So the Alternate ID benefit is really for a second or third etc legal ID. You get one for Free as it were and her ID from her amnesiac past would then be a complication (as people might recognize her she might have a criminal record all that good stuff) So you don't need the points in benefit unless you want more than one established ID to use legally.

"Others certainly do." Mike agreed readily, "All the more reason not to assume yours are so small or so great that it's wrong to share the load." he pointed out with a gentle smile, "But we don't have to talk about problems," He paused and nodded to himself, "Any classes you find particularly interesting?" he asked opening up an avenue for her to pick the less personal if she still felt the impetus. Mike shook his head sadly at her admission, "Well, that isn't up to them, that's up to you." he countered quietly, "I find that those thinking they hold hte keys to who should or should not be 'in' are usually exactly the sort who shouldn't." he offered with a small shrug, "It's up to you to decide if you belong or not, or really if you even want to." Mike sat still in his seat rocking only ever so slightly in time with the lurching of the bus his countenance patient and open but not demanding anything of her.

Kanunu Power Level: 12/14 (200/216PP) Unspent Power Points: 16PP Trade-Offs: -3 Attack / +3 Damage, -3 Defense / +3 Toughness In Brief: Jovial Hawaiian powerhouse and hydrokinetic mutant balancing work, college, and super heroics in Freedom City. Catchphrase: Theme: Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride Alternate Identity: Kimo Keli'i (Poorly kept Secret) Birthplace: Hilo, Hawaii Residence: Emerald City, University Hill Base of Operations: Emerald City, Riverside, University Hill, Oceanside Occupation: Grad Student ECU Affiliations: Emerald City University Family: Locally only his auntie Leilani, in Hilo on the other hand they are legion Description: Age: 19 (DoB: 1996) Apparent Age: 19 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Pacific Islander (Hawaiian) Height: 6' 4" Weight: 270 lbs Eyes: Dark Brown Hair: Black Kimo is a tall youth broad shouldered and heavily muscled. His skin is a deep burnished sepia, darkened from long hours in the tropical sun. His heavy jaw and broad nose lead up to a high forehead and frame his dark eyes twinkling with humor at some unspoken joke. His head is topped by a long mass of tousled raven curls that drape nearly to his waist falling in messy ringlets occasionally tied back in a vain effort to tame the locks. A days worth of stubble graces his jaw more often than not his polynesian heritage earning him an incomplete escape from regular shaving. In nearly any weather he wears a simple t-shirt or tank top with a logo of a favorite band or surfwear company, or none at all on beach days, over board or cargo shorts and flip flops or bare feet. When pressed to more dressy occasions he'll settle on knee length linen khaki shorts and a traditional aloha shirt and flip flops in better repair or perhaps leather sandals, traditional shoes are not negotiable. In costume his look varies little, black morphic molecule jammers replace his usual shorts and he goes shirtless with hair tied back loosely by a leather thong. Time allowing he makes a nod to 'costume' and adds a traditional Samoan ie lavalava tied about his waist in a rippling black and sky blue pattern. While nominally keeping his identity secret he doesn't bother with a mask relying mostly on the startling difficulty many non-islanders have telling one islander from another. History: Kimo was born the fourth of seven children amid a community that often seemed more family than not. This lent itself to a very wide net of 'family' for the young man as he was never far from someone he was at least tangentially related to it seemed. He lived a fairly normal if not luxurious life with lessons in song, dance, and instruments rounding out his traditional schooling and all the spare time he could muster spent at the beach or on the waves. With an active lifestyle and healthy genetics he grew into a strapping youth and spent all his free time swimming and surfing the beaches around his home town. He was 16 when things took a turn for the strange, surfing a particularly harsh set he got pulled under in the crush slammed into the coral below the break. Strictly amateur hour stuff while trying to showboat for some tourist girls. He should have been smashed up, possibly drowned by the force of the wave and the bad break he took. But he was unharmed and in fact felt better than ever. When he made it in to shore the crowd was amazed, when his baord washed up moments later, or what was left of it, everyone was sure it was some kind of miracle. And they were not entirely wrong. The Trauma had triggered a latent mutation rendering him nearly invulnerable and with the strength of ten men, maybe more. He knew something must have happened he remembered hitting the coral reef, the dull thud as he was dashed against the rocks, the rasping scratch as the coral scraped across his suddenly invulnerable flesh. He also was not so certain he could tell anyone and kept it secret for some time. Within a month he realized his powers were only growing, and expanding. He could command the waters of hte sea to do his bidding and his strength only grew. After he discovered his powers he took a short lived and rather embarrassing turn as a teen hero on the streets of Hilo. Calling himself Kanaloa after one of the chief Native Hawaiian deities he took to the streets to rid his neighborhood of pushers and meth heads. It did not go well. Even his command of hte waters was to little avail when a poorly planned attack on a local Meth lab ended in half the apartment complex it was housed in burning down. His absurd misuse of traditional iconography didn't help matters when his grandma caught him sneaking in that night. His career as Kanaloa was over before it really began, and he spent every spare moment for the next two years either in lessons on the Islands proud history and mythology or working to pay back his family who had stepped in to help those displaced by his mistake. While it never became common knowledge who was behind the disasterous amatuer appropriation of godhead, Kimo was done. After graduating high school Kimo set his eyes on Freedom city, for surely in the City of Heroes he could find his way to do more with his powers. He enrolled at Freedom College and moved into the dorms. He's been there almost a year and a half now and is starting to explore his potential as a hero under the less appropriative name, Kanunu, "The Strong." He knows he has alot to learn but if there is anywhere he can learn it's Freedom. Update 8/2019: After Graduating from FCU with his bachelors in Marine Biology Kimo has been accepted to the prestigious program at Emerald City University. He's pursuing his masters there currently and returning to his beloved pacific. WHat time he doesn't spend in school is usually spent pursuing the best breakers Oceanside has to offer or taking a trip down the coast. He relishes the relative quiet of Emerald City but finds the stark class divisions difficult to fathom. Personality & Motivation: Kimo takes the general 'Time is different on the Islands' attitude to heart. He's slow to anger and easy going in demeanor which can come off at times as if he doesn't take things seriously though he does, he just prefers not to act rashly. When he does move to act he can be implacable however and his fury when pushed is potent and relentless. Kanunu is new to him, he came to study in Freedom at least in part out of the hopes of turning his powers into something more. However in this city festooned with the monuments to the greatest heroes he can't help but feel somewhat inadequate. He has potential but lacks confidence in his abilities and in what he's doing, he's young and inexperienced and very concerned about doing more harm than good. With some experience and a healthy dose of self confidence though he could do great things. Powers & Tactics: Kanunu is a fairly straightforward fighter and while not devoid of tactics he takes a firm, 'If it ain't broke don't fix it.' approach to tactics. His mutations had granted him both great strength and left him nearly invulnerable to anything short anti vehicular weaponry. Wading into battle he'll focus first on dispatching underlings, a task he's very well suited to, before moving on to bring the battle to more worthy foes. With access to a suitable water source he can utilize his hydrokinetic potential to unleash the power of the waves on his foes allowing him greater command of the battlefield though aqueous manipulations. Shaping and wielding water to provide cover or hamper foes as well as take more direct action with powerful jets and waves or mighty tendrils to grasp foes or extract and protect innocents. When immersed in a body of water Kanunu becomes a truly mighty foe of evil. As comfortable in the waves as ashore and adapted to freezing crushing depths and able to hold his breath 'hella long' he gains benefits well beyond the able liquid to turn against foes. Commanding waves and tidal surges to grant allies mobility and turning his hydrokinetic might on foes with ease he is a force to be reckoned with. Power Descriptions: Kimos core mutations are supernatural strength and durability that have no outward signs beyond his admittedly impressive physique. Even his aquatic adaptations have more to do with endurance and familiarity than obviously mutant origins. Hydrokinetics of course are far more obvious. Kanunu commands the waves through gesture the larger the effect the more full body the movement, a simple stomp may send choppy ripples or slick waters flowing to impede his foes while a full bodied sawy and thrust of his arms may send waves crashing or an extended arm to reach out and grasp a foe with bonds of watery doom. The most advanced explorations of his powers are more akin to dance than battle in appearance as he draws from his heritage as influence over his command of the seas. When calling forth a wave to ride on dry land he's able to pull the water from the air or a nearby water source as needed to build a cresting wave he and allies can ride, if they're willing to get a little wet. Complications: Ohana: The concept of Family is of great import to Kimo. You take care of family and they take care of you, more than that though family goes beyond the bonds of blood. Those who earn a place in his heart have a steadfast friend and supporter. Kuleana: Kimo knows his start as a hero was poor, he feels a deep need to do better this time around. Ha'Aha'A: Kimo has alot of doubts that he can live up to the big city heroes of Freedom, he has alot to prove to himself as well as the world. Moana: Kimo's hydrokinetics require water to work with and while his big wave flight ability doesn't require a water source pulling moisture from the air when needed it does need some moisture. In air too dry without an alternate source he'll be grounded. Ha: Kimo is not truly amphibious. He doesn't have gills or anything and needs to breath oxygen to survive. His mutations do however allow him to hold his breath 'Hella long' represented by his full immunity to suffocation, there isn't a set time limit but he can run out of air. Yea I can see your point with that. I'd probably move CA:TFA up to the top three, Iron Man 1 as well. Need to see Ant Man to really know where it should fall but my thoughts mostly fall in line with how key to the MCU they are and Ant Man while it sounds like a very good movie seems a little disconnected from the MCU as a whole. (granted not like Incredible Hulk or Iron Man 2 levels) I really liked the Dark World. But that may have been more for the characters being so spot on than the overall plot as the villain did fall very flat and it didn't feel very connected to the rest of the MCU which is a shame given how tied in so many of hte characters are.

Honestly, and this is perhaps colored much by my point of view as an American in the modern age, I'd have to put Captain America: The first Avenger at the cosmic tier. There are two qualities I think elevate it. First it was the first of the MCU movies to really feel like it was part of the MCU, with Howard Stark, the hints of Shields origins, the introduction of the cosmic cube. All of it really felt like it was setting the stage for a broader setting than Ironman did with its teasing and very tony centric plots. Secondly as you already said it really laid out what makes Cap Cap. And what we love about him. Now for the bit more cultural and amerocentric reasoning on that. I'm an intensely liberal American, my sister even more so and She's not even a comics fan at all so she went in as most of us did expecting/fearing a very jingoistic "Hu-rah 'murica!" vibe of the literal representation of the 'greatest generation' punching fascism in the the face. Now I had hedged my bets with knowing that Cap has had new deal liberalism stamped all over him for years so had some hope and was really jazzed they got it so very right. She walked out shocked and amazed that they'd gotten her and her hyper liberal anti-establishment hipster friends feeling downright patriotic and very engaged with Steve and Company saving the day. So I guess I elevate it because it is hard with a government as messed up as ours has been of late (IMHO) to get behind such obvious symbolism but the way it is presented makes it easy and that is more of a coup of filmmaking genius than I expected.

"Human nature is a tricky point really." Mike mussed quietly, "The only truly universal trait of humanity is it's ability to build social structures and physical structures for that matter in violation of the resting state of nature." he counters thoughtfully. "We can reason thus we can hold value in things beyond the natural drives to survive and continue our genetic legacy." he glances at the others with a sad shrug, "That some apply such value to accumulation of wealth or power at the expense of others is no more natural than those who would sacrifice all to help a stranger." Listening carefully to the next question Mike shook his head, "It's everyone's responsibility." he countered quickly, "All people of good intention ought do within their ability what they can, that is the only insulation one can have against bad actors empowered or not." With a short pause he considers his next statement carefully, "It is perhaps naive of me but I believe Humanity can get there, together, they may need a nudge here and there or someone to show the way, likely several someones really, but it can and I hope it will."

Ace stepped out of the unmarked AEGIS vehicle with a smirk, at least DC was full enough of 'non-descript black sedans' to make a black sedan actually non-descript. Straightening his hat to keep the rain off his face he looked up and down the street as he awaited the rest of the infiltration/extraction team to follow. "She's not far." he opined quietly, "She's affecting the weather here, and strongly, but not the kind of damage and danger the rest of the city is getting hit with." he pointed out and looked to the hotel across the foggy street. "We'll need on observer on the exterior, high up if possible to watch for runners." he suggested and eyed the team behind him, "And someone with an eye for detail to hit the room she was in look for any hint of where or how she left." he tapped a few buttons on his wrist com, "Stay in contact eyes open and be ready to converge if she goes on the move."

GM Post General Al Din stood pounding a fist on the table with surprising strength for a man of his advanced years, "What is the meaning of this?" he exclaimed his rapid fire arabic almost too much for the idols translating charm to keep up with as his words to the earth prime natives stretched and out of sync like a dubbed foreign film. "You avoid me and the palace for weeks and when you come you disrespect me and our guests?" he asked his son with a gesture to the interdimensional trio. Calming slightly he turned and offered apologies to the group on his sons behalf, "I apologize for the outburst. It is no excuse but the recent weeks have been trying for us all and my Son was close to Ace." he explained glancing to the captain expectantly. The younger Al Din for his part stiffened under Bombshells touch clearly discomfited by the sudden invasion of his personal space, though as planned his attention was not on the hand picking his pocket. He sunk into his chair glumly as she stepped away though eyed her warily lest she repeat the action. Eyes downcast he shook his head, "I mean no disrespect to you or our guests father." he admitted and frowned down at the table "I know if you are friends of Ace's you must be mighty warriors in your own right." he acknowledged carefully, "But the danger is too great." he intoned solemnly, "If I thought there was any chance Ace was still in there I'd lead the sortie myself." he assured them, "It has been difficult to come to grips with his absence I admit." he explained sadly, "But..." He looked off to Dimitris odd behavior and frowned. Behind talyas back Erics hand closed around neatly bound leather book, much akin to the diaries or journals to be found in better bookstores on earth. Though it seemed mundan to cursory examination it tickled his meta Magi senses with strange quantum energies. The captain found his voice once more and nodded slowly, "You all would be walking into grave danger and Ace is gone." he finally intoned wearily.

ACES CHARLES, JUST ACES BY HGM This Version of Ace should be archived as his current version is in a separate thread: Ace Danger Retire: Meson, a little too grimdark for me it turns out. At least for now. My reward Tracker should list 2 of 3 rewards spent currently (Once Meson is retired he never made it on the tracker anyway) And the Ace Danger link in the tracker should link to the Current Version

My impression has always been that protection (particularly not without impervious) it's up to descriptors for how shots etc work. Like someone like Nighthawk bullets and shots and such might break the skin but not cause much impairment. Or like Peter Parker takes punch from a dude that pulls helicopters out of the air and ends up with a black eye but can still get shots normally. I think unless it's a complication or you have Noticeable on it it's not an issue if you don't want it to be. -
Mike gave a subtle shrug, "Whatever you'd like really." he said, "Me, you, the school." he listed but a few, "I'm sure the adjustment to Claremont must be difficult." he acknowledged carefully setting his hand lightly on his thighs as he met her eyes, "It's trying even for students who expect it in some ways, legacies to live up to and all that." he murmured recalling his own friends experiences. Looking down a bit sadly he added, "It must be difficult in more and different ways for you." he admitted not claiming to understand but clearly empathizing with the difficulties. At her final statement he quirked a brow, "You expect them too?" Mike asked wondering what sort of mischief she could get up to that the school would wash its hands of her.

Looking at the seating available on the bus mike frowned slightly, he was loath to take up seats that others could use however clearly individuals of his stature clearly had not been in mind when the seating was designed. He finally settled on the seat opposite Robin and neatly folded himself to take up as little space as possible that others might need despite the relative emptiness of the bus. He met her gaze and shook his head, "No need to apologize." he assured and took a moment to look out the window and let the tension settle before speaking again. "Hmmm." he rumbled in his chest as he considered her admittedly somewhat juvenile response, and moreover how best to address it. "I suppose it's different for everyone." he finally settled on, "And not easy to find sometimes." his hooded gaze was somewhat sad at the last as he looked back to her, "At the least I hope it will be a good place to chat." he acknowledged assuming honest statement of his goals was never the wrong approach.

Mike let the venture at the Goodman Building lie, if she'd wanted to say more she probably would have though his warm smile softened at how closed off she was over the experience. Not frightened just, disappointed? He'd have to try to come back to it another time. "It is yes." Mike agreed gently. He shook his head, "Not as often as I used too." he admitted a bit sadly as his schedule of late was rather impacted, but in truth even the peace of the park was still crowded out by the noises and lights of the city unless he specifically closed them out. Standing moments before the bus rumbled into view and stepping forward to where it would stop he smiled, "It's important I think to have a place you feel at peace even fleetingly." he said with a shrug and took a measured step back from the curb as the bus approached and lurched to a stop.

GM Post The Steam Sheik cast down his eyes at word of the elder Dangers declining health, "The man seemed as timeless as-" His murmured words were cut off by Dimitris frigid embrace though the elderly General returned the hug with a hearty back pat of his own and only a slight shiver as he was released. Gathering himself the General and former Ally of Freedom was thoughtful for a long moment, "We could spare a few men, top notch soldiers." he guaranteed, "But it would be dangerous, to assault the foundry the first time we took a full division while the spent their strength in the streets assaulting the palace." The young Captain stood shaking his head, "You can not!" he countered firmly, "You would send our men on this suicide mission to recover a Martyr's corpse?" he shook his head, "Ace is beyond the reach of steamwork and man." he said angrily and turned with sadness in his eyes well concealed to those less tuned to hidden emotion than the trio before him, "I am sorry we can not do more, But your friend is gone." His insistence carried a weight of belief behind it that it seemed outweighed the interdimensional trios insistence upon Aces immortality. As he spoke the final words his hand went to a pocket of his large coat a subliminal hint of the source of his certainty to those trained to seek such weakness.

"Well just let me know if you change your mind." Mike replied with an easy smile, "You deserve to know if you decide you want to." he added firmly but said no more on the subject for the time being though his tone suggested more personal investment in that particular matter than his relationship, or lack thereof, with her would explain. He met her gaze as she thanked him and nodded silently as he checked the time on his watch and the bus schedule, "Doesn't mean doing something isn't worthwhile." he pointed out as he nodded at the schedule and glanced to her and shook his head, "If you want to go to the Fens I'm happy to see where you grew up." he admitted and shrugged himself broad shoulders flexing under the unseasonably warm turtleneck and sweater vest he wore like some kind of hipster Mr. Rodgers, "But I wouldn't presume." he assured her and tilted his head and squinted his eyes down the street for a moment before stepping back to seat himself on the bench, "Going to be a few minutes yet." he told her and though he ensured he'd left plenty of space for her to sit comfortably he did not suggest such beyond that gesture. "Have you been to Riverside park?" he asked almost as if she was from out of town rather than a neighborhood that was perhaps a twenty minute taxi ride from the park, but without judgement simply acceptance that such a journey may not have been possible for her. "I find it relaxing but it's not everyone's cup of tea." he acknowledged with a smile, "But it is quiet and private without being alone." he said with a fond sigh.

Mike's handshake was gentle even over cautious despite the details in her file as to her own significant durability. He swept his gaze over her and the stiff demeanor, forced politeness, closed in body language. It didn't take a master of the human condition like Alex or Trevor to see the young woman was not comfortable here. He thanked Dr. Marquez and waved goodbye as he fell in step with his charge for the afternoon as he walked with her toward the main quad and turned toward the main entrance, if she was uncomfortable here best to get her somewhere she was more comfortable. "I was thinking we'd head off campus to talk, if that sounds good to you of course." he offered and held up his bus pass, "My treat." he added with a smirk not bothering to ask if she needed to drop off the bag, that was clearly an item that rarely left her sight. As they crossed under the arched gate and Mike signed her out with the attendant there he turned to her to add, "They gave me your file to look over, help me better help you." the tall man explained and raised a brow as he asked, "Would you like to see it?"
-
Mike closed the file he'd been sent as the bus came to a stop at the base of the drive leading up to the prestigious Claremont Academy. He smiled and thanked the bus driver wishing her a good day before stepping off the final step and looking up at the school. When it had come time to get teaching assistant credits his former school seemed a natural choice. Now it seemed full of memories, most good granted but somehow more distant than he'd expected. As he crossed through the gates it was clear to him it was not the same or perhaps it was he who had changed. There were more than years now between him and this place, and given his assigned duty for the day that was probably for the best. After a brief stop by the administrative office to get the visitor badge that so rarely was actually worn by the school's rare visitors Mike awaited his assigned student in the large foyer of the Cooke wing his fingertips brushing the hem of the bronzed statue of Matthias as he had before many tests in his tenure here. Looking toward Marquez's office he sat and awaited the student within to finish her session taking care not to inadvertently listen in. When Robin emerged he rose and waved to the good doctor extending a hand, "You must be Ms. Chevalier." he greeted gently, "I'm Mike, Mike Harris." He glanced to Marquez to double check the counselor had informed her of their impending meeting then back to Robin with a polite smile.

"Just once I'd like to get through a fight not smelling like bear pee..." Huang murmured to himself as the smoke and smell erupted overhead and with a gesture summoned the telltale floating runes of his protective magics. Peering through the gloom not for the first time wishing more of that vampire stuff had stuck Ouroboros smiled, "You know beautiful it is and where there is smoke and bear pee what you're looking for can't be far behind." he opined and pointed toward the dorms hoping he was right and Nighthawk and Woodsman would prove as inseparable as usual. Planting his feet he incanted gathering power in his palms, "By Abbridon, Heshem, and Lamal, the power of the Triluminary is manifest in the light of the Modrossus!" And with a thrust of his palms a searing blue white light carved through the gathering gloom lancing toward the shadowy forms at the edge of Sekmets light. "This way." Ouroboros called before leading the charge toward what he hoped was a hole he'd carved in the encircling shadows as he tried to unite his group with his classmates nearer the buildings.

Overpowered Sheets Ahoy - Edge and Monsoon
angrydurf replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Archives
Monsoon! - For skills/feats is it just thematics you're going with acrobatic bluff over using her very high Bluff? I've always taken Bluffs in combat to not necessarily be verbal Like a feint being able to lie with your eyes/body language whereas Acrobatic bluff is more akin to ninja flips to attack from unexpected angles. I think the powers section may need some clean up and notation to make clearer what is part of each device and what is not. Particularly with the armor enhancing her Noahic Array as I'm not sure what the AP she gets from the armor is? Also Descriptors for the scimitar and armor probably. Edge - He's missing leadership? Seems mechanically to be a solid choice for him though I guess the spend/give HP to others might duplicate that. Not clear on when he'd want to let toughness saves through so selective on protection seems odd. Without PC villains does he need the cancel HP expenditures of others? I'd think even in a Mind controlled/replaced by clones/robots scenario it would still be a fiat not a PC expenditure. Well except if Mark is mind controlled I guess... (*shudders*) You might want to tweak teleport to get Change velocity/direction for those save the falling civilians scenarios and progression as I think the weight limit doesn't scale up with ranks. getting rank eight instead of ten allows you to get 2000mile range, change direction/velocity and progression 8 for 25,000lbs of transport. -
Phalanx regarded the entity warily for a long moment. "Pride would be to assume no other could stop him." he replied starkly fixing the manifestation a firm and uncompromising gaze. "If you required only gratitude you'd not have to offer your aid and have it be accepted." the broad shouldered paragon spoke plainly and though in some ways still naive, "If all you required was gratitude you would know you would have it merely by helping me help them." he explained with a shake of his head, "You say gratitude but it is not what you mean." Phalanx was firm and unyielding. "You ask a price however small for what any decent person would offer without thought." Phalanx answered, "So why then are you here?" Casting about far and wide Phalanx turned his potent senses to find the enemy or those that might be seeking him as well, "An offer that seems to good to be true usually is."
