  1. Ellis blushed slightly at the response. His own specialty wasn't exactly tortuous, well beyond the on call schedule of being on the transplant team. "Point ta-" he began to reply as everything seemed to go very poorly in very short order, "It can't be..." he recoiled at the thought and planting a mask over his face looked closer at the telltale swelling. "Lock the doors now." he hissed to the nearest nurse urgently, "Get them to Isolation everyone else has to stay here." he said motioning to the patient and the unfortunate doctor covered in blood. "We're in quarantine and get a call in to the CDC." he ordered with calm he did not feel. After recent events this was no coincidence. As the staff swung into action he turned to the worried intern on his far side looking after the pair with fear in his eyes, "Was that..?" the young doctor asked only to receive a quiet nod from Ellis, "Yes, Plague." he replied.
  2. Sandman shook his head slightly at the girls words. He hadn't been in this business long and certainly not at this high profile an event. But he knew loss of family. If a girl had gone missing this morning and no body recovered the beach might have been reopened it was unlikely but tourism was a powerful force. What was not possible was that that girls family would not be combing that beach, or that they would be remaining silent as a lava monster emerged from it. For all the bystanders this was exciting a rare chance to see heroes in action not a terrifying glimpse of what may have taken a loved one from them. "It's not right." he'd whisper to Fluer, "Someone should be looking for her." he tried to keep his voice low and muttered under his breath, "Communists?" and looking to Frost then back to the girl shook his head. Her powers were tied to her emotions the earlier rumblings had confirmed that. Losing fifty years and all you knew was not the kind of thing one took in stride. Not when pushed as far as this girl already had been today. "We have to get her out of here. To somewhere safe and controlled." he said firmly and turned as the sands of his barrier melted away and with a gesture the ephemera of sleep given form snaked out to coil gently around the Lava creature, "Let's just hope she still sleeps." he murmured mostly to himself as he attempted to pull the lava creature from the waking world.

  4. Sandman wasn't entirely sure what to do though at least the bystanders were cleared off by his barricade while the league went to work on containing or, talking to? the crisis. At Stesha's protest his brow furrowed and he took a half step forward but really knew better than to think he had a better chance of stopping Frost than her, or the rest of the league for that matter, with powers or persuasion and stopped at the gesture. "We can help." he assured her and winced slightly as she reached for Frosts hand unsure what the meeting of such elemental forces might result n he strengthened his barrier in case the result was as explosive as Gian knight had suggested. "I might have a safer-" he tried to warn.
  5. I recommend arraying it off your enhanced strength, it's pretty rare you're wanting to punch and shoot in the same round. at 16 PP you can get 6 ranks of ranged damage and 4 accurate on the attack for a DC 6, +14 Attack accuracy shifted PL 10 power. Accuracy over power makes sense given that it goes where she looks and all. It also fairly naturally grows with you as you raise strength to hit higher PL caps.
  6. Sandman nodded impassively to growly womans comments, "It is unlikely to be true creatures of hte nightmare realms." he agreed, "I would not wish to intru-" at the others assurances however he smiled slightly and thanked Fluer quietly for the food, "If I had known earlier a nightmare incursion was all it took to get you to call." he teased before they were whisked off to the not so sunny beaches of hawaii. Closing his eyes and extending a hand he shook his head, "As you suspected ma'am no true nightmares." he actually sounded relieved as an incursion of that nature could well portend far worse. Listening to the incoherent grunts and growls he shook his head, "It is no sentient tongue, elemental or otherwise." he explained with a nod. He looked to the crowd and the angered creature and shot a questioning look to the other heroes, "Perhaps defenses are in order?" he suggested and with a gesture conjured a wall of ephemeral sand blocking the creature from reaching the bystanders.
  7. Ellis palpated the next patient's lymph nodes as he waited on the thermal strip to register a temperature, "Alright you're good." he said checking the strip to find no fever, "Take these then take the blue slip to the door and you should be just fine ma'am." he assured her as he handed off the prophylactic antivirals and slip noting her free of the prevalent symptoms. "Next!" he called and began the short list of questions, "Any joint pain or headache?" and so forth before sticking hte next thermal strip into the patients mouth and continuing the exam. "I have an ex-roomate in plastics, off in San Diego, Getting 300k a year to fix starlets noses and claim they had 'exhaustion' to the press." he said to the next doc down the line conversationally.
  8. Medicine check to see if there is anything medically wrong with the boy that caused the loss of consciousness. 1d20+14=19 Thanks orkos I needed that... Well at least diagnosis is only DC 10
  9. Ellis was just putting his final post op notes in on the late night transplant he'd been called in for when his phone rang. Seeing the caller ID he made his last signature and called for the resident to call him if there was anything else and took the first turn into a more private corner of the hospital, "Hey I'm-" he broke off and nodded into the phone as it was business not pleasure, "Yes of course, Freedom hall?" he inquired as he headed for the lockers hoping the early hour between shifts kept them empty enough that his change would go unnoticed. In a flash of light his clothes were replaced by the blue and white hooded uniform of Sandman and with but a moments concentration he joined the group in the hall the short jaunt through the dreamlands passing between the ticks of the clock. "I'm Sandman." he introduced to those he hadn't met, "Ste- Fluer mentioned nightmare creatures?"
  10. You might get more bang for your buck if you array the Blast off your enhanced strength rather than super senses as it's pretty rare that you end up wanting to do punching and blasting in the same round and keeping your senses up tends to be more useful often. Not sure why you skipped out on the poison/disease immunities from life support (and the math seems off there too) but with an average Fort save for a PL 10 and no immunity he's shockingly vulnerable to knockout gas/drops/darts etc. for a paragon and one would think alien physiology and all he'd be less vulnerable to such things.
  11. If you want to keep the flavor you could go with a complication/drawback variation on the standard, "Must be able to speak and gesture" on the magic array. Then you are able to whip up the circle as an effect of casting (though it won't be a physical barrier) and still be limited that if you lose your chalk or don't have space you end up blocked from casting like someone who gets gagged or what not.
  12. GM Post The guns swung in careful arcs as each new potential threat appeared. Seemingly satisfied with his readings the commander motioned for the soldiers to lower their weapons and they slowly did so though only to a ready position. Ragged the squad may have been but they were no green troops that much was easy to see. As Talya invoked her erstwhile comrades name the commander looked stricken for a moment and gave the smallest shake of his head before beginning to speak, "I am afrai-" he broke off and eyed them uncertainly for a long moment, "Perhaps the general can explain better." he suggested and calmed the dog with a pat to the flanks. He turned and barked a quick command for the troops to turn for home and they broke out into a loose patrol formation as the commander offered further explanation, "Dogs can sniff through the glamour the advanced steamworks sometimes use." with a whistle the dog was off at a trot to poke at nearby entrances, "And sonic mines." he added ruefully. "Most of them went down when we took out the foundries," his words had a hollow ring that was all too familiar to Dimitri, a victory at too high a cost. "The General will be able explain more he was there." he added carefully, "You are, friends? of Ace Danger?"
  13. GM Post Moving past the crumpled hulk of the colossal steamworks monstrosity the drums grew much louder the drummers must have been only a few streets away. Low celebratory cheers interspersed the drumming and a few high trilling undulations echoing off the empty buildings around them. As Frost rounds a corner he can easily see a rag tag band of soldiers or perhaps revolutionaries picking through the streets with a large dog of indeterminate breed lapping at their heels. As they noticed Dimitri they leveled weapons though the apparent commander signaled for them to hold fire, "This area was overrun by the Steamworks." he intoned cautiously, "How do you come to be here?" at his side the dog began to yip and growl at the unnatural ice beast before them and the soldiers tired but well trained went on alert, "No further!" the squad leader commanded as he pulled a device from his belt and aimed it at Dimitry as he fiddled with knobs along the side, "No boiler." he said with confusion and the guns didn't waver, "Can't be a Steamwork with no boiler what is it..." he murmured examining Comrade frost with grave concern. Jack and Talya it seemed had gone unnoticed behind Frost where they lurked just out of sight.
  14. *whump* Ace cracked an eye at the noise against the window and shook his head, "Silly bir-" *Whump Whump Whump* the ageless adventurer popped upright from the lovely tudor couch he'd fallen asleep on and frowned. One bird flying into the reinforced glass of Danger! Manor was slapstick of hte highest order, four in rapid succession was something worth far more attention, if only to chase off a confused film crew shooting a windex ad. Peeking out the window he saw the skys darken with avian antagonists and shook his head, "Well there goes the neighborhood." Dashing out the front door brocaded silk smoking jacket billowing behind him him he called out to a neighbor, "Get inside, no stop taking pictures what is wrong with kids today!" he exclaimed at the retirees snapping pictures of the attack with their phones. Bustling them into their home just in time he turned and dodged an oncoming flight of ravens with a shake of his head as he saw fellow heroes emerge from the surroundings and ran to join them, "That my friends," he said with a gesture to the circling corvids, "Is a murder most fowl."
  15. It's a blend of magic and alternate timeline technology. Elemental magics are used to enhance materials which in turn allow outrageous steamworks and sonic devices like out of a pulp novel. The magics well studied enough that they are more another discipline of science than the mystic arts of Prime. Likewise electricity, electronics, radio technologies were either never developed or underperformed by comparison.
  16. I can see having Mike stop in for a hot beverage and get roped into such conversation sounds fun!
  17. Using Emotion Control 10 (Sands of Calm; Extras: Area (Shapeable, +1), Selective (+1); Flaws: Limited (Calm Only, -1); Feats: Reversible, Progression 10 (Rank x1000 5' Cubes); Drawbacks: Noticeable (-1)) {40/40} (Dream, Mental, Magic) to calm the children.
  18. With a nod Sandman took the Grues hand, "I am called the Sandman." he intoned quietly which like as not came off as terribly mysterious despite primarily being an artifact of his discomfort with the heroic moniker phenomenon. Looking over the building and the grounds outside he frowned slightly, "Hmmm," the dream guardian hummed thoughtfully and looked back to the fellow heroes, "It would seem whatever has entrapped those who remain is entrapped as well." he noted and turned his attention to the children with a softening of his features. "I imagine violence will come sooner than we'd like." he suggested to Echo direly, "For the moment perhaps we ought offer comfort and see what can be learned from the witnesses." With that he strode the group of frightened children and their ad hoc caretakers, "You are safe here now." he said gently crouching down next to the child who was not crying as drifting motes of iridescent sand rained down in a calming fall over the other children, "We're here to help, what did you see?" he asked gently moving naturally to the child's level his voice full of the practiced calm of an adult well used to worried youngsters.
  19. GM Post The situation in the streets was no better Ancient walls were pitted and pockmarked by gunfire scorch marks marred the cobbles and brickwork in places though all was clearly weeks old at the least. High overhead Dimitri could make out faint outlines of a few airships slowly circling at great height, the metallic hulls warmed by the suns heat and bright pinpoints of the boilers onboard. If there had been a revolution it was over, if recently, though who had won was still hard to say. Turning a corner the trio found themselves on a wide boulevard, barricades and craters blocked the street at various places and crumpled wrecks of steam tanks loomed silent vigil. At the far end of the roadway a colossal clockwork lay fallen against a building mostly blocking the path. It's heavy armor scorched and battered but intact as if rather than succumbing form the fire of the assembled war machines it had simply gone inert and collapsed into the neighboring building like so much scrap. Beyond the wreck the sounds of drumming grew louder echoing down the broad street the only signs of discernable life on the ground.
  20. Sounds good I can work with that. Probably won't get a lot of detail till he gets inside but then be able to work back to the source.
  21. Notice check for tracking! 12d20+10=24
  22. Looking for recent passage of dream creatures through the area with Super-Senses 9 (Dream Sense; Dream Awareness (Mental) 1, Ranged 1, Radius 1, Accurate 2, Acute 1, Analytical 1, Tracking 2 Extras: none, Flaws: none, Feats: none, Drawbacks: none) [9PP] (Dream, Mental, Magic) particularly the tracking element.
  23. Elis was visiting the ER on a consult when the radio at the nurses station squawked the alert of a disturbance in the West End. The nurse turned it down ignoring it as it was well outside the hospital's service area unless the closer hospitals managed to fill up. None the less he had heard enough to piece together a picture of what was going on, nightmare creations were not always literal nightmares but it bore checking out. Stepping into a supply closet his coat and business casual attire faded replaced by the blue and white costume of Sandman, with a thought he stepped through the dreamlands emerging outside the school not far from the command center. Sandman straightened the deep cowl of his hood as he approached the men in charge scanning the surroundings for signs of dream creatures. Few true denizens of dream or nightmare could could hide their passage from his senses for long. "How many still inside?" he asked plainly, turning his pupiless gaze upon the officer in charge. The children had to be the priority, then they could deal with the hostiles.
  24. GM Post The material of the containers appeared to be assorted dried vegetable matter and assorted jars of fine powders, assorted spices and herbs most likely though the scent was weak as if they'd sat exposed for far too long to be of use any longer. This room at least had been long abandoned by whatever proprietors had used it previously. The door and lock were easily undone by the meta-magi's dimensional blade, looming in the doorway as the wood crumbled away was a clockwork automaton dust and cobwebs were thick on the machine as well though it stood unmoving and inert. Beyond the bestilled robot was a short stairway leading up into some sort of shop. Perhaps a cafe or apacathery of some kind? with the dust and broken crockery it was difficult to determine it's original purpose. What was certain is that the abandonment of this establishment had not been a peaceful one. Broken furniture and shelves spilled glass and pottery jars of long dry materials onto the floor, a register stood open with cash and coin untouched flowing arabic script looped around the abstract geometric patterns of classical islamic art. The streets beyond the shattered windows were empty though the vague sounds of drums could still be heard reverberating through the abandoned streets.
  25. Yea the door or lock can be smashed easily by the skills/powers of at least Jack or Dimitri, Talya might even do it with a solid power attack or two. It will make noise but not much reason to think that'sa problem at this point!
