My plans tend to vary alot on the thread in question. Generally I try to tune up my NPCs (Minions or villains) to the group I'm running for. For instance with one or two characters with take-down attack or AOEs you can up the number of minions substantially(and probably should). Likewise look at the trade-offs the characters are bringing and try to create some parity, it's not much fun for big damage shifted bruisers to spend the thread hoping a lucky roll gets them a hit, likewise if that lucky roll comes early in the fight it can be a let down all around. Then you want to make sure nothing the characters have is going to trivialize the match up (grabbing the mcGuffin with accurate teleport is far simpler than fighting through the maze of goon ridden tunnels, Nor do you want an insurmountable block, like if no one has computers don't make them hack the mainframe to shut down the self destruct. For less personalized adventures my go to is 2-3 characters of a given PL will generally be challenged by 1 enemy 2 PLs higher. If you have a group larger than 2-3 and don't want them to fight a team of similar level enemies then I generally split PLs making them offensively around maybe +2 PLs over the group and defensively more like +4 or +5 PLs. That way they won't go down just being mobbed but won't just finish off each PC in turn. For minions I usually keep them in the lower PL range, take advantage of combined attack and aid actions to have groups of 5-9 minions effectively be one higher threat entity. This of course depends alot on what the specifics are, mercenaries or criminal henchmen ala bond or batman are good at PL 4-6 (6 being maybe officers/leaders) Dread cultists usually range in the Pl 1-3 spread and any leader types much over htat might be better built as low PL villians themselves. Summoned demons or alien invaders of course can span much higher into the 10+ range even. Lastly don't be afraid to both give out and give reason to spend Hero points. They let PCs do the cool stuff that makes the stories rock and adds alot of drama to a story. HP does not have to be just a combat thing, if one PC is super strong and you need them distracted while hte nimble villain duels a more athletic teammate give them some bystanders to save from falling statuary or buildings or careening vehicles. And don't be afraid to let the bad guys win. Remember this isn't some dark and dank Iron Age setting, most villains want to get away more than they want to beat the heroes (unless the point of the thread is a nemesis showdown) If hte heroes intrupt the robbery or kidnapping and the villains manage to fight off hte heroes to escape thats fine. It sets up a good build up for a future thread where the more experienced or prepared heroes take it to the villains. Similarly don't worry about villains failing, in many cases all the heroes really need to do is disrupt the lunar annihilator beam not pummel doctor destructo to a pulp, that can be a win even if the villain escapes to fight another day.

Huang settled on the balls of his feet into a loose stance showing some basic understanding of how not to fall down when hit at the least and shook his head, "Mostly they have me working on the cuban missile crisis." he replied with a sigh, "Oh and some lovely rounds of staple pulling," he added with a snort, "I'm sure it's all very Mr. Myagi and will come together at the end of the training montage." he joked lightly but kept his eyes on jack the whole time not trusting the nimble swordsman for a moment. "I've picked up a few things from my great uncle and dad gave me a few pointers." he agreed with a small frown, "Something about a maniac with a magic stealing whip and a death wish." Huang offered with a shrug, "But you know Dad," he suggested with a toothy grin, "If they see you coming you're doing it wrong." Huang maintained his loose imperfect stance as he focused on his heartbeat and the blood surging through his veins drawing on the strength of his inhuman ancestry as he prepared for whatever came next. After all when your father was the thing that went bump in the night you learned vigilance if nothing else.

Ace Danger Power Level: 10 (211/211PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: +1 Attack / -1 Damage, ±0 Defense / ±0 Toughness In Brief: Daring Boy Adventurer who grows into a Superspy and Immortal Playboy. Catchphrase: Theme: Alternate Identity: None Birthplace: Freedom City Residence: Danger Manor, North Bay, Freedom City Base of Operations: Danger Manor, North Bay, Freedom City Occupation: International Man of Mystery Affiliations: Allies of Freedom*, Danger Industries, Liberty League*, AEGIS*, Freedom League*, The Jungle Patrol* (*Former Ally/Member) Family: The Danger Family Description: Age: 90 (July 4th 1925) Apparent Age: 22 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 6' Weight: 185lbs Eyes: Blue Hair: Blond Ace has a sturdy six foot frame not overly muscled but certainly well defined in an almost careless way that suggests given effort he could develop quite the physique. His head is topped by thick blonde locks that are maintained in a perfect semblance of disarray. He retains much of his fathers classic lines but softened slightly, a strong jaw and chin, but not quite chiseled, his bright blue eyes always have a slight twinkle of mischief dancing in them. Despite his advanced age he appears an attractive man of 24. He dresses well socially though favors a somewhat beaten down Fedora and bomber jacket while "on duty", and favors a kind of retro chic look without looking like he can't keep up with the times. History: The first of the Danger children was born on July 4th 1925, named Ace after Ace Adams his godfather also his father's pilot and close companion through many an adventure. His early childhood was fairly normal despite his father's extended absences with two more siblings following A brother and a sister (the youngest) over the next five years. The family relocated to Africa where his famed father made his fortune in diamonds of dubious origins by today's standards. Once Ace reached the age of eight his father decided to make up for lost time and Ace joined him on his various adventures throughout the 30's and into the early 40's despite the dangers Ace enjoyed this time though he was always felt he had fallen short of his fathers larger than life expectations of his first born. As Ace came of age his brother was included in more and more of his father's travels and Ace found himself at loose ends. While he could certainly claim a unique education it was perhaps even worse suited than he was to academia. Eventually, wishing to prove himself on his own merits he lied about his age and signed up with the army his skills, and family name, earning him placement with the sometimes empowered special forces operating often behind enemy lines. After the War it wasn't long before his maverick stylings and controversial activities had him discharged (honorably thanks to family connections) to his father's deep disappointment. After his socially disastrous, if technically successful, military career Ace fell to the baser accusations of his father and became the exact layabout his father claimed him to be and dear old dad seemed to just give up and instead focused on his second born Rex. By 1950 Ace had earned quite the reputation as a libertine and despite the efforts of Little sister Donna to control the rumors he was steadily eroding the family's reputation. Her answer was simple and with some maneuvering of family money and contacts she neatly made him someone else's problem as he was inducted into service with the CIA where he was the very picture of the dashing spy later immortalized in print and film. He roamed the world much as he had with his father only now it was a deadly game of cat and mouse with the Soviets rather than thwarting Nazi schemes. He was well suited to the work and relished the risk. Due to his unique contacts and knowledge from his days traveling with his father he was assigned to the more esoteric missions no simple spying on ambassadors for Johnny Dangers son when there were communist backed voodoo cults in Havana or Soviet researchers developing doomsday devices in the himalayas. His fast and loose interpretation of regulations kept him fairly stationary in the organization despite his successes but at least he wasn't bored. It was during this time that his training with Shambala monks and blessings from witch doctors and voodoo queens led to some of his more extraordinary abilities though he carefully hid these from his antsy employers given the political climate. It was only natural that when the fledgling AEGIS organization cropped up he was optioned off to it though that barely lasted a year before he was drummed out for disrespecting a superior officer. The family stepped in once more to keep the specifics quiet but he was still blacklisted form government work. By this time his sister and her children were fully running Danger Industries and his father was retired having passed the torch to Rex who continued to live up to all of the Danger elders expectations. Ace for his part also prided himself on living up to every claim his father made. He with pride says that his actions alone supported the fledgling tabloid industry through the sixties and early seventies and it's not far from the truth. He publicly partook of much of the worst the decades had to offer and was the center of most major scandals of the era. Likely he much like the rest of the country would have continued on the self destructive course they were on if not for the Big One. The Terminus invasion was a rather brutal wake-up call for everyone but it was particularly so for Ace. His brother Rex had recently spirited him away from yet another party gone too far when the call came in. The city was under attack. Rex being Rex immediately spun the car in the direction of the trouble and told Ace to stay out of the way if he could. They never even had a chance as the burning lance of energy sliced through the car. Ace's last memory was his brothers scream as they were both vaporized. Ace woke up still in the tangled wreckage of the car after it was all over. In the end Rex was yet another in a long list of Heroes who fell in the invasion, Ace was sure to embellish the story the press got, to everyone else Rex went out like a Hero should. His brothers death affected Ace strongly, he had experience and more than a few tricks up his sleeve, he would do what Rex would have wanted. He became a Hero too, though granted still with his own specific idiom. In hero work a handsome smile and flare for the dramatic turned out to be as much a benefit as it had been a hindrance in his days at the agency. Of course he still had his father's globe trotting tendencies and soon was swept up in events throughout the world. His niece Rachel is fairly supportive of such activities but has slowly convinced him to stick to freedom city for now on and with Ace Danger is back in town the funs sure to start soon. Personality & Motivation: Ace has really been training for the Hero gig almost since birth and despite some unorthodox methods he's good at it. He's a larger than life personality from a larger than life family and lives it up as such. To most appearances he's a shallow attention grabbing playboy with too many toys, and that's not entirely inaccurate but he does have a strong sense of justice and feels a responsibility for the people of freedom. Rex's death pulled him out of a pretty self destructive spiral but that hasn't kept him from having fun while doing good in the here and now. Coming up and living his long life in the public eye as a hero or sidekick as the times have called for has left him distinctly out of touch with those less immersed in the world of high adventure. He knows no life but the absurd one that he calls his own and knows a certain loneliness drawn from that. Even other Heroes often have downtime or off camera moments, for Ace every day is another day on duty and privacy, though not secrecy, is all but unknown. Powers & Tactics: Every person who asks how Ace got his talents gets a different answer each more unbelievable than the last some of them are probably even true. He has been blessed by mystics of many traditions for long life and that's likely the actual core reason for his immortality, He most often will say however that he's to pretty to die. In his travels he has also picked up more than a few tricks. He has learned many martial arts forms from various groups through the years that has left him a capable hand to hand fighter though no specific style really take preeminence and his fathers wicked left hook is still his most signature move. He has also trained with various yogi's and mystics throughout the world to hone his mind and has picked up on the tricks that he most liked granting him a suite of mind tricks harnessing the power of his mind. He has also made some upgrades to his home to better fit with his new "super" lifestyle, using daka crystals he has pulled it off the grid and installed a communications and computing suite made it in his mind the perfect luxurious base of operations. He augments his training and vast collection of super tech and mysterious curios with some special items from his days as boy adventurer and super spy. The famed Danger!Mobile and it's suite of counter pursuit addons and specialized equipment for operation in the skies and seas is the most famous certainly but the Danger!Jet and it's cloaking and VTOL capabilities have gotten him into and out of some hairy situations. The S.S. Danger! seems at first glance little more than a pampered dilettantes luxury yacht, yet with but a few small adjustments and extensions it can vary it's appearance from Junk, to sailing yacht, to commercial fisher and more, for truly stealthy endeavors of course the craft can convert to submersible mode with advanced cloaking devices rendering it all but undetectable. Power Descriptions: Most of Aces powers are of a subtle nature, mental techniques and skills or his immortal nature are not obvious in nature. He has however a long life of adventures steeped in the science and magic of a thousand cultures and even worlds. This results in a motley collection of devices, talismans, techniques, and maneuvers that he can call upon when the situation demands, Whether it be calling forth his inner fire to melt an icy prison, assembling a makeshift lathe to craft a weapon upon, or drawing forth a treasure or relic of power from his past adventures Ace has a long life of interesting times to draw upon. Complications: Disarmed!: Aces Interesting Times VP isn't able to be taken away completely but if he is stripped of his assorted gadgets he can't put the points into devices without some kind of work around for the missing items. Fame: He's THE Ace Danger Code of Honor: Hero code: don't kill or main, no torture, protect innocents etc. Ace follows it as much as he seems to be reluctant to. The trio drew a few looks from passerby as the men hovered over the sick woman, an older gentleman offering Erik and Dimitri a small sympathetic nod as he hustled past most of the women haughtily ignoring the three dimensional interlopers with the ease of the monied aristocracy ignoring the 'little people'. However it didn't take long for the distinctly out of place group to draw more official attention. What must have been a uniformed officer approached, a tall woman with nearly three inches on either of the men, wearing what to the prime natives appeared to be bronze and leather armor out of grecian antiquity if not for the hints of mystic sigils inlaid across the cuirasse, at one hip sat a silvery lariat and the other a labrys of some almost black metal. "A little excessive celebration at the festivals ma'am?" she inquired of Talya dismissing the men out of hand for the moment, "Would you like me to call you a cab?" she inquired and glanced with almost maternal concern towards the men, "You gents alright? Need a hand getting her home?" Her lips didn't quite sync with her words and it was clear some force was translating her words on the fly from whatever her native tongue was to that the individuals were most accustomed to.

Huang hinted at a smile at the oblique reference to his father's misspent youth that had led him the long and circuitous path to where he was today. He glanced around his corner of hte formless void given form by his will or desire he was no longer certain and frowned slightly, "Uhm." he vocalized as he did break into a grin, "As fond as my memories of ghost tag are and as much as I still enjoy a good round with JJ that isn't exactly my speed mom." he pointed out delicately not even venturing into the realm of what social suicide a sixteen year old suggesting his friends come over for any kind of tag spectral or not would be. "And I think dusty tombs are as great as the next guy but," he paused as he considered revealing his quick jaunt to the valley of kings and thought better of it, "uh, no not really my thing." he ended awkwardly and rushed to continue before that line of speech was picked apart much further, "Kinda hard to work on summonings and enchantments without, well you know." he shrugged as her prohibition on ritual magic was enforced far beyond mere commandment and mystically blocked his ability to channel such forces.

For a long moment it seemed nothing was happening beyond Frosts bloody display. The vampire could feel the artifact rebel against the foreign magics empowering it before its enchantments flared to life. A soft golden glow began at the solar plexus of each participant in the ritual and matched by the same on the idol they held. Then in an instant the light grew to a blinding flash and a warm almost tropical breeze seemed to flow over the trio as with a lurching twist of time and space they fell into rhythm with a new universe. When their senses cleared Frost, Bombshell, and Jack found themselves not in a banal office park in a freedom suburb, but rather crouched upon the manicured lawns of a sprawling park dotted with nods to classical architecture and art. Some distance away they could make out a skyline familiar yet distinct from the skies of the Freedom City they knew, spires and domes dominated the skyline though it rose as high as the angular arrangement of skyscrapers they knew. Along the paved walks jogged or strolled statuesque women of impressive proportion, most in some variation on the theme of a draped toga the hems intricately embroidered in what those familiar with the dimension knew to be markings of caste and station among the populace. Those with the most intricate and highest ranked were followed by lithe men in assorted garb clearly designed to accentuate that which was pleasing in the masculine form.

Huang fixed his a mom a thoroughly teen age look of 'oh aren't you funny' though his eyes strayed to the cabinet where the famed head in jar had been stashed when xiptec had brought in to him. He shifted for a moment and tried to move the conversation on perhaps too quickly, "Well sure I will." he agreed a little too readily, "Nothing that hard to overcome and all that!" he extolled a bit too loudly. At her remaining suggestion he shrugged, "Yea I don't know how great an idea that'll be." he mused, "As I don't know what teenagers do these days either." he offered with a lamentful shrug, "I have memories of teen activities that'll be current in the mid twenties, maybe." he pointed out with a smirk, "And I don't know that anyone at this crazy school has any more idea than I do."
-
"Someone should tell them that." Huang mused in response buying time once more as he considered her thoughts, "I think the view you're talking about is in fact a deeper question than what I say." he replied with a trademark smirk and ran a hand through his hair leaving it sticking up at off angles like carefully planned bedhead sans planning. "What advantages are these supposed to be?" he asked earnestly, "Because I really don't know why I'm there." he threw up his hands in frustration and looked to her questioningly, "The classroom work is fine, whatever, algebra is about as useless as it comes when half the geometries you work with are fifth dimensional but I can cope." he explained soothingly, "But what else?" he asked earnestly, "No one there can match you for magical knowledge and the only one in even my range is another student half the school thinks is an infernalist because they wouldn't know one if it ate their face." Burying his face in his hands he huffed out a sharp breath, "And friends." he shook his head, "I don't even know." Huang looked up lost as to how to categorize his school acquaintances, "I could go hang out with the other second generation heroes and mock all the weirdos as their token weirdo, but how about no." he was firm on that at least, "And like I don't even know where to begin with the 'no my shoulder chip is bigger' collective I get sent on training with."
-
Huang rolled his eyes, "I think I have a guitar around here somewhere if we need to get our kumbai yayas out." the teen replied dryly. "That wasn't my question and you know it. Now you're dodging." he said frankly and shrugged, "It's fine you think I'm not ready, like with most things." he sighed looking off in the distance again and shaking his head. "Not everything is an existential larger than life question." Huang suggested plainly, "Sometimes things just are what they are mom." Standing and pacing as he pondered her question he threw up his hands, "I think it doesn't matter." turning back to her on one heel he shrugged and waved off the whole question, "You were born completely human, and esoteria aside fate didn't decree you what you are now, that was choice." he met his mothers gaze with a long sigh, "I am just me, trying to do something with whatever time I have be it years, weeks, or forever." he said flatly, "I don't know anything else except that I don't feel like all this apeing normalcy is getting me any closer to being able to do that safely."

Huang drifted effortlessly to a somewhat battered chair the worn upholstery still marred by the duct tape residue from some long ago interrogation Phantom had helped Avenger clean up. He was taken aback by the statement and raised a brow, "That's uh, pretty nascent." he murmured as cover for his surprise at her thoughts. He stared thoughtfully into the emptiness that surrounded them both, "I remember BEING JJ though?" he finally countered though he knew on some level that did not undo her theory in full. His mind was spinning, was she trying to say he was some void figment like those he called up as servitors? simply declaring the offspring she knew best as that which was the 'true' Jack Huang Faretti? No, even if she had been cruel on that level that was clearly not the argument she made and he knew it. Like her it seemed was the crux of what she was suggesting, "You are unique." he pointed out, "I mean so am I." he agreed and frowned, "So what then am I? we? Are we?" he asked simply curious now what she had come to believe maybe discovered, there was no greater expert to go to after all.
-
Blinking at the odd tangential line of inquiry Huang hrummed softly under his breath. He was about to try and tie back to his own nature when she of course got back on track and he recalled his mothers somewhat rambling interconnected style of instruction. Letting out a slight sigh as the discussion righted itself he refocused on the more direct theory she postulated. "Well so far he has, believe me he still has plenty of time to get grandiose ideas about temporal manipulations of reality." he countered with a smirk, "Maybe he'll even do better." huang mused. Raising a brow he though deeper on her suggestion, "Wait," he said pausing with the unearthly stillness of those who needn't breath other than for cosmetic reasons, "Nascent." he said quietly and looked to his mother curiously, "How nascent are you thinking?" he pondered, "Like JJ nascent? Earlier?" he asked incredulously.
-
Huang fixed his mother a withering look at her commentary on his teen existential crisis and wrap around back to the book she wanted him to read. Taking a deep breath however he centered his thoughts on the puzzle she presented rather than the infuriatingly motherly presentation. "Yes, We are both of the void at least as much as of prime." he agreed still trying to piece together what this had to do with taking after one or the other parent, "Both of us." he clarified again. "The transitive dimensions touch not only all potential places but all potential times." he finally pulled out and tilted his head at his mother curiously, "Which roots me time displaced or not to something outside of time?" he questioned uncertainly as this certainly didn't seem the direction she was heading with this.
-
Huangs eyes darted to his mothers as she spoke more as Phantom than Taylor, a rare enough occurrence to start. His eyes narrowed as he gauged how much of her words were worrying mother and how much was based on her not insubstantial knowledge base of the arcane. Accepting her words was not hard, it was really what he wished to believe regardless though he retained some doubts, "Well not necessarily, but I'd probably be changing my own past in some way noticeable if I was." he agreed. The thin string his own research had clung to was his lack of memories of the older him in his life. He followed her with ease across the barrier to the void looking to her quizzically, "That isn't entirely true either." He corrected his mother carefully, "I've looked, JJ has as much connection here as I do just less mastery of it." Huang was well able to sense the dimensional ties in those around him, a skill earned when he fed from Set, and well worth guarding in the presence of one connected to as many places as his mother. "I understand the tendency towards dualities in these situations, but that is no guarantee." he shrugged and moved on spinning and letting himself float through the void in a relaxed posture, "Regardless though." he reiterated, "Even with eons before me I can't just spend a decade playacting the teen." Huangs tone was strained, "I don't even know how to be one."
-
Rolling his eyes Huang shook his head, "Yea we had that talk when things started getting serious with - Nevermind." the teen quickly averted before he revealed more of potential futures than he intended or worse introduced much more awkwardness to his younger self's life. "Anyway I got that on lockdown." he assured her and quickly moved on. "Yea this too I have noticed." he pointed out his tone prickly, "But I'm also not." he countered firmly, "I mean I'm not going to sit and relearn algebra for ten more years." he said firmly and steepled his fingers, "I'm not five and I'm not even sixteen really." he argued with a grimace, "I have twenty years of memories and experiences kicking around in here." he pointed at his head, "I CAN'T just sit here pretending I don't while I wait to catch up with myself." Huang declared perhaps more forcefully than he intended and took a deep breath. "I can accept the teen body and who knows maybe never getting my full height." he offered with a smirk and a hint of his fathers wry grin, "But I can't be some kind of forever child taking the long way back to my time." he grew somber for a long moment, "We don't even know if I'll be here anymore when JJ catches up." Huang pointed out eyes flitting to his mother for a long moment, "The loop closes and-" *pop* he gestured and made the nose in unison with a shrug, "If I'm just a temporal shadow or loop dupe I'd like to take what I have a live a little."
-
Huang looked up in horror at his mother's comments as things were going well with Set, very well, and he pretty much wanted to discuss his love life with his mother never if at all possible. "Yea that's all good but we have an agreement about talking about that don't we? You don't actually want to know and I don't want to tell you?" he pointed out uncomfortably adding, "But yes it's good and I'm not doing anything risky." before he let out a sigh recognizing the opening for what it was. "It's the usual nonsense." He said with a heavy shrug, "The school doesn't know if ti want's to prep us for heroics or just get us through high school, so all the training is weird morality plays and nothing useful." he groused cranky still at the last few rounds of 'training' had been heavy on weird moralizing and light on well training. He waved it off however, "Everyone's a little nuts over it I guess but really other than it being a waste of everyone's time I can get over it." Huang admitted with a shrug. "Other students." he frowned, "I don't even know, half of them are like the most banal people that happen to have powers and the other half are out of their damn minds." the teen explains with a shake of his head, "I just don't know what I'm doing there, certainly not getting allies, unless I go into business and need a secretary that can lower the cooling bill or want to start raves minus the sex and drugs." he scoffed pinching his brow. Looking up to his mom he sighed, "I can accept not fitting in. I'm used to that." he said with a shrug, "And fear or misunderstanding sure fine it's part and parcel with who and what I am." he added it seemed honestly, "I just wish it didn't feel like treading water." he looked down at his hands, "I've been here almost five years, and not aged a day." he intoned slowly, "I mean we both know ageless is a thing that I can expect, but how long am I going to be pretending like I'm a highschooler?"
-
Huang accepted the hug with a half hearted sigh of teen ennui. "Me glum?" he replied with a shake of his head, "What reason would I have?" the tall teen sarcastically inquired. He clapped the book shut and set it aside with a light touch. "Hermeticism has it's place, at least it can be practiced." he countered carefully avoiding mentioning his specific prohibitions lest she reflect on the reasons behind them. He took the book and thumbed through it, "Yes excellent, a visitors guide to dimensions I'm forbidden from, I'll be sure to get to it to go along with the insiders guide to Disney World and that Secrets of the Vatican volume." He set the lore keepers text atop the other folio he'd been perusing and sunk back into the chair, "I just feel like I'm stagnating." he complained aloud finally eyes fixed on the floor in front of him, "School is going through the motions, I spend the rest of my time here or in the dorm and-" he shrugged and threw up his hands, "It doesn't matter." he finally relayed glumly not wanting to go in depth into the weird mind games school training seemed to be or the, conflicted, relations with other students.
-
Huang stopped in his tracks at the suggestion from Sarah. He was a teenage boy after all so his mind did not leap immediately to the realms of assembling an illicit super team of trusted teens. Looking back at her he pondered how exactly to respond, Set after all would be more likely than most partners to be interested in the suggested arrangement. Taking in Cathy's commentary however he put together her intention and managed to mostly disguise his disappointment, "Ah yes then." he murmured as he tried to kick his mind back into gear. Running one hand through tousled hair he considered options for a long moment, "There might be a few people to bring in but," he paused with a wry shrug, "There's alot of big personalities in our class. Without an authority figure laying down the law it might be a bit too many chefs spoil the broth."

Huang bounced from one room to the next in the spacious mansion. Ever since the party he'd been confined to quarters, totally unfair of course, they came home early, it totally was going great before that. He slumped into an overstuffed wingback chair older than any of the corporeal residents of the home by at east half a century with a dramatic sigh. "Who am I kidding it was a disaster." he said to no one in particular startling a nearby ghost as she dusted the mantle, "What was that young master Faretti?" "Hmm, oh nothing Prudence." he said absently and dismissed her with a wave as he toyed with the spine of yet another ancient tome he'd never be allowed to master. Cracking the heavy leather folio open he began to study the contents once more, if only they could see him as he was and not as the five year old they knew, perhaps, but no after the debacle of his glamoured older self ritual magics were verboten. And when ones mother was arguably the most potent mage on the plane, or several others for that matter, that kind of prohibition tended to stick. He continued to read up on the dense material, High Magics of the seventh sphere. One things the hermetics had going for them. You could go though the motions without an ounce of power and not risk accidentally opening a portal through time and space to some nether realm.

His skin is a deep burnished sepia, darkened from long hours in the tropical sun. His heavy jaw and broad nose lead up to a high forehead and frame his dark eyes twinkling with humor at some unspoken joke. His head is topped by a long mass of tousled raven curls that drape nearly to his waist falling in messy ringlets occasionally tied back in a vain effort to tame the locks. A days worth of stubble graces his jaw more often than not his polynesian heritage earning him an incomplete escape from regular shaving. In nearly any weather he wears a simple t-shirt or tank top with a logo of a favorite band or surfwear company, or none at all on beach days, over board or cargo shorts and flip flops or bare feet. When pressed to more dressy occasions he'll settle on knee length linen khaki shorts and a traditional aloha shirt and flip flops in better repair or perhaps leather sandals, traditional shoes are not negotiable. In costume his look varies little, black morphic molecule jammers replace his usual shorts and he goes shirtless with hair tied back loosely by a leather thong. Time allowing he makes a nod to 'costume' and adds a traditional Samoan ie lavalava tied about his waist in a rippling black and sky blue pattern. While nominally keeping his identity secret he doesn't bother with a mask relying mostly on the startling difficulty many non-islanders have telling one islander from another. History: Kimo was born the fourth of seven children amid a community that often seemed more family than not. This lent itself to a very wide net of 'family' for the young man as he was never far from someone he was at least tangentially related to it seemed. He lived a fairly normal if not luxurious life with lessons in song, dance, and instruments rounding out his traditional schooling and all the spare time he could muster spent at the beach or on the waves. With an active lifestyle and healthy genetics he grew into a strapping youth and spent all his free time swimming and surfing the beaches around his home town. He was 16 when things took a turn for the strange, surfing a particularly harsh set he got pulled under in the crush slammed into the coral below the break. Strictly amateur hour stuff while trying to showboat for some tourist girls. He should have been smashed up, possibly drowned by the force of the wave and the bad break he took. But he was unharmed and in fact felt better than ever. When he made it in to shore the crowd was amazed, when his baord washed up moments later, or what was left of it, everyone was sure it was some kind of miracle. And they were not entirely wrong. The Trauma had triggered a latent mutation rendering him nearly invulnerable and with the strength of ten men, maybe more. He knew something must have happened he remembered hitting the coral reef, the dull thud as he was dashed against the rocks, the rasping scratch as the coral scraped across his suddenly invulnerable flesh. He also was not so certain he could tell anyone and kept it secret for some time. Within a month he realized his powers were only growing, and expanding. He could command the waters of hte sea to do his bidding and his strength only grew. After he discovered his powers he took a short lived and rather embarrassing turn as a teen hero on the streets of Hilo. Calling himself Kanaloa after one of the chief Native Hawaiian deities he took to the streets to rid his neighborhood of pushers and meth heads. It did not go well. Even his command of hte waters was to little avail when a poorly planned attack on a local Meth lab ended in half the apartment complex it was housed in burning down. His absurd misuse of traditional iconography didn't help matters when his grandma caught him sneaking in that night. His career as Kanaloa was over before it really began, and he spent every spare moment for the next two years either in lessons on the Islands proud history and mythology or working to pay back his family who had stepped in to help those displaced by his mistake. While it never became common knowledge who was behind the disasterous amatuer appropriation of godhead, Kimo was done. After graduating high school Kimo set his eyes on Freedom city, for surely in the City of Heroes he could find his way to do more with his powers. He enrolled at Freedom College and moved into the dorms. He's been there almost a year and a half now and is starting to explore his potential as a hero under the less appropriative name, Kanunu, "The Strong." He knows he has alot to learn but if there is anywhere he can learn it's Freedom. Personality & Motivation: Kimo takes the general 'Time is different on the Islands' attitude to heart. He's slow to anger and easy going in demeanor which can come off at times as if he doesn't take things seriously though he does, he just prefers not to act rashly. When he does move to act he can be implacable however and his fury when pushed is potent and relentless. Kanunu is new to him, he came to study in Freedom at least in part out of the hopes of turning his powers into something more. However in this city festooned with the monuments to the greatest heroes he can't help but feel somewhat inadequate. He has potential but lacks confidence in his abilities and in what he's doing, he's young and inexperienced and very concerned about doing more harm than good. With some experience and a healthy dose of self confidence though he could do great things. Powers & Tactics: Kanunu is a fairly straightforward fighter and while not devoid of tactics he takes a firm, 'If it ain't broke don't fix it.' approach to tactics. His mutations had granted him both great strength and left him nearly invulnerable to anything short anti vehicular weaponry. Wading into battle he'll focus first on dispatching underlings, a task he's very well suited to, before moving on to bring the battle to more worthy foes. With access to a suitable water source he can utilize his hydrokinetic potential to unleash the power of the waves on his foes allowing him greater command of the battlefield though aqueous manipulations. Shaping and wielding water to provide cover or hamper foes as well as take more direct action with powerful jets and waves or mighty tendrils to grasp foes or extract and protect innocents. When immersed in a body of water Kanunu becomes a truly mighty foe of evil. As comfortable in the waves as ashore and adapted to freezing crushing depths and able to hold his breath 'hella long' he gains benefits well beyond the able liquid to turn against foes. Commanding waves and tidal surges to grant allies mobility and turning his hydrokinetic might on foes with ease he is a force to be reckoned with. Power Descriptions: Kimos core mutations are supernatural strength and durability that have no outward signs beyond his admittedly impressive physique. Even his aquatic adaptations have more to do with endurance and familiarity than obviously mutant origins. Hydrokinetics of course are far more obvious. Kanunu commands the waves through gesture the larger the effect the more full body the movement, a simple stomp may send choppy ripples or slick waters flowing to impede his foes while a full bodied sawy and thrust of his arms may send waves crashing or an extended arm to reach out and grasp a foe with bonds of watery doom. The most advanced explorations of his powers are more akin to dance than battle in appearance as he draws from his heritage as influence over his command of the seas. When calling forth a wave to ride on dry land he's able to pull the water from the air or a nearby water source as needed to build a cresting wave he and allies can ride, if they're willing to get a little wet. Complications: Ohana: The concept of Family is of great import to Kimo. You take care of family and they take care of you, more than that though family goes beyond the bonds of blood. Those who earn a place in his heart have a steadfast friend and supporter. Kuleana: Kimo knows his start as a hero was poor, he feels a deep need to do better this time around. Ha'Aha'A: Kimo has alot of doubts that he can live up to the big city heroes of Freedom, he has alot to prove to himself as well as the world. Moana: Kimo's hydrokinetics require water to work with and while his big wave flight ability doesn't require a water source pulling moisture from the air when needed it does need some moisture. In air too dry without an alternate source he'll be grounded. Ha: Kimo is not truly amphibious. He doesn't have gills or anything and needs to breath oxygen to survive. His mutations do however allow him to hold his breath 'Hella long' represented by his full immunity to suffocation, there isn't a set time limit but he can run out of air. As they crept down the stair Kingsnake would motion to woodsman in silence, indicating he'd located a back entrance and was going to cut of the villains route of escape. Then as quickly as he'd appeared the vigilante was gone. The drywall at the base of hte stair would not stand up to a solid kick no less one of Woodsman's bolts and would be little impediment once the young hero made his move. He could hear the muffled speech through the think layer of pressed gypsum and plaster as he awaited the perfect moment. In the waiting room the dull flicker of florescent lights seemed to be slowly sapping Nighthawks will to live though that at least was no more sinister than the myriad other similar waiting rooms the young heroine had found herself in since her parents death so many years ago. The receptionists eyes pinched for a moment as she tapped in the number on Robins flyer and she glanced to the young woman and back to her screen several times, "Not long at all." she said quietly as she finished whatever she needed to edit on her terminal. The receptionist pursed her lips and nodded toward the elevator doors as they slid open, "The elevator will take you to our offices, simply follow the hall and a technician will be waiting for you." she explained easily and nodded toward the open doors as she went back to her solitaire game.
