  1. Stifling a complaint about her taking his glasses, he supposed they were among friends thus safe enough to cavalier with his 'Secret' Identity after all, Mike smiled down at Alex but as she had suspected stood a little straighter and squared his shoulders as he raised a hand to wave to Mark and Nina. As they approached he returned Marks enthusiastic hug and bowed his head slightly to Nina "Good to see you both." he greeted warmly shrugging slightly at the complaints about the Freedom winters, "Freedom never lets things get dull at least." he suggested with a small laugh. At Ninas comment he looked up and over the head of most of the crowd to see if Joes distinct style was visible yet like as not sweeping his gaze beyond the doors of the party as he did so, "I'm sure they're on their way." he acknowledged and glanced to Alex seeing no reason not to make a group of it.
  2. Mike set down lightly just outside the doors lowering Alex with perhaps unsubtle ease to the red carpet as definitely too many paparazzi flashbulbs flashed. He smiled down at his diminutive fiance and sheepishly adjusted his glasses before following her in, hunching his shoulders as he passed through the doors despite there being more than enough room as he ducked his head almost nervously at the crowd already gathered. "And you." he agreed and blushed slightly at the mangled complement, "Uh beautiful I mean." he corrected as he cast about for familiar faces and raised one hand in a broad wave to those he recognized. Carefully picking his way through the crowd on Alex's arm he seemed almost worried he might break something or knock over one of the likely priceless artifacts from the league's many victories on display.
  3. Regarding the defeated but no longer contained thief warily as Nevermore applied the hypospray and leaned in toward her as the older student settled back eying whatever concoction she'd mouthed with care. "Unless it's meant for us?" he suggested somewhat dismissively, "Has someone been watching too many late night Dune marathons?" he asked patronizingly and with a wave and invocation erected barriers of shimmering force sealing them into the room lest she try again to escape, "You've already risked the wrath of the Lord of the Oasis this night." he suggested ominously as date night was serious business, "Do not force us to waste further time on your ill conceived plans." He looked questioningly to Nevermore then back to the girl, "So talk." he demanded with a haughty tone.
  4. Toughness check = 1d20+12=13 Seriously orokos... fine the dangermobile is injured. What'll it take to get ahead of the Ferrari then? I think I have speed on them at least.
  5. Either a boost poison immunity or possibly a nullify poisons. Even with effects others shenanigans either fits in the gadgets pretty easily.
  6. "Dui!" spat Ouroboros proving once more that he had learned all his best swears form his mother. He lunged forward to help Nevermore try and pry open her mouth or otherwise halt whatever the strange thieves latest maneuver was. "Don't you have an anti-toxin in that suit of yours?" he asked as he pulled away the girls mask, "All I got isn't exactly the kinda thing you do to woman you have to hold down." he noted with a frown and perhaps more for her ears than Nevermores added, "Though with access to a body compelling a spirit would probably be easier than interrogation anyway." the magus noted as he waited expectantly for captain gizmos to do something about the unexpected turn of events.
  7. Danger!mobile Save: 1d20+12=15 Well not super down with plummeting to his death right now so an HP is in order. 1d20+12=18 +10 for HP is 28. So The car is fine for now...
  8. "Your trinkets and borrowed power won't save you." Ouroboros growled ominously as the would be thief resisted yet another attack his enhanced clothing absorbing Nevermores blow. Sweeping his hand in long looping gesture the young magus summoned forth spectral power, ghost light limning his hands as he struck out and incanted, "Zúrivý Strašidlo Paľba!", a swarm of phantasmic fists arced out and around even through Nevermore and his incapacitated foe. The spectral attack pummeled the unfortunate thief from all sides as the spells final words echoed through the chamber driving him to the floor under the barrage. Ouroboros' hands fell to his side as his target collapsed and strode carefully toward Nevermore and the remaining thief, "You really are not in the position to be negotiating." he pointed out and looked to Nevermore curiously, "So this is the part where the cavalry arrives a moment after the matter is settled right?"
  9. Gonna try and blast the non grappled one again. Attack Roll: 1d20+12=17; Gonna assume that is a miss so HP to re roll: 1d20+12=16 +10 for reroll is 26 DC 27 toughness save.
  10. Alright I like this arrangement and think it'll be a lot more manageable so just a couple math things to cover. Portal (on Teleport in the book array) is a +2 extra so that's overcost currently at 4PP/rank not 3 And the VP would start as a Standard Action to change config moving it free is a +2 extra making it 6PP/rank not 5. Other than those this looks good to go.
  11. Phalanx stooped through the entrance and peered into the dark as he took the lead, "This wasn't built for humans." he mused quietly giving voice to that which all of them likely recognized on some level. "Proportions are all wrong and the angles don't make sense." he theorized as they moved deeper into the complex. "But it's not active." he guessed and looked to Midnight and Psyche, "Maybe something else moved in?" he considered hoping someone more familiar with the investigative side of these endeavors might have better ideas. Keeping a wary eye he moved further into the complex ahead of his friends and teammates, "Better to know what we're dealing with I think, unpleasant as it may be." He countered gently as he awaited better lighting.
  12. Ouroboros looked at Nevermore blinking slowly for a moment as he pulled open his coat and deposited the Orb neatly into the emptiness therein. There was no way anyone can be this clueless was there? Letting Nevermore continue whatever it was he was doing however Ouroboros focused instead on the scroll in the other interlopers hands watching carefully as whatever magic it might contain was unleashed and preparing his own mystical might to stop it in its tracks. Hands placed carefully in complex warding mudras he began a low chant of unweaving.
  13. Move action to drop the orb into the void for safe keeping. Standard action ready and action to counterspell whatever is on that scroll using his Magic Array. Power Check for countering: 1d20+16=36
  14. "I know it's your uncles third favorite car." Ace sighed into the phone as he stepped out into the valet line as the Danger Mobile rumbled to a stop in front of him. With a smile he tipped the confused velt looking into the driverless car with wonder and slid in the driver seat, "And yes of course I understand it's sovereign territory when have I ever been one to disrespect that Kahlid?" he asked with a hint of mirth in his noice as he punched up the link to the FCPD live feeds to track the cars and eased away from the curb, "I'll do what I can but remember this makes us even for that thing that time." he reminded his contact before hanging up and patting the dash fondly, "Been awhile ol girl but I know you still have it let's show these kids a thing or two." he murmured as the Danger Mobile roared down the street to meet up with the pursuers.
  15. Alright I assume that with his flight Phalanx can get ahead of htem in a move action and they don't just stop when he asks nicely ... then Super-Breath to put a stop to this. Cone Snare effect DC 12 as he's pulling his punches assuming the cars and drivers to be basically normal.
  16. The wind whistled across his comlink as Phalanx responded, "Copy, intercepting at Lexington and 19th" looking ahead for a safe intersection to slow the vehicles without endangering civilians. As he came screaming out of the sky he planted himself firmly in front of the oncoming cars holding up a hand as he boomed warning, "Stop this now before someone gets hurt." he demanded in what he considered fair warning. When the cars showed no sign of slowing of course he was forced into action letting forth a blast of air from his lungs freezing the ground before them and hoping to bind them in drifts of ice and frost and end this madcap scheme before it truly begins. As far as loud and ostentatious there were few who could match that display, how effective it would be remained to be seen of course.
  17. This is a very workable arrangement for the powers. numbers look good overall but the damage in the book array that enhances hte main damage may have some errors I wanted to go over to make sure I'm reading them right. So the base power they are modifying is ranged damage 7 for 2PP a rank or 14 PP. (also some feats that are not an issue.) Damage 3 (Extras: Ranged, Autofire, Penetrating; Feats: Variable Descriptor 2, Accurate 1) [Applied to Damage AP in Cantrip Array] [26/26PP] This is as written Damage 3 with three extras and three feats. that would be 15 PP. If it is intended to apply penetrating and autofire to all 10 ranks it would come out to 3pp for damage, 3PP for range on that damage, 10PP for Autofire, 10PP for penetrating plus 3PP in feats for a 29PP total cost. Also that is a larger than useful amount of both autofire and penetrating. Making explicit how many ranks of each of those extras you're actually ending up with would be helpful. AP: Damage 3 (Extras: Ranged, Area (Burst), Secondary Effect; Feats: Variable Descriptor 2, Progression 1 (Area)) [Applied to Damage AP in Cantrip Array] [26/26PP] AP: Damage 3 (Extras: Ranged, Area (Burst) Variable Attack; Feats: Variable Descriptor 2, Progression 1 (Area)) [Applied to Damage AP in Cantrip Array] [26/26PP] Both of these seem to follow the same construction as above but would require the full ranks in both Area and secondary Effect. I'm not certain what Variable attack is on the second one. Maybe intended to be selective? these woudl be 29PP powers with full ranks though. The Will damage is priced correctly and the rest of the array math looks correct. More broadly I'd say this as advice not as a requisite for approval. The nullify as mentioned is probably not needed to be able to counterspell. And for Damage when having the book you could likely build a conjured weapon with 15 PP of VP that would be a workable PL 7 attack. Damage 7(Conjured weapon; Feats: Accurate 1, Affects Insubstantial 2, Extended Reach 3(20'), Variable Descriptor 2) [15PP] For instance gets you a solid set of Dr. Strange movie style magical fighty stuff. Those points into the book array might make for easier construction of the big spells. Likewise the area teleport probably not going to be useful when you have a portal available particularly as both are long "casting" and One blast, One AoE damage and a Will Based attack are probably plenty for the base array as well. So you could clean up the array a little that way to be more manageable on points and get you what you really need to be able to do. Also don't forget the cantrips VP CAN be used to enhance Array spells on the fly so if you really need a selective AOE or Autofire you have the VP points to add that to a base effect in the Array. These of course just my suggestions if we work out the math confusion I mentioned first I'm happy enough with this build.
  18. OK I can look more in depth this afternoon probably but right off the bat I'd point out that with a magic descriptor you can already effectively get that nullify type effect off just using the countering powers rules. Nullify (magic) as a power is more of like a witch hunters antimagic field kinda power where they may not have magic but can stop it. Having magic is generally a valid reason to counter other magic.
  19. Well I have two concerns with a large VP like that with a broad descriptor like magic. Firstly it can REALLY bog down combat when both the GM and Player have to double check math and how powers work every time it changes. Having some pre-built like you do helps with that granted but it can be problematic. The second is really a balance issue. VP's particularly large ones very readily lend themselves to becoming the "I can do that!" hero which makes group play tricky for more specialized characters. Usually that is controlled by the VP descriptors being limited enough to keep them from being literally anything but magic doesn't have so limited a reach. So I see a few options with a rebuild. I think even a slightly smaller but faster to change VP for cantrips could get you the utility powers you'll usually want representing memorized spells. Attack magic can be pretty well handled with an array 4-5 deep of powers with Variable Descriptor 2 so it's not always the same blast spell being cast or create object or move object. It can be fire then shadows then pure force or what not. Using HP to stunt rarely used spells rounds out the utility of an array but ensures you only pop out the "I can do anything" kinda magic when someone isn't already there to cover that contingency. The points are a little trickier certainly but a 10PP VP for cantrips gets you a lot of fun utility (minor telekinesis, communication, movement powers, environmental effects) on the cheap. even if you move it to a move or free action the pool could run less than the cantrips Array you have now. Those points plugged into the book with maybe some rejiggering could get you the points you need possibly to get an array that hits caps with 3-5 powers in it. There is also the idea of making the book an easy to lose device instead of hard to lose which makes a bit more sense for a hand held item anyway. It does increase the risk of being disarmed at times of course but putting in a restriction so the book is keyed to Shiar would mean its just a matter of gettign it back not risking it being used against him.
  20. Phalanx fought back to his feet even as Nick Cimitiere pushed back the deathly energies that sapped his life force. Resolute he stood before the Angel of Death and squared his shoulders every blow to him was a moment longer for the psychic or the necromancer to weaken the creature, the thing seemed to shrug off the groups mighties blows so he would buy them all the time he could. "No mo..." He was cut off as fast forward froze the angel in time and before he could even hope to act it was no longer needed as their own holy warrior unleashed his power to fell the creature. With the sky rent open and an angelic host descending to take the villain it seemed the fight was at an end letting his hands drop to his side Phalanx looked out over the lot and the city then to the hospital behind as the last breath rattled in the throat of the one time King of Crime. "So it's over." he confirmed, "All of it?" he asked looking from the Host above to Nick, Renegade and the others, "Is everyone alright?"
  21. "Sounds like we have contact." Ace suggested with a smile that said he was enjoying this whole thing far more than was appropriate for any sane person, "Hang on tight this is about to get a little bumpy." the immortal warned before jerking the wheel into a tight barrel roll sending the Danger mobile screaming across the DC skyline at near mach speeds. Now nothing about physics said that should work of course, which is why it was probably a good thing Ace had skipped those classes to take flying lessons with his namesake. As the storm intensified around them and they sped toward the scene of the battle in progress Ace took the time to make small talk, "Like the helmet by the way reminds me of a guy I used to know." he said with a wink, "So back between the wars tey used to do these air shows." he related like it was a casual sunday drive, "Used to do these amazing wing walks insurance would never go for it today, they'd do the death drop jump right off and the pilot does a power drive to catch em." he explains and glances to Cannonade with a grin, "I figure you got legs like the last guy to wear that and you'd be a natural." Punctuating his statement with a high G turn releasing the door on the danger mobile and giving his passenger a clean shot directly at the unprepared Levant.
  22. well she actually gets a concentration check to maintain the concentration powers without taking an action. DC 10+rank IIRC. Ace will use his standard action to feint Levant (Skill Mastery for 35) and set up to pass it off to Cannonade. Move action will be to get us in position for that.

    Doom Race!

So Phalanx has " Holding Back: Phalanx holds to the genre conventions that you do not open with your most powerful attack. He'll usually pull his early punches and try for non damaging attacks like disarms and grapples until a foe proves too strong or durable at which point he'll begin to ramp up. " on his sheet to help out with power balance if that is a concern with Nevermore Quinn. (Usually I pull his punches to an effective PL of whatever the average is in the group) But even barring that I'm Ok with stepping him out to make room for Nevermore since I have Ace in the other thread. Or vice versa if that would be a better fit. I don't 'need' characters in all the threads
