the Interceptors or a good connection to someone else in the thread that is. Main Event is Whoever Talya/Erik et al. bring. Gonna try to keep these moving as much as possible so probably will skip people's posts and move forward after 24 hours of no posting outside exceptional circumstances (and try to keep myself to that as well) Post below if you're interested with character and thread and how you think you'd tie in if not obvious.
  6. "Some people just need to work a little harder for it." Mike replied with a small glance to Alex, who clearly had the patience of a saint waiting for him to work out his own sexuality. "Not all burdens are equal but they don't need to born alone." he offered in agreement with his fiance. "Prudish would be repression of desire not absence." Mike corrected lightly with a small smile, clearly an issue he himself had struggled with to a degree. "It can be difficult to understand the drives of others when you don't share them." he offered as possible explanation of her conflicting feelings. "As for safety and their arduous intent, or your transformations effect on it," Mike states flatly, "I would counter that it is not really your decision to make is it?" He shrugged and let out a small sigh, "Now I understand better than most the fear of hurting someone, someone you care for particularly." he assured the young woman careful to keep his voice even and non-judgmental his posture a relaxed but not imposing confidence. "I will point out your responsability is to minimize the risks and inform your friends and loved ones of what risks remain whatever you may be doing." he left the details vague as much as favor to Fred as himself. "But really if they want more denying them because of your fears is selfish and cruel."
  7. Mike stared agape at Alex for a long moment a deep blush rising in his cheeks at Alex's swift cut to the heart of the matter, "Oh I'm sure that's not what," he trailed off as he saw Freds reaction and glanced to Alex knowing full well that while hte psychic sometimes cut through the polite small talk with uncomfortable alacrity rarely was she actually incorrect about what was on a person's mind even if she didn't actually check. Glancing down he collected his thoughts, "Ah well then." he answered somewhat stiltedly as he sought the right words. "I can go if that...?" he offered vaguely though in all honesty unless things had changed a great deal from his time at Claremont she'd need to have a certain comfort with the subject in mixed company or face a great deal of ridicule. He nodded slowly to Freds request, "Of course, whenever you are recovered." Glancing to Alex briefly once more he let the silence settle for a few moments before he spoke again once Fred seemed somewhat recovered. He tried to radiate calm without the condescension of full kindergarten teacher voice, "Well, there are ways to stimulate the physiological response." he pointed out with care, "Or at least the elevated heart rate and adrenal response." he was careful to correct blushing once more at his accidental insinuation. "Ahh that is to say I'm certain the specifics of your condition being triggered could be measured and risks of assorted behaviors modeled on that." He frowned slightly, "The point is Winifred, that you certainly deserve all that you want out of your life and should not assume your condition obligates you to give that up any more than anyone else's situation."
  8. At Freds frown Mike glanced uncertainly to Alex, I think I missed something. "Well poetry might be insult to the craft." Mike replied with a small smile, "And if I am honest it was more wallowing than outlet." Mike shook his head at the slight deluge of concerns from Fred though his smile was kind, "Nothing of the sort." he assured her, "I suppose Alex repeated her tired explanation about not upsetting the CFO but she truly delights in making the poor man sweat." he assured their guest and carefully lowered his cup to the tray, "If she invited you here it was not as a purely business meeting." he nodded considering the matter settled with that. "As for your," he paused and looked between the two women, "episodes." he shrugged, "I admit I don't know the details but it sounds as if you don't either?" Settling back into the couch he offered a small shrug, "Now you're clearly more scientist than I'll ever be but I imagine the first step would be confirming what triggers your," he glanced to Alex questioningly, "Episodes?" Looking back to Fred he added, "In a controlled environment of course."
  9. "Oh certainly." Mike agreed with a smile for his diminutive partner. "It could have been far worse." he admitted with a slow and careful shrug. He listened thoughtfully to Fred response and nodded, "Well I can't claim to fully understand your gifts." he acknowledged with care, "But control is in some ways the lesser part." he offered carefully. He looked to Alex for a moment and let out a measured breath as he considered his words with much the same care he took in his movements. "In the end it is a balancing act of action and consequence." Mike explained earnestly, "In my case I need only weigh the risks of harm by taking action, against those of not." He raised his teacup to his lips his hand dwarfing the delicate cup. "Once you know what you risk with your action you can concentrate on minimizing those risks yes?" he inquired to see if she followed. "And see how that stacks against the alternative." he looked gently to meet fred gaze though only briefly, "What do you want and what do you fear it might cost you?"
  10. Sticking the glass in the dishwasher he paused eyes slightly unfocused for a moment and nodded as if to himself. "Of course." he replied aloud to Alexs suggestion and stepped back into the spacious living room and moved aside a mound of pillows from one corner of the couch before gently settling himself in arm up on one armrest, the pillows had left a comfortable amount of space for most people but it was clear now the furniture had been sized with his specifications in mind and fit him well. He nodded thoughtfully for a long moment at Freds words, "Yes, the alternatives for those who might present a risk to others is not the most pleasant." he agreed solemnly, "Though better than nothing." "Our abilities manifested young." he clarified, "The government and Star labs had a keen interest in those like us." he acknowledged with some care, "But it was not a situation that would as you say, Productively shape young minds." it had been a mix of prison and laboratory after all. "My control was unrefined, and such power at the command of a temperamental child was, problematic." he acknowledged with only mild discomfort, "I am lucky, no one was ever seriously injured by my lack of control." he glanced to Alex for a moment, "And even more lucky to have had time to fully master myself." Looking back to fed he added reassuringly, "They had only my and others best interests at heart of course." he was sure to clarify, "But in the aftermath of the invasion tensions ran high, you are much better off at the Academy than the alternatives indeed."
  11. "She's a bit of an overachiever." Mike confided to Fred with a fond smile aimed at his fiance. As the glasses floated away from his face he subconsciously straightened his posture shoulders shifting back from their slump as he ran a hand through his hair straightening the windblown eccentric professor look he'd been briefly sporting. It was much like looking at another person though his eyes remained kind and he took a step back so as not to crowd their guest or loom too imposingly. "Well the demonstration clearly has gone well." he complimented them both on the new look and took in the rainbow eyeshadow on display with a wry smile. "An excellent choice, Ms. Wei." he acknowledged with a low laugh, "That is sure to end up on display at the next AEON press conference." A few long strides carried him to the kitchen where he poured himself a tall glass of milk, "Very well." He answered to their questions after his workday, "Will drew a lovely forest." he offered meaningfully to Alex, young William Sanford usually had art of a slightly darker bent due to some familial tragedy shortly before he began at Nicholson. He took a long drink and turned to rinse the glass, "I prefer to think of it as enabling their explorations than shaping but very fulfilling day indeed thank you." he replied to Fred as well.
  12. The door to the balcony slid open and shut admitting the gentleman in question, at least one would safely assume so from Alex's brief description. Sidling through the door quietly as he could manage Mike ducked under the lintel more than tall enough even for his frame, the motion more habit than intention. His workday uniform of a knit cardigan over dress shirt, in this case sky blue over a deep mustard, topped his relaxed fit khakis and tan loafers, the slight hunch to his posture spoke of a man used to taking up slightly too much space and he adjusted his glasses slightly as he offered a friendly wave to Fred. "We were neighbors as kids actually." he answered though he hadn't been in the room when the inquiry had been made. Depositing the well used grey backpack he ferried supplies to and from school within on a table he came around the couch to offer his hand, "Mike Harris at your service young miss." the tall man demurred "You must be Winnifred." he added warmly, "I hope I'm not interrupting?" he inquired though clearly the question was aimed at Fred not his fiance.
  13. Jayaman was of course not entirely wrong. Huang certainly wasn't in his room and by Jayamans standards his activities would probably fall into 'screwing around'. While most new students were of limited interests at best to the dhampir the the scintillating circuitry of Salvos enchanted armor drew his attention enough that he stalked the group, though he'd say followed, down into the Doom Room to get a better look. "Excellent choice." he spoke up as if he hadn't been all but invisible moments before, "They never quite get the frequencies right for cross dimensional." he noted sparing a knowing glance at Jayamon before slouching with a practiced indifference against the wall of the control room. He scanned the other newer students through the sunglasses he still wore picking out the style of Koa's tattoos with a small nod quirked a brow as he pondered if he was atlantean or just from one of the island cultures influenced by the aquatic ancients. He spent a long moment trying to place Coriene, she had the bearing of one fully comfortable with the super powered unusual in first gen heroes and the cheekbones were right, "But Socotra's still under Typhoons rule." he murmured under his breath and tilted his head, "A Danger?" he asked as politely as his still nascent social skills allowed. Despite the question his attention was still drawn to the enchanted suit and it's intricate hermetic circuits, he was probably staring, hopefully not showing enough elongated canine to make anyone uncomfortable, but he was distracted.
  14. Ah orokos never saw a unbalanced show fight it didn't want to ruin. 26, 23, 26 Xavier will luck control to force rerolls cus that wasn't cool orokos. 21, 10 the last three drop like they oughta.
  15. The 'guards' paused though only briefly as Lou casually disabled yet another of their number and remained unfazed by their attacks. The surprise was however short lived as it became clear Sophia was making off with the goods they were there for as well. Despite losses they redoubled efforts unleashing a flurry of blows with their batons in a last ditch attempt to overwhelm the big man through sheer ferocity. Most of the blows missed or fell harmlessly across the broad of the street fighters back and shoulders but one well aimed shot took him across the ribs with a resounding crack that would have felled a lesser man. Despite their losses none reached forthe radios on their belts or otherwise tried to alert the rest of securty of what was going on, removing all doubt as to their pedigree. If the ink flashing from thier exposed skin as they fell was any indication probably some of the newcomer yakuza that had been putting the squeeze on the newly built up airport district.
  16. 'Guards' will try to thump Lou again because they are minions and not quick on the uptake. 27, 15, 10 one hits so still only a DC 21 toughness save.
  17. Xavier will burn luck control on Lou's next action for heroic feat Takedown attack. Alice will find that the exit from the vents nearest to the elevators is a custodian's closet with a stocked janitorial cart and spare coveralls in assorted sizes.
  18. "Back exit is out." Xavier confirmed over the earpiece. "Alright, stop toying with them and get moving." He instructed his phrasing vaguely reminiscent of the that tossed around the boxing gyms Lou had built his early career around. "We're going out the front." he finished and they could hear a door slam as he prepared the new getaway vehicle. "Alice meet them at the elevator we're going with the housekeeping scam." and with that cryptic instruction he sped toward the main entrance to await their egress.
  19. yep That'll take another out.
  20. Initiative: Round 2 Lou 3HP 18 Sophia 1HP 18 'Guards' 4 Up 14 4 guards still standing in the room. Sophia can grab the originals this round. Lou is up for those in combat. alice can post before or after as works best for you all.
  21. Peering from her hidden locale Alice could make out a suspiciously nondescript van. Two heavily tattooed men of Japanese descent sat in the driver and passenger seat. It was impossible from her angle to see if the van contained backup or was merely a getaway vehicle, but it had clear lines of sight on the group's planned point of egress. Inside two of the men now obviously not actual guards fell to the floor before they even realized Lou was there. All attention was now on the big man leaving Sophia free to take care of acquiring the goods. Turning on the brawler suddenly in their midst the men were at least bright enough not to try to fire on him when they would be caught in their own crossfire. With a slow hiss of breath the largest of them spun firing off a dizzying a barrage of high speed kicks in the air directly in front of Lou, a display to dishearten rather than harm. The rest took a more direct approach as the extended retractable batons and swung in unison high, low and from behind trying to overwhelm with sheer numbers.
  22. One 'guard' will attempt a demoralize intimidate check: 1d20+6=20 The remaining three will try a combined attack: 17, 22, 13 only one hits so a DC 21 toughness save from Lou.
  23. He. Can not make that. So another one down.
  24. 'Guard' rolls a 25 on his save so he goes down for the count. 5 guards remain and we roll around to round 1 Initiative: Round 1 Lou 3HP 18 Sophia 1HP 18 'Guards' 5 Up 14 Lou is back up at the top of the round so you can do it all in one post or we can split it however you prefer Giz.
  25. Initiative: Surprise action Lou 3HP 18 Sophia 1HP 18 'Guards' 14 Lou is up and has Surprise. Don't forget you all have +3 master plan bonus in effect still.
